You have to admit this Joran Van Der Sloot is one cool customer. If we are to believe he killed Natalee. Look at his immediate actions.

1. He shows up at school the next day and brags about having sex with Natalee.

2. He's back at the casino the next night gambling.

3. When the Twittys show up he was willing to talk to them, it was his dad and Deepak that kept saying "don't say anything"

4. He tells his mom that prison isn't so bad, and that when Natalee shows up he's gonna kick her butt in front of Beth because of all the trouble she's gotten him into.

For a 17 yr old that just comitted a murder? This guy is rock solid.

On No. 3; could someone tell me when they heard that Deepak also said to JVDS "don't say anything!"

That would have been the first night the Twittys arrived on the island (the night after Natalee disappeared) Deepak and Joran were outside talking the second time the Twittys arrived at the Van Der Sloot residence.

It sounded from the report I read as if she was basically already on the line about to give an AP interview when the cops showed up. At least she already had the interview scheduled -- and at this point, she's probably hysterical and would want to get the word out. Beth Twitty has used the press masterfully. I imagine Anita is learning how to fight back.

None of these people (Joran, Paul, Gitmo detainees, Saddam Hussein, etc.) did anything wrong. It's just the sadistic cowboys from the United States love to interrogate or torture people for no reason.

This is nothing but a media ploy, and it's beneath contempt.

Not so sure about that one. If they are both involved there's a decomposing body somewhere. The longer they hold out, the better their chances of not being linked to it through forensic means. If Joran can hold his father surely can.

Did anyone catch the FOX talking head say that Aruba's ex-polis commissioner told him he thinks Greta broke it with the interview inconsistencies? If that's the case so much for ragging the media for being too 'aggressive'!

Even IF both the father and the son told mom EVERYTHINK, according to the dutch legal person on television, their law makes her immune.  ONLY if she took some action to help them in the crimes is she liable.

That is a compassionate portrayal of the poor woman.  No, I'm not being judgmental--just trying to put forth an explanation of why Anita seems so out of touch with the facts and reality we see.  She is confused and in a great deal of pain.  She didn't see this coming at all.  It blindsided her --big time.  Why?  Because she chooses her reality, just as we all do.  It's just that some people choose the features of their reality very selectively, ignoring those that are ugly or hateful or cruel.   They build their world the way they want it--not always the way it is.  It's most likely easier to do this on a small, tropical island working as a schoolteacher and the wife of a respected citizen than as, say, living in NYC working as a waitress and married to a laborer.  Reality doesn't intrude nearly as much and her world is quite safe.  However, this reality--this investigation--has shattered her world and we are viewing her inability to understand.  I'm not judging her--just sharing an observation and trying to understand why she acts the way she does.

Thanks for answering politely and I don't want to belabor this, but truly, it was not compassionate nor kind. You're making up this woman's life from whole cloth, based on a couple of interview snippets and your preconceived beliefs about her job, her "spirituality"  and a compost heap full of stereotypes about life in different places.

It needs to stop or be turned into something relative to the specifics of the case. Otherwise, it comes across as unadulterated bashing of a total stranger who happens to be in a lousy predicament that may or may not  have any real reflection on her as a human being.  

Sorry if I was harsh, but that's how the last three pages of Anita conjecture and condescension came across. And I do apologize for bringing it up again.

I really think that the police know much more than we do and much more than we give them credit for. I think they have caught Joran and daddy in some very obvious lies about Joran's activities that night and what daddy knows about those activities.

I agree that the police know more than they are telling us. Even the FBI told Natalee's father that they were doing a good job. Last night, on Nancy Grace, Mr. Holoway was referring to Natalee in the past tense.

I think Mr. Holloway knows a lot too bc last night when asked by Grace who he thought needed to be arrested, he said PVDS !!!

Other than obviously being a crappy mother who didn't care where/what her kids were......I don't think she is personally responsible...

I have never heard of her doing anything helpful - only heard of her endlessly being quoted as saying her sonny boy was "perfect"....

Telling of what?  Are you implying that she is covering up for the son and father and knows what happened?  I really doubt it.  Listening to her pour her heart out to Greta was revealing.  It showed she is oblivious to the reality around her.  They would never have confided in her.  She would have marched into the police and told on them immediately.  That's her reality and it bears no resemblance to the real world.

I fully agree!!!  I don't even think she's an oblivious mother.  This kid has no record, his past appears half way normal, he was loved, got good grades and played sports!  Somehow he snapped.  It does NOT mean he had a bad mother.

I base my thoughts on this:

1.  kid regularly allowed to drink and gamble UNDERAGED

2.  kid allowed to stay out late at night on school night

3.  no family member has been of ANY help in finding or searching for natalee

4.  mother has been strangely silent except to endlessly repeat her sonny boy is perfect

5.  NO compassion has beeen shown Natalee's family by the VDS family

conclusion #1 - items 1,2 reflect BAD PARENTING
items 3,4,5 shows this family has no morals and all are in complicity.  none give a damn about Natalee - only care that sonny boy has been fingered.


conclusion #2 - thank god they aren't my neighbors.  i would move before i would have that kind of trash living next door to me.

I would think number 3 would obvious. How could they be involved in searching when they are implicated.  

Numer 5 is an outright lie, Anita has shown much compassion for the family.

The rumors are swirling once again, but I have to say, it brought out a bad side from Arubans, as most had a little snicker at the obvious discomfort of the Dutch community that one of their own had been arrested.

Brenda, are you going to post even more phone numbers of people who have nothing to do with the case?

Did you see the Fox reports?

1. Joran talked to his classmates about Natalee

2. 8 or 9 more arrests forthcoming

3. Joran is not cracking in jail

4. The father and Deepak kept telling Joran "dont say anything" when the Twittys first arrived.
