Tell her you can download the questions and answers for the citizenship test. That's what I did and it's not tricky. The government site has this info plus FAQs etc. Tell her good luck.
Thanks, I will pass on the info.
Until Zahra I never thought about what might have been involved for her(and one of her two sisters).
I have 2 bros in WA, they have boys who married sisters from OZ, thus, cousins and Brothers in law! They also have a 3rd sister who married a friend, also considered part of the fam. The oldest sis(as I find out) has triple citizenship...Aussie mom, Canadian Dad, born in CA!
I don't know how they did it. BTW...Oldest nephew and #1 been married 10 years in Dec, 2nd nephew and #2, was 5 years in July(and expecting miracle #2), #3 and hubby just had their 4th anniversary last week.

To be here legally is an expensive and timely process.
Not easy.
Most people think that if an immigrant marries a US citizen, then they are here legally, etc.
It's just not like that at all.
[/quote]
I got my citizenship about 12 yrs ago and I was legally here at that time for 33 yrs and was married to an American for most of that time.

He was looking forward til the time he could apply for citizenship, but when it got here, the fees were quite high, and he just saw no need to rush. He has not applied yet.
His 10 years is almost over also, so he'll probably apply in 2011.
Tried to fix the quote stack, but one of the beginning lines is missing. LOL

Think I will just start over! lol
I forgot to say GOOD MORNING!
now that it is almost over(here in Or anyway). It is up to 52 and windy all of a sudden...hate the wind, good thing I don't have to go anywhere with a fancy hairdo today! hehe
4Donks, I did not know you were not originally from here? God Bless you! Sounds to me like you (and Brandi, your hubby) have a lot of fortitude and I admire you. I know I have a whole new respect for my neices...such sweeties they are!
Long story, but they are where I learned that there is no such thing as a reddish olive..."I think those are to"mah"toes! hehe...grape tomatoes on an olive plate, who knew?
JSM, thought of you this morning when I loaned my daughter my car...
I don't think (hope, hope, hope)she drives like you say your sister does, her car has some sort of gasket that needs to seal for 24 hours.

I imagine since I immigrated in the dark ages
that the process is harder after 9/11. If it hasn't there is something wrong. If you are an honorable person you just follow the rules and I don't see AB as honorable.

You're funny!
I most assuredly agree with the rest of your post. I know there are lots of things I would love to do to them, as I imagine most of us are so horrifies over this. I can't, so I guess I just keep praying for justice for her and all the others.
I don't think AB would know honor if it jumped up and bit him in the a$$

My parents and I came down legally in 1952 from Canada, I was 2 years old. They went thru basically the same ....so much money in the bank, a sponsor etc. I had a "Green Card" which until 1995 still had my baby picture on it.
Lived in So. Cal. till 5 years ago and attempted many times thru the years to apply for citizenship. (If my parents had applied before I turned 14, I would have automatically become a citizen). Found that applying in L.A. was impossible!
Moved to Texas 5 years ago, heard a couple years ago that they were going to start jacking up the price of both renewal of card & app for citizenship, as my card was coming up on the 10 year renewal, I decided to try one more time to apply here in Dallas - It went thru so fast, took less than 2 month from applying to being sworn in --- I've now been a citizen for nearly 2 1/2 years, have voted for the first time in my life - and I'm proud to be an American.
As far as the so called test.....I was asked who the president was---got that one correct, than asked what the 19th amendment was, I went blank, she laughed and said seeing that I had my entire education in the states, could understand the "Duh" and gave pity on my 59 year old brain! I was sworn in the same day.....Green Eyes was there with me and so happy I'd finally done, done it....shes only hounded me for the last 45 years.....yikes!
SIDE NOTE: to the critisim to Los Angeles service....My dad decided in 2002 to apply, took 4 years to hear back from immigration, another 2 years for interview...which he proudly passed at 85 years old......He was contacted once following interview for the Swearing in ceremony, (got the notification 2 weeks after the fact.)....
He moved out here to Texas with me in March of last year, I contacted Dallas to have his files transferred...exactly 2 months later I took him to Fort Worth and he was sworn in, in a beautiful service. Unfortunately by then he was deeply into the throes of Dementia and had no idea what was taking place, but I know he would have been so proud if he'd been able to acheive this when he was still mentally with us........Bless you pops, your at peace and an American to boot! Hi Tevye how's it going at work ? Hope things are going well.
Hey 4donks! THings are going well at work, I get to leave early tomorrow afternoon to drive downstate and spend the night, then spend the day training. All with my boss, who I enjoy spending time with. She's young, she's in love, and she's really fun to hang with.
and then I get 4 DAYS OFF! Thursday is a holiday (veteran's day), and I took my one personal day on Friday. Woo hoo!! I think I may just get the lawn furniture put away, before the snow flies...again. Last week I drove to work (20 miles) in pretty much of a blizzard...and wasn't even late!
So, it's going good. Now my big worry is getting those last credits done for my degree..little does little boss know she's going to help me study on the 4 hour drive!

Well you enjoy yourself and RELAX, never mind the lawn furniture, that's what husbands and grad kids are for.
You'll knock out those credits with no problem. So have FUN.

OK, who's the maroon who called my cell phone (which also serves as my alarm clock) last night at 11:30, just as I was FINALLY falling asleep? I have to keep the phone far enough from my bed so I won't just reach over and turn it off...so that was a major pain. I thought about maybe calling that number back if I woke up in the middle of the night....but didn't.
And to make it worse, they didn't even leave a message!

Save that number for a sleepless night. Then give a cell phone etiquette lecture. Have a safe trip and mini vacation.
