Melissa Jenkins left the Boise police headquarters in tears Monday afternoon, and later police officials confirmed why: The body found in a canal between Boise and Kuna Monday is of a boy about the same age and size of her missing 8-year-old son, Robert Manwill.
http://www.idahostatesman.com/eyepiece/story/854612.html

No picture, no source. I wonder where they got the information that she left the police station crying.

I will not comment any further because I am afraid of what I might say.

Well, I'll say it. I am shocked that she was allowed to leave the police station!  Oh, I forgot! Don't jump to conclusions........
And where is the boyfriend was he at the police station also?

dunno! they don't say.  if not he will be soon. jmo

Maybe he is still nursing his "bad back." I still think that is what grampa meant.  I have tried to find his interview again, but I gave up. I though I remembered him saying something about his son being on the sofa as he "was down in the back." Getting rid of an 8 yr old is hard work, I suppose. JMO

LOL!

That's not what the article said.
The BF said Robert was down in the back. Meaning in back of the apartments playing.
----------
Daniel Ehrlick Sr., a former Marine who served in Vietnam, said he thought he saw Robert on the day he was reported missing when he stopped by Ehrlick Jr.'s apartment to drop off money to help pay bills.

"(Ehrlick Jr.) told me that Robert was down in the back. When I came to the door, I don't know if it was then that I spotted it, or I spotted it before, but I spotted another boy that looked just like Robert with a white T-shirt on," Ehrlick Sr. said.

Bless the first responding deputy's heart that dived in and pulled the body out of the canal. I am sure he/she will be haunted for a long time, if not forever by this. Keep them in your prayers tonight too.

Yeah,  I would think deep down he thought it was Robert.  He is the only missing child.  Very brave and very caring.  This community obviously cares a great deal and wants answers to what happened to Robert.

Holy crap.......good thing he didn't flow to the Dam  There would be nothing left of the poor child!!

NUTT, I am pretty sure that is where the water is coming down from the mountains and is diverted to the canal. The canal flows generally south, although it does meander.

What color did they initially say Robert was wearing when he went missing?

What color did they initially say Robert was wearing when he went missing?

Investigators have said Robert was wearing a blue Superman T-shirt at the time of his disappearance.

Although the first reports were that he was possibly wearing a brown shirt with writing on the back "Andy don't need no Mic" or a blue shirt with a superman symbol on the front. He had on blue jeans and black shoes.

OK, I am glad you found it. I concede. I can quit worrying about it.  I still wonder why the old man had to bring him money to pay the bills.
I also wonder if it was a half-hearted attempt to say he was there that day when he wasn't really sure. Do we know who really saw Robert the last time and when?

More than likely it was a farmer or a farm worker that was passing by. JMO

I am glad I was able to find it and clear it up for you. I tried to earlier but you must have missed it. This thread has moved so quickly the past couple days.

He says "he believes" he saw someone that looked like Robert, which is why were speculating when he said that when was Robert saw last by someone other than the mom or the boyfriend. When did his daddy last talk to him on the phone? He could have been a day or even two before he was reported missing. It coincides with his friend's "truck" going missing.

Could have been dead and yes I agree with you, I think dad was either a.) attempting to give his son the benefit of the doubt or 2.) lend credibility to Robert actually being alive on Friday.

It has been another sad day, when a missing child is moved from the missing thread, to the found dead thread. We have seen this occur over and over, and the shock, anger and pain never gets any better. We can rail, and cry, and ask why, but it continues on and on with no answers in sight. Each and every one takes a toll on us, but even more so for the families and friends that have to endure this forever.

I know this was not in God's plan. He must be very disappointed in the humans he has intrusted this earth and these precious lives to. He gave us all choice. Why some make such bad choices, is something I cannot comprehend. I am not perfect, Lord knows I have made my mistakes. But the taking of another life is not one of them I have made. Who am I to judge? But I do.

I know God has a forgiving heart and can understand what we cannot. I wish I had a forgiving heart. My heart does not get hardened to this agony, it just feels it more each time. What a waste of perfectly beautiful human souls.    an angelic monkey

Body of a juvenile boy found in New York Canal

Posted: Aug 3, 2009 04:09 PM

Boise, Idaho - The body of a boy was found in rural Ada County early this afternoon.

Police have not ID'd the body as of yet. What we do know is that this boy was found in the New York Canal which also runs next to Robert's apartment complex near Vista. As a crow flies it's about 8 miles, or 14 miles miles of water way. The people I spoke to said it is entirely possible that a body could have made it all the way out here. There are grates but they are large.

A disturbing scene at the New york canal this afternoon, as police pulled the life-less body of a little boy out of the water. Police tell us two people saw the child floating and called 911. An Ada County Deputy rushed to the scene, jumped in, and pulled the child out of the water. Speculation is swirling that it could be Robert Manwill, although police have yet to confirm that. They did say however, the boy matched the age and size of Robert. A press conference on the missing boy, originally scheduled for 2:00 P.M was cancelled just minutes before getting started. Spokeswoman Lynn Hightower confirmed it was because they were investigating this body. Police had most of the area around Deerflat Road just West of Cloverdale cordoned off as they worked the scene. Roberts family remained clear of the canal, and stayed at the police station while all this happened. The coroner arrived at the canal just 40 minutes later and took the child away to be identified. The family has been notified that the body was found in the canal. An autopsy will be performed by the coroner tomorrow afternoon.

Well said Ms. Fanny and I agree with you 100 percent. It never gets any easier.

God bless our little man Robert. A little man with little angel wings now.
