MT - How did it go at the vet's?

YES!  The doctor was basically a jerk and acted like I was stupid to even come in.  Then he acted like he was doing me some HUGE favor by giving me the prescription for the cough med with codeine, well guess what...I didn't say please give me something to help me sleep through the night!

Klaas - I am glad you went anyway.  That Dr does sound like a jerk.  I wish you mentioned the word malpractice when he said overly cautious.   ::MonkeyWink::

My little guy is in chronic renal failure.  I will be giving 100cc of Saline 2x a day. I am not thrilled with the idea of needles but leaving him there for a few days was not an option for me either.  He is on a special diet (K/D).  If he is not doing better by Friday, he will have to be hospitalized.

My mom died of renal failure and my dad has kidney cancer.  I guess bad kidneys run in my family.  ::MonkeyEek::

My head is pounding from all adrenalin runny through my body.  He just ate good and drank some water and now he is sleeping.

Mytime - how old did you say he is?  My pups are 13 and 11 and I don't know what we would do if anything happens to them.  I know they won't live forever but we don't want to think about it.

He is almost 14 years old.  I never wanted to think about it either Klaasbut now I have no choice.  The vet said it is not a "death sentence" though.  Please let him be right!! 

The strange thing is - it happened over night - visually!!  But the blood test showed it has been chronic not acute.

We had a pup who developed the same at the age of 5.  Blood work said the same, yet the symptoms came on suddenly.  Vet couldn't say for sure, but suggested he ingested somehting toxic that damaged his kidneys, and also that it was possible that he had only one functioning kidney all along and that it deteriorated.  They took him in a couple of times and hooked him up to IV to flush his system.  Both times he came home like new but eventually got lethargic again.   We were told dialysis would help, but there was no facility in our area that had it and it would be expensive.   He didn't make it, though (this was almost 20 years ago)....he was a great dog,    ::MonkeyWaa::

I'm glad the vet has a positive outlook and hope your little guy pulls through & has a few more years left in him.  I can imagine what you are feeling and hope that I didn't make you feel worse with my story.

What exactly is that?  I have been staring at it and cannot figure it out. 

Mytime,my little Bama doxie was with me for 13 years and I saw him pull through many a time when everyone else gave up on him,but their little bodies grow tired.As long  as you're close by he will feel your love.I used to sing to my Bama and when he got hard of hearing I'd hold him close where he could see me singing.I will pray for you and your little guy to feel better.  ::MonkeyAngel::

Thank you Trimm - Funny thing, he is usually very independent and for a Yorkie - he is not a lap dog at all but when he is sick, he won't let me out of his site.   I don't want him out of mine either.  I was up late last night just rocking him on our love glider love seat.  He just loves to be rocked. 

That's what you do.You just love them all you can.

Mytime, I'm so sorry!  I wouldn't have left him either, he needs to be with you.  I hope giving the shots goes o.k., I've never been good at even just giving the oral meds to our pets.  My husband usually gets that duty.  I do all the rocking, and babying!

MT, I love you, in good times and bad. 

No one here should expect another poster to be "on" all the time.  Please don't succumb to any pressure to be that way.  Love you, good good friend.

The more I think about it, the more appropriate I think it is for the musings thread.  There are lots of times I come in here feeling like an angel, and then something comes over me once I start posting.  I have seen it happen to others, too.

Thanks All for the kind wishes and prayers for KuBear! I take her in between 7:30 and 8:30 in the morning and can pick her up at 4:00. I suppose they'll call me when they know the results of the biopsy? I don't know for sure, but I'm sure they'll tell me in the morning.

Good Evening All You Wonderful Monkeys, I am SO Proud and Thrilled to be here. I like so many others have followed you all for so,so...so long. SM has the smartest posters more that Any other site anywhere!!   
  I sit at my computer in total amazement all of the time at the brilliant minds, the kind souls, the loving compassion and the great humor form you all ...and you all love your fur-babies!! I do also (love my 3 fur-babies).
 I have sat here crying and laughing so hard that the tears flowed down my face. I have had great whole body laughs with you all and I Thank you all for that! Laughter does the soul so much good. With All of the sadness and horror that is going on to our most precious little Angels we do need to be able to have some laughter sometimes. 
 I have read all over the place from the first day of  Caylee's tragedy and had Never posted anywhere until a week or so ago, and then it was only a couple post, so this is all new to me. I may not post much at first... It takes me forever and I get so nervous trying ( I hope to get over that) but I am one of your Biggest & loudest cheerleaders. Everyone I know knows about SM..you would think that it I gave birth to SM  the way I talk about you all ...lol  Now I can really brag..I am a member!!

OMG - a Nurse - I am not!! 

I just gave Tyty his second dose of 100cc's of saline.  It was much easier at the vet. ::MonkeyConfused::

The needle slipped out and  I pricked my thumb.  Saline shot of every where, blood was dripping from my thumb.  He was not happy at all.  ::MonkeyNoNo::

My other dogs are getting so jealous too and that is not a good thing.   ::MonkeyRoll::

I think they all went home the next day, so that seems a good sign they were all doing well.

I decided I couldn't go through all 15 pages..I hope everyone and thie babies furry and otherwise are fine now...I need some Monkey advise.

We are having a 4th BBQ party. We invited a couple we really like among others. They accepted over 2 weeks ago. She called me yesterday, left a message to INFORM me she was bringing her 2 grandchildren...ages 7yo and 20 months and would I please have hotdogs for her g/kids and not put onion in anything as the 7 yo doesn't like onions.  No other children will be here. The 7yo is an obnoxious brat.......not the G/p's fault...the mother is a drug addict and the g/p's got legal custody about 2 months ago. The baby is mo problem...but the 7yo is into everything...she lies and is very sneaky..last time she  was here my DH found her in our bedroom going through the bedside tables drawers, in the computer room trying to do whatever with the computer She has no manners, interrupts adults conversations, is loud, rude and throws tantrums when she doesn't get her way. I know she has babysitters as they are very social people. What in the hell do I do??  Do I suck it up and say nothing? Or do I call her and let her know there will be no other children here and that this is an adults only party? Of course my first instinct is to tell her to leave the brat at home. I gotta do something today. I don't want to lose their friendship but I also don't want to expose my other guests to this child.  We have friends coming from Houston for the weekend as well.

Sunny, call her back, tell her the entertainment you have planned is not conducive to children, if she is rude and trys to ask you what that means, tell her it is a surprise. 

Thanks for the suggestion A1....LOL...but, then what do I do to back that up!!  I think I just have to be honest....and try not to be too harsh with the honesty. I like kids and we have friends over who have kids...and if other children were coming I probably wouldn't think too much about it.  I think it just rubbed me wrong that she left a message and didn't talk  to me directly. Did ask if it was OK to bring the kids (there have been several times she has not brought them....like when we play cards etc) or if there would be other children and then the onion thing REALLY got my dander up.

Sunny - I agree.  Be honest with her in the kindest way possible.  My first reaction (not kind) would be to tell her there will be onion in everything and if the 7yr old doesn't like it she can starve.  Also that you aren't buying special food for anyone.

Seriously

1.  She should have asked you if it was OK
2.  Instead of telling you what food to have available for the little "princess" she should have just brought something herself
3.  If she is now the guardian of the "princess" then it's about time she acts like a parent and not a grandparent.

There has recently been a HUGE family argument that started with these two & now I am no longer speaking to my brother or my mother! Needless to say, I won't be watching either of them ever again! I would tell your friend that this is an adult party so if they cannot find a babysitter maybe they can make the next party. It is not fair to your other guests to cater to this woman & it wouldn't bother me one bit to tell her that! This is your holiday too & it should not be ruined trying to keep your eyes on her brat! I called her and said, 'I got your voice message yesterday and I am really embarrassed that I did say this was an adults only party.'   I did tell her there would be no other children here and lots of fireworks and drinking. I also told her that other people were bringing side dishes and I really couldn't tell them what to put in their food. I told her I really hoped they could get a sitter and join us. But I really didn't think bringing the children was a good idea. She was gracious and said she would get a sitter and asked me what she could bring...whew!!  LOL...I am so glad your gut reactions are like mine!  LOL   The little bugger would not starve...she is more than chunky. I know they are having a difficult time with her and a lot of the problems are going  psychological issues. She has an appointment with a child psychologist next week.  But I really didn't want the child around.  I do agree they are now going to have to start acting like RESPONSIBLE parents. Can you imagine starting over with kids!  OH MERCY!!!

I want to think she just wasn't thinking.  It is not unusual for people to call at the last moment and ask if they can bring someone along. I always have more than enuf. And  my SIL doesn't like raw onions so when she is coming I usually take some of whatever I am making... say potato salad....and put it separately before adding onions. I think my friend knows this and probably (I hope) that's what she meant...but the brat is NOT my sister in law!!  But it's all good now....(I hope)

NEWPORT, Del. -- The National Earthquake Center says a small
earthquake felt Wednesday in the Wilmington, Del. area had its
epicenter in southern New Jersey.

The center says the earthquake measured 2.8 on the Richter scale - up from an earlier estimate of 2.7. That's big enough to feel, but too small to cause much damage.

The epicenter was near Mannington Township, near the Delaware
River.

Salem County, N.J., deputy administrator Robin Weinstein says he
felt shaking in his emergency management office at 9:46 a.m. No
injuries or damage were reported.

A spokesman for PSE&G Nuclear, which operates three nuclear
power plants in Salem County, says the quake was too minor to
register on the plant's monitoring devices and the plants are
running at full power.

LOL..OK..I was!!  I have had a busy week so far...trying to get the house in tip top shape as well as the yard.  I hope to have a great weekend too and am sure I will....we are so looking forward to seeing our friends from Houston...we haven't seen them since we moved up here 2 years ago although we talk several times a week it isn't the same as sitting down face to face.
