Thank you Nut and Trimm....this case hangs on me like no other.
IMOO How in the world is that mother allowed to walk among society? How does that B... live with herself? I would think the general public would have such anger and animousity towards that woman she would not be safe. Years ago I lived in a place where people sometimes got drunk and run off the side of the road. Not saying it is right, just that is one part of human nature...
I'm sorry and if this post is too ugly then I understand if it needs to be removed.
Terri
Terri, the longer I am a monkey, the closer I get to wanting to take justice in my own hands. Sometimes it is scary, because I really think I could do it and walk away and not feel guilty.

It is not only the people involved, I am also disgusted with those that would talk to her, be her "friend" etc. Where is shunning, where is the big Scarlet A?
Given that my family is filled with addicts, you cannot convince me the mother is not still using. I have heard all of the excuses an addict uses, they are never responsible for anything or what happens to those they "love".
As you said, the longer you are a monkey.....
In my area there is a missing family of three. They found the fourth victim, a thirteen year old girl, bound and gagged in a basement. The person responsible is sitting warm in jail while everyone is out searching for the missing three...I can HONESTLY tell you I think it should be legal to torture him until he tells the whereabouts of the family, living or dead.

2010's Top 10 Victories in the Fight Against Human Trafficking
December 30, 2010
2010 has been a banner year for the fight against human trafficking. Activists from across the country and around the world have come together to hold companies accountable for slavery in their supply chains, fought to end the sale of sex trafficking victims online, and worked to make the American food industry slave-free. And as a result, laws have been passed, corporate policies have been changed, and traffickers have fewer places to advertise for trafficked people. Check out the top ten victories won in the fight against human trafficking in 2010.(snipped)
(There are 10 listed in case someone wants to read the entire list, but I've snipped the one that came about as a result of the crimes against Shaniya Davis)
(snipped)
10. Choice Hotels took action to prevent child prostitution. The tragic death of
5-year-old Shaniya Davis
after being sold into prostitution at a Comfort Inn prompted a campaign asking parent company Choice Hotels to prevent child prostitution in their hotels. After receiving letters from over 4,200 Change.org members, they agreed to incorporate child trafficking into their employee training.(snipped)

New district attorney faces big challenges
December 30, 2010
When Billy West is sworn in as Cumberland County's first new district attorney in more than 35 years on Saturday, he'll likely have little time to bask in his new position.
West, 36, will inherit several high-profile cases and the task of dealing with other issues facing the office, such as budget constraints and a crowded jail.
The cases include the prosecution of suspected serial rapist Aaron Pernell and those charged in the disappearance and death of 5-year-old Shaniya Davis.
Pernell, a Fort Bragg soldier, is accused in a series of rapes and other crimes in Cumberland and Hoke counties. In December, he was convicted on Fort Bragg and sentenced to 50 years in a military prison for a rape that took place on post. His civilian charges are pending.
In the Shaniya Davis case, Mario Andrette McNeil has been charged with kidnapping, rape and murder. The girl's mother, Antoniette Davis, is charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution.
Neither has been indicted.
West also could determine when the Spring Lake Police Department has its felony arrest powers reinstated.
The department has been without those powers since 2007, when judicial officials stripped those abilities because of the botched investigation of a child's death. Town officers were stripped of their misdemeanor arrest powers in May 2009, following the arrests of two supervising officers on charges that included embezzlement, breaking and entering, and obstruction of justice.
Spring Lake police regained their misdemeanor powers earlier this year, and Police Chief Troy McDuffie hopes to regain some of the felony arrest powers in mid-2011. Neither current District Attorney Ed Grannis nor West have commented on the town's plan.
In interviews last month, courthouse officials and lawyers discussed some of the challenges West will face when he takes over for Grannis.
He is expected to see a continuously growing backlog of cases, ongoing growth related to changes on Fort Bragg that could continue to stretch law enforcement and the judicial system, and a strict budget that has been outpaced by workloads in recent years.
When asked about the challenges that he's inheriting, West was quick to reference budget shortfalls and community growth, both of which would put additional strains on his office as the number of cases is expected to continue to grow.
West said he plans to continue and expand on changes made by Grannis to integrate technology, reduce office supply costs and streamline work.
"Technology is one way to try to combat the growing caseload," he said.
West said his biggest challenge would be the community's growth with the military's Base Closure and Realignment process.
"Cumberland County continues to grow," West said. "The military expects quality law enforcement. The District Attorney's Office has a critical role to play."
Although West has worked in the District Attorney's Office for a while, he will have adjustments to make.
As a prosecutor, Chief District Court Judge Beth Keever said, he could emphasize individual cases. But as the district attorney, he is responsible for the entire system.
He has to know law enforcement and case trends, Keever said.
West's grooming for the position under Grannis will be a plus as he makes the transition into the leadership position, she said.
Lawyer and former Superior Court Judge Coy Brewer said that on top of the professional challenges, West also will have the challenge of overcoming his relatively young age.
Brewer speaks from experience. He was sworn in as a judge at age 30. He said the bias some in the courthouse will have against a young district attorney is real, even though West "has a maturity beyond his age."
But Brewer said he doesn't expect that to bother West for long.
"He has a lot of energy and that will be a lot of help to the office moving forward," he said. "The one thing about being young and facing the challenge of youth is that time will ultimately solve that problem."
West said he doesn't believe his age will be an issue because of his experience and knowledge of the office. He has worked under Grannis for more than 10 years, he said.
"Everything from seatbelt tickets to murder cases, I've been involved with at some point," he said. "My experience will make it a smoother transition."
Lawyer Jerry Beaver said West's most difficult task outside of a stingy legislature will be changing the way the District Attorney's Office has operated.
"The hardest thing for him will be to effect changes," he said.
Still, Beaver believes West will win that battle in the end.
"He's gregarious, outgoing, friendly and very pleasant," Beaver said. "But you shouldn't be put off by his easygoing manner. He won't roll over and give the courthouse away."

I had no earthly idea neither Mario Andrette McNeil nor Shaniya's (sorry excuse for a)mother Antoinette Davis haven't been indicted.

Man accused of murdering Shaniya Davis wants to be released from prison
The man accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering Shaniya Davis wants to be released from Central Prison in Raleigh, where he is awaiting trial.
The letter, received by the Clerk of Superior Court's office in January, is three lines long.
It says "To whom this may concern; Release me. It's easiest."
It's signed by Mario A. McNeill, written in cursive and printed beneath that signature.
::snipping2::
Neither McNeill nor Davis has yet been indicted by the grand jury, which must happen before the cases can be tried
