I never thought that I would have a physical negative reaction from just seeing a person but Lyon has me there now.  How dare she demean other woman just to seem more important.  Her comment about I was one of the first woman in...well there was another woman but she had a brush cut.  WTF?  So it is not OK for a woman to choose to have short hair, or to have it cut short due to some medical reason.  How dare she judge and make it sound dirty that a woman has short hair.  I hope that some unforeseen reason finds that the mop of unkept moppage starts falling out in clumps off her head and then reappears on her chin and face.  Then she can say but I was the first woman who was lead attorney with a beard and mostache.

Sorry if the rant offended anyone
No offense taken, Northern Rose.  I agree with you on Lyons.  I posted the other day about her emotional stupidity.  She just doesn't see how awful her remarks are, she has a colorblindness about what would be offensive, which to me speaks volumes about her own narcissism.  Her intolerances abound, but I'll bet she is the first one to scream about bias against women and minorities. I, like you, have a visceral reaction to this woman, and it has nothing to do with her girth or general unattractiveness.   When Linda Drane-Burdick was talking and she said that she wasn't there for the family, but only for Caylee, Lyons mouthed "Oh, my God," and rolled her eyes.  It was that callousness towards the true victim in this case that created my contempt for her.

Monk~  all so true.  Sometimes it seems a lawyer like her has tunnel vision, all they want is their client (killer, abuser, whatever) to get off but I think often times especially in this case, it has nothing to do with the client.I think it has to do with one thing and that's her ego. It seems like this is the case more and more. High profile crimes are eclipsed by the antics and media whoring of the lawyers. The crime and more importantly the victims are a distant sideshow.

Casey's Defense Wants Focus To Stay On Kronk
Posted: 7:48 am EST January 22, 2010
Updated: 10:45 am EST January 22, 2010
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- New motions in the case against Casey Anthony show the defense is still trying to pin Caylee's murder on former meter reader Roy Kronk, who found her remains on December 11 in a wooded area near the Anthony family home.
The defense wants to depose one of his ex-wives, who claims Kronk bound her with duct tape more than once while they were married. Caylee's body was found with duct tape over her mouth.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in the case are once again requesting that Casey's lawyers disclose the witnesses they plan to call and begin questioning the investigators in the case.

Both sides are aiming for a trial in the summer of 2010.

thanks trim.  I was wondering why the felt the need to enter a motion to take a depo?  Reading the depo makes it clear. They want to use her depo as testimony....................I don't think that can fly as the State cannot cross examine a depo.

Eloquently put, MizJay.  The one common thread joining all the participants in the defense of the indefensible Casey seems to be inflated egos.

Unbelievable....no examination of any evidence or expert testimony

and then they go dig up disgruntled ex-wives of "their" suspect (Kronk), BUT don't want to give prosecutors witness info for the state to depose.....why am I not surprised.

scum...the whole bunch of them................... sounds like they are going to delay as long as possible and then try to get a last minute plea deal.............I hope Kronk can sue all of them!!

Kronk's Ex-Wife To Give Testimony Monday
Kerley Believes Kronk Should Be Considered Suspect In Caylee's Death

POSTED: 3:07 pm EST January 22, 2010
UPDATED: 4:46 pm EST January 22, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. --
Casey Anthony's attorneys will try to gain sworn testimony Monday from a woman who said Roy Kronk should be considered a suspect in Caylee's death.

Kronk is the meter reader who found the 2-year-old remains in a wooded area off Suburban Drive near the Anthony family home in December 2008 and denies having anything to do with her death.

The testimony will come from Jill Kerley, Kronk's ex-wife.

Anthony's defense team will argue that they need Kerley's testimony as soon as possible because she is sick with cancer.

During a turbulent marriage, Kerley said Kronk twice restrained her with duct tape. The allegations are potentially significant because Caylee Anthony's skull had duct tape across the mouth, according to investigators
Anthony's attorneys will argue Monday they should be allowed to introduce Kerley's testimony that she believes Kronk should be "considered a suspect" in Caylee's death.

The last time he spoke out on the matter, Kronk denied having done anything but finding Caylee's remains.

"I know I've done nothing wrong so I have no reason to be troubled or fearful by this," Kronk said.

Despite Kronk's denials, defense attorney Richard Hornsby said he believed it is likely Judge Stan Strickland will allow Anthony's defense to introduce this unflattering testimony -- and it could help introduce doubt in jurors' minds.

"Most defense attorney's win their cases by challenging the credibility of the witnesses against their client," Hornsby said.

To add credibility to the theory of Kronk as a suspect, Anthony's defense needs testimony that Caylee's body was not there until after Anthony was locked up.
Also Monday, it will be determined if Anthony will accept a plea deal in her check fraud case.

Casey Case: Volunteers’ Private Information May Be Made Public
Friday, January 22, 2010 4:59:51 PM
ORLANDO -- A judge granted a continuation for the volunteer search group Texas EquuSearch.

The defense wants any and all information on the hundreds of volunteers who joined in the search for Caylee Anthony.

More than a year later after people volunteered their time, their private information, including their address and phone numbers, could be for all to see.

Texas EquuSearch handed over information on 32 people to the defense. It said only those searchers combed through the area where Caylee's remains were eventually found.

The defense said "evidence discovered by the defense shows that statements made by Texas EquuSearch (TES) to the court were inaccurate."
"If the organization itself said these are the only 32 people in the area and now they've been called out and that's not accurate as the defenses' motion states, then it's the organization's own fault,” said Will Jay, a legal expert.

But it's you who could pay.

The defense demanded all documents relating to the search.

Under Florida's public information laws, that means anyone can view the information.

"That's the risk you run,” Jay said. “Sometimes when you sign up to volunteer for things, you have to expect that you might be the one that finds the body or in this instant what's relevant is that nobody did find the body."

The judge was expected to hear this motion Monday, but News 13 has just learned it won't happen.

Mark NeJame, who represents Texas EquuSearch, filed a continuation and it was granted Friday afternoon.

NeJame said this will likely come up again in February.

The hearing is at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Guilty Plea Expected Monday In Casey Check Fraud Case

Posted: 4:28 pm EST January 22, 2010Updated: 4:41 pm EST January 22, 2010

Comment On This Story ››
ORLANDO, Fla. -- There is a major hearing coming up in the case against Casey Anthony. On Monday January 25 at 1:30pm, for the first time, the public could actually hear Casey Anthony admit she's guilty of something.
MOTIONS TO BE HEARD
Kronk's ex  http://www.wftv.com/pdf/22313192/detail.html
Modify Order  http://www.wftv.com/pdf/22313189/detail.html
Motion to Compel  http://www.wftv.com/pdf/22313211/detail.html
In Monday's hearing, Casey is expected to plead guilty in her check fraud case. Casey's defense team will also make several motions Monday in the murder case.

Casey may go to trial for her daughter's murder as a convicted felon. That could be the most significant outcome Monday if Casey goes through with her defense’s plan to offer a plea in her check fraud case.

Casey is planning to take her plea directly to the judge, with the hopes of a more lenient sentence on charges she stole her ex-best friend's checks, forged them and cashed them to buy beer and clothes. Casey will have to stand up in court and admit to it.

“Own it. Take responsibility for it, without equivocation,” WFTV legal Analyst Bill Sheaffer said.

Casey Anthony: Guilty plea ‘looks like a go’ in check-fraud case, WFTV says
Caylee ID, Caylee and Casey Anthony, WESH, WFTV — posted by halboedeker on January, 22 2010 5:39 PM

What’s coming Monday in Casey Anthony’s check-fraud case?

“Casey is expected to plead guilty” to something, WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Martie Salt said.

“There’s still time for Casey to change her mind, but so far, it looks like the plea is a go,” WFTV’s Kathi Belich said. Belich cited “sources close to the case” who say that Anthony will take her plea to the judge in hopes of a more lenient sentence.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said Anthony must “own it, take responsibility for it without equivocation.”

WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing put the issue this way: “We should finally find out whether Casey has accepted a plea deal.”

The speculation will continue until a court hearing Monday afternoon.

And after that?

“The big question will be: Will the judge put a felony conviction on her record?” Belich asked. “Will Casey Anthony go to trial for her daughter’s murder as convicted felon?” Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of daughter Caylee.

The stations explored a new defense motion that says Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found toddler Caylee’s remains, should be a suspect in the case. The reason: Kronk’s ex-wife says he used duct tape her, and duct tape was found on Caylee’s remains.

WESH replayed old footage of Kronk denying doing anything wrong in finding Caylee’s remains.

On WESH, Orlando defense attorney Richard Hornsby predicted that Judge Stan Strickland will allow the defense to introduce unflattering testimony about Kronk.

On WFTV, Belich reported that the defense will seek the judge’s permission to get testimony from Kronk’s ex-wife, who cannot travel to Florida for health reasons. Whether Strickland would allow the testimony to be introduced is another matter, Belich added.

The stations played footage of the ex-wife saying she suspects Kronk of killing Caylee or having something to do with the child’s death.

Also Monday, prosecutors will argue to get information that they say the defense has been withholding from them, Kealing reported.
