Some how we need to get DSS to open their eyes and start caring what happens to our children, when will our children start having rights ... I am getting so sick of lazy social workers who are scared to open a can of worms.

DSS: When a Child Dies, We Try Not to Penalize Anyone for Their Mistakes. It’s More of a “Lessons Learned” Situation.

So begins the usual DSS shuffle after the death of a child they had had multiple child abuse reports on.

It’s the usual … “did not fail Addison Grace Lanham…”, “attempting to locate her and she was attempting not to be found…” hocus-pocus except that Gaston County Commissioner Tom Keigher is actually asking state legislators in Raleigh who are buzzing about the Lanham case — good for them — to shut up.

The lessons learned means what to Zahra?  Jazzy, I so agree with you.

HICKORY, N.C. -- Adam Baker appeared in court today on charges of identity theft and obtaining property under false pretenses.

Baker's lawyers were granted a continuance so they could have time to file for a change of venue in his trail.

His lawyers are arguing Baker will not get a fair trial in Catawba County due to the heavy media coverage of his daughter's murder case.

 ::snipping2::

Baker will again appear in court on November 7.

Agree.  And I don't think that he's much of a man, either.

Judge to decide where to move NC stepmom's trial

Forty-three-year-old Elisa Baker is charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice in the death of Zahra Baker, the freckle-faced Australian girl who had a prosthetic leg and hearing aids because of her fight with bone cancer. Elisa Baker also is being arraigned Monday on those charges.
Citing intense pretrial publicity, Superior Court Judge Timothy Kincaid agreed to move the trial.

Baker trial location decision delayed
By: Sarah Newell williamson
Monday, September 12, 2011

NEWTON --
Elisa Baker was in court Monday to be arraigned on second-degree murder charges for the death of her stepdaughter, Zahra Baker.

A decision on where to hold the murder trial was expected Monday, but that ruling was postponed until Wednesday morning.

 ::snipping2::

Baker’s attorney, Scott Reilly, had asked for Baker’s trial to be moved outside of Catawba County because of the publicity surrounding the case. At an August hearing, Reilly said the publicity in the case has been “overwhelming,” and that it would be impossible for Baker to get a fair trial.

Catawba County Superior Court Judge Timothy Kincaid agreed. Baker is facing nine felony counts in state court, including the murder charge and obstruction of justice in the investigation.

He asked the district attorney’s office and Reilly to come to Monday’s hearing with a list of counties they were interested in having the case tried in.

Plea deal expected in Zahra's murder case
Elisa Baker’s defense says he's in negotiations with prosecution now.
By Franco Ordoñez
Posted: Monday, Sep. 12, 2011

Prosecutors and defense attorneys are in negotiations that could put an end to the nearly year-long murder case of 10-year-old Zahra Baker of Hickory.

Defense Attorney Scott Reilly told the ******* Monday night that he is in discussions with District Attorney Jay Gaither on resolving the second-degree murder charges against Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker, possibly as early as Wednesday.

"We're having productive discussions and we're working toward the goal of resolving the cases," he said.

On Monday, Elisa Baker returned to Catawba County court for a change of venue hearing. But Superior Court Judge Timothy Kincaid postponed it until Wednesday to allow the attorneys to continue negotiations.

Reilly would not discuss specifics of any plea deal, but said he wants to advise his client on her best options based on the prosecution's case. If convicted of second-degree murder, Baker could face as few as eight years - or as many as 30 - in prison.

Thank you, cubbeegirl, for the article.  It was nice of him to set up a memorial to keep her memory alive.  Zahra's smile, courage and positive outlook touched the hearts of many people around the world.

Updated: 6:22 pm EDT September 14, 2011

HICKORY, N.C. -- Zahra Baker’s biological mother is on the way to Hickory from Australia to be inside the courtroom on Thursday, when the case could end in a plea deal. Zahra's father, Adam, will also be there.

Adam Baker told Channel 9 reporter Dave Faherty that he wanted to be there to make sure there was justice for Zahra.

From the beginning of the investigation into the disappearance of the 10-year-old Hickory girl, Baker has denied knowing anything about what happened to his daughter.

http://www.wbtv.com/story/15470251/grisly-details-revealed-in-elisa-bakers-plea-deal

This shows that Adam Baker could not have been involved in the murder and disposal of Zahra  on September 24th and that Elisa sent texts to him on Oct 10 that implied Zahra was still alive.  He is still a POS!  I still believe he was at the least involved in helping her hide it at the end.

Elisa is so horribly evil, I pray that something will happen that she will not be released back into the public in 14 to 18 years.
