Defense attorney Cheney Mason wants Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis, who handles homicide cases, added to the witness list.

Mason's motion said the defense team recently learned that Lewis may have testimony under Brady v. Maryland, which requires prosecutors to fully disclose to the defendant all exculpatory evidence in their possession.

It's unclear why the defense is seeking to put Lewis, who is not prosecuting Anthony's case, on the witness list. A call to Mason's office was not immediately returned.

The defense also wants to call Jeffrey Danziger, a well-known Central Florida psychiatrist who frequently testifies at criminal trials, as a witness.

There is a connection between the Casey Anthony case and the search for bodies at Charles Manson's last hideout.

The cold case investigation involves a deserted ranch in a remote area of California.

Scientists who examined that case are the same ones who studied the air samples from Casey Anthony's car.

After we put in a public records request, it took almost three months and a county commission vote for News 13 to get a copy of these law enforcement sensitive reports prepared for authorities in California.

Casey Anthony's defense team filed a handful of items in her first-degree murder case late Monday, including a motion to add a state prosecutor to their witness list.

Defense attorney Cheney Mason wants Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis, who handles homicide cases, added to the witness list.

Mason's motion said the defense team recently learned that Lewis may have testimony under Brady v. Maryland, which requires prosecutors to fully disclose to the defendant all exculpatory evidence in their possession.

Lewis prosecuted the state's case against Maya Derkovic, who, as a jail inmate, befriended Casey Anthony. Lewis is not prosecuting Anthony's case.

The defense also wants to call Jeffrey Danziger, a well-known Central Florida psychiatrist who frequently testifies at criminal trials, as a witness.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- It's one of the biggest cases in Central Florida, but the Casey Anthony case is also drawing interest from all over the country, including celebrities.

Kim Kardashian posted an update Monday on her Twitter and Facebook accounts about the case.

"Anyone keeping up with the Casey Anthony murder case? What are your thoughts? I can't wait for this to go to trial. Its so disturbing," she wrote.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A hearing is expected to begin Wednesday morning in the Casey Anthony case, less than two months before the start of her murder trial.

The two-day hearing will focus on motions regarding scientific evidence in the case.

Judge Belvin Perry will be deciding on whether a jury deserves to hear what scientists hired by the state claim they found in the car Anthony drove around while her daughter, Caylee Anthony, was missing. ::snipping2::

Local 6 investigative reporter Tony Pipitone said he expects prosecutor Jeff Ashton to attack Logan in any way possible, including noting that Logan resigned last year as the director of the Washington state crime lab after judges lost faith in its blood alcohol tests.

Evidence like what state experts want to present regarding human decomposition have never been allowed in court to help prove a murder case in the past, but prosecutors believe they have a chance.

Ashton has a history of getting ground-breaking scientific evidence into court. In 1987, he obtained the first conviction in the United States based on DNA.

If I read it correctly, the state (and the Orange County Sheriff) is trying to give Yuri a break, and not have to waste his time in the courtroom when he is not needed during the three-day Frye hearings.

I think it is a reasonable motion and I am willing to bet it is granted. I believe it should be.
