I don't follow Mary Hamer's thought that because she was stupid enough to send money has anything to do with Joran's sentence.
I mean we are talking two cold blooded murders here and she thinks a little thievery is out of the question?

Oh, boy!
1) Mary Hamer wants to use Jiminez as a reason to get a mistrial for Joran
2) If Joran allows Jiminez to file his sentencing appeal, wouldn't that negate any request for a mistrial by implying continued trust?
3) Why an apartment?
4) Why bring up the Anita money now after 1 1/2 years?
5) Why am I enjoying this so much?

I think this is like the second time I've laughed about this case. The first time after JVS pled guilty and then said he would appeal the sentence, and now with this chick, Mary Hamer.
She needs to be locked up and evaluated.
Between requesting the Peruvian president remand JVS into her custody for 10 years so he can write a thesis to requesting the judges vacate their sentence on JVS for Stephany Flores's murder, because his lawyer (and his mother allegedly) took her money, that she willingly gave for "whatever", she's off her rocker!
She still doesn't see JVS as anything but a victim- since he allegedly didn't see any of that $20,000.00 Hamer allegedly sent Anita for JVS's creture comforts.
She ought to count her blessings, be glad she's still alive and go into seclusion or take up some worthy cause. IF she has all that money to piss away, then perhaps her finances should be managed and allocated on an as needed basis.

I wonder if she stayed in the apt when she went to visit JVS in Castro Castro?
I wonder if JVS was able to sneak out of Castro Castro and have sexy times in the apartment? I imagine you can get a lot of millage out of $75,000.00.

Van Der Sloot's Lawyer Ripped Me Off, Says Joran’s ‘Guardian Angel’Van Der Sloot's Lawyer Ripped Me Off, Says Joran’s ‘Guardian Angel’
Posted on Jan 18, 2012 @ 07:00PM
By Debbie Emery - Radar Reporter
As Joran van der Sloot faces 28 years in prison for murder, the woman who has been paying his legal bills is fighting a battle of her own as she embarks in a bitter stand-off with the convicted killer's lawyer, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.
Mary Hamer, who has described herself as van der Sloot's "guardian angel," claims that his Pervuian attorney Jose Luis Jimenez has swindled $75,000 from her that he said was going towards the Dutchman's bail.
::snipping2::
Upon learning that it was impossible for van der Sloot to get bail, the Florida-based radiologist asked his attorney to return her hard-earned money. Not only does she want a refund, she also thinks that Jimenez's actions justify a mistrial.
"I consider it unprofessional conduct so I am asking the Peruvian legal system to vacate Joran van der Sloot's sentence of Friday, January 13," said Hamer, who claimed to RadarOnline.com that the lawyer had violated attorney-client privilege repeated times by telling her details of the case.
::snipping2::
It is not only Jimenez that has been ripping off the well-meaning 55-year-old, who revealed the convicted killer's mother also took money from her.
"In the second part of 2010, I sent Anita van der Sloot about $20,000 for Joran's care - for food, clothes, legal fees and other expenses. He said he'd never seen any of that money," said Mary.
PHOTOS: Celebrity Mugshots
"Where did that money go? I don't know."
::snipping2::
I'm sorry but, how many people do you suppose told her NOT to get involved, to keep her money?
Mary is her own worst enemy. She is delusional. She is a lonely women looking for self worth in all the wrong places. At some period in time ... most have been forced to stand back helplessly ... stand back in frustration while a loved one is being used by another who has only selfish motives ... a loved who refuses to listen those who really care.
Grace ... thanks for posting this article/video. Mary's every word cased me to shake my head in disbelief.

From page 3:
It looks as if Joran has been spending Mary's money playing on-line poker in the final days of his trial (1-9, 1-11, and 1-14) and LOSING to the tune of $1400.

Later in his letter, Joran asked Mary for more money.
"I need apart from the balance of $69,000 I need $1,000 for a new phone
so I will be able to communicate with you again.
"Please don't take any action until we are
able to speak again which if everything goes well will be within a couple of days
.
::snipping2::
"P.S. I love you but what you are doing to Mr. Jimenez is not fair. Altez stole over $80,000 of your and my money. Mr. Jimenez has everything documented."
::snipping2::
In an exclusive e-mail to RadarOnline.com, Jimenez confirmed that the letters were written by van der Sloot,
he went on to claim that he has returned the $75,000 to Hamer
(she denies she has received it at time of this posting), and said his client is now upset with him.
"[Joran] is very upset with me for returning the money,
I did it [Monday].
Mary Hamer asked me to return it to her after listening to Joran admit to his crime," the lawyer told RadarOnline.com.
"That upset him very much and he saw me as a traitor."

So is all this screaming about the money nothing more than a publicity stunt? Since they interviewed crazy Mary, it's probably a safe assumption that they are telling urine's version of events. There is a Whitelight Productions in Johnson City, TN. Makes me think of that Todd Black/Gil Cabot person for some reason.

It is interesting that according to page 3 he has $69,001.07 in his bank account. Lawyer states he returned Sugar Mary's money on Monday which was the 16th. Too bad the bank statement only goes to the 14th. Lots of ATM withdrawls (retiro por cajero)

I just noticed that the account is a US savings account. So the $2580 US cash converts to $6,794 Peruvian Sols.
Mary Mary Sugar Plum mentioned that the monthly legal fees were $1600. Not sure if that was US or Sols but Urine is chewing through the $7500 faster than termites can eat pinocchio's nose

BINGO!!
However ... I suspect that Mary Hamer may be a willing participant ... a willing participant attempting to regain her losses through Whitelight Productions.
$75,000? In the past couple of days I think there was a copy of an email from Mary Hamer posted on the forum ... an email released by Joran van der Sloots attorney where Mary authorizes Joran's fine to be paid with the $75,000 "bail" moneys she sent.

Peru to beef up Joran van der Sloot charges
Published on 17 September 2011 - 3:38pm
At the first public hearing, on 12 September 2011, Mr Van der Sloot was charged with murder and robbery. The Public Prosecutor called for a 30-year jail sentence and damages of 50,000 euros.
The lawyer for the victim’s family said the charges should not be “murder followed by robbery” but “robbery followed by murder”, which carries a life sentence. He also rejected the 50,000 euro compensation as insufficient.
The judge hearing the case has instructed the Public Prosecutor to reformulate the charges, which will delay the trial.

Joran van der Sloot sentenced to 28 years for murder of Peruvian woman
Published January 13, 2012
<snipped>
Joran van der Sloot has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2010 murder of a 21-year-old Peruvian woman he had met at a casino in Lima.
Van der Sloot was also ordered to pay $75,000 in reparations by a three-judge panel in Lima for the "cruel" and "ferocious" murder that took place exactly five years to the day after the disappearance of American teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba. He showed no emotion as the court clerk read the sentence, describing how he elbowed Flores in the face then beat and strangled her with his bloodied shirt

Judges sentence Holloway suspect Van der Sloot to 28 years in Peru woman's murder
Associated Press
Friday, January 13, 2012 9:3 PM
<snipped>
The Peruvian victim's father, Ricardo Flores, complained after the sentencing that Van der Sloot was living well in a Lima prison, where he has been segregated from the general population.
"A jail isn't a five-star hotel," Ricardo Flores told reporters.
"Since the first day, we've been complaining about the excessive privileges"
Van der Sloot allegedly enjoyed in jail.
Unconfirmed news reports, denied by penal authorities, say Van der Sloot has had a cellphone, television, a video gaming console and Internet access in his cell. A Peruvian TV station published a photo Friday it says was taken by Van der Sloot himself of his prison cell that shows a 42-inch LCD television, a Blu-ray player and an Internet modem.
Flores said that "everything they showed on the TV has been proven" but that he would not have documentation of it to present to the news media until Monday.
Van der Sloot's attorney, Jose Jimenez, said he is not familiar with his client's prison cell.
As in many developing nations, foreigners with money can buy superior treatment in Peru's prisons, including decent food, while the vast majority of inmates suffer overcrowding and constant peril from criminal gangs.

Van Der Sloot Confession Transcript Released
Aired June 14, 2010 - 20:00:00 ET
NANCY GRACE, HOST: Here is an e-mail exchange between you and Joran Van Der Sloot where he says, happy birthday, I hope you had a good day. This is May 29.
And remember how important family and friends are. By the way, can you send me some money through Western Union tomorrow? Remember that?
JOHN LUDWICK, FRIEND OF JORAN VAN DER SLOOT: Yes, I do.
GRACE: Did you send him money?
LUDWICK: No, I didn`t. He had told me -- that was the evening of May 29th and I guess the alleged event happened later -- a few hours later into the 30th.
But he told me he needed money to get back to Aruba
. So, I mean, before I had a chance to help him out, I couldn`t get ahold of him. And then the news said what it said.
http://archives.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1006/14/ng.01.html
Who or what forces were underwriting Joran van der Sloots lifestyle within the walls of Castro Castro prior to Mary Hamer's entrance on the scene? Ricardo Flores was concerned from the getgo. I wish he had followed through on Monday's press conference ... Monday's press conference that may have afforded an answer to my question. Nevertheless ... I trust that whatever the reason it did not happen ... it was valid. The roller coaster of emotions that Stephany's family is currently experiencing must be a literal h---.
Can it be assumed that all Dutch citizens who are detain on suspicion of a crime in a foreign country can expect immediate visits by delegates from the Dutch Embassy ... visits to assure they are being treated well ... visits to provide consultation?

Aired June 3, 2010 - 19:00:00 ET

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Vinda De Sousa is on the line. She is the Aruban attorney for Natalee Holloway`s dad, Dave. Vinda, we have just learned that a delegation from the Dutch embassy visited Joran minutes ago in a Chilean jail. ...
OK. What are your thoughts of the fact that the Dutch embassy visited him in jail in Chile?
DE SOUSA: Well, you know, that`s -- that`s not unusual. Whenever a Dutch citizen is jailed abroad, either the embassy or the consul general will visit the person detained or in custody, being a Dutch citizen, to offer assistance, it`s part of the Dutch policy.

Joran van der Sloot brutally murdered the daughter of an influential Peruvian citizen yet ... this monster was receiving perferential treatment within the prison system from the getgo. Why? Where was the pressure originating?

Judges sentence Holloway suspect Van der Sloot to 28 years in Peru woman's murder

Could the "immediate" involvement by the Dutch Consulate as an advocate for Joran van der Sloot be what Ricardo Flores is referencing in the above statement.

The Dutch Consulate is now involved in the case and has volunteered a defense attorney for van der Sloot, according to Carlos Neyra, a spokesman for the Peruvian Investigative Police.
The Dutch Consulate has told Peruvian authorities that it is not comfortable with the way van der Sloot has been presented to the media, Neyra said. The Peruvian Minister of the Interior is asking authorities not to talk about the case without his authorization.

What to do if you are arrested abroad
More than 2,500 Dutch nationals are in prison abroad, mostly for smuggling drugs. The embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will assist them, for instance by contacting a lawyer and providing information about criminal justice in the country concerned. ....
<snipped>
Legal assistance
If you have broken the law abroad, you will be subject to that country’s legal system. Having a Dutch passport makes no difference to this fact. You will be treated in the same way as anyone else who is arrested.
The embassy cannot ensure that you will be released or receive preferential treatment. But it can help you find:
• a (new) lawyer.
The embassy will not pay for the lawyer
. It may ask your relatives for money to pay for legal assistance;
• information about the country’s judicial system, such as how long you may be kept in custody awaiting trial, whether you can be released on bail, and how you can appeal;
• an interpreter;
• information about whether it is possible to serve your sentence in the Netherlands.
<snipped>
Complaints about detention
Do you have any complaints about the conditions or your treatment in prison? Every prison has a complaints procedure. First, report your complaint to the prison. If that doesn’t help, discuss your complaint with the embassy.
The embassy or consulate can only complain to the prison on your behalf if you are being treated worse than your fellow inmates
. If that is the case, the embassy will – after discussions with you – insist that you be treated humanely. If your human rights are being violated – for instance, if you are being tortured – the Netherlands will hold the country detaining you responsible.

FLASHBACK - SEPTEMBER, 2005
Who Can We Trust?
Loving Natalee
A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith
By Beth Holloway with Sunny Tillman
Page 182:
September 1 Helen calls to say the court is asking for DNA from the Kalpoes and Joran van der Sloot and that their attorneys are fighting this. She also says the suspects are pointing the finger at one another.
Page 183
: Helen is very positive. "It looks good that they will remain in custody." she says. Then about three hours after she tells me this encouraging news, a devastating call comes from an AP reporter.
"Paulus van der Sloot and his attorney are bragging to everyone that all three suspects are getting out day after tomorrow!
Then all the media start calling. I call Helen, then FBI agent Bill and the U.S. vice-consul. None of them have this information. So we tell the media it must be a rumor. But the word is out all over the island to the defense side that all three suspects will walk.
Four and a half hours after this announcement is made to international media by Joran's father and his defense team, the FBI calls to tell me it is indeed true. So the three suspects who were last seen with my daughter, and who offered multiple versions of what happened that night, will go free. And we are the last ones to find out.
Natalee's handwriting on her immigration card states that the duration of her stay here would be four nights. It has been ninety-five. And I have painstakingly counted every one of them.
When Helen calls, I stand in a corner of the hotel room, phone to my ear, tapping my head against the wall over and over. Tears fall hard. "I'm done, Helen. I'm done. No justice for Natalee in Aruba. I'm done."
Page 185:
The island authorities originally planned to release the three suspects at two o-clock in the morning on Saturday, September 3. The Strategic Communications Task Force undoubtedly helped them make a less conspicuous move and release them in the afternoon instead.
Curious to see the setup at the van der Sloot house for Joran's parade of victory, I drive by there, never in a million years expecting to see who is there.
It's the U.S. vice-consul
. At the van der Sloots' house. Why is she here? She spots me. Jumps in her car and follows me to a restaurant parking lot, waving, honking, calling on the cell phone. I don't want to talk to her. Who can we trust?

Can't Touch This!
Why did van der Sloot yawn?
Published on January 18, 2012 by Katherine Ramsland in Shadow Boxing
Joran van der Sloot, scheduled to plead guilty to murder earlier this month, wanted more time to "reflect" on the deal he would make. He seemed to think that the court should accommodate him, and even yawned widely to punctuate his arrogance. Certain offenders display a perplexing resilience. It's called narcissistic immunity, or "Teflon narcissism." They think they're special.
You might see this attitude in a risk-taking CEO, a celebrity athlete, even a musician, but you'll definitely find it in many extreme or repeat offenders. They rebound easily from setbacks, because they're confident of their invulnerability - even when evidence is clearly against them. That's because narcissistic immunity is entrenched in their personality; it's a survival mechanism that's devoted to blind self-protection. Van der Sloot said he wanted to give a "sincere confession," which he knew was a doorway to a reduced sentence. It was another ploy in a life of manipulation.
::snipping2::
Narcissistic immunity is akin to magical thinking, a distorted belief about how the world will - must -- support them. They believe they're "protected" due to their special status: something will always save them. They have a "destiny." They won't get caught, but if they do, then they won't be convicted. If they are, then they'll win an appeal. If they don't, then they'll escape. Their self-investment is so certain in their minds that they cannot conceive of paying the same price for their deeds as "ordinary people" do.
::snipping2::
The irony is that while they believe they're set apart from others, they desperately need others to affirm their superiority. Unlike the myth that features the self-loving Greek figure Narcissus, isolated mirror-gazing is not sufficient. They must hear from others how great they are. Their egos are quite fragile, so they respond badly to being challenged or humiliated. They harbor grudges and fiercely defend their perception of themselves.
