This may be a terrible thing to say but I personally would like to see the death penalty in all cases of sexual abuse. Not just the ones who are murdered.

We all know they can't be rehabbed. It is always a matter of time before they reoffend. So this would save a few victims. Plus not allow the type of thing like BT posted last night of the jerk who murdered his own baby.

Or maybe if judges are going to be so lenient they could have the jerks move in with them. JMHO

I agree with your dad Nomad..
And congrats to you on your grandbaby.
I also agree when I was growing up. things like this didnt happen too often. WTH is the world coming to anymore. These monsters need stopped once and for all and I am so sick of hearing jails here are overcrowded..  tough shit. I have plenty of conversations with officers.
Makes me ill.

Part of the problem is lenient judges (who should be taken off the bench, imo) and the lack of death penalties in so many of the states.

Some people "just need killin" IMHO.
I am in favor of the death penalty in cases like this.

Me too Art.. and its great to see you honey.. I been keeping you in my prayers and I hope you are feeling better.

Its great to see you too, ANgie.  I feel okay..just nervous about the second surgery next Friday. Scared is more like it!
THank you for your prayers..prayer DOES help!

I will keep you in my prayers, dear Artcolley!

The older I get, the more I agree with what he thought sometimes. Smile

Oh, little Sophia is beautiful. So little and precious. They grow up too fast.
Seems like now we need to worry about the monsters from the moment they are born into this world.  So much evil. The pit sounds real good - you can't rehabilitate these people. They prove it time and time again. Geeesh.

Nomad, so glad to see you here. Enjoy that precious baby, for she will be grown up in the blink of an eye.

Mishy ..... thanks. It is good to be here. Oh, yes, the blink of an eye describes it perfectly.  It is good to see you, too!

Sam .... yes, it is very scary. I think the death penalty is very much called for in these cases.

Rob ..... That picture is just heart wrenching. A part of her is gone forever.  God help and bless her.  This is so sad.  Your other post was very poignant.  Thank you for it.  You are a good man.

Great ideas Sam! If the perps moving in with the judges were the alternative, then just maybe they'd get off their butt's and make some intelligent decisions regarding these offenders, these monsters, these predators.

Mishy, Thank you!

You know, the way I see it, when one of these predators injures mentally OR physically, or murders one of our children, it is a crime against society as this is our future.

I am not so certain that these incidents are a relatively new phenomenom. For one thing, I don't think there's much new under the sun (as in Ecclesiastes).

For another, I've read theories from several sources that suggest that the terrible stories passed down throughout history, variously attributed to werewolves, vampires, other boogeymen born by superstition, and still others borne by prejudice (gypsies, and yes, the Jews), etc. - more likely were these same kinds of predators at work. And the predators KNEW who or what would be blamed - often making SURE of it.

Just something to think about.

Thanks for your clarity on this, as always, MsMarple...People always wonder if this kind of thing is happening more, or are we just hearing about it more, what with the advent of the WWW and newsmagazine shows focusing on these kinds of things specifically.

However, I do think that while murdering sickos have been around since the beginning of time, this world is a much harsher place than it was even 30 years ago. Kids are having sex at earlier ages, the drugs are heavier, porn is everywhere...do you see where I'm going with this?

I'm not seeing any updates to Kaitlin's story at The Advocate. The TV station says full coverage at 10:00 pm (LA time, I'm sure). It is Channel 2, ABC affiliate.

What I am sure is happening is that someone - a family member, probably - is having to have to make (or not) an identification. Plus crime scene processing, regardless of ID.

Oh, most definitely! And we have let them taint us. It's hard to be like the Amish, who are so insulated in their worlds and so forgiving.

Like Rob says, making a difference in other's lives and more people reaching out and helping others in need can hopefully provide some salve for the wounds that infect the World we live in...

If Jet Duncan had been kept off the street after his first offense Shasta Goene's family might still be alive.

If John Couey had been kept off the street after his first offense, Jessica Lunsford might still be alive.

If Joseph Smith had been kept off the street, Carlie Brucie might still be alive.

Oh darn I hope I got those names right. There are so many more. I just can't think of them now.

Oh yes, I know exactly where you're going. All you said, plus so much stress and frustration - and even boredom.

But I'm not so sure that any of these things turn an otherwise "normal person" into a sexual predataor. I really do think that some percentage of the population (fortunately a relatively small percentage) are just wired horribly differently.

No, certainly not...

Do you think these people choose to be that warped? Or are they like this due to their mental illness, their torment? Something in them thinks these kinds of things are OK?

So well said Mrs. Artcolley.

Mishy I so agree with you. Yes it has been going on forever but Msmarple alot of the time the citizens took care of the problem because there were not enough courts. No I am not advocating vigilante justice.

The other problem we have is our population is so much greater. In years past National Geographic with the pictures of The African bare breasted native women or a few Islands also would be the closest thing to porn our young boys were exposed to.

Now they can see everything.Porn does not help our society as well as the drug problem . JMHO

Hummm. I don't know. I can't recall hearing or reading anything on this specifically. Certainly inbreeding has long been thought to cause all kinds of mental and physical problems. Just don't know if abnormal sexual urges are among those cited. An interesting internet research topic.

(I have recently read that cousins marrying is no long illegal in some states; apparently that relationship is not thought to be close enough to cause problems. I don't agree with that ... but I'm not qualified to say.)

ANtoher thing is the lack of discipline.

What we are seeing in some younger people (that aren't so young anymore) is a product of the society being permissive with our young to the point where they have lost to think critically. THey take no responsibility for their actions at all.
THis trend is becoming pervasive in our society on all levels.
In the mentally deranged, such as a predator..they've been left to run amock. Even the judges won't discipline them.

Used to be when "Johhny" was caught with Porn, a trip out to the woodshed was all it took to straighten him out in most cases.

Heck, now they are trying to pass a law that spanking your child is a jailable offense!

A young child is much like a puppy in that without proper training, discipline and respect they grow into wild, uncontrollable, biting animals that eventually have to be destroyed for the good of the society.

Mind you, I am NOT in favor of beating a child OR an animal. But a stern verbal correction can also do the trick.
I actually had a friend bring her brat (several years ago) to Thanksgiving dinner at my home where this kid (4 years old) proceeded to climb onto the table with all the food and jump up and down. My hubby sternly told him NO! Get DOWN NOW!

The Mother turned to him and said," We don't tell Mikey NO. IT will hurt his self-esteem".
Needless to say, they were never invited again.

This darling went on to set their house on fire one day which was the most serious of his offences I knew of til we lost touch a few years later.
He must be in his twenties now and I often wonder what sort of Monster he turned into.
