What about the rubber soles of a sneaker?

Natalee was wearing those rubber thongs? Yes?  - how long would it take for those to disintegrate in sea water?
Could some of it hold up?

I believe that a diver came upon the remains sometime before the Persistence came along
and untied the bundle.  That is why the tarp was outside the trap.
Probably scared the carp out of the diver when he/she saw the bones.

Kyle speculated that scavenger fish could have made that tarp move, ocean currents perhaps too.
But we know from that detective and his brother someone was well aware of that cage and it's contents.
I do not believe in coincidences.

Yes, loose lips gave the coordinates, iirc.

Well Kyle certainly knows much more about ocean currents than I do, but I think that was a little of
CYA.  I don't think it would have moved the tarp and not the remains.  JMO  People knew she was
there.

Not sure if pure rubber would disintegrate.  A vinyl/rubber mix...not sure.

I wonder how Someners (forget how he spells it) how he fits into all of this and if he is allied with Dolf Richardson

I was thinking the same, can.....have flip flops, sandals and other shoes with some kind of composite sole....not sure what it's made of but it's likely it would stand up for a while, regardless of the environment.  That's why recycling has it's rules.

I would think rubber would float though if it were just a small piece from say the boat or a thong.

I think the rubber like soles would float up and wash to shore, once they were freed.
I have seen a couple them come in with the tide.

Would flip flops (I call them thongs) float away?

You and Magnolia are thinking alike....do I have to do an experiment with my flip flops in the AM?  I know some of the shoes are heavier than others these days.  My preference is the lightweight ones (with composite soles).

I think regular beach flip flops are a plastic...jmho.

I'm thinking they were "Rainbow" sandals.

Yep, that's the brand.  The top was leather, yes?  The sole, I don't know, but suspect a heavier composite material.
