If Joran is running to a country that would possibly not extradite him, why didn't he go over into Brazil?  It's even closer to Peru than Argentina.  Just wondering...

Do you mean Bolivia?

No, actually, I was thinking Brazil.  I may be "wrong", but isn't Brazil a country that won't extradite....or am I getting it mixed up with won't extradite to the USA because of the death penalty.  (I'm probably thinking wrong here because I don't know foreign country laws).

Yes, I think the brazil will not extradite somebody will face the death penalty.

Sniped from the above article linked

Tacopina cautioned against a rush to judgment.

"Joran van der Sloot has been falsely accused of murder once before. The fact is he wears a bull's-eye on his back now and he is a quote-unquote usual suspect when it comes to allegations of foul play," Tacopina said.

Yo Taco, did it ever occur to you that you are ruining what is left of your career defending this monster?   Are you listening to yourself, because to the rest of the world that has an ounce of logic knows what your client did do once was get away with murder....earth to Taco  NOT THIS TIME!

Peru asks Netherlands for murder captured
11:44 PM Lima .- Peru police on Wednesday requested the international arrest of a citizen Dutchman suspected of murdering a young Peruvian, and also involved in the disappearance of a U.S. five years ago in Aruba.

According to information from Reuters, the suspect left the country on Monday and joined by a border crossing to Chilean territory, confirmed Wednesday night the police of the neighboring nation.

The Dutchman Joran Van Der Sloot was identified by police of killing with a knife on Sunday, in a hotel in Lima, a Peruvian girl of 21 years, unaccounted for since Friday, according to his family reported.

The head of the forensic address Peru, César Guard general told a news conference that the victim's body was found early on Wednesday in a hotel room located in a residential neighborhood of Lima.

"We have information that is in Chile (...) we are resorting to international treaties in order to effectuate his arrest," said Guard told reporters.

Later, the Chilean civil police reported that on May 31 the citizens Netherlands, 23, entered the country at the border of Chacalluta and after learning of the international arrest warrant was available a special device for your arrest.

"We requested information for the location of their whereabouts," he told local radio Douglas Rodriguez, police chief of Investigation (PDI) in the northern Chilean city of Arica.

"There is a police operation here in the region are coordinated (...) to see if we can precisely locate their whereabouts," he said.

Van Der Sloot entered Peru on May 14 from Colombia, according to police.

"The staff is murder conviction incriminating items, which until now has been raised that this citizen Dutchman is the perpetrator of the murder of Flores Stephany," said police chief.

The victim's father, Ricardo Flores, a renowned Peruvian pilot, told reporters that his daughter was seen leaving a casino with Van Der Sloot in the early hours of Sunday 30 May.

"They say my daughter has been stabbed, I imagine you've had a fight, that will be determined by autopsy," said Flores told reporters.

"I hope that this crime not goes unpunished as was the crime of Aruba," he said between sobs.

For its part, the Guard official said the Dutchman is a "dangerous person" because in 2005 he was arrested as a suspect in the disappearance of an American citizen in the Caribbean island of Aruba.

"We have information that in both (cases the victims) are fond of poker game and we presume that in these circumstances are met," said Guard.

I think this is the website for the hotel. $16.00 day. Explains why no maids entered and discovered the girl between Sunday and Wednesday.

http://www.guiahostal.com/lima/hotel_tac.htm
OMG that hotel is or people just go there to have sex .....they just pay for hours.....nasty that area is very dangerous..I though that guy had money
I think Joran tried to ACT like he had money.  Just a druggie without a job that played poker for play money.  His family has some money but not Joran.  So what is the word in Lima?  Anything different from what we are hearing or anything new?
The atlantis gives you free cigarrets, drinks and food (sandwhiches, soups etc) the hole night when you are playing ....... the hotel is in Miraflores a nice area in Lima but  it is exactly located on Republica the panama ( mayor freeway that crosses Miraflores) is a no no area to stay.
Stephany is in the news in Peru because her father is a very influent person in Peru.

Thanks, Cecilita.  Hopefully, then, with Stephany's father being an influent person in Peru that he will have enough pull, enough people behind him, to demand and get all the attention that can be had on finding Joran.

I would really be justice if Stephany's father's influence could put Joran away forever; just opposite of Joran's father's influence kept Joran from being put away with respect to Natalee.

If what people are saying is true --- "forever" won't be more than a few days!!!

Found this explanation of Stephany's father's background helpful:

The victim's father is a 48-year-old former president of the Peruvian Automobile Club who won the "Caminos del Inca" rally in 1991 and brings circuses and foreign entertainers to Peru. He ran for vice president in 2001 and for president five years later on fringe tickets.

If Joran is still in deep mourning for his Dad (which he probably is) and with the anniversary of Natalee going missing, was it just too much for him and Joran went off the deep end?

Netherlands Peru Interpol warned that he fled to Chile

By The Nation / Agencies
La Nación (Chile)
Joran Van Der Sloot is accused of being the murder of the daughter of a well-known local businessman. It has also requested information on their legal status in Holland.

Has caused uproar in Peru's murder Stephany Flores, daughter of the businessman and racer Ricardo Flores, whose murderer would, according to the local Interpol, a young Dutchman who had fled to Chile.

The acting head of Interpol Peru, commander Zojar Ortiz, confirmed to the Peruvian media that Joran Van Der Sloot would have left the country by land through the border of Santa Rosa (Tacna) on May 31 for Chile.

Interior Ministry sources confirmed yesterday Chilean La Nacion that the suspect had entered the country on that day and that the Peruvian police had made contact with the Chilean on the subject.

Ortiz also told Radio Programas del Peru that the subject does not have a warrant for his arrest at the international level, but already sent a warning to Chile not to allow him to leave the country.

Meanwhile, the head of the Criminal Investigation Department (Dirincri) of the National Police of Peru, General Cesar Guardia, said at a news conference that had already been coordinating with Interpol Chile to achieve the preliminary detention of the citizens Netherlands.

"We are coordinating with authorities in Chile are managed (...) (...) preliminary detention is necessary to locate and capture," he said.

He stated further that already have clues about the involvement of Joran Van Der Sloot (23 years) in the murder, as the young man was seen going-on the morning of Sunday, the hotel where it was found the body of the young Stephany just in the company of Flores, 21.

"The hotel employee did not hear screams, but saw them entering together," he said. Local police declined to confirm press reports that linked to Joran Van Der Sloot in the murder of a young American woman five years ago, but the commander Zojar Ortiz said that they have applied this background to the Interpol in the Netherlands.

DETAILS OF CRIME

Ricardo Flores asked yesterday to Peruvian media that the murder of his daughter does not go unpunished and recounted some details of the crime of Stephany and its alleged perpetrator.

"Even before been involved in the murder of a teenager in Aruba, where his body disappeared into the sea with the help of a friend (...) It was free because they never found the body," he lamented.

On what happened on Saturday, Flores revealed that at 2:45 his daughter left some friends in San Isidro and returned to the premises of a casino. "She retired at 5:16 (the casino) with Mr. Joran Van Der Sloot (...) was killed on Sunday," he explained.

"I would ask the police to continue to help us (...) I know that my daughter has died stabbed (...) autopsy will determine what, I hope the authorities have completed investigations," he asked.

Joran Van Der Sloot picture-in-file arrived in Peru on May 14, from Colombia, according to local police said yesterday.

No. I don't think he is capable of mourning. I don't think he marks any anniversary for Natalee. This is the man who threw a glass of wine in Peter deVries' face when he was challenged. I don't think he weighs events and feels accumulated pressure like the rest of us. It's always a new day for Joran.
