IMO, that little temporary blackout/transfer to the outside where we saw Kathi was getting ready, was deliberate ... maybe to insure no leakage of sound ????? Because, I think they were discussing the newest motion that Jar filed just this morning---perhaps after 9 a.m. He refused to tell her about it & told her to go look it up in that exit video. I still say Baez was very shook &
livid
as they left. He even pulled the old "Mark Geargos-talk-on-the cellphone-as-you're walking" routine.

Lovely, thank-you
The mystery expert has to be someone in the medical/mental health field, not sure exactly where they are going with this, but it won't be the Flip Wilson/Devil made me do it routine, it will be look what mom did to me routine. I will bet money on this. And I also will bet money on the sexual abuse angle, which if they can make a jury believe this, it will garner sympathy for sure.

Ooh! I soo agree. Baez was so upset he was nearly in tears. But that's still no reason to act like he was 6. What I would really love to see from now on is for Kathi to ignore him and treat Cheney like the lead attorney and ask him any questions she might have. That would really get Bozo's knickers in a twist!!

Hmm. I think so too. Maybe that's why the A's weren't in court today. I think they've been talked to by the mitigation expert and now the groundwork is starting to be laid. I bet they are trying to show that they were somehow to blame by being abusive, unsupportive, whatever...; they're going to now try to show what a bad relationship they have. Although I don't think that particular ploy would work thanks to all the lies and coverups they already spewed forth in support of KC. I think it may be Lee who's being thrown (or diving?) under the bus. I think GA is a little too self-centered and hung up on trying to be the next John Walsh.

Present and accounted for! Uh.... what about Nebraska?
Hi Wyks! One of the expert witnesses is from Nebraska ... can't remember which one ... or what side they're on ... I was too busy trying to figure out where the expert entomologist for the State was from in Indiana (IU or Purdue?) Purdue I hope!
Hi Newfie!
Thanks for 'splainin that! Overslept today, missed the hearing <boooo, hiss!> and have been pedaling to catch up fast.
That's likely Tim Huntington then. He's a bug expert (forensic entomologist) in Nebraska. I think he's on the wrong side of the fence in this case - for the scream team. He's probably been around too much formaldehyde or sumpin. heh.

But Perry also made it clear that he will be scrutinizing the billing for every expert the defense brings in to make sure it's a good use of taxpayer money.
"They can bill whatever they want to bill," said Perry. "
What they get paid is a horse of a different color

Thanks Ono! Would have loved to have seen Judge Perry's face when Baez was explaining that!!

Seems like Lyon talked about the case at that conference I posted above.
DISCUSSING HUMAN RIGHTS IN TEXAS; AYERS BANNED IN MONTANA, I-PAD: What Is It?
<snipped>
So much for media educating the public.
There was a lot of discussion about the outrageous amount of incarceration in this country and in this state. Prisons are a three billion dollar a year business and they keep a lot of people employed—and contained, especially people of color. They are, in the view of these activists, the new slave plantations, institutions that punish the poor and make the rest of us feel superior.
There were some deep if academic insights until Andrea Lyon got to speak about her experiences as a lawyer representing inmates charged with capital crimes. Her big case is one in which every American knows about if only because every media exploited the case to death.
It is the case of Casey Anthony the Florida based mother of a pretty young daughter named Cayles who she is accused of murdering although the evidence is hardly definitive.
Thanks to Nancy Grace on one of the CNN networks, this story became an almost nightly soap opera in which no detail went unemphasized, ad nauseum, and no accusation was disregarded. Her mother was turned into a monster with little mitigation or even counter argument.
Her lawyer, straight outta Chicago, a large, brilliant woman who disdains makeup and calls Gil Scott Heron her favorite poet, has been demonized along with her client with constant bashing by bloggers and journalists who seem to reject the very idea that her client deserves a defense. Most of the media has been hostile too as if she killed the child.
Her association with case has prompted a steady stream of invective residents of the Internet sewer. She is the author of the acclaimed “Angel of Death Row.”
She is suing the State of Florida for funds for the defense which it sounded like she expects to lose before she can even mount it, She compared the experience to the Salem Witch Trial, although it sounded even worse. It is like Alice in Wonderland, “first the verdict and then the trial.”
Hearing all this makes you sick and angry, especially at media people who get caught up in the ratings game that drives the murder porn industry, The sicker the story, the bigger the audience. No wonder Andrea is considered an angel of death row. He has won awards for being among the best representatives of the poor in America. You can see it in her bearing: she takes no shit and can out argue the most demented DA.

Judge Allows Casey Funding Records To Remain Open
Hearing Held Thursday At Orange County Courthouse
POSTED: 11:59 am EDT May 5, 2010
UPDATED: 4:41 pm EDT May 6, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. --
A judge denied a motion from Casey Anthony's lawyers on Thursday to seal all state records indicating how her defense is funded.
In the motion, Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, said their case could be compromised if every invoice that they submit for reimbursement from the state becomes a public record.
Baez said the public disclosure of the invoices could lead to "rampant speculation as to the defense strategy."
"Closure is essential to a fair trial," Baez said. "I can't imagine the floodgates that would open."
Now that Anthony has been declared indigent, she qualifies to be reimbursed with state tax dollars for certain expenses.
Prosecutors argued that since the public is paying for Anthony's defense, "they're entitled to know what they're paying for."
Last week, Judge Belvin Perry said Anthony's money matters are urgent because there are two more hearings scheduled for next week, when the defense is likely to have to bring some of their experts to town.
Perry did rule that some information in the records could be redacted and specific situations may require hearings to determine whether information should be sealed.
The defense needed to have authorization from Perry to begin spending money. The team also needed to know how much will be available.
Perry launched in to an exhaustive examination of the list of experts the state should pay for on behalf of Casey Anthony's defense. Perry whittled down some of the spending.
"If you're only going to have one testify, why do I need two?" Perry said. "No sir, one."
Perry did grant most of the 20 experts the defense asked for. He rejected a $6,000 allocation so the defense could buy and run tests on two Pontiac Sunfires, identical to the one Casey owned.
Many want to know where the money is coming from.
"In general, I think the public probably has a right to know what they're spending taxpayer money on," one resident said.
The hearing was held at the Orange County Courthouse.
Defense attorney Richard Hornsby has experience with similar situations.
"I think it's a fair request, and it's in line with what Judge Perry has already said he would allow them to do," he said.
Anthony is in the Orange County Jail being held on no bond on charges of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
Caylee's remains were found in a wooded area off Suburban Drive near the Anthony family home in December 2008.
Anthony maintains a nanny by the name of Zenaida Gonzalez kidnapped Caylee.

Thanks NorthernRose.
Yes thank-you
She is suing the State of Florida for funds for the defense which it sounded like she expects to lose before she can even mount it, She compared the experience to the Salem Witch Trial, although it sounded even worse. It is like Alice in Wonderland, “first the verdict and then the trial.” WTH, I just know I'm living in a parallel universe
For an attorney to speak like this on a active case that has not gone into trial, would that not taint the jury pool? Or is that their game plan and why they are not in agreement in wanting the jury sequestered?

That could very well be, this is the most confusing and frustrating mess. Taint the jury and delay is their game plan.
