Jane Symington found the edible Virgin Mary lookalike in a bag of Lay's potato chips on Friday afternoon.

Symington told FOX25 that she plans to put the chip on eBay.

More than 500 join in honoring Army officer's sacrifice.

SAN MARCOS — Hundreds of people lined the streets of San Marcos on Tuesday afternoon, waving American flags as the remains of Army Capt. Paul Peña were brought back to his hometown after his death in Afghanistan a week ago.

A motorcade of police officers and motorcycle riders in the San Antonio Patriot Guard escorted Peña's remains to the Pennington Funeral Home, on North Comanche Street near the town square. Flags were hung in nearly every storefront window on the square as the motorcade came up Guadalupe Street and passed the Hays County Courthouse.

A crowd of more than 500 people stretched along the route, Mayor Susan Narvaiz said.

Peña, 27, died Jan. 19 in the Arghandab district, just north of Kandahar. He was killed by a roadside bomb, along with another soldier. Five others were wounded.

Peña attended San Marcos Baptist Academy, where he graduated in 2000 before attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Narvaiz said residents wanted to show Peña's family that his sacrifice would not be forgotten.

"The focus is on supporting the family," Narvaiz said. "I think the San Marcos community always wants to embrace people and show how proud we are of Capt. Peña."

The crowd included a flag detail from the San Marcos High School Junior ROTC cadets and several local leaders, including Hays County Judge Liz Sumter and state Rep. Patrick Rose , D-Dripping Springs. Some took a break from work or class to show their support.

"I'm just here to honor those who serve our country, particularly this fellow citizen from San Marcos," said Aaron Scott , pastor of the Church of the Cross, whose office is on the square.

San Marcos Baptist Academy will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday at its Robinson Christian Center, 2801 RM 12.

Funeral services will be in San Antonio, Peña's mother's hometown, at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's the Evangelist Church.

My mom asked if I want to go to England to see my family. DUH, then she said I would have to pay my way.    I guess I need to go because we just found out that one of my aunts has cancer. I just hope they have internet access at the hotel where we will be staying.

JSM, my eldest son was a friend and classmate of Paul, and had only good things to say about him.  He was truly outstanding and had good leadership qualities even in his teens.

My SIL is not doing well and still in the hospital.  They have tried her on food twice in the last two weeks and taken her off right away.  She is back into surgery today as the new surgeon thinks the last surgeon left a hole in her lower intestine that is leaking.  Please pray for her as she is a wonderful person and has a 10 year old daughter that misses her dearly.

Thanks Tevye, she has ovarian. She really isn't "related" to me, she is my nephew's great aunt, but she treats me like we were blood. I love her so much.

Josef doesn't care about me anymore. All he wants to do is sit on the balcony and stare outside.  My family would adopt you and all monkeys.
