Good Night Lucinda. I am still digging for some information that has bugged me for ages. My eyes!!

Hello to all the Monkeys that have come on while I have been poking around in files and documents.

In speaking of the death penalty, I have waffled back and for about it over the years. But in my later years, there have been some crimes that have been so henious. Bundy, Couey, and others come to mind. So my mind has more or less firmed up about the death penalty even though it does go against my religion. I do think that Casey deserves the death penalty as I thought Susan Smith did too. To kill strangers or someone you barely know is one thing. But to intentionally kill your own flesh and blood that you gave birth to is another. The reason for both is that the precious, innocent child/children is/are in your way for what you want to do in your life. Especially as it relates to partying and sexual gratification is abhorent beyond all sense of reason to me.....JMO

I have gone back and forth on this as well. I use to be dead set against the DP, only until a couple years ago have I been for it. Though there are some aspects of it, that I don't like. But I don't look at it as cruel and unusual punishment, I just wish it would be carried out sooner then later. I understand all the appeals, but here in CA, forget it, you will die of old age before it is carried out.

Good Morning Monkeys!!! I just read where Oprah has cancelled the Columbine Show today. Maybe she will do the same with the Anthonys! She stated that it gave too much attention to the killers.

http://www.cfnews13.com/News/National/2009/4/20/winfrey_cancels_program_on_columbine_anniversary.html
Your kidding right? What about having some of the families that lost children, and kids that survived that attack? How the school is doing after the attack, what is she going to have on instead, some fluff piece

Your a mind reader this morning.
Again, Oprah is not making any sense, should we all just forget about that horrific incident, does she not want to observe what happened on 9/11 because that would focus on the killers as well? Let her just rag on about her diets, and weight loss and gain, someone I'm sure would be interested in that

Not me.I don't watch her.

Oprah Winfrey explains why she pulled Columbine show

The decision was made last night. The explanation came this morning.

Oprah Winfrey pulled a show she had taped about the Columbine massacre.

At Oprah.com, she explained:

Oprah Winfrey

"I decided to pull the Columbine show today," she wrote. "After reviewing it, I thought it focused too much on the killers. Today, hold a thought for the Columbine community. This is a hard day for them."

So to everyone who's outraged that Winfrey is interviewing George and Cindy Anthony, keep today's example in mind. If Winfrey doesn't like the results, she could always pull that show.

Today, Winfrey looks at a porn bust and the return of a mother who spent three years in prison. "The Oprah Winfrey Show" airs at 4 p.m. weekdays on WFTV-Channel 9.

in red...................And that differs from an Anthony interview....HOW?

jr - good point.    I guess we need to keep making noise about them being on the show - maybe she'll cancel it.
BTW - love the line below your avi.

Good Afternoon Monks...old and new....I spoke to many families who's loved one had been murdered, raped, tortured, etc and the killer was sentences to death. Only one family I spoke with did not want the killer to get the death penalty. ..but bottom line was the thought of the murderer LIVING...no matter that they lived in PRISON...they still lived. They would still be able to see their family and friends, be aware of birthdays, graduations, weddings, births etc.....was so painful to the families...the death seemed to give them some peace...some justice .........  and after talking with them I got IT!

O Akmom, that family getting in their jail cells couldnt happen fast enough!

A revisit of Cindy's first appearance on LKL 7/30 (keep in mind this is right before her OSCO & FBI interviews, a week after Casey's first bond hearing)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYOlo16dJ40&NR=1    PART 1

Watch when she begins how she hesitates and makes facial gestures when asked if she believes Caylee is alive...this quote tells it all "I believe she's alive when Casey handed her off to the babysitter.   At this point I just hope to God that no one has done anything to her."    The way this is phrased tells me Cindy already knows Caylee is dead & she is already spinning her tales to implicate someone else.   She is saying that Caylee was alive up to the point that Casey "handed her off" - ummm hellooo Cindy you just made it obvious that the JBP story was an after thought because Sawgrass didnt pan out for Casey because in the JBP story Casey did not hand Caylee off, Casey claimed Zeneida pushed her to the ground & took Caylee then threw a 30 day script at Casey to follow.   Speaking of which, they cant get their story straight on that either - at first it was a 30 day script then it turned into that convoluted 55 days (timer55 password) which from 6/16 would land on Caylee's 3rd birthday...sigh.   They made a vital error there too because if "Zanny" gave Casey this "script" and reportedly changed Casey's password  Rolling Eyes then how the heck did Casey readily know it to give to her brother when he asked for it during a jail call?  A ha!

And another humdinger, Cindy says here that she and Casey were discussing "when it might be the right time for her and Caylee to move out." SAY WHAT!  O I can't wait for Cindy to be confronted with testimony about their fight of 6/15!   She says that Casey was on an extended trip to Jacksonville so notice that this was said BEFORE Casey was bonded out just shy of a month later.   I think it clearly shows they discussed quite a bit the evening of 7/15 into 7/16 before Casey was arrested that afternoon.   NOTE:  There were no cell pings that Casey had ever left the Orlando area between 6/15-7/15.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXcpMm0DC68&feature=related    Part 2   Cindy & Bozo
LK starts this part by saying that Judge Strickland denied Bozo's motion to block phone calls from being released.  So while the Anthonys & Bozo whine away about OCSO & the State putting discovery out here to "get Casey" it serves as a reminder that it is the judge who said DENIED BOZO following the guidelines of the Florida Sunshine Law.   Bozo's first remark "well my read on this is she's basically being prosecuted for a homicide without any evidence & the presumption of innocence as flown out the window and that really scares me."   LK's guests countered the known facts with a one, two punch.  A little later Bozo actually makes a statement that he told investigators that he would give them access to Casey...hmmm he never did, if anything he has blocked every attempt even with it agreed for him to be present.   O and this comment by Bozo slayed me "MY case looks a whole lot better if we find Caylee."   WHAT A NARCISSIST PRICOLA!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP7Bmn-M2_M&feature=related  Part 3
Cindy comes back to comment on what she just heard.  Watch how Cindy attempts to orchestrate how the interview should go & challenges the forensic expert, boy did that blow up in her face!   She lied about OCSO leaving the car there for 2 full days, no they obtained a search warrant & picked it up after Casey's arrest.  The forensic expert then tells her flat out rotten food cannot be mistaken for human decomposition & she's shaking her head no & still argues with him.    She says "I was told today that sweat can be construed as human decomposition,"  from a nurse no less (she could barely pronounce the 25 cent words lol).    Another thing of note, she is a grandmother arguing about the possible human decomposition of her granddaughter & yet she doesnt shed a tear or get choked up, I don't know I'd venture to say most people would lose it this early on thinking it could be evidence that their loved one was murdered....geez!   At the end you can see she is getting pretty ticked off & tries to explain Casey's actions away.

Remember in her OCSO interview with Yuri & I think it was Det Williams IIRC, she complains that LKL did not let her have the full hour as promised so she could discuss what she wanted to (loosely phrased by me but that's basically what she said).
Wow just wow

Great post, thanks to all monkeys who strive to keep us all informed and have such great insight into this very disgusting case.  This family never ceases to amze me in their lying, nonchalant attitude towards the death of Caylee.  It is like she is just another means to an end of wealth.  No tears just attitude.

When this case first hit the air, the first thing that got my attention was when they walked slore into jail with that smug look on her puss. I immediately thought "this *itch knows something and is involved somehow." I commented to my SO about the look not being from a concerned parent of a missing child.

In the coming days of watching the local tv coverage, I questioned why so much focus was being put on the grandparents (with the searches of the back yard and all). My thoughts at the time were "Why are they focusing on the grandparents so much, they are victims here."

Well as soon as CA started with the "it's just rotting pizza" and "get off your azzes and look for my granddaughter" type comments, my thoughts quickly started to change and have only continued in that direction since to the point of complete contempt for that entire family that I have now.

I have been out on one of the searches by TES and was completely overwhelmed by the support of the community wanting to find this child. More so, I was blown away by learning of the distances some people had traveled just to help search.

Through all that and the number of searches held, where was that despicable family?

How in God's name do they deserve a national tv platform to speak? What are they going to speak of? (we all know the answer to that one)

The more I type, the madder I am getting. I guess I'd better quit now.

For the lighter side, has anyone heard of a post turtle?

Execute Casey? Not a chance -- but now she might cut a deal
Mike Thomas

April 19, 2009

State Attorney Lawson Lamar says he wants to kill Casey Anthony, which I suppose is one way of guaranteeing she dies of old age.

The odds of Casey taking a lethal snooze are about equal to the odds she'll celebrate with milk and cookies if exonerated.

Even Lamar understands that.

For historical reference, I refer you to Richard Adams, an evil psychopath who brutally beat and stomped his 6-year-old daughter Kayla to death. Lake prosecutors tried, but failed, to get a death sentence against him.

And Adams was much more loathsome than Casey. There was no doubt about his guilt. Kayla's body testified to the horrors of the crime.

Lamar has nothing close to this strong a case against Casey. He has no confession, no cause of death and no indication of premeditation. Evidence consists of Casey's mysterious and indifferent behavior, her compulsive lying, a piece of fairly common duct tape and iffy evidence that there once was a body in the trunk of the abandoned family Pontiac.

Casey's defense team may be headed by José Baez, a not-ready-for-prime-time Kissimmee lawyer whom I wouldn't hire to defend my traffic ticket. But he is backed by some serious talent, including New York defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden, criminalist Henry Lee and forensic scientist Larry Kobilinsky, a regular on Nancy Grace.

I imagine they will put the prosecution's trunk-sniffing machine — the one used to indicate the presence of a body in the car — on the witness stand and make a convincing case it can't sniff the difference between a cadaver, a rotten pizza or a bottle of Chanel No. 5.

And any number of expert witnesses could testify that it's typical for a woman who has lost a daughter to go into shock, forget the mystery nanny's name, grab a six-pack, call up the gang and put off notifying the cops for a month.

You scoff at this only if you haven't seen a good lawyer magnify preposterous notions into gaping chasms of reasonable doubt.

Lamar obviously has to be concerned.

So his best offense has become a good bluff: the death penalty. His office resurrected it last week after ruling it out in December. The official explanation is that "sufficient aggravating circumstances" have come to light.

Like what, more pictures of Casey wrapped in an American flag guzzling beer?

This is nothing more than an old prosecutor's trick.

It goes like this: To get seated for a death-penalty trial, a juror must say during the selection process that he or she is willing to sentence someone to death. This tends to weed out the softies and liberals like Scott Maxwell and myself, giving prosecutors more of a law-and-order jury — one more likely to convict.

Noted Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz claimed prosecutors in Texas used this tactic to get a conviction against Andrea Yates, who drowned her five children in 2001.

"The prosecutors ... never really expected, nor even wanted, the jury to return a death sentence," he wrote in an analysis. "They manipulated the death penalty processing order to get a pro-prosecution jury, more likely to reject the insanity defense and return a verdict of guilt. This tactic, well known to those who practice criminal law, is becoming more widespread in states which authorize the death penalty."

Her conviction was overturned on appeal, and Yates subsequently was ruled not guilt by reason of insanity.

Jury consultant Beth Bochnak from the National Jury Project, calls this ploy a "massive problem."

She says the focus on the death penalty during the selection process gives potential jurors the impression that guilt is a foregone conclusion, or else why would everybody be harping on the punishment?

"I recently heard from jurors in a capital [murder] case," Bochnak says. "One told me about another juror in the deliberations who was completely confused because he thought the guy already was convicted."

Dershowitz hopes the courts "will finally declare this practice unethical, even unconstitutional."

Until then, this is Lamar's best hope to force Casey into a plea deal that could spare his office a long and expensive trial, followed by a very bad outcome.

Not only have prosecutors stacked the deck against her, they have added considerable time and cost to her defense. That may temper the enthusiasm of some of her defenders who obviously won't be getting paid their normal hourly wage.

And Casey now has something new to think about: the image of being strapped down on a gurney, a jail nurse prepping her veins.

Maybe that will make her squirm enough to end this freak show. If this is prosecutorial misconduct, then this one time I can look the other way.
