Whether you are pushing 40, 50,
60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck), you'll probably relate.

Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us plenty of time to care for our newly acquired mustache.

In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wing spans.. We are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squirrels in drag.

Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can see your rear
without turning around.

Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the only time someone will ask you to appear topless.

Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and scream,
"Listen honey, even the Roman empire fell and those will too."

Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves and we're sitting on our
biggest ones.

Mid-life is when you look at your know-it-all, beeper-wearing teenager and think: "For this I have stretch marks?"

In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can retain is water.

Mid-life means that your Body By Jake now includes Legs By Rand McNally -- more red and blue lines than an accurately scaled map of Wisconsin .

Mid-life means that you become more reflective... You start pondering the "big" questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy Choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice?

But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important. We realize
that breasts sag, hips expand and chins double, but our loved ones make the
journey worth while. Would any of you trade the knowledge that you have now, for
the body you had way back when? Maybe our bodies simply have to expand to hold
all the wisdom and love we've acquired. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to
it!

Hi Bearly. Sorry I missed you. I plan on skating it again, not sure when the next competition is though. My sister will not be in charge of the video camera this next time.

I want to see the previous one.  We all had a stake in it, voting and such.  Just sayin'.

Well, kids, it's time for another "Cancer is Funny, Dammit!" Installment:

So, last week, after my forced incarceration at the hospital (they thought they could break my monkey habit, silly people!) my Doctor, who is named after a great cartoon character, said he'd call me on Tuesday with my pathology reports. So, Tuesday I do nothing but hang by the phone and watch NCIS online. Mark Harmon was snarkily hot, but the DR did not call (my surgeon, not the good Doctor Who...who, by the way, still owes me a sonic screwdriver). I did not do the paper that was due last night...I think maybe I'm not caring so much anymore about the papers. Or maybe I'm just distracted...what with this drain thingy hanging out of me and the tiredness and the being upbeat for family chit.

Anywhoo...I had to call my Dr. office to ask about this rash on my chest...I think during surgery they put a sterile field down, and the glue doesn't agree with my aging but tender skin. Nurse "OMG! I'm-So-Sorry-I-Gave-You-The-Wrong-Lab-Report says "Hasn't he called you with your path report yet?" I say no, and tell her that Dr and I have agreed that I will never ask anyone but him for lab results. She laughs, and says she'll have him call me.

so, he calls me, while I'm asleep (naps are GOOD!). I call him back, his office pages him (he's in surgery all day and I tell them it's no big deal (I will burn in hell for all the lies!) so he calls me from OR. He doesn't have my file in front of him, but does remember that 4 of the nodes were cancerous, and that they didn't get the whole tumour. Well, CARP! Shietz!

So, he tells me he'll call me later and talk more. So, I break all the rules at class last night (yep, damn skippy I went..I did leave 1/2 hour early cos I had to get to the ice cream store and get a hot-fudge brownie sundae before they closed  ) and left my phone turned on and guess what? He never called!

So, again, I'm in the holding pattern. I do know I'll have to do chemo (remember, my mom is hoping I'll get curly hair out of the deal) and radiation (saving money on the electric bill,I won't need any lights for awhile). I don't think I'm mad at him because he didn't get it all, or that he didn't call when he said he would. I think I might be mad that this obviously isn't as important to him as it is to me. I mean, geeze, doesn't he get it yet? IT'S ALL ABOUT ME ME ME! LOL! That's so hard for me to even say, as I've spent a whole lifetime making it be about others.

So, that's my non-informative update. I think I might be suffering from Obama care before it even gets railroaded voted in!

It definitely is about YOU and if he doesn't call soon you may have to resort to visiting his office and start pounding on the desk!

I guess this just doesn't make sense to me, when my husband had those xrays on his lungs, we figured everything was okay, because we didn't get a call, and I told him to call, and it was like yeah, we found a mass  And four years later, we aren't sure what kind of mass they took out of his lung, it wasn't cancer, but he had the MRSA virus or infection. It's maddening, and to think the health care could get worse

ITA No Rose - the thought that it could get worse is frightening.

I know, and the doctor we go to the wait in the waiting room is bad, I think that will get bad also. I try not to go to the doctor, because I'm scared. When I had a bout of irritable bowel that was so bad I had to go to the emergency room, and when they were done with me they suspected I had rectal cancer. After different tests, which were unbelievable in themselves  and being scared silly, I was constipated.  Even my husband said we are not going to the hospital again with this, we will take you to a gastro doctor before this happens again. And I won't even get into the mistakes and not following the doctor's orders on xrays for my husband's shoulder

    I saw some video about that this morning on the news, I was speechless.
