Morning Monkeys, bad night/morning with Josef. He seemed to be doing so much better, ate loads of food. Woke me up this morning around 4 and had to run down the stairs and he had horrible diarrhea. Finally fell back to sleep, turned off the alarm and came in late. He had it again this morning. It is awful. Please keep praying for him.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. I am so tired I can't keep my eyes open.

oh dear, just when you thought he was getting better.  I hope you both have a better night tonight JSM and you get some rest.

Cookie, so glad your grandkids are excited about school. You are such a wonderful grandmother. My grandmother bought our school clothes when we were little. She did a pretty good job, except the night before school pictures she decided to give us a perm.    Probably the worst school picture I ever took and to tell the truth all my school pictures were pretty bad up until High School

Good morning Monkeys!

Trim -Sidekick sounds like such a hoot!

We're supposed to travel to see our daughter in a few days.  Hubby has a bad case of poison oak.  Got him anti-itch cream yesterday and will get an antihistamine today.  It keeps spreading. He had a sleepless night.  Was hoping it would be gone before we see our grandsons.

Have a good day Monkeys!

Bless his heart Can, maybe he should go to the doctor and get some steroids, it should clear it right up.  an angelic monkey Hope he gets better.

Thanks JSM - Didnt know that steroids might clear it up.  If there is no improvement he will see the doctor tomorrow.
Right now we're throwing everything at it but the kitchen sink.
They do, I hate taking them, but they do work for any kind of itch. I get a shot when I get the hives, I won't take the dose pack  I could eat a mountain gorilla and still be hungry. I refuse the dose packs as I gain at least 15 pounds when I take them. Hope what you are doing tonight works and if not get him to the doctor.  an angelic monkey

Unfamiliar with steroid dose packs, but after what you say, will steer clear of them.
He says he will go to the doctor tomorrow, if not improved. but I noticed tonight, while annointing him, lol - there are some dry areas now.  YAY!

CAN, I'd never had dealings with poison oak or ivy until we moved to Texas...Hubs and I both came in contact a few weeks after we moved in.....Didn't have a doctor and no idea what to do.

Went to the pharmacy and showed the pharmacist the rash, she showed us what to get, the cleansers, anti-itch creams etc.  Also said it would continue to spread if we didn't make sure to cleanse it well because of the oils if not completely washed, skin, clothes etc. and that pets are one of the major culprits bringing in on their fur!

Anyway she told us to use a cleaner such as 409, Fantastic Mr. Clean .....Any of those, spray all over the rashed area and rinse well......Should stop it from spreading and we had immediate relief, after which we used the cleansers and creams.....She didn't say not to use on open sores so may want to check first if he's scratched himself raw!

Babs - thanks, you Monkeys are great!
Well that it is interesting and good to know if there is a next time.  Would never have thought of using a cleaner, such as you mentioned on skin.
Since he has open blisters not sure about using but can see the benefit in the initial stages to get rid of that potent oil.
I got buro-sol today it is an antseptic powder that you disolve in water and suggested by the pharmacist.  He puts rubbing alcohol on it - ouch- attempting to dry it up, then gold bond and calamine lotion and antihistamine tablets.
He has had poison ivy numerous times in the past and stays well clear of it if he sees it, but was not aware of poison oak and so he was slow to react to the rash.  When I first noticed it on Sunday night, it was red and angry looking, seeping and an area swollen and raised about the size of an egg.  Thus the horse was out of the barn so to speak.
he says he didnt mention it to me because he knew he was not around poison ivy.
He did pick oak leaves though, and I looked up poison oak on the net and sure enough it was the identical looking leaf.
Thanks again for your help.   an angelic monkey
Bless his heart, he has to be miserable. Aveeno makes an oatmeal bath that is good a soothing the itch. Poison ivy/oak doesn't bother me, my brother is highly allergic to it so like Babs said, make sure he gets all the oil off if not, other parts (if you know what I mean) will get it as well. He doesn't want it down there.

he has taken so many showers in the past couple of days I've lost count.  One in the middle of the night - while I soundly slept.

OH, i know what you mean ! and so does hubby!

an angelic monkey Thank you Can, it is better. When I went to pick Josef up today, the vet met me in a room, he told me the stitches are out, no more cone of shame  We talked about the tummy problem that happened and he said it is going to happen because of his irritable bowel disease. We changed his food and he ate too much last night which may have triggered it. He told me to keep him on the new food, no nothing but food, chicken in it and if he doesnt eat then so be it he will eat when he is ready. I asked about if he will be incontinent from the surgery, he said if he jumped off the bed, waited on me to through on clothes and run down three flights of stairs.... NO he is not and will not be incontinent

I am on cloud nine right now, Josef is acting feisty and very funny.

Thank you monkeys for all your prayers and good thought and care for my Josef. I am hoping he is on the mend.  an angelic monkey
