It will be interesting to see if urine gets a high profile lawyer from aruba/anita connections or if he is left to the 65 duds that represent the less fortunate in Peru........
That should go a long way to weight urine's fate in the Peruvian justice system.....

There are no high profile lawyers in Aruba...they have no crime ....... hehehehe

Has anyone heard if they have recovered Joran's laptop and other personal possessions?  I could be wrong but I think I read that when they picked him up he "couldn't remember" where he had stayed the night before or where his things were.

If he had her jewelry, I could see him unloading it quick just for the need of more cash if nothing else.  If hotel workers or whoever stole the jelwelry I would thing there DNA would also be on her body.  That of course would not be good for the prosecution, although it would be hard to believe that Joran's isn't all over her.

Traveling with a tennis racket would make sense.  He is a tennis player and most resort/vacation area have courts.

How interesting that Joran claims he just saw Stefany in the casino and has no other memory.

He's consistent with his memory problems.
Aruba seemed to rely on his memory of the evening in their decision not to hold him. That bought him precious time and space to weasel out of the first crime.

I'm curious to know how many women he has really killed.

If he got in to his hotel around 5 a.m. and hadn't slept or if any drugs were in his system would be interesting to know.
A blackout period only last about 20 minutes, sure that's enough time to commit a murder and would indicate deep psychosis, not like the psychosis that would make him insane though.

The Dutch Consulate is now involved in the case and has volunteered a defense attorney for van der Sloot, according to Carlos Neyra, a spokesman for the Peruvian Investigative Police.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/05/peru.murder.case/index.html?hpt=T2

I got the impression from all the articles, especially the one pamphlet to UK detainees, that this just means the Dutch Consulate is facilitating while the family members/groupies of Joran have to provide the funds to the Consulate to make this happen.

One thing that does bother me about this investigation is why on earth would they have to exhume Stephany to take evidence from under her fingernails?

I'm basing this on statements that were supposedly made by her father in articles I've read, who also stated that this is why they were not allowed to cremate her.

Why wasn't that done during the autopsy?  I just don't understand that.

Mark Furhman (I know...ackkk) said after talking iirc to the Medical Examiner's office that it was routine to take those samples...if that's so I don't understand WHY they didn't do it?

It just seems like that would be a very important piece of evidence that should be collected and analyzed right away.

Her hands should have been bagged and tied w/ rubber bands at the wrists AT THE SCENE...before transport.
Maybe in their country (religion) the deceased has to be buried within a certain amount of time? Still don't understand why they didn't do it prior to burial though.

can, there are a lot of conflicting things right now. I swear that originally the Dutch said they wouldn't furnish an atty for Joran, and now they are. I'm sure that all of the facts will surface shortly and not change, but right now, I find it pretty frustrating!
We need to remember that all these articles are translated and many times as a result there are errors.  My guess is that they furnished a NAME of an attorney for Joran, not that they are paying for it.  Previous article specifically said they'll pay for some toiletries but not an attorney.  Could be wrong but my 2 cents.

Thank God we, and anyone in the world, can read about what the Holloways have gone through over the past 5 years right here.  Every document, news bit, etc. is right here under several links.  I hope the world and everyone in Peru reads what Joran Vandersloot put this family through.  The Kalpoe's still have not faced Dr. Phil in Court.  I am very thankful to be able to read and stay caught up here!  Monkeyhugs! (\ (*.*) /)  Justice for Natalee.  Have a great Sunday!

I agree Sharon.  Anyone can read about the Holloways and Joran Van der Sloot right here at Scared Monkeys.  There is no need to go to any other forum where you have to join their site just to read the information they stole from Scared Monkeys about this case.  Some sites are unsafe.  We don't need to see their hidden information because we were the originators of that material anyway.  It is here for the public to see and read.  They add nothing of value.

I wonder if there is a receipt or an statement from the clerk of where Joran purchased (reportedly 2 coffees and a loaf of bread). Wonder if he bought  clorox or took from hotel cleaning carts.   Wonder if he made any attempt to cleanse that room?

Not that it matters... his goose is cooked!

Stunned-looking Dutch murder suspect interrogated
By Associated Press
Sunday, June 6, 2010 - Added 34m ago
LIMA, Peru — The lone suspect in the disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway was paraded — moist-eyed and looking stunned — before reporters as Peruvians denounced him and detectives began interrogating him about the killing of a Lima student.

Joran van der Sloot arrived Saturday at criminal police headquarters in a brown Interpol SUV and was escorted across an auditorium crowded with shouting, shutter-snapping journalists three times.

Wearing a green bulletproof vest, his hands handcuffed behind him, the husky 22-year-old stared straight ahead and didn’t respond to reporters’ questions or make eye contact.
Outside, seven Indian shamans in brightly colored ponchos repeatedly stabbed a cloth doll representing van der Sloot in a "spiritual punishment" ritual. "We’re punishing him so that all the forces of evil are purged," one shouted.

About an hour earlier, onlookers yelled insults at the man who has dominated Peruvian front pages as police switched cars south of the foggy coastal capital.

His interrogation began almost immediately, Gen. Cesar Guardia, chief of Peru’s criminal police, told The Associated Press. His spokesman, Abel Gamarra, said later that van der Sloot would be kept overnight at the headquarters of the criminal police.
Van der Sloot is suspected of killing 21-year-old Stephany Flores on May 30 at his hotel room in the Peruvian capital.

Police in neighboring Chile caught van der Sloot on Thursday and expelled him across the border a day later. He was then driven 17 hours north in a police caravan.

Chilean police spokesman Fernando Ovalle said the Dutchman told them he did not kill Flores, who was found battered with a broken neck.

But van der Sloot did acknowledge that "he met her and at some point they went to a casino," Ovalle said.

Police released video Saturday taken by hotel security cameras showing van der Sloot and his alleged victim entering his hotel room together.

Flores trails van der Sloot, her head bowed, after he is given his room key. She exhibits the same demeanor when she follows him into the room.

Van der Sloot is wearing a white, long-sleeved button-down shirt and jeans in the video. Flores wears a dark sleeveless T-shirt and jeans and has her hair up.

Later video shows the Dutchman leaving the hotel alone with his bags. He is in a patterned shirt and carries a day pack on his back and a gym bag in his hand.

Guardia, the police chief, said that at 8:10 a.m., nearly an hour and a half before leaving the hotel, van der Sloot walked across the street alone, bought bread and two cups of coffee at a supermarket and returned to his hotel room.

He (Carlos Gonzalo) said "they found bloodied clothes with" van der Sloot and that investigators are testing them, as well as the tennis racquet, for DNA.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/05/peru.murder.case/index.html?hpt=T2

What ever they do don't send any evidence to the Netherlands.  They will taint it and blame Peru and say they are setting up Joran.

Was it a camera that was placed near an opening where the elevators are or the stairs.  Would that be normal to have a camera place in a spot like that.

The body language of her walking into the hotel room with him with her head down indicates he's manipulative and abusive.
