A couple of random comments from out there in cyberspace --

I also wanted to mention that Aruba has been a favorite vacation spot for my husband and I for years . We hadn't been back since the murder until last Easter. It was if the fun and goodwill was just sucked out of the atmosphere. I felt so gloomy and thought about Natalie and her poor mother the entire time. I will never go back.

I must say that I like what Anita is wearing in the above pix. Softer colors are much better on her than the bright tropical stuff.

Joran sure likes to exaggerate!
LOL!

DEN HEUVEL: He said that there was a bucket full of water near his -- near him. And he said that they threatened him that they`d put his head under water if he didn`t want to declare anything.

LOL

I agree with ozziesmom's suggestion ... send this image of the "bucket" of wa to Nancy Grace ... the "bucket" of water Joran refers to in his complaint.

That one is just way tragic. The outfit should have been sold with floppy shoes and
a squirting flower. Does Rosemarie Arnold (a tacopina attachment) just not have the heart to tell her ` girlfriend come over here - we need to have a little chat.

ORANGE CITY / LIMA - Joran van der Sloot (22) possible to get the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. He feels that his rights "on all sides" have been violated.

So says his Peruvian lawyer Máximo Altez in an interview with Radio Netherlands. Joran wants to include his confession of the murder Stephany Flores (21) is deleted. The confession was made under duress and unread are drawn. Moreover, the legality of his detention in Chile and Peru to surrender in question. His lawyer has also objected to the court. The judge indicated that he will appeal if his demand is not granted. "If necessary internationally," said Altez. He thinks that everything should be rolled back to the time before the rights of Joran were violated. In legal terms 'habeas corpus'. A fundamental right that protects people from illegal imprisonment. International law is defined in particular the UN Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights is based in Washington. This committee may also make recommendations only. It may be a case to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica. This may take the matter under consideration and the defendant, this court acknowledges. One of the sitting judges of this court is from Peru.

It appears that Joran chose to be represented by a private attorney rather than one appointed by the court.

LIMA, Peru — Joran van der Sloot will spend all week at criminal police headquarters being questioned in the death of a 21-year-old Lima woman and has asked to be able to hire his own lawyer, authorities said Sunday.

Aired June 24, 2010 - 20:00:00   ET

VICTORIA MACCHI, INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER, ON LOCATION AT JUSTICE PALACE IN LIMA, PERU:  Nancy, yesterday, we heard that he and -- through his lawyer, Maximo Altez, had filed a complaint against the homicide department of the Peruvian national police. And in that complaint, he said that he had not been properly represented. Now, what we found out today was that he did not, in fact, have a court-appointed attorney when he gave his confession two weeks ago, but it was an attorney, Luz Romero Chinchay, that he had chosen. She was one of several defense attorneys who went to police headquarters, presented herself as an attorney, and he actually chose her.  And she was his attorney up until that Thursday when Maximo Altez, through people that he and the Van Der Sloot family and the Netherlands knew in common, became his attorney.

Government maintains ban on fish trap

June 25, 2010, 13:18 (GMT -04:00)

ORANGE CITY - The government maintains the ban on the throw of fish trap in territorial waters. That minister Otmar Oduber (AVP) for Tourism, Labor and Transportation announced yesterday. The ban on the use of traps is determined by law.

Only on the basis of a permit may be throwing fishing nets, and only in waters with a depth of 40 meters or more. The government is not planning to issue new permits, the minister said. Oduber says the decision was taken on the basis of advice from the Coast Guard, Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (LVV) and the fishing community. The fishermen were heard at a meeting on June 9 Caiquetios Club. There were supporters and opponents present their arguments. The opponents were in the majority. Also considered their objections heavier as they join the opinion of international organizations and governments of other countries. The government has now taken the position that traps harmful to the underwater environment, and they rob small bait fishermen of income. "Some people have proposed to set areas where cages can be thrown, but the Coast Guard recommends it off because it is difficult to control them", said Oduber.

Teen Girl smuggles cocaine

June 25, 2010, 13:18 (GMT -04:00)

ORANGE CITY - A nineteen year old woman with the initials AT was yesterday sentenced to four months' imprisonment for drug trafficking. The punishment was slightly lower than that required by the Public Prosecutor (OM). The woman was arrested on October 31, 2009 with 200 grams of cocaine when she wanted to travel to the Netherlands. She had illegal drugs in her private parts hidden. As he said she did it from lack of money. She received 3000 euros in order to smuggle the drugs into the Netherlands. Whom she had the drugs or who are involved, the woman does not want to say. The prosecution then claimed six months suspended prison sentence and 160 hours service. The court reduced the sentence and did not need to impose a community service.

Joran complains about police treatment

ORANJESTAD/LIMA — Joran van der Sloot (22) has filed a complaint against the Peruvian police. According to the murder suspect, he was supposedly arrested on June 3rd in Chili without an arrest warrant. Moreover, Joran says his rights were violated during police interrogations.

“I was denied the right to an adequate defense. I was appointed a lawyer who apparently is the girlfriend of a police officer at the station”, Joran states in his compliant on the police interrogations. News broadcasting station CNN managed to get hold of documents in which the complaint is recorded. Joran further complains about the interpreter during the interrogation. “An unofficial interpreter who was imposed on me, made me confused. With this, justice wanted to ensure I would blame myself.” Moreover, by his own accord, he was threatened during his interrogation. “He states a pail filled with water was placed next to him during the interrogation. The investigators subsequently threatened to hold Joran’s head under water if he did not give a statement”, says John van den Heuvel, journalist with De Telegraaf. The past week, Van den Heuvel visited Joran in the Castro Castro prison where the 22-year old is held in custody. Joran confesses the murder of the 21-year old Peruvian Stephany Flores, but now states this confession is not correct. He now maintains he had simply placed his signature with the promise he would be allowed to go the Netherlands. What actually did occur, he would reveal later on. It’s become clear Joran blames the FBI for ‘luring’ him to Peru. Moreover, they had secretly tailed him the night Flores was murdered, according to his story.

Meanwhile, Anita van der Sloot, Joran’s mother, is finished with this. In an interview with the Dutch broadcasting station RTL 4, she says: “Angry is putting it mildly. I experienced something like, why don’t you fall through the floor. I’m no longer going to do anything for you.” Visibly emotional, she tells her story and says amongst others that Joran became very depressed after his father passed away earlier this year. In the interview with reporter Van den Heuvel, Joran says, “I understand why my mother does not want to visit me in prison. I have caused her too much pain. If only I had listened to her.” Meanwhile, the American station ABC had purchased the interview with Anita.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Loving Natalee - Beth Holloway

Page 232:
Without hope we are hungry. And on a very deep level, desperate. But no one has to be. What's so amazing is that we can feed each other. We can help each other. We have the power to give resilience to others who are fading. We can nourish each other's spirits and save one another from defeat and despair. Every one of us possesses this power to "love thy neighbor," and we need to use it every chance we get.

The official psychological evaluation conducted on notorious murder suspect Joran van der Sloot finds that the 22-year-old Dutchman is sane, but devalues women, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

EXCLUSIVE DOCUMENTS: Joran van der Sloot Sane, But Devalues Women -- Read His Psychological Evaluation

RadarOnline.com obtained a copy of the evaluation, which is part of a broader report compiled by the prosecution as they build their case against van der Sloot.

The report also contains graphic details about the death of Stephany Flores Ramirez, a 21-year-old college student, and the conditions in which authorities found her body in a hotel room in Lima, Peru on June 2.

Van der Sloot is also a suspect in connection with the  mysterious disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba back in 2005.

A forensic psychologist who evaluated van der Sloot said the Dutchman "at the time of evaluation, does not show pathological disorders that prevent [him] from perceiving and evaluating reality.”

According to the report, van der Sloot "denotes an average intellectual level," "presents traces of an antisocial personality," and "is indifferent when it comes to the welfare of others."

The report also said van der Sloot displays "poor social awareness that is evident in the violation of the rules" and the actions he takes against others.

Van der Sloot, according to the report, veers "towards a life of debauchery and dissipation in the search for new sensations that allow him to feel encouraged," which is reflective of his "emotional immaturity."

The report indicated he "devalues the female figure."

Peru judge sees 6-month Van der Sloot trial
(AP) – 18 minutes ago
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ivjZZz2WTj-nJ_lNzCNyFmuADWDwD9GIGM800

LIMA, Peru — The chief of the Superior Court for Peru's capital says the murder trial of Joran van der Sloot should take about six months. An independent expert says it actually might take 18.

Van der Sloot is charged with murdering student Stephany Flores in his Lima hotel room on May. 30. He also remains the sole suspect in the unresolved 2005 disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba.

Judge Cesar Vega told reporters on Friday that Peruvian laws allow up to six months for murder trial. But legal expert Mario Amoretti tells the Associated Press that in practice, cases like Van der Sloots can last 18 months.

Criminal court attorney Jose Balcazar says the defense is likely to try to draw the trial out.
