My  comment:

Each dog carries with it an accuracy rating that is considered in court.  These are individual and records are kept specific to the individual dog.

I don't think the Dutch would transport one half way around the world without at least a 90% accuracy rating.  Different certification requires different ratings.  For example, I believe the Air Force requires that 90% accuracy rating but I have no idea what the Dutch require in this area.

Now I am curious about this and when I have more time will see if I can find anything on it.

Red might have an idea if that sort of information is available as he assisted in the search the day TES did the one next door to the Sloot property IIRC, remember seeing the photos he took so he might recall if they had dimensions to work from or just visuals.

There has been no searching around the lighthouse that we know of. There have been photographers up and about all of the suspect locations all day.

Easy took us for a ride, atrobe!

I wonder if the neighbor was awakened the previous night and was very weary of it and so told Deepak to turn down that radio out of concern they were getting wound up for yet another night of loud noise coming from the Sloot compound.

And I find out two days ago that the Aruban authorities never took this man's statement. Beth and I are going, It's unbelievable. But you know what? They didn't take my statement until 30 days later, and I sat there and talked to the man for two hours, and his son. And they didn't take any of the statements from the people that were there. I probably had seven people in my so-called search party that night that we hit the ground, and it took them 19 days to take their statements.

I guess the Marines, FBI and TexMex didn't have sophisticated equipment.

Wireless service does not appear to be island wide, but there are "hotspots".  IMO, the VDS residence would not be close enough to pick up the signal from a hotspot. The nearest hotspot that I can think of to the VDS residence is the Mill resort (that will bring Hammer out of hiding  :wink: ).  There are others downtown and along Palm Beach..

I suspect the VDS have a home network with the laptop picking up the signal from inside one of the buildings in their compound..

Update on the Lighthouse search from Easywriter and Jossy:

UPDATE I:

This morning two vans arrived and parked behind the California Lighthouse. Officials along with trained dogs exited the vehicles and began a cursory inspection of the area. It is now believed that they were evaluating the site before making a more thorough search, because the time reporters could get to the scene they were gone. Time will answer that question.

Yes Sleuth that is the neighbor.  I just didn't know whether Joran's apartment was the front or back.  There is another picture out there where we see part of the house.  It is not the one with the monkey.

Well, that sounds more like a planned search than just photographers as per Glenda comment:
There has been no searching around the lighthouse that we know of. There have been photographers up and about all of the suspect locations all day.

Good to know...because I was feeling really stupid.  I had resized and miniaturized several pics...and nothing!

RE: Jug - I always liked him, admired his directness.  He called a spade a spade - and knew they were getting the run around from the get go.  Of course, his approach may not have worked in the family's best interests in dealing with the Aruban THUGS, but he definitely wanted only the best for his family.  I feel terrible that this took such a heavy toll on him as well.

RE: The Monkeys - I just want to say something Mushy right now (are you listening Mishy?).  You're all the BEST!  I haven't been posting for a long time...nothing constructive to say...I mean, how long have we all analyzed this up and down?  But, I've been here reading the front page every day.  I really admire everyone's dedication to the cause.  This case has tested my faith in a big way...it's one person, Natalee, and her family - and there's a whole lot of crimes and ugliness in the world.  But to see this family catch NO breaks at all over this time period - and to see evil prevail in this case to date - well, it's been tough and I've had to step away to regain a sense of positivity about the world.  I pray every day for resolution to this case and peace and healing (whatever can be hoped for) for the family.  Let's hope we're on the brink of something really wonderful - ie, putting these criminals where they belong!

1. TES is going to Aruba early May.  
2. Easy received an update from Jossy and posted on the FP that there has been some investigative things happening in back of the lighthouse - vans with dogs were there briefly.  Speculation that they were scoping out an area to search.
3.  Check the front page - Jossy has supplied a bunch of photos to Red.

I was picking thu the 171 doc. Page 93 ( I can't copy and paste ) a mention is made of Sprint phone records for Paul Brough.
Alyse and Bailey also gave FBI statements.
Hmm they were areas of interest.

It appears KLPD took a quick look at the Lighthouse area this morning.  They didn't stay long so we don't know if they were assessing the area for future searches or what.

I did too Sleuth.  In a case like this you need a person like Jug.  He was not going to let them pull the wool over his eyes.  Dave could not have done what Jug did.  Jug took a lot of critisim and he stood his ground.  Every time I saw Dave on the news he would say I'm a man with a lot of patience.  Jug was the mouth piece.  It was sort of like good cop bad cop.

When I was a kid I threw a rock at a kid and hit him in the head. I was about 6 years old. I hurt this lil boy pretty badly (his name was Paul Deeb). When my mother found out, she marched me right down to his house and made me apologize directly to him and his family.

Then she told me I was going to pay for the doctors treatment. I didnt know what that really meant and I obviously didn't have a job...Well, I had one the next day, my job was to do everything that lil boy was supposed to do. All his chores.

Take note ... the date of the search ... almost one year following the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.  The original delaractions of the main suspects were that Natalee had been driven to the lighthouse prior to being dropped off at the Holiday Inn.

ORANJESTAD – During the weekend, work for the search of Natalee Holloway continued in Aruba. From Wednesday, the work for the search intensified with the special group from Holland which came with a total of 11 persons and 2 special dogs to search, and continued over the weekend. Their focus this weekend was around the Lighthouse dunes. But they still haven’t located anything concrete of the Holloway person.

SOPHISTICATED EQUIPMENT

It was of note during the weekend how the search was planned, using sophisticated equipment, such as a subterranean radar, which registers specific activity underground. At the same time, helicopters were used to survey along with the radar as well. Another group was in charge of the dogs, but it could be noted that one dog was used at a time.

SYSTEMATIC WORK

The manner in how they let the dogs work was systematic. Certain terrain was marked with long blue ‘spaca’ [lines?], where the dog had to stay inside and leave all that was found. Tied with a pretty long chain and with assistance from its trainer, the dog was smelling around where he believed it was necessary.

PRESS

Another person who was in the action was those who have to cover certain locations that the dog indicated. But again, nothing was achieved. As long as this work was happening, a group of police on quad-racers was watching over and controlling the work of this Dutch team. For security reasons, the press was not allowed to come too close, more so for the protection of the work being done, and for the dogs’ concentration.

It was at a distance that certain members of the press were able to cover this search, as the photographs indicate. The search will continue for one more week, before the Dutch team returns to Holland another week.

HOLLOWAY:  I saw when they released these kids back in September they were ready for this case to be closed. I mention in the book, with all these red flags, a conversation with the lead detective who pretty much wanted to close the case down and say it’s over with, get back to tourism.  In my opinion, they thought more about tourism than they thought about Natalee’s case. In fact, they didn’t want it to tarnish their image of tourism — one happy island, no crime and everybody going their own way.

Update on Miami Travel Show..

Today, Sunday 29 April 2005 I just got home, no traffic so it only took 4 hrs 10 min, 269 miles. I do have many pics and as soon as I put them into computer they will be posted. Today was not that busy like yesterday was but we had a chance to actually talk to English speaking people lol, all the buttons are gone almost all the flyer's also, again I put the 8 ft banner up on the marquee, that was not on there property, thats why I did it, I am bold, also another one we tied to two trees. So many said they would pray, and last night we were on the Spanish news channel, they were talking about the protest, I love it. Got to show today at 10:00am, it started to rain around 2:30pm, plus no one was coming then, I went to the store and got me some food, then back to fill up van, NO ONE was even driving in place. thats about it folks, pics will be next.

WOOD:  I was kicking around in the sand and a belt popped up so I put it in my car. I asked the cops if they wanted it and they said to bring it in in  the morning. I went back and hooked up with Eduardo.  We were going to interview some people.  Later, I was making a mental note to take the belt to the police but I kept thinking I saw that belt before.  So I went to the newspaper and started looking at file photos and I find that picture of Joran chocking somebody with the belt.

It's a distinctive belt.  It has some kind of striations, brown leather, very wide, good thick leather belt and amazingly it's a real long belt. When I took it to the police, the lead investigator at that time, one of the chief people was a guy was Tromp, I gave it personally to him and he took a statement from me.  He said "Wow, this is identical".  This is important. I later find out they did nothing with it.  They didn't sent to Holland.  They determined the belt was too old.  It had been in the sand long time.

Let me tell you something.  For them to say it was too old and would not fit Joran. I said nobody said Joran wore this belt,.  It was a prop in the photo.  He is choking a kid in the photo.  They missed the point.  So actually, I had gone through an attorney to get the belt back.  I was going to send to a lab myself. We don't know what happened to the belt

Add in the losses since then and it is around 800 million.. monies on and off the books.

Total 1.5 billion minimum.

As for those involved in the ulitmate outcome of the case.. they had no crystal ball and thoughtb this was gonna be as easy as Max Devries...

Here is where Janet chimes in and says ~ they didnt count on one remarkable and determined woman named Beth Twitty... they screwed themselves..

I would love to see a class action lawsuit by and not limited to -

I suspect that Natalee Holloway’s remains will be returned to her loving family … her country … a futile appeasement attempt. Joran … maybe Deepak … will be held accountable … accountable for disposing of Natalee after she “apparently” died of a drug overdose.  The consequences ... a slap on the wrist.

Did Shango's "theory" not imply that the Joran (Lamb) would be the sacrifice while Paulus (Elder) and the "powers that be" (Dirty Hands) would be spared?

Tamikosmom, I agree that the outcome of the case would be what you predict had they not been able to stop the investigation in 2005.  I do believe that was the plan, as Shango told us.  

However, if this investigative team finds blood evidence in the VDS home, evidence of violence, then the overdose story will not fly.  If this team can uncover evidence as well as her remains, Joran will not only be held accountable for her disposal, but Paulus will also be charged with his crimes.

I read your theory and I have meant to respond. I think it is a good possibility. I am just not sure that Natalee is recoverable judging by the confidence of the sloots. I think it could happen that way..Something has to be done so we can all move on.

One part of me, the logical and dispassionate part, agrees with you based on everything I've seen and know about power and politics.

The other part of me, the emotional and moral part, wants them all to go down in a blaze!  I want justice served and no one spared.  I still hope for this based on the public dressing down Paulus received from his fellow judge.  I think the administration of Aruba sees Paulus as an embarresment and a problem.  How far they will go to resolve this problem remains to be seen.

Dearest Monkeys~ I am proud to be a part of this family! I believe that our efforts have contributed to the pressure that has been consistently applied to Aruba to do the right thing. Between informing various agencies, medias, Nat's family, writing on US currency, telling others about the travesty of injustice, the travel shows, etc., we have helped to turn this toward the right direction. Natalee became our daughter, her family our family, and each of us family to one another. The passion for justice lives in all of us. Granted, that passion has led to some heated discussions, both regarding the case and  in other forums (oddly enough, the political forum readily comes to mind~ LOL!   :P ). That passion has been an integral part of the pursuit of justice for Natalee, a beautiful soul taken from the world. I love you, Natalee.

Those are GSDs - very lean to our standards but that is how the Germans/Europeans say they should be.  Standard states so many (3 or 4?) ribs should be showing when standing still.
We prefer the ribs covered, otherwise they look anorexic.  Need some stamina also to work all day at their natural job of herding and protecting.

No Dutch Shepherd - closest is Belgian Shepherd but longer coat.  Only Dutch dog is Keeshond (Dutch Barge Dog).

Above is all from memory only so may differ slightly.  And can get long coats in GSD but considered a fault as they usually lack undercoat.

So much of the British (English) is taken from the Latin that we Americans have omitted from our language.  It's all about what we are accustomed to.  I do love hearing Aussies and Brits speak.  I did love old Great Britain but I so fear for her future.  My family were all from there, and I suppose my forefathers would be rolling over in their graves at what has occurred there in the last few years.  So if push comes to pull, can I become an Aussie.

For one thing, all that ROTFLMAO at inappropriate things was a very big tip off.  She used to post that about gruesome and shocking things.  It was gross!  And disgusting!

No matter what, this is still about somebody's missing, likely dead and exploited child and when a person loses total sight of that, a red flag should go up.

I know, Klaas.  The BS between Bondia and the tiara person were what caused me to lose my temper and say things I should not have said that night long ago.  It took me a long time to regain enough trust to come back to SM--but I'm so glad I did.  I learned a lot (mostly how to hold my comments to myself!) and understand more about them now.
