Quote from: "tcumom"
Carnut ~ From Wikipedia: The Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response sometimes seen in an abducted hostage, in which the hostage exhibits loyalty to the hostage-taker, in spite of the danger (or at least risk) in which the hostage has been placed. Stockholm syndrome is also sometimes discussed in reference to other situations with similar tensions, such as battered person syndrome, rape cases, child abuse cases, and bride kidnapping.

Just a possibility I threw out ~ not saying that's the answer to our questions....

Well said, Tylergirl!

Am going to try to post, in the lounge, an article that was on my browser site from the City of Industry which is about 10 miles east of downtown LA yesterday... it hits on many areas discussed last night and today..

working class income median in the $40,000's, gangs, illegals, mabye mysite conntections to the crimes, and taking of pictures of the deceased

Reading the article I got the opinion that even the police were shocked at the picture taking of the deceased gang member... this might go along with those from other countries in SA don't think the same way as we do about it. I don't know if the gang deceased member was of Mexican or SA decent. Russian gangs are more in Hollywood and around Paramount studios vs. City of Industry.

About illegals children born here: Also, remember those children born in the US of illegals are American citizens from day 1! That would be a rule that could be changed along with the border issues.

Then again,  I'd probably do the same too; escape poverty for a better chance to survive and at least I'd know my children are American citizens so by just that have a head start over what I have.

IMO The money sent to Mexico from our illegal challenge is the best Marshal Plan and best import commodity for Mexico.[/b] Those I know who do send some money there are helping their parents.

My adopted family has been here for years; are citizens and new relatives are becoming citizens the right way. They are either self employed in business or work in school districts, factories. They own homes, or live in a crowded 1 BR apt at $800 a month, pay taxes and social security. The children are Americans for they are born here.

California and some states have a very strong, fairly new in the lst 15 yrs. strong middle class of previous Mexican immigrants and are voters. That is why the political parties IMO and Congress are treading lightly when maybe they shouldn't.

Sorry for the double post. Safari browser used: a big error saying something about "degug" came up so I thought it wasn't posted and went back to the page and clicked it again.

Klaas
I captured the screen with the error so will send it to Tom. When you come back tomorrow would you please erase my second posting? TIA

It is time that any citizen that gets a gut feeling about any child in any uncomfortable situation they witness, albeit a strange neighbor, a situation in a public place,  or even odd postings on the web,  We have to decide if its something we should even just let the police know about.  give them the info at the very least.....

Maybe it turns out to be nothing,  but when its reported, its in the file.

It  should have been a warning signal to these neighbors that were afraid of this guy,  AND to notice he never went to school?  Thats another telltale sign something was not quite right. C'mon,  the noises day and night?  I'd have reported it.

People who are teachers, daycare providers, healthcare providers and in Public safety jobs are required to report suspicious behavior.

People shouldn't worry about "what if I'm wrong"  they should be focusing, on "what if I'm right"

It should be something the entire public is educated with and it be a moral responsibility to report such behaviors.

Morning monkeys!!!! Carnut did not run me off last night, I simply was going bonkers listening to the coughing. Time goes by so slowly when waiting for a doctors call.
We ended up doing another bad thing, but dont really give a flip, it helped....I borrowed meds from a friend.....not to worry, I would never give my child any medicine that was not what he uses. We have fought this asthma since he was a little guy and he is 15 yrs old now. Only reason he had no meds for his nebulizer is that we have not needed it in awhile.Anyway, off to the doctor today probably for the dreaded prednisone... I am sure that will reallyl help with the teenage attitude... Wink  Rolling Eyes

Something that disturbed me that I heard yesterday was that the mother of the boy who became best friends with Shawn stated that they saw a report about him while he was at their house and told him that he looked just like Shawn.... dunno, but I think that would have raised some red flags with me, especially given the fact that he was supposedly living with his father and had not mother.... dont like to pass judgment , but it just struck me as strange......

Yeah, that is strange,

Or how about the guy who heard Devlin strike Shawn through the floors.  He never called?

I just cant believe nobody called about the white truck,  After the 2nd abduction,  you see the white truck that fits the description,  you should have called.

Hope your son feels better soon,  Asthma is no fun.  I would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes.  If I knew my neighbor or friend had the same type of neb. treatment, I'd have borrowed some.  I live more than 30 minutes to a hospital. You do what you have to.

Mrs. I found that to be strange also... I like to think that I would have made that call and hopefully I would, I will tuck that information away in my head so that if I am ever in that position maybe it will give me a little nudge to stick my nose in...

Mrs. I live 30 minutes from a hospital also and the nearest all night pharmacy is 45 minutes away, so I did what I had to do to get my kid some relief... asthma is scary and I wish it were me and not him who had it, we have gone so long without an attack that I was completely unprepared, except for his pocket inhalers which I have learned are a good substitue for a nebulizer if you repeat it 20 minutes later,I intend to stock up on meds today though.....I feel like a really bad mother right now...
