Expert Testifies On Hair Found In Trunk, Caylee's Skull
Posted: 5:50 am EDT June 13, 2011Updated: 11:46 am EDT June 13, 2011

Stephen Shaw told jurors on Monday that he analyzed hair found in Casey's truck and samples taken from 2-year-old Caylee's skull, which was found in a wooded area near the Anthony home.

Shaw testified that he saw further evidence of decomposition on the hairs taken from the child's skull than on the hair found in Casey's trunk.

However, Shaw said, "I cannot say that a hair did originate from a person. I don't know the source of those hairs."

Before the prosecution wraps up, more experts are expected to testify, specifically a scientist specializing in plant growth, to help establish the time-line of when Caylee’s body was dumped in the woods. This week, the prosecution is expected to call a botanist, Dr. David Hall, to testify

Casey Anthony Trial: Heart-Shaped Sticker Residue Found on Duct Tape
By Steve Helling
Monday June 13, 2011 12:15 PM EDT

In court at the Casey Anthony murder trial on Monday morning, Elizabeth Fontaine, a physical scientist and forensic examiner, testified that there was heart-shaped residue on the duct tape that had been over the mouth of the 2-year-old.

"It was approximately the size of a dime," Fontaine testified. "If you were to wear a band aid for an extended period of time, and then take it off, there would be glue residue and debris. That's what this looked like, but in the shape of a heart."

The state plans to introduce evidence that similar heart-shaped stickers were found in the Anthony home.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Roy Kronk has been subpoenaed as a witness for Casey Anthony's defense, his attorney told WESH 2 News.

Kronk is the former meter reader who discovered Caylee's remains in December 2008.

Anthony's defense claimed in opening statements that the young girl's remains were placed in the woods by Kronk, not by Casey as prosecutors allege.

The Casey Anthony trial’s big headline today? A new timetable for the trial that had been estimated to last six to eight weeks. People were hearing that new timetable a little differently.

“It looks like the defense will start on Thursday, and as the judge said, it’s his hope that he has the jury deliberating by the 26th or 27th of this month,” WFTV-Channel 9 legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.  ::snipping2::

Casey Anthony CSI: Outline of Heart Decal On Duct Tape
By BRYAN LAVIETES and JANICE McDONALD
ORLANDO, Fla. June 13, 2011

An FBI forensics expert testified today in the Casey Anthony murder trial that she found the outline of a heart-shaped sticker on a piece of duct tape that was on the decomposed skull of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony.

The heart shaped outline, likened to the outline of debris that gathers around the edges of a used band-aid, was similar to a heart-shaped sticker that was found at the scene where Caylee's body was discovered. It was also similar to a roll of heart-shaped stickers that police found in Casey Anthony's bedroom.

The testimony by FBI latent print analyst Elizabeth Fontaine was like an episode of the popular television series "CSI," as she presented a tutorial on how to search for fingerprints. ::snipping2::

Fla. prosecutors are close to wrapping up their evidence in Casey Anthony’s murder trial
By Associated Press, Updated: Tuesday, June 14, 2:28 AM

ORLANDO, Fla. — The murder trial of Casey Anthony, who’s accused of killing her daughter, will resume in a central Florida courtroom with the prosecution close to wrapping up their evidence presentation.

Court recessed early on Monday with the state calling only a pair of FBI forensics experts. The reason for the early dismissal was because the prosecution’s next witness isn’t scheduled to arrive in town until early Tuesday afternoon. State attorneys say they’re ahead of schedule and the defense could be able to call its first witness Wednesday.

Casey Anthony trial: Trial to begin at 1 p.m. today
By Amy Pavuk, Orlando Sentinel
5:20 a.m. EDT, June 14, 2011

Casey Anthony's first-degree murder trial will resume this afternoon, putting state prosecutors one step closer to wrapping up their case against the single mother.

Proceedings ended early Monday because the state announced its next witnesses weren't available until this afternoon.

It's unclear who the state intends to call today, but many speculate it will be forensic analysts. Court will begin at 1 p.m.

Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry told jurors Monday that the state may wrap up its case by Wednesday, which means the defense could begin calling its witnesses Thursday. ::snipping2::

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Cindy Anthony took the stand once again on Tuesday in Casey Anthony's murder trial. Tuesday marked day 29, including jury selection, of her trial.
Cindy cr

"I remember the clothing that she wore," Cindy said.

Casey is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, nearly three years ago. She walked into the courtroom at about 12:50pm, wearing a white sweater and grey pants, and her hair was in a ponytail. Her father, George Anthony, was also in the courtroom.

Prosecutors began wrapping up their case against Casey Tuesday afternoon. ::snipping2::

WFTV Duct Tape Video Used As Evidence In Casey Trial
Posted: 6:46 am EDT June 14, 2011Updated: 5:18 pm EDT June 14, 2011
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Evidence uncovered by WFTV was used on Tuesday, during the Casey Anthony's murder trial by the state, who says it's the murder weapon that killed Caylee Anthony.

Casey walked into the courtroom at about 12:50pm, wearing a white sweater and grey pants, and her hair was in a ponytail. Her father, George Anthony, was also in the courtroom and her mother, Cindy, testified again.

Late Tuesday afternoon, the state used WFTV's video of the rare duct tape from the Anthony family garage as evidence. Tuesday marked day 29, including jury selection, of Casey Anthony's murder trial.

It's one of the last things the state is showing the jury as it gets ready to rest its case in Casey Anthony's murder trial.

The state says the video is important because investigators did not find the rest of the roll at the Anthonys' home, so WFTV's video strengthened the connection between Casey and Caylee's remains.

During her testimony on Tuesday, Cindy Anthony helped prosecutors tie that evidence to the family by dropping a bombshell about a fourth bag missing from their garage.

Cindy frowned at Casey as she walked to the witness stand. Casey did not look at her

Day 18: Jury sees Casey Anthony's tattoo, Cindy returns to stand

ORLANDO --

Tuesday may have been the second half-day in a row in the Casey Anthony murder trial, but prosecutors showed the jury a full day's worth of evidence.

Among Tuesday's key pieces of the state's case were a heart-shaped sticker found near Casey's daughter, Caylee's remains, and a tattoo on Casey's back that says "Bella Vita," an Italian phrase meaning "beautiful life."

Mom Tells Casey Anthony in Court, ‘I Love You’

PEOPLE MAGAZINE:   As the prosecution against Casey Anthony winds down, the state once again called a crucial witness to the stand on Tuesday: Anthony’s mother, Cindy.

Testifying for the third time in the murder trial, Cindy helped the prosecution establish key bits of evidence by linking items found with granddaughter Caylee’s remains to the Anthony home.

As Cindy stepped off the stand, she mouthed, “I love you” to Casey. But her daughter looked away. Cindy took her seat next to her husband George, who put his arm around her  ::snipping2::

State prepares to rest case in Casey Anthony trial

Casey Anthony before the start of court during day 18 of her 1st -degree murder trial at the Orange County Courthouse, in Orlando, Fla., Tuesday, June 14, 2011.

Last Updated: Wednesday, June 15, 2011 5:04 AM
The prosecution says it expects to rest its case following a few housekeeping matters in the murder trial of Casey Anthony, the Florida mother accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter.

State attorneys say they only have to introduce a few pieces of evidence Wednesday that are left over from earlier in its case and then it will be done. The defense says it will be ready to call its first witness Thursday, but only if a standard motion asking the judge to throw out the case is denied.

State Expected To Rest Its Case On Day 30 In Casey Trial
Posted: 5:24 am EDT June 15, 2011Updated: 6:42 am EDT June 15, 2011

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- It's day 30 of Casey Anthony's murder trial and the prosecution will likely rest its case during what's expected to be a shortened day.
But prosecutors still haven't brought in some key evidence, or some important witnesses, including Casey’s ex-boyfriend, her jail-house friend and the man who found Caylee's remains.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said prosecutors still have a few tricks up their sleeves.

He said he believes that the state is not calling all of its witnesses yet, instead waiting to use specific people to rebut the defense’s case after they're done calling their witnesses. ::snipping2::

Day 19: Prosecution rests, judge denies motion to acquit Casey Anthony
Last Updated: Wednesday, June 15, 2011 11:35 AM

After the jury left for the day, defense attorney Cheney Mason moved to get Judge Belvin Perry to acquit Casey, saying the state's evidence was insufficient, and prosecutors had not proven anything beyond a reasonable doubt.

Mason pointed to the Day 15 testimony of "Dr. G," chief medical examiner Jan Garavaglia, who admitted she could not determine the exact means of how Casey's 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, was killed.

He also said the state could not prove when or where Caylee died, and who was there when it happened.

Mason even put part of the blame on his own client, citing Casey's untruthfulness with her family and friends. He said Casey's lies about Caylee's nanny started in 2006, two years before Caylee disappeared and was later found dead in the woods near her home.

Judge Perry ultimately denied the motion, citing a number of previous case rulings, both in Florida and in other states. The judge said those are strictly questions to be decided by the jury. ::snipping2::
