Federal officials say in court papers that a missing Vermont girl's uncle brought her home and took her upstairs to have sex.

In an affidavit, officials say a teenage girl admitted helping Michael Jacques, Brooke Bennett's uncle, drop 12-year-old Brooke off at a store on June 25 and then get her and return to his Randolph home for sex. Brooke has not been seen since.

In the U.S. District Court affidavit, the teen told agents she herself had been having sex with Jacques, 42, since she was 9 in a sex ring called Breckinridge. She said she was told Brooke was going to be brought into the ring that day.

FBI: Uncle planned sex ring initation for Brooke Bennett

A missing 12-year-old Braintree girl was to be initiated into a sex program the last day she was seen alive, according to an FBI affidavit released today.

Authorities previously believed Brooke Bennett was dropped off by her uncle at a Randolph convenience store June 25. Instead, the uncle — Michael Jacques, 42 — picked Brooke up at the store, lied to her about taking her to a party, and brought Brooke back to his home to initiate her into a sex club called “Breckenridge.”

The information is contained in an affidavit prepared by FBI Special Agent Daniel Rachek and made available today at U.S. District Court in Burlington.

The account is based on an interview with a person identified as “Juvenile 1” who said she was with Jacques and Brooke that morning. “Juvenile 1” is the same girl who told investigators about her own participation in Breckenridge and repeated assaults by Jacques that led to his arrest over the weekend.

The affidavit was released today prior to an initial appearance for Raymond A. Gagnon, Brooke’s former stepfather, on federal charges of obstruction of justice on allegations of destroying evidence in the investigation into Brooke’s disappearance.

“Juvenile 1” told authorities that the she and Brooke returned with Jacques to his home, where the girls watched TV. Juvenile 1 said she “understood that Bennett would be taken into the Breckenridge program that day, and that she would have sex with adult males,” Rachek wrote.

“Jacques eventually asked Bennett to go upstairs in the house with him. Juvenile 1 did not see Bennett again. She soon left the home at Jacques’ direction.”

According to the affidavit, a posting to Brooke’s page on the Internet social networking site MySpace was made from Jacques’ laptop computer at 11:40 p.m. June 24 — nearly 10 hours before Brooke was seen at the convenience store. The post was edited from the same computer 15 minutes later and again 10:36 p.m. June 25 — about 90 minutes after her family reporter her missing.

“During this last log in, the time of the posting was manually changed to June 25, 2008, at 7:46 a.m.,” Rachek wrote. The post — using common Internet vernacular — suggested Brooke intended to meet an unnamed person for the purpose of a sexual liaison and that she planned to run away to Texas. “My mom will kill me, but then I’m going 2 Texas and she will get over it,” the post said, as quoted in the affidavit.

“Law enforcement believes that this posting was made to make it appear that Bennett was abducted by someone she met on the internet or communicated with on the internet.”

The MySpace page was again accessed at 11:18 p.m. and 11:25 p.m. June 25 from a computer at the home Gagnon, 40, rents in San Antonio. The blog was edited from this location, Rachek wrote. Gagnon later told police that Jacques gave him the user name and password June 25 and that Gagnon logged in and changed the user name and password.

“He denied changing any blog posting information,” the affidavit said.

Gagnon’s actions prompted the federal obstruction of justice charge. He is being held pending a detention hearing in federal court Tuesday.

Federal prosecutors said in court papers they plan to bring additional charges against Gagnon based on his statements to investigators, including:


Gagnon told law enforcement that in June 2007 he and Jacques “engaged in sex with Juvenile 1.”

Gagnon said Jacques sent him digital photos of Juvenile 1 and her boyfriend “engaged in sexual acts” and that Gagnon stored those photos in a safe.

Gagnon admitted he has downloaded a vast amount of child pornography from the Internet, including images of children as young as 5 and that he stores the images on his laptop computer.

Federal officials say in court papers that Brooke Bennett's uncle brought her home and took her upstairs to have sex.

In an affidavit, officials say a teenage girl admitted helping Michael Jacques drop 12-year-old Brooke off at a store on June 25 and then get her and return to his Randolph home for sex. Brooke has not been seen since.

The information came in federal court where Brooke's former stepfather, Ray Gagnon, is facing obstruction of justice charges brought by federal officials. According to court papers, Gagnon rented a room in a house in San Antonio owned by Kevin Grosenheider. Gagnon allegedly called Grosenheider and asked him to throw out a safe that contained a laptop. The safe was thrown into a dumpster and police have not been able to find it.

Court papers also say that Michael Jacques knew Brooke's user name and the password to her MySpace account and went in and altered her page on the day she disappeared. Jacques also allegedly had Gagnon go on to MySpace and change Brooke's user name and password. Cell phone records show four calls between Jacques and Gagnon on the day Brooke disappeared.

According to the court papers, computer forensics traced activity on Brooke's page to San Antonio and Jacques' laptop.

I was thinking it will probably come to that.  It was mentioned that Brooke would be expected to be with 'males' pleural, so I'm hoping that Juvenile 1 can ID all of them.  I don't know if I believe Brooke is with one of them....thinking the worst.

Lets talk about  this other girl.  Isn't she the one redacted from the original indictment against JaqAss?  And is referenced as living with Denise (aunt of Brooke) and JaqAss, so this other girl might be her cousin?  These sicko's probably so distorted "normal" that the girls involved felt special or important and therefore the possible cousin didn't think it was a bad thing that Brooke was going to be "initiated."  Heaven help us this is soooo twisted and awful.  I honestly don't think things like "Juno" help girls to respect boundaries with regard to their bodies.  And the parents are so....um....messed up that they give these girls no sense of self confidence or morality.  Don't mean to be preachy here, but all of these cases just show how depraved our society has become.  Can any of us imagine being 12 and a friend or cousin setting us up for this kind of club? 

My guess is that Brooke was not the easy pray JaqAss thought she was, she fought back, and he was in a rage because he had obviously been lusting and planning for a while to rape this poor girl.  I just get sick thinking that the former step dad probably abused her before and talked it up with JaqAss, setting her up for not only more abuse, but now...who knows...

It's very possible that other men were there and someone took her away.
