It's good that the tsunami was a gentle one (?) - however the earthquakes in Peru killed "at least 337 people and left another 1,350 hurt"

Sorry to hear that. I thought the Tsunami was from the quake in Hawaii. Sorry. I can't keep it straight these days. It's sad all those lives were lost in Peru.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man threw his seriously ill wife four stories to her death because he could no longer afford to pay for her medical care, prosecutors said in charging him with second-degree murder.
According to court documents filed Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court, Stanley Reimer walked his wife to the balcony of their apartment and kissed her before throwing her over.

Hi Everyone
When you get a chance please say hello to Gloria Denton..She is the Mother of April Pritzer who dissapeared 3 years ago. She had a horrible Investigation and Detective on the case early but I believe she now is on the right track. She has been on Dana's show,TES has helped in the search and I think you will admire her for her determination and will to bring her daughter home. She is a strong woman and a good person. I know we arent the most religeous of folks but we sure are fantastic researchers and will fight for justice like no others. It is nice to have a family member here of one of the missing!!
TY Muffy and Peaches for saying hello..

Copper Thefts Could Lead To Power Outages
Power Surges Could Cause House Fires
Reported By Marc Stewart
POSTED: 9:20 am CDT August 16, 2007
UPDATED: 11:04 am CDT August 16, 2007
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Copper thieves are hitting so many electric substations that it could be threatening to customers.
Video: Copper Thefts Could Create Customer Electric Problems
There's more of a demand not just for electricity but also for copper, and thieves are looking to make a quick cash while putting homes at risk.
The Nashville Electric Service tells Channel 4 that so many of their substations have been hit hard by copper thieves that customers could feel the heat.
"The copper is there for a reason. It's there to keep the electricity flowing properly," said Laurie Parker of NES.
There are two big potential problems. The first being random power outages because of system overload. The other concern is power surges.
"With the copper being gone, it can make the electricity coming into your home fluctuate, which could cause a surge in your house, damage your appliances. The worst-case scenario is it could start an electrical fire in your house,” said Parker.
There are more than 200 substations in the NES system. Whites Creek, White Bridge, Forest Hills, Wedgewood and Wharf Avenue all have been hit.
But NES officials suspect many others not on the list have been hit. Monitoring the problem takes time and money.
"At some point, if this becomes such a big expense for us replacing copper wiring, eventually that will have to trickle down to the customers," said Parker.
In fact, NES is still trying to come up with a price tag for the problem.
Twice, in just the last two weeks, NES had to shut down substations to make repairs, which meant customers had to do without power during the heat wave.

So naturally the electric company sends the guys to trim the trees off my power lines today so that I have to move all the dogs because the Scotties will prolly bite them, making noise with trimmers like that. :smt083Don't want the others to escape.
I think I am having a heat stroke! Going to lie down for a bit.

Anna....I am North of you....the temp on the front porch is 103....the grass is crunchy...but so
short i do not think it could burn....the bushes at the front of the house have been here since the 40's (they tell me...lol) and they are turning brown...no rain due for another week and that is just a guess. There are 80 foot pines near the house....I think they were planted originally as a windbreak....I am wondering how long they will last before they just lie down and die...!
I started a small sprinkler in between the bushes and move it every 45 min - 1 hour. In 6 hours, I will be finished for today.

Temperature in small town Alabama is 104 at this moment. Trees are dying around here and no one has any green grass anywhere. The watering isn't doing much good and my Japanese Maples are probably not going to make it.
I have never seen hedge wilted in my life...until now. That stuff is almost indestructible around these parts. My dogwood is already gone. Even the birds are begging at my bird bath each morning.

That's cruel, Klaas.
103 here now. I took a nap and am guzzling orange juice but that tree trimming just about finished me off for today.
And I know other places are hotter. In Memphis there are six dead from the heat.
Today is the anniversary of the death of Elvis and there are people there to commemorate even in that heat. I liked the King and all but not that much.
There are lots of places hotter than it is here today but there are none drier as at this elevation, we have missed what little rain there has been. It goes around us for some reason.
Robots had a signature about controlling the rain. Maybe it's his fault.
