Dozens of statements filed Thursday.

Casey Anthony's defense team turned in volumes of depositions taken from key witnesses in the case late Thursday, which divulge everything from witnesses' personal problems to the ongoing tension between the defense team and investigators.

Two of the more lengthy depositions made public Friday morning are from Roy Kronk, the Orange County utility worker who found Caylee Marie Anthony's remains in late 2008; and Sgt. John Allen, one of the primary Sheriff's Office investigators on the first-degree murder case.

Casey Anthony, 24, is accused of killing 2-year-old Caylee in the summer of 2008. Her trial is slated to begin in May.

More than 40 transcribed depositions taken by the defense at various times since 2009 were released in this latest round — totaling more than 3,000 pages.

Among those also questioned: Jesse Grund, one of Anthony's ex-boyfriends; FBI Agent Nick Savage; Robyn Adams, an inmate who befriended Anthony in the Orange County Jail; and Brian Burner, the neighbor who let Anthony borrow a shovel.

Contentious interview with investigator

The tension between the defense team and investigators was clear during a seven-hour deposition of detective Allen.

In his two-volume transcript, Allen told defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason that detectives had a number of conversations with Casey Anthony's mother, Cindy Anthony, "that were kind of out there."

Allen said Cindy Anthony misled investigators, wasn't always cooperative and that she hasn't always been forthright.

One of the defense attorneys asked Allen if Cindy Anthony has always been truthful with him.

"I don't believe so, no," Allen said.

At one point during the deposition, there was issue over an "interview" verses "interrogation."

Allen said he "interviewed" Casey Anthony, not interrogated her.

"The mere fact that she hadn't been truthful with us didn't turn it into an interrogation," Allen said.

After more back and forth, Allen said, "I've never -- honest to God, Mr. Mason, I've never water boarded anybody. I've never tortured anybody."

Allen and Baez disagreed on if they had arranged a specific meeting with Casey Anthony.

Allen said he didn't remember there being anything concrete set.

"It seemed like a lot of times when I had conversations with you, you just simply would put me off or tell me something that turned out to be nonsense," Allen told Baez.

Macaluso filed a motion to be removed from Anthony's case in April because he was in trouble with the California Bar. The California State Bar alleged that he misappropriated about $145,000 and misused nearly $61,000 in client money.

Allen told the defense team that investigators had to follow up with a statement Macaluso made in court about Caylee's remains being placed in the woods after Anthony was in jail.

The exchange between the attorneys and Allen was included in the transcript:

Wonder if it's been disabled now that it's been exposed for what it is....There was this guy, who claimed veteran status, that set up a non-profit, turned out it was all bunk and he was soliciting and receiving funds to line his own pockets, all under the guise of honoring fallen service men. As soon as someone hinted it was bogus, and before it could be investigated the site went "poof." Funny thing is, even if the site owner poofs it, it's still archived....nice try!

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Chief Judge Belvin Perry issued his rulings Friday on the motions from the hearings earlier this month on whether jurors will hear the statements Casey Anthony made to investigators right after her daughter Caylee was reported missing.

Perry denied the motion to suppress statements that were made by Casey to George, Cindy, and Lee Anthony, as well as those made to pen pal Robyn Adams and correction's officer, Sylvia Hernandez.

In a jailhouse conversation between Casey Anthony and her brother, Lee, just nine days after she was arrested in 2008, Casey admits she was read her Miranda rights by lead Orange County detective Yuri Melich. But her attorneys argued that she was already questioned without the assistance of an attorney. However, Judge Perry did not agree.

"When Melich read me my rights in front of the other two detectives he flat out said 'I'm going to hold you there as long as I can. There's going to be no bond, period,'” Casey said in the phone call.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- When Casey Anthony turns 25 on Saturday, there won't be any toasts, special dinner outings or cone-shaped birthday hats, but there will be cake.

It will be the 887th day Anthony has been in jail since her arrest on Oct. 14, 2008.

Her day will start with the jail's breakfast menu for the day -- one cup of grits, some breakfast gravy, bread, jelly and margarine.

While Anthony was briefly handcuffed before giving statements to police, Perry ruled her statements admissible into evidence "because the defendant was released from the handcuffs and voluntarily remained to answer questions" more than one hour later.

Perry found those and later statements were given "during consensual encounters with police and were not the product of any custodial interrogation, (so) the failure of law enforcement to advise her of Miranda warnings do not render the statements inadmissible at the trial."

As for the statements Casey made to family during videotaped jail visitations, Perry rejected the defense arguments that the relatives were acting as "agents of the state."

"Law enforcement did not manipulate any member of the Anthony family into doing something that they weren't already intending to do," Perry wrote -- specifically, "obtain information pertaining to Caylee from the defendant."

So those statements will also be allowed at trial.

In both rulings, Perry noted the statements are "highly relevant, specifically regarding demonstrating consciousness of guilt."

The below motion, can anytbody tell me if I am reading this right in that it appears to be in favor of the Duffense, whereas all the others are in favor of the prosecution?  I keep waiting for somebody to comment, but nobody is.  To me it reads that JBP denied prosecutions motion to strike defense motion to exclude evidence, and allowing Bozo to still get to try to get the chloroform evidence excluded at a Frye hearing.  Am I right or wrong?

Chloroform evidence

Perry did deny the state's motion to toss out a defense motion, which asked the court to dismiss scientific findings of "high amounts of chloroform" in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car.

The defense has argued the chloroform findings are "absolutely 100% false and constitute a fraud on the American public and potential jury pool of Miss Anthony."

The defense's motion to exclude the chloroform evidence will be heard at a "Frye hearing," referring to the so-called "Frye test," which deals with admitting new scientific evidence in the courtroom and determining whether the evidence has "gained general acceptance."

That hearing is scheduled for next week.

OK, thanks Trimm.  I am worried about that one.  Chloroform is important, I believe, to be entered.  So anybody want to guess how the Frye hearing will go?   What else is set for Frye.  The air tests and decomp hair? 

All that does in the denial of the motion is to move it to the Frye hearings. It means they will have a hearing on it and present case law.

Also, these motions that were denied, can Bozo refile them like he seems to refile motion after motion again and again?  Can he go up to another court? 

Okay, thanks Turbo.  Basically it means, since he didn't approve it right away, Judge saw something that he thought the duffense should be given an opportunity to try to have it excluded, and present it at Frye.  I guess it worries me.  Am I overworrying, like I tend to do over everything.

These outrageous rulings have effectively overturned the Supreme Court 1966 Miranda vs. Arizona decision.

Casey was SHACKLED by the Police and questioned (practically waterboarded) without being read her Constitutional rights.

Any verdict from this Persecution will be overturned; by the Supreme Court if necessary.  Casey will be a Civil Rights martyr.  I would not rule out a postage stamp printed in her honor.

The Taliban gives an accused woman better treatment.  What has happened to America?

It makes me happy to read all those DENIALS to the defense stupid motions. If they had spent anytime looking up case law they would have known they would be denied. I still contend they are just slinging crap against the wall to see what sticks.

I particularity loved that he ruled the exact same thing I said about Dr. Hall, that an "opinion" is not applicable for a Frye hearing as it would not meet the Frye test. The judge evidently read that deposition very closely as it was hard to determine at first if it was opinion or empirical data the way Hall tried to spin it. I had to read it a number of times, but I bet as smart as the judge is he only had to read it once.

I don't see the defense winning much at the Frye hearings..I think we have already seen alot of the case law and precendent has been set in other trials for these to be allowed into play during this trial.....the chorloform, the bugs, the botany....I just think all the scientific evidense the State has compiled, the experts they have used to determine these results, are just unparalled in their fields.  Most of the prosecutions experts wrote "the" book on what they are going to be testifying about at trial.

In the depos the defense was overly cautious with the questions they ask of their own experts = at trial on cross Jeff and Linda will have them admitting they agree with the science behind the results or at the very least cannot disagree = the results putting Casey away.

What has become of her spending endless hours in the prison libray studying law books?  She can't have grown tired of all the Latin verbage, she couldn't understand, could she?

On a side note..all her busy scribblings in court , in my opinoion, are about what is happening then..not law aspecs.  Mostly..he is llying..she is lying, kind of writings.  With a few notes to family neshed in there ..you SOB  you lied on the stand kind of thing.

Poor OLD delusional Cindy. All those drugs she is taking has really screwed up her mind now. I remember when the police took her drugs wasn't there that Ambien? I believe that one is really dangerous for old people.

That was the very FIRST thing I noticed in the interviews was not only KC speaking of Caylee in the past tense but so did George & Cindy. I can't remember if Lee did or not, but I was convinced they ALL knew she was dead because of that.

I am assuming it would be michelle medina! she spends hrs with casey and not so many visits from baez. I do not think he realy wants to deal with her! perhaps because he knows that things are falling  apart as far as her defense.

ya think baez is starting to sweat and stress the possibility of being investigated further or at all.

Note:  I will also ask for a link if I see someone has posted "I read somewhere that...."  We want to know where it was the poster read it so we can read it.   Or if someone posts what looks like may be a fact, with no substantiation, such as " Her mother paid her bail" in a comment.  Where did that come from?  We need a link.  The reason I ask for links?  To cut down on on misinformation.  So many times I've seen something posted with out a link/source and it's picked up by others and becomes assumed it's fact.  If it's a fact, then we need to find and post the link, and it's much easier to post the link with the info the FIRST time, not after we have to ask for it, then go back and edit the post and any quotes.  And what if it ISN"T/WASN'T a fact, but something someone they read somewhere or thought was a fact?  (even in good faith?)  Then it's been posted, quoted and we end up with having to try to go back and note it as unsubstantiated rumor.  Basically, when folks post here, it's a missing person's thread.  It's not a chat room.  We discuss the case, give our opinions, give our theories and we also present portions of articles with links, sections of blogs with links.  If we just post a lot of stuff with no substantiation, Scared Monkeys loses creditability.  We need the links to snipped articles for reference and to avoid copyright issues.  Please keep in mind not all posters can/will read back on a thread.  Someone may have posted an article with link on (for example) page 24, but over on page 27, the article is brought back up and a portion of the article is posted for discussion, then even the SNIPPED bit that is quoted and comes out of the other post needs to have the link.  And posts that refer back to what someone else posts should be either quoted or a link back to that from Scared Monkeys.

Some web sites don't require a link, but this one does.  In a nutshell, we need links.

This has nothing to do with Lee talking in the past tense but something else. I'm sitting here listening to some of Lee's interview with police and something has struck me I hadn't noticed before. He's recalling the details of everything that happened from the beginning of finding out that Caylee is "missing" and he says he goes to find a pad and pen to get details after he learns the news from kc...and I'm wondering, why isn't he saying something about what a dang shock it is that no one knows where his niece is? He notes every detail he can recall, even details I don't know many who could recall, but not one detail that he cried, felt heart broken, or anything emotional at all after finding out this news about his one and only niece. He doesn't sound anything like a broken hearted uncle. He sounds like a narcissistic embarrassed brother.

At the end of the video, the NY prosecutor giving his opinion, says this is a very tough case for the prosecution.  It's tough because it's based on circumstantial evidence. HOWEVER, the State has done it's work, all the pieces fall into place beautifully and they don't have to prove how Caylee died. I just pray the jury sees this case as it is and not as it's being fabricated by the defense.   moo

The Roger A. In Session and the Orlando Sentinel will be providing the video and still pool feeds for media coverage of this trial.  No additional cameras will be permitted to be used in the courtroom.  Cell phones are allowed in the courtroom, however use of cell phone cameras is prohibited. The trial will begin daily at *8:45 a.m. The court deputy will open the courtroom for all media and general public at approximately 8:20 a.m. The courtroom will be made available to the pool media before the proceeding for installation and power-up of equipment.

23rd Floor Lobby
For the purposes of this trial, the courtroom rules and procedures have been extended to the 23rd floor lobby.  Therefore, no cameras or recording devices can be used in this area and loitering in this area will not be permitted by media or members of the public.  A single pool video camera and a single still camera will be allowed in the lobby for coverage of ingress & egress to the courtroom. Assignment of these pool positions and sharing of taped footage/photos is the sole responsibility of the media.

Media Rooms
The court has designated two areas to serve as media rooms for the duration of the State vs. Casey Anthony case.
The media room, located on the second floor of the Orange County Courthouse (room 230), offers limited work space (6 seats) with the ability to monitor and record the pool feed from the courtroom. The video signal is composite and audio is at microphone level.

I just mean that I think I am conufsed.  What I was going to post is that I thought i had read that the media was reviewing the depos to edit out personal info before releasing them, but i do not know where I read that.  I have been on a zillion links lately.  I may have even read it here.  I do not remember, but I do remember reading that they are editing them before releasing them.

I'm not saying they don't shell out the $$$ for them, but it takes them a long time to go thru them, and then they pick and choose what THEY think WE want to read or the most interesting.....this has happened in the past with this case. It really p!sses me off, but we don't have any control over it.

I have been trying to verify WHEN the info about the baby blanket being found with Caylee was released to the public. The soonest I found any articles with "the baby blanket" info being found with Caylee was either Jan. or Feb. 2009.......so how would KC know there was a baby blanket with Caylee if KC didn't put her there???

Amen Scat.  Robyn has/had all kinds of ulterior "jail house snitch" motives and I'm sure all kinds of contact with the "outside."

I'm pinning my (granted jaded by following this case forever with my monkeys) hopes on a Florida jury with common sense.  In my mind ... Caylee missing 31 days before reported ... not reported by her mother ... her little remains found in the Anthony back yard (so to speak) ... with duct tape attached to the remains ... and I don't care where the defense says it was ... no one would attach duct tape anywhere on the body of a deceased person if they died a natural death and you were just panicked!  These are things that cannot be disputed by any defense.  And to me (and I hope any sensible person) they all point right back Casey murdering Caylee.  My (granted jaded) opinion is that I wouldn't need forensics or any of that.  You don't let your baby go missing and not scream and cry and yell to LE, family, friends, general public ... "Help me Help me!  My baby is missing!"  Pretty simple.  But still glad we're in Florida and not LA!  (Sorry LA people!) :)

The general acceptance of the significance of root banding has been the subject of a Frye hearing in the state of New York... The court conclded, based largely upon the testimony of Nicholas Petraco, and Dr. Peter DeForest, authors of the first referenced journal above, "that the methodology testified to by the defendant's experts concerning postmortem hair banding is generally accepted with the forensic scientific community"...

It is interesting to note that in footnote 1 in the document, Ashton says,

In this case it is interesting to note that the hair in question was examined by an expert in this area hired by the Defense who, after his examination, she declined to list as a witness. To date no defense witness is disputing the FBI analysts opinion in this matter.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida's court system has frozen hiring and is bracing for possible staff furloughs due to a $72.3 million deficit blamed on a shortfall in filing fees after mortgage foreclosure cases dramatically declined.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles Canady last week wrote letters released Monday to Gov. Rick Scott and legislative budget leaders asking for a $21.7 million supplemental appropriation and $42.5 million in budget transfers to make sure vital functions continue through June 30, when the fiscal year ends.

"To meet the current funding crisis, the judicial branch has already implemented an emergency branch-wide hiring freeze and an emergency operating budget freeze," Canady wrote.

If those steps aren't approved, furloughing court personnel would be next.

"Such furloughs would cause severe disruption in the functioning of the courts," Canady warned.

This really bothers me that In Session is the media for video of the live trial.  I was hoping some other local station might get this gig.

Reason being..In Session cuts to commercial so frequently we'll miss half the trial.  They don't care who is speaking or what is being discussed.when it's time for a commercial, they cut to the commercial.  So I guess we can watch snippets of the trial between commercials.

Sounds like a match made in Hell...Casey can now proposition all the guards..instead of the other way around.  She'll definitely enjoy herself (too much for my liking).

I hope they hace her in general pop..

I'm questioning the efficacy of the claim that there is no SOP for the testing that was performed.
All an SOP is is a step by step guideline of how to operate an instrument, run calibrators (aka standards), controls and analytes.

We're just a day away from crucial hearings in the case against Casey Anthony.
   
It will be a battle over the scientific evidence in the case.
   
But, surprisingly Anthony's defense has filed a last-minute motion  asking one more thing be discussed.

Last week, Judge Belvin Perry ruled one of the state's experts will be allowed to testify as pure expert opinion.  So his testimony didn't need to be brought up in this week’s Frye hearings where they question scientific evidence.

The defense is now asking the judge to take that back.

Judge Belvin Perry recently ruled that Dr. David Hall's testimony will be allowed. Hall examined plant material at the scene where Caylee Anthony's remains were found.

Curly, I just read the entire deposition.  I agree with you. Dr. Logan is opinionated about standards (which is his right, of course), however, he was being opinionated not having read all the latest publishings, etc.  It seems to me Dr. Logan, an expert in his field, is being asked to testify by the duhfense in a field to which he has no expert knowledge . . . another mistake by the duhfense . . . and which is yet another indicator they have not done their homework.  It's a little late to be playing catch-up when they should have been hard at it a long time ago.  All, of course, JMO.

The defense wants to call an assistant state attorney to testify in the Case against Casey.

Kenneth Lewis, a homicide prosecutor, is being added to the witness list for the defense.

Lewis is the prosecutor in the James Ward case, the Isleworth millionaire accused of killing his wife.

The defense said it has recently learned Lewis may have information concerning Anthony's right to due process.

Prosecutors are required to fully disclose all exculpatory evidence they have.

The defense also wants to add two more people to the list – well-known psychiatrist Dr. Danzinger and a Boca Raton doctor.

There is a connection between the Casey Anthony case and the search for bodies at Charles Manson's last hideout.

The cold case investigation involves a deserted ranch in a remote area of California.

Scientists who examined that case are the same ones who studied the air samples from Casey Anthony's car.

After we put in a public records request, it took almost three months and a county commission vote for News 13 to get a copy of these law enforcement sensitive reports prepared for authorities in California.

Local 6 investigative reporter Tony Pipitone said he expects prosecutor Jeff Ashton to attack Logan in any way possible, including noting that Logan resigned last year as the director of the Washington state crime lab after judges lost faith in its blood alcohol tests.

Evidence like what state experts want to present regarding human decomposition have never been allowed in court to help prove a murder case in the past, but prosecutors believe they have a chance.

Ashton has a history of getting ground-breaking scientific evidence into court. In 1987, he obtained the first conviction in the United States based on DNA.

I think it is a reasonable motion and I am willing to bet it is granted. I believe it should be.

DEFENSE LISTS NEW WITNESSES

The defense has listed three new witnesses with only about a month and a half before Casey's murder trial starts.

One of them is prosecutor Ken Lewis. The defense claims he has evidence that could help Casey.

The other two are doctors the defense wants to testify about Casey's state of mind.


EQUUSEARCH VOLUNTEERS TO TESTIFY FOR PROSECUTION

Prosecutors are now calling on two EquuSearch volunteers, whose testimony the defense had been counting on. The defense claimed the volunteers searched the scene where Caylee's body was found in late summer 2008 and "found nothing," but now they'll testify for the prosecution.

Me too about the mornings UGH, trial is gonna kill me....as my son who was an EMT early on as a teen used to tease mommie "Im just gonna get an IV from the hospital mom  & just hook you up with coffee" (single mom syndrome working 50-80 hours a week, plus activities = BFF being caffeine)   Should have bought stock in Dunkin Donuts.

My Frye hearing predictions 80 to 90% of State's evidence and expert testimony will be admitted...anyone else want to wager a percentage?
