Just wanted everyone to know about the flooding we had in central New York. Most of it came as flash floods with major damage to the area. I live in Delaware County which is right between Albany and Binghamton. Binghamton area got it worse than we did.

I just got my electric back and the computer is on the 2nd floor so my dh said it would be okay to use. We need an elctrician to assess the damage done to everyhting else. I can't wait to get water and phone. WE went from dry to a housde surrounded with 3 feet of water in 10-15 minues. I truly understand what a flash flood is now. Within another 20 minutes we had 2 feet in out living area. The water in the house has receded, but it is full of mud and has an awful stench. We had no time to put stuff up, so who know what is salvagable yet.

Roads are washed out, bridges gone, and an apartment collapsed. I think this site has some pictures if you want to see some of the damage.

So, please be thinking of any Monkeys in this area. I haven't posted much lately, due to the lack of news, but was pretty active earlier on and in the chat room when it was up.

Please pray for my friend, Steve.  He is going thru radiation right now at Emory for a rare form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.. for the second time.  He is young, creative, talented and I have known him for years (barbershopper).  I saw him last nite.  He looks good (he's bent because he said I look better bald than he does ) and is gearing up for a stem cell transplant probably the end of July.  He'll be in the hospital for 5-6 weeks.

Along with all other requests, keep our family in your prayers.  Dad, 89, just was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, after a fall at home sometime Saturday 6/24.  He broke no bones, and had just a few bruises, but doesn't remember it.  We need guidance and strength to get through what's to come, for his memory will inevitably get worse.  He's strong willed and very independent.  Has been told he can't drive and has tried to start his car the past two days.  I have the ignition keys, and my dh and bil made it 'not work', but it's going to be a battle until we can get it out of the yard.  I am on vacation, and we've been rotating time with him.  But will get more difficult as time goes by.   When the roles are reversed, you don't know what to do....it's painful, and I've had one of those acid kickback stomaches for a few days, now.

2NJSons_Mom:  I am praying for your Dad and you and your family. You have to get his car out of the yard ASAP. If he can't see it, he will forget about it, just like he forgot that he fell down. When parents get dementia, it's very difficult to deal with. They have been strong and protected you and now the roles are reversed and you are strong and have to protect them. You are in what is called the "Sandwich Generation." You are in the middle, caring for children and caring for parents who have become children. There is a good book called "The 36 Hour Day," a family guide to caring for persons with Alzheimer's, related dementing illness and memory loss in later life, by Nancy L. Mace and Peter V. Rabins. The book helped me a whole lot with my mother.

Please pray for my friend, Greg Don Jones, age 58. He was strong and vibrant and then he came down with a strange condition and he has been in and out of the UCLA Westwood hospital for the past four months. The doctors have no clue how to treat it. They have tried many meds but nothing has helped. His condition continues to escalate. The next step is that they are going to branch out into oncology meds. The only thing the doctors know is according to the medical journals, this condition has only been seen in 2% of the WORLD's population!

Louise, yes, I agree about getting the car out of Dad's yard, and said so the first day.  I no longer drive, due to an inherited eye problem, therefore, I cannot do it all, like I used to.  Dad does not know about my eyes, because I chose not to tell him...Mom had the disease, and he worried enough about her.  I can only do what I do and rely on those who can to help.  It's still gut wrenching.

Prayers for all monkeys, those who request it and those who do not because we all have our needs, some more foreboding but we all have unanswered prayers or unrequested prayers since we did not ask for them, and I try to pray for all who come our way.  Hugs, monkeys.  I thought about you in my prayers today.

Hey ya'll.

I've been mostly lurking, but need some prayers for my step-dad. He critically ill in ICU isolation. Admitted last Wednesday afternoon because had chills, low fever and couldn't get his breath. Fiday was moved to ICU. Saturday was moved to ICU isolation. Sunday was put on ventilator. Although had oxygen mask on Saturday night, he was perky and joking with us. During the night he went into crisis. He is currently stable, but in critical condition. Because of long holiday weekend, we are still waiting for many of the test results.

I don't want him to go like this. He is, of course, sedated and not conscious with the ventilator. Also, lots of blood coming from many places, but they don't think it's cancer. He has COPD, also.

Thanks for remembering us. I probably won't be on for a while.

Thank you Sleuth. I really appreciate it. We are not much better ~ still in ICU and still on vent, but he now has trac. Also, been on dialysis 3x because they blew out his kidneys with the mega doses of steroids, etc.

I think the underlying disease is pulmonary fibrosis, which is serious in and of itself; however, I think what caused the major crisis was the pulmonary lavage they did on Friday. Of course, no one will ever admit that or even mention the possibility. I know I sound bitter towards the medical world, but I think it's because I know too much.  :? Anyway, we are unable to get any response from him. That is the really sad part. I keep thinking it's because his body just cannot handle all of the Dilaudid they keep giving him. Nurses???

Hey, I've also honed my internet searching abilities since hanging with ya'll.  :wink:  I've found out all kinds of information about the lung doctor. Just had to be sure he was a good one. He is, although somewhat arrogant.

Please remember me in prayer for my health as it continues to be pretty lousy.  This heat and UV rays are just making me so ill with the lupus and now have a strange rash which is classic for that sun exposure but can't figure out how to care properly for my dogs and stay out of it.  Finances could be better, too.  My children's father has been a total disappointment in that regard and is involved with another woman now despite that we are Catholic I do expect they will be married soon which is fine but seems to make his checks to me later and later.  I am not well enough to work at at real job so it is a problem.

My brother in law was successfully treated at Vanderbilt for non-Hodgkins and is in complete remission.   :wink: Took something experimental I believe.  At one time I did not think he was going to make it but you should have seen him dancing at my son's wedding now that he is in full remission.  In fact he looks better than before he was diagnosed with cancer.

My niece on the other hand is not doing well with her treatment for recurrence of melanoma so please remember her as she is in the process of being abandoned by her husband and has a twelve year old daughter.  She does not weigh a hundred pounds and is 5'6" so it is not looking good for her.

My mother is 89 and going to have to have the battery replaced in her pacemaker.  Last time they punctured her lung so please remember her.  

Also my son that only eats raw vegan is very thin right now and so much so I am again worried about him not getting enough potassium in this heat.  I am afraid one of these mornings he won't wake up.  He is anorexic mostly since his parents separated.  But he is in total denial about it and says the rest of the world is fat, lol!  Kids!  Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em!!   :lol: He is by far and away the brightest of mine with IQ just off the chart.  He AP'ed Calculus II without ever having had a course as it is not offered at his high school so go figure.  Too bad he isn't smart enough to eat once in a while and something besides lettuce/spinach and diet Sprite Zero.

Anna, I am going to be praying for you and your family.  It sounds like a tough time for you.  I pray for strength and healing for you.

Memphis, I will also pray for your step father and your family.  I will also pray for the Drs and nurses to do the right things for his healing.

I regret I haven't checked this thread in weeks, each day lately just seems too demanding to accomplish all I need to do. I still set aside structured prayer time daily and nightly <a new good habit thanks to SM>, and always always pray for ALL of the monkeys.

Louise I will pray for JA and also your friend Steve. 2NJ I will pray for wisdom first for your father <that he will sense he must adapt to his new limitations> and for his protection from further spills, and for support for you and your siblings as  you traverse this large change.

Peaches, Steve is definitely in our prayers. He has the same disease a dear friend of mine did, who we lost back in the early 90's at age 38. Stem cell transplants were so new then, his came too late in his process to impact so glad to hear Steve's will arrive sooner. Also ponder we have Duke near to us, so if he would like to get a second opinion, we open our home to him and his family if we can help.

Memphis, I am so sorry to hear about your stepfather. I will pray that the doctors find clarity in his diagnosis and advance the best treatments for him, and pray for support and encouragement for you and your family. Many hugs to you.

Anna, you are always in my prayers for your challenges with lupus. As for your neice, just know 'active' tumors make patients lose copious amounts of weight with melanoma. It is a vicious cycle but if she has no brain mets then she could possibly qualify for the cutting edge program at Duke. So know she's welcome in our home if you think she would like to pursue seeing Dr Gollob. I will also pray your mother's procedure goes without event, and the pacemaker improves her health.

I've learned so much via this journey with Mr None's melanoma treatments, each week seems to present new challenges and so many of you monkeys have offered insight, advice, support and prayers. I can never thank all of you equal to those efforts, you have helped to sustain us more than perhaps you know. I was told within the first week that he could live for one week or possibly one year, I can only write that now, I didn't and couldn't at that time - it was just too painful.

We should know shortly after the 20th if what his oncologist suspects is true, that being they may have stopped the progression of the disease with the 50 radiation treatments and six weeks of chemo. So we pray and keep the faith her instincts are correct. Now comes the challenge of beating back the tumors so that he may qualify for Dr Gollob's program. A young woman we met the day we were at Duke with similar stage IV melanoma but no brain mets, is now NED - no evidence of disease. She and Peaches are our beacons now, we're reaching for what they have achieved and keeping the faith that we can. Thank you to Peaches for countless hours of sharing and caring with me  :D

We began this treatment track knowing several things, one that only 20% of all stage IV melanoma patients even respond to this treatment track; that there is no existing cure but only to buy time until one may emerge which is on the horizon for 2007; and that the full brain radiation would be costly and that many cannot endure the toxicity of such a rigorous treatment path.

Forgive the length of this for I wanted all of you to know, that against all of those odds, he is still standing. Much thinner having lost over 50 pounds in five weeks, also suffering memory loss and extreme fatigue and total loss of appetite, but he is still standing.

ALL of your prayers have contributed, that is my largest message, that the power of prayer does exist within our lives. I thank each of you for that first miracle, for assisting us in calling out to God for his help and support, and for also affirming to us how great humanity and faith can be in our darkest moments.

As always, pray for Natalee and her family.

I am not trying to win or lose any friends over what I am about to post, and am passing judgment on anybody, but I feel I should let you know how I've been feeling because perhaps some of you have been feeling the same way. I apologize in advance for the long post.

I have been very distressed over the unrest among us in the past few weeks. Some have left, some have hurt feelings, and there are rumors of backstabbing and talking about others. This hurts me...

I hope that some of these relationships can be mended for the good of us all. Harboring ill will or distrust only hurts the one harboring those feelings and I hope that if any of you are harboring any negative feelings toward your fellow monkeys, that you can take a moment out and try to pray about that.

I have never been so personally invested in an online group like this before. So many different personalities are bound to clash once in awhile; that's what makes us all unique. There should be no in-crowd or favored group, and there should be no outcasts among us. We should accept each other as the people who have been working together to find out what happened to Natalee Holloway and respect each other's individual choices and preferences without feeling threatened or offended.

I remember we recently had 2 very moving prayer chains where the love and hope and thinking of others and their needs and trials they are facing were lifted up to God's will. I hope that in all of this, we can truly remember what matters in this life, a life that we only have one chance at.

I love you all and pray for you often!

Please include my aunt Fanny on the prayer list, she is at the end of her battle with cancer at a hopice center.  Pray she goes soon and ends her suffering in peace and with dignity. Ill keep in touch when I can.  Thanks sandy leiva.

Sleuth, I wrote this as much for myself as I did for everyone else, for it is so easy for me to go back to this kind of behavior and have these kinds of feelings. I work hard to have peace in my life today, because in the past it was nothing but misery!

For my cousin Sharon... she has been struggling with a disease that isnt' curable... and unknown.  She had been living near family which helped, but not she has been moved to Texas where she is alone.

The disease is a form of vertigo... she is so dizzy all the time that she is unable to stand, shower, do anything we take for granted on her own.  She is the most kind person too... please pray for her.

Also for Kacky Lacky's family, Magnolia, South Ga Girl, JanFolkArt, KKail's grandson, and all those monkeys I am missing... monkeys with illnesses that we miss and don't see much of...

I'd like to pray for hardships Klaas and Lala have at this moment, I won't go into detail except that I'd like for us to pray for strength and resolution for both families.

As always, I would like to pray for Natalee's return to her family, for resolution and closure, and for justice.

I'd like to pray that Peaches continues to gather strength and success in her battle over cancer, and that she continues to remain NED and is healed forever.

I'd also ask beyond the many prayers for mr none, for prayer for our children, they are hurting as they move through this and at times fearful and confused. Son is alone and far away, and unable to open up to others about his pain.

I will pray for all monkeys and their hardships, as always.

Please pray for my son, who is an atheist.  I pray for God to touch his heart with grace and open his eyes and ears with faith.

Please pray for my friend Greg Jones, who is has been going back and forth from UCLA Westwood hospital for months due to his mysterious condition - hypersensitive vasculitis. The doctors have no clue and they are trying everything.

Please pray for the family of my friend LoLo's shrink, Sallye, who committed suicide over the weekend.

Please pray for clarity of mind for my daughter and her family.

Please pray for Israel, as well as Lebanon, Iraq and Iran. Also for Hezbollah and all extremist entities who want to take over the world.

Pray for peace in the world.

For the family of my nephew who was killed in a car accident and also my niece who is having severe panic attacks due to her cousin's death.  Her dad and his dad are brothers and her mom and his mom are sisters, so it was a double whammy for her.

Please continue to keep my sister in your prayers.  Her first round of treatments did not work, and has spread.  She has begun a new treatment of shots once a week.  I don't know exactly what that entails.

Also please continue to keep my brother in your prayers that he will soon be home.

Please pray for the grandmother of one of my daughter's best friends.  She is a sweet lady and I have known her all my life.  Her colon cancer has recurred and this time her treatments are not going well.  I haven't seen her in over 3 months.  I am worried that things are not well.  It shows in her husband's face when I ask about her and my heart is heavy over this.  She is in her 70's and a Christian, so I know if God chooses she will be ready.  Her name is Martha. At least this time, we won't have to pray for Jackie's uncle Mike, the last prayer thread got him released.

Magnolia is better, she told me in an email that she lurks and reads, just doesn't post....

Monkeys,  please pray for my stepfather Pete.  He is having dizzy spells and was on a heart monitor... pulse raced up to 170!  But believe it or not after exhaustive tests... there is nothing wrong with his heart.  We went through this several years ago and he went to Mayo.  We simply don't know what to do next.

His 92 yr old mother ELECTED (yes, she's stubborn) to have surgery for carpal tunnel and is hospitalized for an infection.. not doing well.

And also on this day (Wednesday)  my 2 baby schnauzer girls are both at the vets.... and since they are 10 and 13 they have to use anethesia to clean their teeth.  Don't laugh.. I am worried sick about them.... particularly Haley the oldest.

I would like to add, prayers for None, also, that she continues to have strength to guide her family and also have time to replenish herself.

I don't really need any prayers for myself. There were times that God carried me, but today the quality of my problems has so greatly improved, that I am truly grateful for my life and everything in it.

I will ask for prayers for my elderly stepmother who is 87 and has not been feeling well for a long time now.  This depresses my father who is 83 b/c he feels that now he is loving the 2nd love of his life.  My Mom died 29 years ago.  If you would please pray for them both I would appreciate it.

I also have a dear friend whose husband had to have emergency open heart surgery several weeks ago.  He didn't have a heart attack, but his Doctors felt he wouldn't make it thru the weekend without it.  He recently had to go back into CCU b/c he was having chest pains & almost fainting. Please pray for her husband and her (& family).  She is known to many of us here at SM, and a friend to the Holloway/Twitty families.

Please say a prayer for all the families of missing loved ones and for the safe return of their loved ones.  

Please also say a prayer for those who are being abused, either physically or emotionally, whether infants, childrens, adults or the elderly.  Please also include all the dogs, cats, etc, that are being abused and for those in shelters to find forever homes.

Please also say a prayer for those with addictions to find Recovery.  So many die before ever hearing that word.

Pray for our soldiers who protect us day & night, in peace and in war.

Please also say a prayer for J2K, Paulus, & the other suspects to find it in their hearts to have the compassion & courage to tell the truth about Natalee.  And for anyone with information to have the courage to come forward.

A hesitant request from me.  I am having a procedure  on Thursday at 1pm.  They are putting a stent in the main artery in my leg.  Nothing major, but still hoping for your prayers. thanks..

Thank you, Monkeys and I tried to say a prayer as I could while reading your each and every requests.  My heartfelt best wishes and prayers for all of you who are in need and all our friends and extended families, particularly for those in our military, their leaders and our politicians, for leaders around the world and for the land of Israel and pray for those terrorists whose lives are dark for they know you not, Lord, and I pray for their leaders, our leaders who might be led to the decision whatever it is that is Your will, and most of all, I give thanks for all for all friendships, for all the comraderie and kindnesses shown by each of you and give thanks for my Father above, who makes this all possible and ask that He answer our prayers according to His will and in His most divine wisdom, and that He lead us so that we conform to His likeness and His will, and that we accept His will in this life knowing that when all is said and done, He has done what has been best in each of our lives and that we will be thankful for even the tragedy which helped us face other issues and led us to greater understanding and guidnce in our lives and those of others in need.

Thank you, Tidy, for that beautiful request.  Many of us have children who are either agnostic or have backslidden from their teachings and we have grandchildren who might be the same or who are being raised in homes where that is not a normal part of their routine, and TidyCat, I will pray for you as well as all others whose family members need to know and see the face of God.

Please say a prayer for my son, that he can sort out what he wants to do in life, and takes action to do it.  He is floundering and unable to make the decisions he should.  He is ADD and life has been difficult for him.  Thank you, Maw

Could I please ask that prayer be given for my 8 yr. old nephew, Hayden? His Mother died suddenly, and I claim God's promise to turn all things to good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Her Mom is struggling with this, too.

Please, one more? My sister's custody of her kids is being challenged. Please know that as much as I love her, I would not ask that she prevail if it were not truely best for the kids to be with her. I know the situation well, and it boils down to an ex-husband on disability wanting child support, and he seems willing to do anything to obtain it. She goes to court Sept.1. Please pray for her and her 2 daughters.

Also remember my mother who is having her pace maker replaced.  Last time they replaced the batteries, they collapsed her lung.  She will be ninety in October so we are concerned about any procedure she has to have.

I know that I am new here, but I'm hoping it will be ok to ask for a prayer for something I am struggling with.
I need to make a career change, and I am considering a return to school for a paralegal degree. This will mean a financial and personal sacrifice for my children and for me, because I am a single Mom raising 3 kids alone for the past ten years since my divorce. I am trying to decide if this is the right way to go, and I need some guidance. This is a decision that will change the course of our lives, so I am really having a difficult time. Now that I am middle aged, I'm not sure if I have the energy to do it all, but I want to do something for myself now that the kids are getting older, and my job as a parent is almost done. I am very confused and conflicted.

Please pray for my continued recovery from this nasty bout with ovarian cancer.  Your prayers have carried me thru six initial rounds of chemo, surgery, tests and now three rounds of maintenance chemo with nine more to go.

Please pray for my mother, who has been in the hospital with a bad infection in here colon. They did a colonoscopy yesterday and things looked pretty good, but the infection persists.

Please pray for my father who is struggling every month to make ends meet for his family. He has a house full of kids and grandkids and has custody of one of his granddaughters (my niece), who has lots of major issues at her young 4 years. My dad is not in good health and does not take care of himself. I have been worried about him for a long time.

Please pray for my niece Jacqueline who is severely ADHD, has no impulse control, rebels against authority. Although, she has had a really hard life so far, she is such a loving and dear child.

Please pray for my sisters: one has major financial and work-related hardships as well as severe persisting migraine headaches. The other one is staying with us or would otherwise be homeless and can’t keep a job for longer than a couple of weeks. She doesn’t have custody of any of her children and recently gave birth to a stillborn.

Please pray for my pride and joy, my daughter, who God has blessed me with, who along with a relationship with Him, makes me happier than I’ve ever been in my life and has given me the will to live and grab hold of live with vigor and enthusiasm to embrace it, whatever comes my way. Please pray for her safety and health and happiness.

Last night I was going to write about him but after writing a note to None, my husband needed the computer, and I was not able to do so.

Actually, today - right now - he is undergoing an 8-hour surgery.  He had a 6-hour surgery last Tuesday, and then another today.  He has spinabifida, and the surgeries are to place a rod down his back and take care of other issues.  

His surgery last week went well although he lost a great deal of blood.  I have not heard yet today, although we were told at school that the surgery began at 2:00 rather than the 11:00 scheduled time.

So, yes, please put him on the prayer list, and I will be so grateful to anyone who prays for him.  He's 7 years old and was my student last year.  I have sent things to him this past week and plan to go see him as soon as possible.  I have told him that many people are praying for him.

Dear Monkey Friends ~ I've started this many times in the last few days.
I feel guilty asking for your prayers with the burdens so many of you are carrying.
Ten months ago, my husband's group was dissolved (with a high-tech company) ~ it took him 3 months to find another job ~ one month ago today when our son had just received his acceptance to law school, my husband walked in to announce that the ad agency he started working for in January had downsized by 35%.

He just looked at us and broke down. He is 55 years old. There is nothing on the horizon. I start back to teaching next week, and I am scared to leave him at home. He *is* making contacts and talking with people, but this go-round has taken its toll. He has admitted he is deeply depressed.

I'm so sorry to unload on you all ~ he doesn't want his parents or mine to worry about this, so there's no one to hear how worried I am about him.

Please keep him in your prayers. I love him.

Tidy, I remembered all our monkeys in need and I specifically remembered your request as that is the most dire of all needs.  I have a son who although he accompanies his wife and baby to church, I am afraid does not share her beliefs.  Her mother and I pray about that a lot, so I understand your request.

AZSunny is having surgery on her leg today.  Pray that the procedure is a success and she recovers quickly.

Keep my family in your prayers, regarding the care and wellbeing of our Dad, who has early signs of dementia.  

Tcumom, we went through a similar situation in '95.  Husband lost Director position with a company he'd been with for 26 years.  He also was depressed.  He saw a psychologist and took meds for a while.  Not saying that this is what your husband should do, but there is hope.  My husband has had 4 jobs since then, two he left on his own, one he could no longer do because of physical requirements and now has been on current job for a year.  He chose blue collar positions the last 3 because he didn't have the heart left for what he had been doing.  

I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Tyler, I just finished reading Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis.  I had never read anything by him, but saw it mentioned in a recent Time Magazine article about a scientist who converted to Christianity, primarily after reading that book...so I bought it.  I can see why it is so powerful.  If you have read it, you know.   Lewis presented an argument from reason for Christianity in such a clear and simple way.  Just the facts, ma'am.  Maybe you could leave the book at your son's home?   Right now, my son would not even consider reading it.

Last week my husbands cousin had a brain tumor removed.  He had two removed 6 years ago.  They just found out this morning, that even though they got most of his tumor, it is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer.  He was admitted into the hospital for chemo this morning.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.  His name is Aaron and he's only 34.  :cry:

May I please have prayers for a homeless man named Homer.

He is a young black man of slight build who lives most of the time on a bus bench in front of the gas station where I get my gas. Franklin and Argyle. He looks respectable at first. He appears to be clean and his clothes are clean and he keeps his stuff in a small suitcase on rollers. He lives there spring, summer, fall and winter. But not in the rain.

I've passed him hundreds of times during the past few years. I have much sympathy for the homeless and don't understand why it took me a long time to realize he is not waiting for a bus. Sometimes his head is tilted onto his suitcase on the bench and he is sleeping. Other times he talks to himself. Sometimes he stands up and motions his hands like he's talking to someone.  

It is highly unusual for a homeless guy of his small stature and vulnerability to exist for so long with all his possessions. When I come home late at night, he is not on the bus bench, so he found a safe place to spend the nights. I suspect it's 1/2 block south in a freeway underpass.

The last time I got gas, he was at the bench standing up and I went over to talk to him. I said, "Hi, how are you doing?" He responded to me but I could only understand a word here and there. I asked him his name. With clarity he said Homer. Then more gibberish. I caught the word God and I told him I was going to generate prayers for his well being because I knew a group of people (Monkeys) who would pray for him. Then the gas line clicked that my tank was full and I said goodbye. He kept on talking.

I'm always questioning and thinking about what motivates people to live in spite of bad luck, illness, obstacles, disappointments, losses, etc. Homer has a will to live. Maybe he can deal with his being homeless because he lost his mind and went into another reality. Maybe he HAD to do that.

Please pray with me for Homer. Thank you.

I have read the prayer requests in this thread, and my heart goes out to everyone in need. I will include everyone in my prayers and ask for God to give his blessings on each and every person in need.
I hesitate to ask for prayers, because I am blessed in so many ways. My children are happy and doing well, we are all healthy, and have some good friends and family. But as a single parent raising 3 kids alone, I have struggled financially. I just started a new job, and I am hoping I can give my children the financial stability they deserve. My prayer request is that God give me the strength to work hard, and the guidance to succeed so that I can be a better parent. Financial stress takes so much energy away from my children, and the worry keeps me from sleeping. I pray each night not to be wealthy, but to feel that we are on a little firmer ground.

Just a little correction:  My sister-in-law is having kidney trouble.  Prolly looking at dialysis (spelling).  Kidney functioning at 16 %.  Only has one kidney.

My sister continues her battle.  Cancer has spread to an area in her back and an area in her groin.  She is doing radiation 5x per week. No chemo at this time.  Last go around of that made her so sick.

Have you ever heard of Dave Ramsey? He has a radio show and has written several books (Financial Peace and Total Money Makeover for example). His philosophy is very simple and based on baby steps. He has a big heart for single mom's and their plight. I hear him interacting with them on his radio show all the time. You should check him out. Call his show and maybe get some direct help. Monkey friends, you may not remember my prayer request for my beloved step-dad at the end of June. Much has gone on since then. Well, he went in walking, talking, and joking, but 90+ days later, he is leaving us. No more heroics. We are leaving the vent on for now, but are removing all other tubes and stopping all meds but the morphine. We do not expect him to last very long and certainly not until the weekend.

She looks absolutely radiant...Please continue to pray for her. She has so much to live for and so many who need her!!

Please pray for the victims of Charles Carl Roberts, the victims families, and Charle's children and wife.  Charles Carl Roberts has selfishly destroyed all of these peoples lives.  Right now I cannot find it in my heart to forgive him.

Please, please pray for my 2 neices. They ran away today. Obviously they had discussed it, but they left from school at different times and they are not together. The youngest called my sister, wanting assurances that she could live with her and that if she came to her home would not be returned to her father, but would not reveal her whereabouts. The girls are 12 and 14 years old. The police have searched and visited every known friend's house, mall, recreation outlet, etc. They've come up with nothing. There is a custody battle going on, but the immediate danger is that no one knows where they are. They've been missing in Bradenton Florida now for 14 hours.

CBB -- And they are not even together -- how scary. Please keep us posted.  I pray for the safety of your nieces -- and their return to a safe environment.

Anna, the youngest, is back home. She made her way to her Mom's house and she took her home. By calendar, the next 2 days falls within his visitation rotation, and the police instructed her to do that.  The 14 yr. old is still missing and no one has heard from her. The FBI is being called in, and the police report classifies the 12 year old as "endangered" due to a statement she made while being interrogated by detectives, "If my Dad manages to run my Mother out of town, I'll kill myself".
Please pray for Claire's safety and Anna's well being. It's a totally unnecessary, ugly custody case with fabricated allegations against my sister. I know, she's my sister and I'm biased, but when it comes to kids, I take the blinders off and am able to look at reality. Their Father has single handedly caused tremendous pain for these children.

My sister and her ex had one of the nastiest divorces and custody hearings -- 25 years ago. And the games continued throughout the childrens' lives.

I wish I could tell you that it did not have an impact on the adults they became, but I would be lieing. 2 seemed to make it 'alright'. The youngest...well I look up the arrest records constatnly in the county where we think she is hanging out, to see if I can find her -- again.

I am so sorry, divorce is so hideous. I will pray for Claire to return to your sister's care safely. Hopefully the authorities can move to protect both girls, I will pray for that as well. Sometimes it takes authorities to reason with malicious situations, I know in my own divorce I prayed for intervention when moving two states away still did not stop the abuse.

It is a crime, those poor girls.

I am especially moved by the plight of the 2 children caught up in the custody battle. I went through that with my children 10 years ago, and my ex is still trying to control and abuse me. It is very damaging to the kids. Thankfully, mine have been able to rise above the situation so far, but it is not easy for anyone when one parent refuses to cooperate. And it is an all too common occurence, unfortunately. The situation with these girls makes me cry for their pain and fear.

This is the most horrible thing I have experienced in life . I did not realize what this decision meant. Basically, they are on a fast track to hasten his death. They are withholding all of his important medicines, including insulin and antibiotics, plus hydration and nutrition. Friday is the sceduled cut-off day for the vent.

I am vehemently opposed and am praying and begging for them not to withhold care. I am horrified, appalled and heartsick. This is passive Euthanasia and it is in direct conflict with everything I believe. Every life is valuable, even if there is suffering.

Please continue to pray for us. I am praying that my mom and the siblings will reverse this decision and give him care and comfort in his last days.

My heart breaks for you, I am so sorry. Rick's death made some profound changes in myself, some I still can't describe, but each week of his illness was filled with yearning for one more week and one more smile and one more kiss. The day we were told there was nothing more that could be done, I felt utter despair, well that despair is part of what you are feeling even now.  As Peaches can tell you, I wanted to pursue alternative treatments then but Rick chose not to, so to then stand by and allow this to happen to him was an overwhelming sense of panic mixed with despair.

Whatever the decision I can tell that if you can proceed with the philosophy that God ultimately makes all decisions, there is great peace to be found within knowing you can express your love to your stepfather each step of the way. In every moment you have with him, make sure he feels only love in your touch, your look, and your voice.

That you do have control of, the love that you share and how you honor and express that love. I will keep each of you in my prayers.

Thank you all so much for the prayers and concern. Still no word from Claire, but my sister took Anna to a friend's house tonight and talked for quite a while with her. She suspects that the friend knows something about where Claire is. Nothing firm, but the friend was pretty calm about the whole thing, and my experience with girls that age is that they are normally natural drama queens. Maybe I'm just stretching for something encouraging. The longer this goes, the more I fear that what I had hoped, isn't correct. I thought it was possible that some well-intentioned, but mis-guided parent might have chosen to look the other way and was allowing Claire to stay at their house. It's gotten too big for that. It's been on the news, and police are questioning everybody. Claire's cell phone, at first would ring before going to the message box, but now is either turned off off or battery has run out. Nonesuche, I know your emotions are still raw and to expose yourself to this must be so hard. I was caught off guard in this dilemma and I have only just found the words to clarify my thoughts. There is nothing morally wrong with someone choosing not to continue heroic attempts to maintain life. I have no problems with the practise of withholding food and water when a person is in their final hours and thier organs are shutting down. I understand that this is helpful and makes them more comfortable. However, we do not have multiple organ failure. We have lung "failure", which has been the problem from day one. He has been on a vent pretty much from the beginning. His body is racked with mutliple infections acquired at the hospital. He is very, very weak, but no doctor has said that we have other organs that are failing. By withholding food and nutrition at this point, we are causing his death. That is my horror. If his organs were already shutting down, then withholding basic care would be kind. In Terri Shiavo's case, the horrible thing was that she was not dying. They caused her death by withholding the basics of life.

I am afraid that we have already caused irreperable damage. He is incoherent and almost comotous. We have robbed ourselves of those last precious days or weeks by choosing this. I am not afraid to let him go, but I do not want us to kill him. I hope this makes sense.

I guess my point was that medicine has changed to some degree, I saw within Rick's care that some told us at the outset not to even pursue treatment as well? He did but it came at a cost, the treatment track he pursued was debilitating and likely hastened his death?

Doctors seem to not follow the absolutes of the hypocratic oath in this day and age, but rather calculate risk and reward scenarios? Each situation is different, each case is different, as is your father's situation from our experiences.

What I can tell you is that we have so little control, in the judgments made at times. So my ultimate point was to encourage you to focus as positively as you can on what you can control in this.

I regret I posted anything now, so sorry to have upset you. I wish you only support at this time.

I don't encourage idle litigation but it would appear to me, if decisions are being made you disagree with, that you might consult an attorney. If the hospital has contributed to his decline, an attorney could put a court order in place to stop the decision to euthanize.

I'm asking for a prayer. At this time in my life, I wish things were simpler. Life is too complex and overwhelming for me. I have a hard time doing simple things like regularly going to the car wash. I stress so much all month over the bills I have to pay at the end of the month that I can't enjoy the present. Credit card debt, car payments, $821 per month for health insurance. I wish I could find optimism and see the glass half full. I wish I could forgive and release my daughter but I can never trust her again and I can't forgive her. I have suffered catastrophic loss and I have no real time support system. I waste too much time doing nothing, trying to escape. I can't face housecleaning. I used to be so organized and on top of things but not anymore. I just don't care yet it hits me when I wake up in the morning and look around at my place in such a state of disrepair. I keep the outside looking good. I take care of my plants. When I go out in public, I look good and dress well. No one can see what's in my mind. I put on a good front, chat with strangers, but then have to come home and face myself. My kitten Guinevere helped a lot but she is going through a terrorist phase. I am lonely and isolated. I know I have a mission, I just don't know what it is.

Louise, I will pray that you find your way out of the distress you've described.

LV, Hugs to you.  My prayers have been sent.  Just keep trying each day. I know it is hard... each new day... say I can do this (and just do a lil at a time--even one lil thing)... your kitty feels your pain--much like a child, it just acts "crazy" when mommy is out of sorts--it's just trying to make sense of it all too.  I know this sounds too simple but it does work.  Make yourself go outside and just sit in the sunshine and relax--I know that will take effort (to relax) but just do it for at least 20 minutes daily--the sunshine vitamin is a cure all for me. What you arent able to see in your glass, we here can all see in your heart and it is way above the half mark :wink: ... we love you Louise!!

Today I'm just filled with how important it is we need to celebrate Natalee's life. For us, for her deserving family, for SM's contributions, for the goodness Natalee gave to this world in her lifetime most of all.

Please pray for my co-worker, Connie. She is a divorced mom of 3 young children. Six years ago she had breast cancer that went into remission. Last Friday she found out the cancer has returned and is in her bones.  :cry:

Thanks everyone for your Prayers, we lost Wendy on Tuesday evening.  She is now out of pain.  What wonderful things to remember of her though!  Such a loving giving spirit of love.  She was 52.

As I read the suffering and sadness here, my heart goes out to the gentle souls that chose to ask for prayer. There's humbleness, faith, and reverance in being able to do that. I join with you as the heartaches are lifted to a Sovereign God, our Redeemer, and Comforter.

This is my last Christmas in my home of 20 years. I have lost the struggle to spare it from the wreckage left by my ex-husband. I have been enraged, desperately bitter, and self loathing for my incredible stupidity and trust. Those feelings have kept me from being able to put my trust in the only place it is safe. God never promised me no pain. He did promise to give me the ability, through Him, to bring a different perspective on whatever life handed me.
I have been so richly Blessed to have had this home in which to bring up my son, and to have the memories that are not confined within it's walls. I carry those within my heart. I hope that its next occupants will find the warmth that I have experienced in this, their home, and that it will last. I'll put the house up for sale after Christmas, after I can clear away the clutter of 20 years.
It's a scary time for me and I'm holding a tight grip to an unseen hand, and trusting.......
My ex-husband is preparing for bankruptcy and I'm bracing for the fallout. The damage isn't over, and I don't know how many vices that were his alone and hidden from me, I will be held accountable for. I have made choices along the way that may come back to haunt me. I have consistantly pulled up when it came down to pressing fraud charges against him for forging my name or including my name to borrow money. Several times, I have discovered the action months or years later, but opted to not press formal charges. I just couldn't do that to my son, if there was any other way. I don't know how things will turn out, but I'm trying to take it one day at a time.
It's not original, but it bears repeating: I don't know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.
At this time of year when we celebrate the birth of the One who paid for our messes, our frailty, our sin, I'm grateful for the unimagineable gift that was given to us individually. That infant's hand that wrapped around Mary's finger, and was later pierced by hatred, extends from Heavenly places to reach out in love, power, patience, and undertsanding to each of us. As Jesus was with His disciples for the last time and facing the torment that was iminant, He was concerned for, and loving, you and me. He knew why He was taking the path before Him. I rarely look at this thread, so I don't know why I opened it today.  I just want to say, as a single mom, I can relate to much of what you said, especially your strong emotions; wounds are especially hurtful at this time of year.  But you are strong, you are intelligent and you certainly have your head in the right place, so you will be fine.  I would suggest that you find an attorney skilled in this type of divorce, to shield you as much as possible from having to share the fallout of your husband's actions.  I'm sure there are some innocent spouse protections but it would probably take a pro to be able to utilize them.  In the meantime, take comfort in prayer, in your son, and in your knowledge that things will be okay.  God bless you, CBB, now and in the New Year.

I also I think I shared with you once before, was married to a man that drove me into the poor house.  I lost my dream home we had built, and had no resources at the end of that long term marriage.  I even had to pay for the lawyer to severe me from him.  That was 12 years ago.  Through the grace of God, much of what was lost has been restored to me financially at least.  I had no children with him (thanks to a good decision I made unilaterally mid-marriage to have a permanent birth control procedure done :)  ) but I did have to raise two girls by myself after my first marriage self destructed.  I know you are struggling and trying to do the right thing, but I agree that you need a good attorney, because there are now laws that protect innocent spouses to some degree and they do not have the fall out bankruptcy does.  God has brought you this far.  It is just time for a new chapter in your life.  Step out in faith and all will be well.  I've been there.

My heart to yours, sweetie.  I can't say anything that will help your situation other than I am sorry and I am here if you need to vent to anyone.  You are welcome to email me...just let me know.  I have never been in your shoes and I see there are others that have, so my advice to you is talk to those that have been there.  They may be able to offer you some answers.  They say when a woman gets a divorce it instantly sends her in to poverty.  I know this isn't the case all the time, but from my own observations of people I know I see it does happen.  Then the ex just lets it all slide and things get way out of hand and the one that pays is the spouse that is trying to do what is right.  I so despise the "life isn't fair" motto.  It really stinks!   All I can offer is {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}

Please pray for my ex-sister -in -law, Viki. She has been very ill this past year and was brought home for the holidays with Hospice care.She has taken a turn for the worse and the Hospice nurse has advised the family that she probably has 24 to 72 hours left. Please pray for her daughter who is an only child and will be left to handle the affairs on her own.

I would like to request prayers for all the teenagers and young adults who will go out and do crazy things tomorrow night in the name of having fun.  Please let them be sensible and safe.

You are such a strong and good person, I can't bear to think he could impact you further so I do hope you can get the legal assistance you need to prevent that. You deserve good things in your life, you give so much so freely to others always.

Snoopy - my heart breaks for all I know you are feeling right now. Losing your sister so quickly as I lost Rick, well there just aren't words to describe how devastating it feels. Sending you many hugs and many prayers that God will assist you each step of the way for you so loved your sister. Christmas morning was quite hard for me this year, Rick's rocker sits on our porch and was the first thing I saw when I awakened and walked out to get busy with family breakfast and celebration. I wrote Lala's that for the first time in about a month, I let myself sit quietly and have that good cry. I also reminded myself that I know he feels my tears in heaven. Your sister knew how much you loved her, I am so sure of it. She is surely your guardian angel.

BT- I so hope your father improves and that they can arrest the pneumonia. I will pray for him for I know you must be very worried.

Cubbee- I'll pray for your ex SIL Viki too, it's so hard in these moments for her family so I will pray for a peaceful transition for her into God's arms.

I am ashamed to say, it's been a little while since I have been in this thread and I just want to say, I am speechless!  I have tears running down my cheek from reading of heartache for all the sad stories, but also in awe of such wonderful and beautiful people here.  

I would like to ask for a speciall blessing for two men who went to school together and started A Weblog , who have been discussing politics and life for years and were ready to share it with the world.  I wonder if Red and Tom ever dreamed they would bring so many strangers together from all over the world who would become such good friends and who are so loving and caring.  They can honestly say, they have changed alot of  lives.  Not only the members, but the awareness they bring to the forum, of the missing, the hurting and their families; and the awareness of events in this world.  Even the happy ones!

They are both truly very special people and God Bless them both!  And Klaas for all she does here too!

I am asking all of my dear monkey friends to keep my 15 year old son in your prayers. As many of you know he suffers from asthma and allergies and has severe acid reflux, four years ago he was diagnosed with a haital hernia. The pediatric gastroenterologist recommended trying to control it with diet and medication , which works well until the allergies and asthma act up and need to be treated, that in turn aggravates the stomach and he usually ends up being sick 3-4 weeks at a time. We have prayed alot about it and have had fairly good health with it until this past year when he started having alot of problems. He has been sick for almost 3 weeks now and is just starting to turn the corner to being well.
We had a long talk with his pediatrician who has treated him since he was about 3 years old. She is a very special lady and we have her home number and cell number and she is always there for us. She has advised us and we have come to the decision that we need to look into the surgery to correct the haital hernia . We are scared, but our son wants the surgery and as the pediatrician has pointed out , this will never change for him. He will do well until the asthma and allergies act up and then will be sick for a good month.The medications for the asthma and allergies wreck his stomach. I have many concerns over the surgery, it is a Nissan Fundoplication(not sure if it is spelled correctly), but I also have many concerns over how my son can carry on a normal life without giving it a try. I cannot imagine him making it through college, or every keeping a job when he has to drop out for a month at a time several times a year.
The plan is to try to "crutch" him through the rest of the school year and probably proceed with plans for surgery when school lets out for the summer. I am asking you to please keep him in your prayers. It breaks my heart for him to be sick and there is no medicine that can help him...

Please know my brother had a haital hernia and had surgery when he was 20, like your son he was an athlete and he did very well. It was a textbook case and his recuperation went off without a hitch. So I wanted you to know it can go well and the fact your son is in good shape physically will help so much.

As for the asthma I know the winter can and did excaberbate my son's. He would end up with bronchitis for a month during every basketball season without fail. Somehow he made it through and the asthma seems to have lessened greatly by the time he turned 18?

Nonetheless you and he are in our prayers !!!!!!!

A prayer please, for a co-volunteer, who is going through a nervous breakdown. Her name is Linda and has had a very negative boss in govt for the last year. Things piled up and hit the fan. She's 55; had postive evaluations for 19 yrs. and now this boss for 12 months.  She's scared she will loose her job and her health.

Thanks nonesie! It helps to hear from someone who has experienced this surgery. My son is onboard all the way, he is sick of being sick! We are on week 3 of being out of school now, and the prospect of him returning this week does not look good. He had a nasty case of bronchitis following a nasy virus. It seems the cold and allergies trigger his asthma, everytime we try to do the allergy shots it aggravates his stomache. We are hoping that they can do the surgery laprascopically as it is much more common to do so now.

Guys, I feel some shame to ask again to be remembered in your prayers. There are so many grave illnesses, loss and grieving, and heart aches that are being lifted up due to this thread that connects us to each other in one untied spirit. I visit here often and am honored and humbled to be able to share in such personal need. I take very seriously the pain that caused each of you to reach out to others and know that we are called upon to support our brothers and sisters in prayer. It takes trust and faith to do that. I've always thought that praying together is the most intimate thing we do on earth.

The concerns that I have brought here earlier are coming to fruition and I'm scared. I know that fear and the spirit of timidity are not from the Father, and I'm struggling to maintain the peace that assures and comforts me in the face of all things. Two days ago I found myself facing an inspector from the Attorney General's Office and a prosecutor who walked into my clinic unannounced to discuss the relationship between my clinic and the business of my ex-husband's. I have mentioned that my ex is verging on bankruptcy, and it is to the government's clear advantage to build a bridge between the two businesses. I have assets, he doesn't. My corporate attorney wants a retainer that would dictate my inability to meet payroll, and I'm relying on truth and total cooperation to lead me right now.

I would so appreciate being remembered in your prayers. I just want to be held and surrounded by His protective hands. I want to be guided and dictated by His wisdom and led, without straying, to His purpose for me. I pray that those who are in positions over me make determinations and decisions that will not harm me.

I have ached for my Mom's strength, and my Dad's comfort and wisdom throughout this whole thing. It's irrational, but truthfully, I'm lost without feeling "I belong and am inextricable part of" someone as I did during a 20 year marriage. I have never felt so alone and abandoned. All of those feelings are misplaced and maybe I'm where I am because my heart hasn't truly learned what my head knows. I'm not alone; God will never abandon me. I have a promise of comfort and wisdom that is not subject to death. I do belong to Christ: He suffered and died to make that so. I'm supposed to rely on Him. If there is any way to make sense of why I've experienced heartbreaking loss of loved ones, this place I find myself in right now, holds the answers. Push has come to shove, and I have to walk and live in that surety. Please help me do that with your prayers.

I gotta go straighten my face up and push forward. I've been trying hard to gather the information I was told to produce for the OIG. The office has scary authority, and tell you up front that they are "educating" themselves for the purpose of dismissing complaints, levying or reclaiming funds, or discovering grounds for criminal charges: against ME! It's intimidation tactics, and the guy is very good at it!
OK. I can do this. None, I can't tell you what your sentiments mean to me. We've stood together for a while now in those "Heavenly Places" and you've just squeezed my hand that's held yours while you've been in such a painful place. I'm squeezing yours back!

Being alone is new and foreign to me, and you've taken that away during a really hard time. How do I say thanks for a gift like that?

THE BUTTERFLY

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We could never fly!

be strong and simply don't allow him to make you react, for you know you have done nothing criminal and yes it is a tactic and a nasty one. Deep breaths and move through the motions repeating to that official that you will cooperate for you know you have done nothing wrong. If he sees your quiet determination he may rethink his tactics. If not just know you will endure.

I am holding your hand and many hugs too, I know God will guide you. You are strong and you are deserving of good things, remind yourself of this and don't lose hope.

If ever I needed a prayer, it is now, for Cynthia Ireland and Marc Jaconski and their baby boy who was born two months early at 3 1/2 lbs. Cynthia is fine and lives near Cedars Sinai where she gave birth. She is spending all her days and nights sleeping near the baby and her mother drives back and forth every day from Santa Barbara. Her parents sent a beautiful shower announcement and I called today up to Santa Barbara to RSVP. I spoke to her father who told me the baby shower is on hold because the baby came two months early and they are waiting to see if the baby recovers.

You have been interested in my adventures and I can tell you a short story but it belongs here and not in the adventure thread.

My husband's mother was Muriel (3 children) and her sister was Gladys (9 children). Muriel died and my husband Jack died in 1986 from AIDs. They are all buried in a cemetery in Duarte. I visit them now and then, and bring flowers, a spray bottle of Windex and paper towels. I clean the markers, I bring a scissors to trim the grass, etc. Gladys died last September and the service was in Santa Barbara.

When I met my husband (1962), I was introduced to the children of Gladys, all nine of them. The years pared down the relationships so that I am friends with two of Gladys' children ... Barbara and Mary. Barbara is my first cousin through marriage. She has three daughters ... Mary, Kathy and Cynthia.

Have any of you heard of Kathy Ireland? If you have, I want you to know that Cynthia (who had the baby two months early) is Kathy's sister.

Please pray with me that Cynthia's baby survives and becomes a normal child.

There are and have been women in your situation.  You are not alone.  Have you tried contacting a Women's Bureau??  There are attornies with reasonable fees to assist women  in crisis.  There is more than one kind of abuse.  Perhaps they could give you the names of a couple attornies.  I don't want to diminish the power of prayer (and you have mine), but your case sounds a little complex.

Buckeye, It's good advice. I'm not aware of anything quite like that, but will do some checking. Healthcare is such a specialized legal field and there are so many regs you're subject to: Medicaid, Rural Health, Medicare, OIG, DHS, and each has manuals of regs 5 inches thick. I have a manager of 3 other Rural Health Clinics as part time just in an effort to keep me in compliancy. Since I'm not positive what exactly the OIG is looking for, and they won't tell me, I suspect the reason they are asking for such a wide array of stuff: from original patient charts to tax and income documents, to employment agreements, is to fish for anything that could possibly tie in with my ex's business. He is in healthcare as well and owes back a lot of money to Medicare, and is going under. There's implications for me there as well. The divorce dictated he would continue payments on my car and house, but he's already been unable to make those for 2 months.
It would require an attorney very familiar with both healthcare issues and maybe tax and family law as well. I won't let it go any further without representation. I've produced everything they've asked for, and been as cooperative as I possibly can, but atty's that deal with gov'mt issues are highly specialized and highly paid. The retainer alone would close my doors, and I'm praying that they'll look at what I've given and let go. If not, I have to take steps to be represented reguardless of the outcome. My son was injured playing football for Western Ky and the surgeon who did the repairs said he will not play again. The burden of college is now mine instead of a scholorship, and the financial ruin will be accomplished whether they find anything or not.
I'm not without hope. To the very best of my knowledge, everything is as it should be, and I've made a diligent effort to assure that. It's a new business and I'm pleased to be operating in the black at all, but can say with surety that no one could possibly look at my own income from it at this point, and make a case that I'm in any way taking advantage or "milking" anything!

I went for more tests at Mass Gen today and they discoverd another serious bleed and I am scheduled for more surgery next Friday. This one will again be IN the brain.

You will be in my thoughts and my prayers.  I don't know if you read my previous comments about your condition but my DH had two aneurysms in his brain and had two major surgeries for them and now he is fine again and working full time.  It is a terrible thing to go through and even worse in some ways for your loved ones to just have to wait and pray.  I know that you will be in good care and surrounded with love and prayer.   If you  to talk about anything you are welcome to get my email address off Klaas - just mark your email to me with Art Colley or Monkey or something like that so it does not end up being eaten by my spam filter.

THank you. I am thanking God that I didn't have aneurysms..at first they thought that is what it was. But it was just a huge AVM and after reading my surgical notes I realize why this one was not totally apparant.
They knew it was another small bleed, but it has gotten worse and is inside AND outside the Dura...scarey stuff. The first time it was an emergency and they had to act fast. We have the advantage of a planned surgery this time at least.
I know what your hubby went through and am so glad to hear he is doing well. God Bless him!
I will try to get an email to you but not sure when. I have to have complete rest this week..this angiogram took a lot out of me and then they did all the pre surgery tests today as well. SO...the Doctor told me I can go from the bed to the chair and not a lot of walking.

I am still under the influence of the "magic cocktail" they gave me so, I hope I am making sense!

Mass General is really wonderful, I agree.  I am amazed at the efficiencly there, not to mention the equipment they use!!!
TRaffic was a bit held up there today due to the supposed Bomb THing that Red posted about on the front page. I was pleasantly out of it, but the people were talking about it later in the afternoon. I guess it created havoc for people trying to get to the hospital .

I do have the utmost faith in my physician and his team. You are right, he is like an angel. He came to see me right after a surgery to tell me the preliminary results for me from his associate and part of his team. As soon as he entered my room, I calmed right down. He is a very gentle soul, very humble and sweet. But, WHAT a BRILLIANT man!

I just got to this thread to get caught up on prayer requests. I'm sorry I didn't get to see this sooner. My heart hurts for you and is very heavy for what you are going thru'. I want you to know that I will be holding you up in prayers alongside with the other monkeys. I know you  know that Jesus is carrying you, just like in the poem about the "Footprints".  Be comforted in the truth that He's not gonna put more on you than you can handle. Trust in Jesus, don't be afraid. Stand tall, hold your head high and be proud. Don't let the enemy wear you down, you reject him and tell him to get behind you, you are a child of God's. Ok.  I always do it right away so I don't forget and then I remember again later when I pray for the whole crazy mixed up world including those close to me and me.  I asked for faith and calm and trust and strength as well as a speedy recovery.  God bless you, Artcolley.  Put your faith and trust in Him.  For me, it helps to close my eyes and mentally "picture" God -- however you picture Him.  I've visualized myself walking with Jesus, listening to Him read the Bible to me, etc.  Whatever visual image comforts you.  Try it!  I find that when the mental and physical are more than I can take, it seems to work to calm and comfort me.

It did indeed!  My husband was stuck down there for hours.  MGH was able to cure a serious infection my son had and almost lost his arm back in 98, something that we  were terrified to go through.  I've been there so many times, I can drive there without getting all stressed out.

Dear Art Colley, I haven't been around much but I just checked in tonight and saw that you are having surgery next week.  I will keep you in my prayers that all will go well, that God will guide the surgeon's hand, and you will enjoy a quick recovery.

I am also asking for prayers for my daughter who unexpectedly lost her job today as a paralegal.  She is in shock and is devastated.  She had no idea this was coming and we are very worried about her.  Your prayers for help for her in getting through this and finding another job soon would be much appreciated.  TIA.

I am totally embarrassed to say that I thought this thread was locked and so I ignored it and didn't notice that it was getting longer or the date of the last posts.

But people mentioned several times today on the lively that they had read here so at long last I opened my eyes and came over.  I feel so awful that so many of my friends here have been in pain and I have not even known it.

I feel like I have gotten to know you all - even those I've never directly spoken to... from your posts your personality, opinions, humor, etc. impact me greatly and I consider you friends.

So I apologise for not knowing of your suffering and I will include each and every one of you in my prayers.

i would like your prayers on tuesday of next week...my dad will be undergoing back surgery. he has a herniated disc and bone spurs pressing against nerves and has been in some awful pain for the last 3 weeks. my dad was such an active, physical, do-it-all type person and this has been such a shock to him and my mother. i know all you monkey's will help me lift him up in prayer for a successful surgery!

I got a call this morning - my little nephew who just turned one last Sat. was put into the hospital with RSV.  They said his breathing was at 70% capacity and he was in pretty bad shape.  My SIL is spending the night with him tonite.  I'm not sure if we should pray more for little Nicholas or for my brother who is at home babysitting the 5 and 2 yr olds.  LOL

Sorry, and thanks for looking it up Sam.  The little fella is struggling to breath and sleep.  They put a brace (like a piece of wood) from shoulder to hand to keep him from bending his right arm as it has an IV in it.  He is pretty mad about that - seems like he will definitely be right handed! ha.  He does think the plastic tube is worthy of biting though.  

There's been progress but he can't go home yet.

Thanks everyone.  After 3 days in the hospital little Nicholas went home tonite.  He isn't out of the woods but his oxygen was closer to 90%.  His mom will stay home from work and continue the treatments there til he is better.

Hi everyone!

Please say a prayer for my mother.  My mother called my sister at work today with chest pains, tightness in her chest, and shortness of breath. Her bp was 132/102 and pulse 124. She's been having chest pain for a few months now and for years heart palpatations, and was scheduled for a stress test later this month.

My sister took her to the emergency room and they admitted her into the hospital to run test every 6 hours with EKG. Her bp is around 124/78 and pulse almost normal. So it seems she is stabled now. They are keeping her over night for observation and run more test.

I pray that she is not about to have cardiac arrest on us and pass. She is only 72 yrs old. I'm not ready for my mother to leave this world just yet. She has a lot of  unneccesary anxiety and stress in her life from my nephew. Going to try and convence mother to come live with hubby and I. She is so hard headed and willful will take a lot of fast talking.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE:
My mothers EKG came back abnormal but the docters feel she did not have a heartattack but not positive. (Tipical navy hospital) They are sending mother outside to another hospital that has heart specialist. She is also scheduled for Thursday for an echo cardiogram sonogram? She is also a borderline diabetic and takes pills for it. Today her bloodsurgar was high so they gave her an insulin injection. She is stable now and they are releasing her to go home under doctors directions to relax and take it slow.  Like my mother will do that. She is so darn willful. I guess it's what keeps her feeling young. If she stopped she may die, or so she says.
Will keep all informed.

I'll attach myself to Tidy's post .....prayers for all of you, and your loved ones. Art, CBB the Cuz, beans, Tidy and anyone I might have missed ......I didn't know not because I don't care, but because I have not been too great myself....but I am doing a lot better now and there is light at the end of the tunnel....I fractured 2 vertebrae and my tailbone the first weekend in November....yes, I did sumptin' stupid...fell off a very tall ladder....anyway....I have a terrific Ortho who has me in a very confining back brace and for weeks I couldn't even get up to the computer....was mostly flat on my back...trying to avoid surgery...so far so good...I promise to check here more often and continue to pray for all of of us and Natalee....

Sunny, I am sorry to hear you hurt yourself that bad. I bruised my tailbone once and that hurt, so I cannot imagine the pain you must have had, Get well soon!

I just would like to let everyone know that My Mom is finally moving to a rehab tommorow,(again). Two weeks ago, I rushed my Mom to the hospital for emergency surgery. She has been through the ringer in the last two weeks, and a couple of days I didn't know if she was even gonna come home. She had a perforated bowel, and was becoming toxic. They did the surgery to correct that, removing part of her intestines, and yes, she has a colostomy bag on. She has Multiple Sclerosis, and just  November had broken her hip. I went to the hospital every day for the last two weeks to see her, as my sister was in Mexico.Mom developed fluid in her lungs, they said from her heart. Mom was talkin stupid and saying she wish she could just "walk off the earth". She is depressed. However, today, for the first time in the last two weeks, she looks better and she sounds more hopeful. Prayers have been and will be appreciated. The monkeys are the greatest!

None,  you are right - it is Cuz's DAD and I am sorry I goofed up Cuz but it's the thought right?

Little Nicholas is at home - his mom has stayed home from work to give him treatments.  That RSV stuff is serious.  Poor little feller... but he wasn't home 5 mins. and he was pulling his big sister's hair and laughing so you know he'll heal faster at home.  

Everyone else in need - keep the faith and know I pray for you daily.

Hey guys. I'm remembering all and Art, I know the time's approaching for your surgery.........you are steadfastly being lifted for total healing and easy fast recovery.

I have a prayer of thanks to share and also one of concern:

I just got in from the hospital. Many of you may remember a special friend I have mentioned on occasion named John, who I work with. We were on our way to a funeral for an employee's husband when we had a bad wreck. I was driving and a man exiting from a nursing home complex, pulled right out in front of me onto the four lane I was traveling. I didn't even brake, there was just no time. Thank God for airbags, and thank God I wasn't speeding. Both cars were totaled but the man is just fine despite having to be pulled out of his vehicle with the aid of the "Jaws of Life" cutting off the roof of his car. John's knee was shattered and shin cracked. He is in the hospital and will have surgery tomorrow. I have a fractured top vertabra and am wearing a collar and ankle brace, but I'm fine.
I'm so very grateful, that God was merciful and allowed us all to be "fixable". Even though the man was cited for causing the accident, I can't imagine living with the knowledge that a vehicle I was driving was involved in a fatality. God knows what we can deal with, and He protected me. Of the three of us, he's the only one that walked away without a scratch. I can't even describe the horror in my gut when I got my bearings and couldn't see him in the car. After impact my car crossed the grass median and stopped 3 feet into the lanes of oncoming traffic. It was a miracle that no other car was involved. Thank you God!!
Please remember John and the surgeons tomorrow...............he's on a morphine drip and in no pain right now, but I'm worried about long range repurcussions.

hi Elaine...thanks...actually the tailbone hurt worse than the fractures for a while....then they all hurt like HELL! :wink:   The back brace although extrememly confining and restrictive has been a key element in my recovery.  And has kept me out of the surgery theater. :D

WOW your Mom has been throught the ringer.....and I am pleased to read that there is some improvement...I will make sure my prayers include your Mom....

Sunny, I'm glad that you're feeling at least a little better; I know you've had a time since that fall.

Y'all have probably heard/read about a poster called FocusFactor, from The Clue Bus (I don't know if she ever posted at SM), whose son, a paramedic in some icy state up north, was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident; he's in very serious condition and his prognosis is uncertain.  Posters from several boards have been lighting candles and praying for him. Lots of posters have put aside their differences in this situation to express support for this grieving mother and this young man who has helped so many others in his career.  I thought some of y'all might want to remember this young paramedic in your prayers, too.

Sunny, I am glad  that you are feeling better.  It sounds miserable, but I'd say you are lucky your injuries were not much worse if you took a fall off a tall ladder.  

My hubby spent 2 weeks in a trauma center following an auto accident, and we got to know the other patients pretty well.  The most serious injuries were from ladder falls, even more so than most of the auto accidents, including one quadraplegic.  It certainly has made me leary of ladders.

Hi guys. I wanted to see if there might be any word from ArtColley. She's in my thoughts and prayers.

Update on John: The "knob" on the upper end of the bone going into the knee was broken off and pushed into the bone. The surgeon was unable to salvage it as he had hoped, so he replaced with a plate and screws. We'll just have to wait and see if/how much that will restrict motion range. There will be "arthritis like" pain there and again, we'll have to wait and see to what degree. Right now he has a catheter inserted in the groin with anesthsia being delivered constantly to block pain from the area going to the brain, and he's comfortable. That comes out tonight, because they want to see how tolerable the pain will be before sending him home. He will be strictly prohibited from ANY weight bearing on that leg for a minimum of 3 months. That includes driving.

The 75 year old driver of the car that pulled out in front of me is sore, but is doing well. Thank God.

I'm really stiff, right foot remains too swollen for a shoe, and could play connect the dots with bruises and make anything you want; in general, I  will be just fine. I do have a bit of a worry that may turn out to be nothing other than degenerative arthritis, but the "axis" that enables head movement has been comprimised..........it's what you WANT to break when hanging someone from the gallows. There seems to be some concern among the radiologists reading my cat scan and they want to repeat it tomorrow after the swelling has had a chance to subside a little more. In the meantime, I swore to wear the coller even while sleeping, not to raise my arms, and to lift nothing. Since I don't really feel like moving furniture right now, no problem.

I had a total hysterectomy 15 years ago, including ovaries, thus it's probably just lack of estrogen, but one side of the space around that axis is collapsed/fused. Worse case scenario is that it was crushed by the "whip". Either way, it's a good thing I know it, and carnival rides are a thing of the past. I can live with that.

Thanks for the concern, and prayers. Please continue to remember John..he's got a hard road in front of him, and I'm trying very hard to be OK enough to help take care of him when he's released.

mishy That was a beautiful post.  You said everything we all try to say.  Like a lot of monkeys I read here when I can and send a silent prayer to the All Knowing One for help, healing and comfort for my monkey friends and their families or anyone else that may be mentioned.   It always includes those whose give their time and often their lives to help others, especially those in emergency situations or war zones.  I am sure God knows who I mean and I leave it to Him and His angels to do what is His Will.

I want to ask for your prayers for a friend of my mother's. She just found out today that her sister has lung cancer and it's gone to her brain and is in her bones. This woman has had a couple of strokes and was under impeccable doctor's care for the last several years and this was never detected. They thought she had another stroke yesterday, but it was the cancer letting itself be known. My mom's friend and her family are all in shock, and they know that the cancer is too far gone... Please pray for this family!

I also wanted to let you know that my daughter's grandmother emailed me today to let me know that her cousin's 5 year old daughter had died today of a brain tumor. She's had it for 4 years and she finally lost the battle today. Please pray for her family...they are devastated, for they have lost their baby  :cry:  :cry:

I just read that a past co-worker/friend of mine passed away Monday, 2/12.  Don't know the details, but do know that she was a loving, caring individual who always called me to check in.  We'd talk at length about the good & bad going on in our lives.  She leaves daughter & son, their spouses & two grandchildren.   She was only 64.

She had struggled in the past couple decades.  She had lost her retail job in her town when the store closed, her husband left her forcing her to learn to drive & take a course in business skills.  She worked with me a short while, but her job ended up being eliminated.  She then cared for & lost her parents.  I have no doubt she is with the Lord.

FRIJOLE, your StepDad and his Mom are both in my prayers.

Regarding your two baby schnauzer girls, I would be worried sick and do every time my 17 year old has to have ANYTHING done that requires going to the Vet! At these ripe ages, they do become fragile.

Ahhh 2NJ, bless her soul, for she sure has had a tough time of it. Thankfully her struggles are over and she is with her Father now. Prayers for her family, as I know they must be struggling with grief. We never want to lose our mother!!

My prayers are for everyone needing them.We have a branch of St.Judes in Huntsville,Al,now I am happy.because the children need it.CAT

My Dad was taken from the nursing facility to the hospital a couple hours ago.  Emergency room Dr called to tell me he was not doing well.  Low blood pressure, perhaps congestive heart failure.  This all started when he caught a stomach virus going through the place on Monday.  

I came down with that sinus thing again yesterday, so I'm here waiting for my brother or sister to call.  

If you can include Dad, thank you.

OH no, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Will certainly keep him in my prayers.

At least it sounds as though they caught it fairly quickly, and can replace lost fluids with IV, and monitor his lung status for evidence of CHF.

Thank you, Tibro, BT, bb...anyone I may have missed....it's a little more complicated.  His directive restricts a ventilator which the doctor wanted.  He's just on oxygen & meds to bring his blood pressure up.  Last report the meds brought his BP up but not much.  Breathing with oxygen is labored.  Doc mentioned pulmonary edema to my brother...only good sign is that he didn't want to be in the hospital...wanted to get out & go home.  

I'm grasping on here.  How many chances does an 89 year old who will be 90 in a couple weeks have?  Saw him this past Saturday...he was fine...that is what life is all about.  Doesn't make it easy...and I do appreciate your prayers...yes, indeed.

I'm sorry if I'm doing this wrong, but she's asked me over and over if I've done this and she forgot to mention that her user name was all in caps.

She's scheduled for another cat scan at 1:30 and if it's ok, she'll be able to raise her head and be back able to have her laptop. The hematoma is still on her knee and so she's still on bedrest and blood thinner.

She told me to get the last entry from her photobucket and post here, so I hope this is ok. She also said she was sorry that she was late for helping with St Patrick's Day, but that she'll try to make up for it.

If this is in the wrong place, could somebody please do whatever is needed to move it? I want to tell her it's done. Thank you

OMGosh, thanks Klaas ! I knew she likely was bedridden for some reason, I am so sorry she's been hurt so severely but also glad she's minding the doctor's orders so she can recuperate !

I'm asking for a super duper prayer tonight for my Armenian neighbor, Aram, who is 39. I've klnown him since 1991. He was a heavy drinker of vodka shots throughout the day and evening. I'd tell him I was depressed about something and he would say when he's drpressed ... he drinks a shot of vodka and it kicks the depression out of his mind.

Anyway, I was secluded for several days and went to get my mail and noticed a worried wife talking with neighbors. She told me Aram was short of breath one night, she drove him to the ER in a hospital in Glendale, and they immediately sent him to UCLA medical center for 15 days.

His liver has totally shut down. Fluid builds up in his abdomen so she takes him every other day to have the fluid drawn out.

He lost half his weight. The docs say he has to become stronger before he can have the transplant because he could not survive the anesthesia. So he was sent home to get stronger.  But every day, he is weaker than the day before. He cannot walk without assistance, he only eats a little bit.

I visit them three times a day and he looks worse everytime I see him. I saw him sleeping and he looked dead.

I've discussed with the neighbors: he is clearly dying. I went to visit this evening and neighbors told me they are at the hospital, which alarms me as they took him to the hospital this morning.

Please say a prayer for him that his passing will be easy and he will just feel like he is floating away and leaving the illness behind. Please pray for his wife and teenage son.

I'm so sorry to have worried anyone! My little CBB, should have posted sooner! It's my son, and I'm grateful that he managed at all. He even went to my photobucket and got the last avatar I made!

I've graduated to a hard neck brace that sits on my shoulders, but anything's better than that head vice! I'll be fine. Thank you for your prayers and concerns. I love you guys and you mean more than you could possibly know to me! My sweetheart of a Dad passed before midnight 2/14, but on paper 2/15.  He didn't go without a mix of fight & smiles, but it was peaceful in the end.   He'll be laid to rest on Monday.  Yes, our hearts ache...he was quite the personality, and so well loved.

Thank you to all who prayed and continue to do so.  Know that I check here and will pray for you, your family & your friends, even if I don't respond personally to each of you.

LV, it's hard to read about Aram for Rick's cancer manifested in his liver and his hips, it is so debilitating. It's also quite painful so I pray they can relieve his pain and his wife and family can endure whatever outcome. It's a tragic situation, hopefully he feels how much you care and I think as Rick did, those who came to visit even when he was in his last days meant so much to him.

Thanks so much to all of you for your prayers for my neighbor Aram. A few days after I posted my prayer request for him, I went over to his apartment for my evening visit. Door was locked. Another neighbor said to me "Hospital again." I was shocked because early that same day in the morning, he went to the hospital to have the fluid drained from his abdomen and came back home. He must have taken a turn for the worst. I heard from neighbors that he had a complete blood transfusion. I talked to his son Arthur today and asked if the docs gave an estimation of when he can come home. He said, "No, they are keeping him." Aram's wife has been sleeping in a chair by his bed for all this time. She did not come home for a change of clothes or anything. So, sadly, I think he will pass away in the hospital.

I also ask for prayers for a dear friend who has  a type of muscular dystrophy .. and having a very difficult time right now suffering. :( and unable to  type.  :(  a VERY caring and helpful individual.  
  Also keep in prayers mentally ill folks.. I know I have came across a few since posting,, who can get help.. and choose not to. ( I am not being rude at all)..   I guess it resorts to the saying. you can lead a horse to water.. but you cant make it drink. One can only do so much to help someone in that case.. Sad thing is.. if the person admits to being ill... and knows they are.. and won't do anything about it?  How can yah help? I gave up a month or so ago. I tryed my best. I am now hated for it.. which is FINE by me.
  I am not perfect by any means whatsoever... maybe I need prayer for myself not to be so easy manipulated.. foolish me.

Angie, you are n't the only one who has tried to help someone who is mentally ill...I don't know if I ever told you about the guy with schitzophrenia who was homeless?  He didn't want to get back "into the system" by getting SSI, etc, so he continued to be homeless and see/hear things...Years later, I heard that he got on meds, got a job, and was a completely different person! I'm sorry the person you know won't get help. Some need more time than others...Maybe you could just pray that one day they will decide to get the help they need...

None, this member is in my prayers. I'm so sorry our monkey is having such drastic health problems...Please send them a hug from me!!

I would like to ask for prayers for my sister who is 2 years younger than me. Several of you know that she suffers from terrible migraines. Sometimes she's in bed in a dark room for 2 out of 4 weeks a month and has to take very, very strong narcotics. She has done everything we know possible to try and find the root of her headaches. She's been to a prestigious headache clinic in Michigan (I think) and she's had pain blocks in her neck and forehead numerous times. She recently went to a hormone specialist in Atlanta and they ran all sorts of tests on her and found out that her adrenal gland is not functioning at all.  Apparently she has absolutely no cortisol in her body. I don 't know what all of this means, but it's possible that she has some rare disease that she tells me can be life-threatening. I know all of this sounds really vague, but I'm just now hearing about it....

I gathered some information about the adrenal and cortisol... The outer layer of the gland, called the adrenal cortex, produces hormones including cortisol, DHEA, estrogen and testosterone. The centers of the glands produce adrenaline, the hormone named after them.

Cortisol plays a major role in the body's response to stress. In fasting, for example, it sustains the blood sugar concentration by blocking the egress of glucose into all tissues other than the critically important brain and spinal cord, while it simultaneously increases the breakdown of protein from muscle and other organs and hastens the conversion of newly generated amino acids to glucose to replenish the supply constantly being consumed by the brain.

Anyway, guys, I just don't know what to think right now. I've asked for prayers for her healing before, and now I'm asking for them again in a big way.

As Angie posted, prayers for all....anonymous SM poster, friends of SM posters....all inclusive.  In addition, mental illness is so often overlooked...the mind is an unpredictable thing....my neighbor & friend suffered for years....now gone....that's another story.

My faith tells me that a Supreme Being would know an anonymous friend in need of prayer.  Just a little thought is a little prayer.

I completely agree 2NJ. A positive thought or good wish for someone is a prayer.

BT, I don't think it is Addison's. She's actually gaining weight...It's a rare disease of some sort, but it is not confirmed that she has it. I pray that she does not and they can find the root of these headaches and this adrenal non production and do something about it. Her Dr. prescribed her something that she says isn't really good for people to take, but since her adrenal isn't producing anything at all, she has to have it...She's still undergoing tests...

Mishy, I will certainly lift your sister up in prayer.  I pray for the doctors to find out what her condition is and be able to treat her sucessfully.  Those headaches are debilitating.  I pray for her healing.

Prayer is THE most powerful gift we can give one another.

My prayers go out to all of you, and all the ones you ask the prayers for.

 There truly is power in prayer.

Sue and how heartbreaking it must be to see such a precious young life going through so much. My prayers go out to you, him, and his family. God does not set anything before us that we can not handle.

Please remember my friend that is going through cancer treatment, both chemo and radiation.  

Also, our sweet little Sue has a friend that has a child with leukemia ( I think I have that right) and needs our prayers too.  So please remember this family in your prayers as well.  


We also need to remember those with financial needs and concerns as well as all our sick monkeys.

Well, I didn't read Sue's request before I posted mine...but you guys understand anyway.

Please remember my friend Danette , who just lost her daughter in your prayers. Also my friend Denise who is having surgery in the morning to remove a mass in her stomache...

I also am asking for the monkeys to remember a family member who is in need of prayer , he is having a very hard time right now and needs our prayers....

Could I please ask for God's perfect healing for my friend, John? And if you could just remember me as I seek and trust God's purpose in every step my life is taking right now, I sure would appreciate it.

God Bless all the monkeys for out of the pure goodness of thier hearts they formed this group to help a family and pray for thier daughter. Where ever she is please God watch over her and her family. Give them peace in mind and in heart, let it all be resolved soon.

I pray that Saint Beuno to look over all the sick children and animals.

May God's hand guide the surgeons hands during Cubbeegirl's friend, Denise's surgery this morning.

God Bless the family that lost a daughter, let them feel peace in thier hearts that she is in a better place among angels.

I pray for LaLa's friend. and Thank God that Cubbee and her friend are doing so much better and continue to do so.

I pray for KatysMom little grand daughter to keep improving with the loving care of her son and her.

I thank God for my Mom getting through her surgery. I pray for her headaches to stop during her recovery and she can find a few night's of restful sleep.

Just checking in for the first time in a week.  I'm keeping the concerns of all our monkeys, along with their families and friends, in my prayers.  Especially today all those who live in the areas of the terrible storms and tornadoes.  I pray none of our monkeys were affected.  May there be help and comfort for all of those who were involved in these tragedies, especially those who lost loved ones.

I asked three weeks ago for prayers for my daughter who lost her job, and wanted to let you know that she started her new paralegal job with a very good firm this week.  She got a raise out of it and has a really nice group to work with.  This all worked to her advantage after all.  Many prayers accomplished this and we are so grateful for God's blessings.  Thanks for adding us to your prayers.

They say you have to close one door before a new one can open and it certainly seems to have been the case for her.  Best wishes to her in the new position.  May all her dreams come true.

Please remember a good friend of ours, Mateo, in your prayers. He was admitted to the hospital today with an unknown ailment in the stomach.  They are considering exploratory surgery within a few days. All tests are coming back negative for everything they can think of.
He is young man with a young family that is very worried about him.

Sorry to barge in here monkeys but I have an urgent prayer request. My neighbor, which is really more like family than neighbors, daughter is very sick in Children's Hospital in Birmingham. The little girl's name is Ella Grace and she is 5 years old. Her left lung is collapsed and fluid is building up on her right lung. Diagnosis is Pneumonia. Went to doctor on Thursday and they sent her home without any blood work or xrays. Parents are frantic. Please say a few prayers for this little girl for me. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Lala'sMom Prayers for little Ella Grace and her parents from this direction also.  It is heartbreaking to see children so ill.  She must be in so much pain.  I know you will keep us posted.

Thanks to everyone that are offering up prayers for Ella.  No improvements as of yet.  Just holding her own right now.  May be as long as 36 hours before things change.

Monkeys, sweet Ella is holding her own.  She has developed an air pocket just below her diaphragm that may require surgery.  Her lung is still collapsed, but her fever is down...still need your prayers.  Thanks.

Lala's, sometimes the lung will not inflate right away. It might take time.  That she is improving or holding her own is something.

I wanted to add this, not a prayer request but of a prayer of Thanksgiving and some words of this young girl who has seen and bit through a lot the last few days and had time to reflect on what it meant to her.

This was written by one of the girls in the tornado at Enterprise High School.

..What a nightmare.
Words can not even describe the events of today.
We were all sitting in the hall for a few hours for the "tornado drill".
Everything seemed so normal- then all of a sudden..
power goes out and then there's a gust of wind.
I woke up to find myself buried under lockers, cement walls, and the ceiling.
Everyone was screaming.. I couldn't move..
People were walking on the rubble that was on top of us
And I could feel myself being crushed.
My head was completely against my chest with my arm jutted out in an awkward position.
The stuff on top of me was bearing down on my head and neck..


Luckily, my fingers were stuck out of the rubble and lockers.
It was because of that that people realized that there were people trapped under there.
Everyone was screaming, praying, and I was just trying to focus on breathing.

A m an named Coach Harrison found me and held my fingers while we waited for the jaws of life.
It was honestly that man that saved my life for the large part.
Him talking to me and holding my fingers are really what kept me breathing and hopeful.
They finally were able to pull me out once the jaws of life had got there.
Couldn't walk.. completely covered in blood.. didn't even know who I was.

They carried me to a room so doctors could try to look me over..
I was surrounded by people who were in shock and hurt.

They tried to rush me to the hospital, but the ambulance was having trouble getting through.
A girl was in there with me, both of us on back braces,
and she couldn't even feel anything on her left side of the body.
One paramedic was sweet enough to get out and carry me to the hospital..

Finally I got in the E.R.
I got SOOO lucky and I know for sure that the Lord was truly looking out for me.
I ended up with whiplash, a concussi on, and cuts all in my head and back..
with debris embedded in them.

The girl who had been beside me under the lockers had passed away before they got to her.

This day has changed my life so much.
I know God has a purpose for me and my life.

If those lockers had fallen down just a few inches more..
I would've been completely crushed.

I've realized I am so much stronger than I had ever given myself credit for.

And I've realized that there truly are angels everywhere.
Ones like my paramedics, Coach Harrison, and all the others who helped me.. and others.. through this horrific day.

But knowing so many people have died, is the worst feeling.
It could've easily been me who didn't come back from unconsciousness and died.

I have often found that when I think my life is so messed up and bad something comes along and I find that I am doing pretty good today.  Counting your blessings is good at these times.  Thanks for sharing Tylergal.

Tyler - I really do believe that people who survive a disaster are destined to serve a special purpose. That young lady has been gifted with a perspective that eludes most people in a lifetime. Thank you for sharing her story.

Ella is having surgery this afternoon to re-inflate her lung and correct the air pocket under her diaphragm.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully this will solve the problem and she will be able to come home by next Monday.  Thanks to all that have offered her up in prayer.

Never underestimate the importance of being there for someone (like the coach).  Sometimes knowing someone is there is comfort in and of itself.
I'm not overly chatty, but I do read this thread.  I always say a special prayer for special requests.  Never feel alone.  I am here thinking of you.

Lala's, we need a report!  We need to know that little Ella is doing well.  I hope you are the bearer of good news.

i am here praying daily as well....for little ella! this reminds me when my sisters lung collapsed. she was 10 and i was 12...we had to pump her lung up with a bicycle tire pump :shock: i hope there have been improvements since then :lol:
tyler...loved the story...sounds like an amazing girl!

Ella Grace update...surgery to remove fluid and insert chest tube went well.  Lung is re-inflating at slow rate.  Still running a slight temp...doctor says to be expected with the infection she has. Her right lung was so filled with bacteria it looked as if she had cottage cheese in it.  Appears to be the bacteria that is so difficult to treat, most likely obtain in preschool.  I can't remember the name. Could be a form of that pesky staph type that spreads quickly. They are doing more blood cultures today to assure that the antibiotic is working its magic.   She is being moved from intensive care today to a room where she can see her brother and sister.  We almost lost her yesterday, but I feel very, very certain that all the prayers that have been offered for her worked a miracle in her life.  Many, many thanks.  There is no way to express how much those prayers have meant to this dear child.

If any of you ever have the chance to donate to a worthy cause please remember to do so to your local Children's Hospital.  They did the whole hospitality thing for these parents, Ronald McDonald house and all.  Insurance will cover most expenses and the rest the hospital absorbs.  Without their expertise and these mighty prayers I fear I would be a very sad person today.  GOD IS GOOD!

Lala's, she's in our prayers, what a saga she's been through at such a young age ! I agree about supporting our children's hospitals, it's due to one in GA that my son is alive today, he was a preemie.

Thank you Lala's for the update on Ella Grace.  I will continue to say a prayer for her.

Some very dear friends of ours' son was diagnosed with leukemia at age 4 and had it not been for Children's he would not be here today, either.  Daughter used to help every year with roadblock which his family organized.  Never hit home until yesterday and she said this, "Now I understand why they did what they for so many years.  It all means more than we will ever know.  I am glad I was part of it.  When is the next one, I want to help."  I just smiled.  :wink:

Thank all of you for your prayers regarding my 38 year old neighbor, Aram, when his liver shut down. The prayers worked!  

The doctors did something with a tube bypassing the liver (something like that ... there is a slight language barrier) and he came home from the hospital. He began to improve. He has an appetite, he can get up from the sofa on his own, he can walk around, go to the kitchen to find whatever food he wants, etc. He gained weight. His mind is coherent ... we watched a soccer game and made comments to each other.

I want to thank everyone for praying for Aram. I did not think he would survive.

Prayers requested for my cousins 5 year old daughter Abbie.  She was just diagnosed with Leukemia  3 days ago.  They are 2 1/2 hours away from home at  the children's hospital.  My cousin has had to leave her 2 other children with a relative while she is away.  Especially difficult as she is a newly divorced Mom.

I know I haven't posted but I still read everyday and always keep you all in my prayers.
I have a prayer request. Maybe I'm being silly but  tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9:45am my Mom is having a boob job. Yeah, I know. I don't want her to do it because I don't like any unneccessary surgery but this is something she really wants so if you wouldn't mind keeping her in your thoughts tomorrow for me.   Shes been really off the wall lately.. saying my kids are in her house sleeping on the floor ETC.  
 She even forgets my daughter got married ?  AND has her OWN place?
 Its sad.. Thinks my son is under her bead.. and his girlfriends are in her kitchen hiding behind a bench?  I cant count how many times a day she calls me and when I am at work too. :(  When I or anyone else in our family talks to her... and tells her my kids arnt in her house... she gets pissed?  My parents are in the same home.. my grammas place is seperate.  HUGE house. She will be 80 Arpil 3rd  :(

Angie - get someone to check her medication if this is a recent thing.  Can be something as simple as vitamin deficiency or prescribed drugs.
Prayers for her and your family, sweetie.  You or someone close to her need to talk to her doctor immediately.

Spooky - will be thinking of your mother.  Any operation is a risk but praying all will be well and she will be happy with the result.

MsDV - Little Abbie is in my prayers - and her mother and siblings also.  Love and strength to you all.

  Ty Art.. she needs them.  :(  My mother is taking her to the dr this week. Gramma is on some meds. and my mom thinks maybe they are causing this?  I dont know. I am not Dr.. but will wait and see what the dr says. Last time my mom took er to the dr and told him things she said.. my gramma got pissed off at her in the drs office.  :shock:  my mom seems afraid?  (its my moms mother).. I told her let me take her.. and let her yell at me then.  :(

Angie, that sounds like what my dad started doing just before he was diagnosed.  You are all in my prayers.

Angie, me, too...this sounds like our Dad's scenario....it creeps up slowly, you know it yet want to let them have their independence.  We thought meds, too.  Praying that it all works out.  Email me anytime.  I'm still in recovering from the solution and the loss, but it helps to talk.

Woo Hoo!  Ella Grace is coming home tomorrow.  Thanks for all the prayers.  The family thanks you too.  Will need additional IV therapy for at least two more weeks, but that is done as outpatient.  Still having breathing trouble, but she is much, much better.  Thank you Lord.

My Gramm went ot the Dr this morning. (My gamma not my mom) Itas my MOMS mom..lol
  The dr gave her a vitamin to take. I am not sure if Gramma knows wth it is.
  My mom told the dr of her behavoir as of recently . My Gram ddint get nad, but said to the dr,. I AM going to be 80 yrs old.. I guess I would forget stuff. lol

She's at the Barbara Bush center at Maine Medical Center.

I spoke with Ella Grace's mother today and she is so very grateful to all of you that prayed for Ella.  In fact, I even spoke with little Ella.  She was out taking a walk in the sunshine with her brother and sister.  They were walking down the road one on each side holding her hand. First time she's been out since she became sick.  She will continue with her antibiotics for a  few weeks, but she is doing great.  Her beautiful smile just made my day. Thanks again monkeys for all the prayers.

I did my surgical tech training at Maine Medical center in Portland. Of course that was before a Barbara Bush Center.  I pray for Abbie. They are doing so much for children with Leukemia now.  I pray she is one of the lucky ones.

Sam:  You were at Maine Med for training?!?!  How cool is that?  For a small big city,  Portland is pretty neat.  Lots of culture.  I love strolling in the OldPort in the summertime.    You aren't in Maine still are you?

I am going to say extra prayers for all tonight since I am posting in this thread.

MS Darth Vada. We left Maine in July 1988 to move back to my hometown in Illinois to be closer to family. Let me assure you though I miss Maine still. I felt like a Mainer from the day we got there in 1971. Yes loved the old Port area. Have you tried a place called Carvers? A sandwich place with loads of sandwiches. Pricey but oh so good.

I'm getting back on track myself.  Had a nice little pity party for a couple of months, but doing ok now.  The sunny days and pretty flowers have helped a lot.  And of course all your prayers.

I believe that God sends us little things to help comfort us.  This is something that happened to me this past week, and I know it was God reminding me that he is always there.  Always watching over us.

A few years ago while my mom was still living with us I planted a single yellow Crocha (spelling) and a purple one by moms patio door downstairs so she could enjoy them.  They come in fairly early and thought it would help her get through until the Easter Lillies and Tulips blloomed.  Mom really liked the yellow one the best, but my sister Joyce liked the purple one.  It was the prettiest purple she had ever seen.

When Mom passed away Joyce (my big sister who passed away in December) would bug me every Spring when the Crocha's would bloom that I should move them to the front yard because Mom isn't here any longer to enjoy them, and nobody can see the darn things back there.

I never did move them.  These type of flowers are bulbs and they don't move from one place to the other unless you transplant them.

This past week I noticed that there were 2 yellow flowers but no purple one.  I thought that was awful weird.  So I'm working in the front yard the other day......looking at the Easter Lillies blooming and low and behold there was...... one....... single........purple crocha right there with the Easter Lillies.  Pretty as ever.  I just stood there for a minute........couldn't decide whether to cry or smile.........I smiled and thought to myself how Joyce always did get the last word in, and also how good God is.
