Judge grants motion to unseal Casey jail video

When Casey learned that a child's remains, which later was discovered to be Caylee's, were found near Suburban Drive in a wooded area not far from her home, she put her head in her hands and slumped over.

The video also shows that Casey rocked back and forth in the chair. The jail's surveillance recording system was broken that day and they had to use a camcorder to shoot it off of a TV.

Judge Perry heard arguments from both sides on Wednesday and made the decision to release it late Friday. The tape has been sealed since June 2009 because of fears it would affect Casey's ability to receive a fair trial. Casey was acquitted in July of killing her daughter Caylee Anthony, but found guilty on three counts of lying to police.

Jurors in the case never saw the video because Judge Stan Strickland ruled it would bias jurors against Casey and ordered it sealed.

In the video, her attorney Jose Baez arrived to speak with her shortly after she saw the news report.

The grainy security video shows Anthony sitting in a waiting room. There is no audio, but after she appears to hear something -- reportedly the televised news that a child's body was found in a swampy area near the Anthony home -- and puts her hands and forearms across her stomach, as she begins to slowly rock backwards and forwards. Her breathing seems to quicken and her chest can be seen rising and falling.

The remains were not identified as Caylee's until more than a week later.

After a while on the video, Anthony is taken into another room where her attorney, Jose Baez, sits down with her and appears to console her.

On the tape, Orange County jail officials reportedly told Anthony a meter reader stumbled upon the remains near Suburban Drive, according to an Orlando Sentinel article from 2009.

At the time of the Dec. 11, 2008 video, the body had not been identified as the remains of her 2-year-old daughter. Positive identification came eight days later.

Yes...hope the jurors choke on this - I'm sure they'll see the video....WAIT...these are the jurors that didn't really know much about the case - could it be they won't see this video (she said tongue-in-cheek).

Next...end of next month....Judge Perry is to release the names of the jurors.  Right?

n his ruling today, Perry said the tape was “public record subject to disclosure.”

Perry was “seeing it our way, if you will, and the public’s way,” Holfeld said.

Viewers could watch and draw their own conclusions.

WFTV’s Ryan Hughes urged viewers to “watch as she puts her head in her hands, then slumps over. She was clearly upset. She rocked back and forth in the chair.”

WKMG’s Holfeld said, “You’ll see her body slump forward, as if she is reacting.”

But the images were fuzzy, and Anthony’s hair and hands often obscured her face. So the tape itself didn’t match the buildup to its release. Her back was to the camera when she was talking to defense attorney Jose Baez.

Why so fuzzy? Hughes explained that the jail surveillance recording system was broken that day, and a camcorder was used.

WKMG’s Rowe noted that no one was sitting near Anthony. “She clearly begins to breathe heavily just a few moments into watching the news coverage,” Rowe said. “She bends forward, then she almost begins to rock.”

Holfeld added, “She drops forward, she’s breathing heavily, almost as if she’s going to fall over, then catches herself, head bent down.”

WOFL-Channel 35 anchor Bob Frier also highlighted that “no one seems to be approaching Casey to talk with her at all about what it is she is seeing.”

Remember, this is Casey Anthony we're talkin' about here. The only reason she was upset was because she KNEW she was busted. Now, she got off scott-free. There is no remorse, no guilt....the only panic attacks occur when yet another major media outlet says "No thanks, we'll call you"...which is show biz for "Lady, I wouldn't touch this story with 10 ft pole!"
