Why will the video not play? I am a Charter customer and I can't even get to the log in page.

You own the broadcast rights, and you feed us dribs and drabs of the Olympics. I am beyond disgusted. You have at least 5 channels to broadcast on, and right now, there's nothing on any of them. Do the Olympics close for the cocktail/dinner hour?

Just so you know, I plan on raising a ruckus about this the net over! I'm old, I have cancer and I'm cranky! Get your ducks in a row and, for once, do a COMPLETE job of covering the Olympics.

I woke up late, had to do my hair, put on make up, get Joe to daycare then drive in foggy wet to get to the rink. I got there, put on my dress, couldn't find my coach the girl that had the ribbon I was borrowing wasn't there yet, but she showed up and let me use hers just in time. I was so nervous I took a xanax and a half. My coach asked to see my hands (she laughs because I shake) she said you aren't shaking and I told her I took a nerve pill. She said in all seriousness well you know you will have to take a drug test after this competition. Then I started shaking.  ::MonkeyDevil:: I was shocked and suprised that my brother and his girlfriend showed up with my Mom. I knew my mom was coming, but not those two. That meant a lot to me. I actually did VERY well today, better than I had expected being sick and just learning this routine in about two weeks. So that's all I can ask. Then one of the judges told me that when I finished she told one of the others how much I have improved since last Christmas program. That made me feel so great.

Oh well, enough about me....

Good letter Tevye to NBC. I am watching some kind of skiing on Universal Sports but I don't think it is Olympic coverage. If NBC was smart they would show live Olympics on MSNBC and that channel will finally get ratings.  ::MonkeyWink:: One good thing about them not showing them in real time, we will get to watch figure skating in the evenings ( I hope ), because they are skating during the day.

Northern thanks for the updates. Those protestors are a bunch of idiots that have nothing better to do than protest whatever they decide to protest. Too bad this didn't happen in Texas, they break in to my shop, they get a bullet to the butt!  ::MonkeyMad::

I really hope Joannie Rochette wins a medal this year for Canada. She is beautiful and I love the way she skates. She is tall and elegant on the ice.  ::MonkeySkate::

my daughter's best friend is with her parents at the Olympics right now and they have tickets to the pairs final and the skate of the winners??? as well as other events.  She is texting my daughter all the time.  I will see if she can take some pictures with her cell and send them.

Womans Short track 500m skating is on as well.  USA won her heat.

WOW, my friend I skate with won a trip and is there now going to the pairs and mens practice. Then I saw a lady that I used to skate with and her daughter was skating in the competition today. They are leaving tomorrow and will be there for the duration. Her husband is Canadian and they have been saving all their money for this trip. I wish I was there.

Dang, I missed a whole hour of the coverage cos a dear, hot-since-we-were-teens-could-be-the-father-of-our-son-but-no-way-would-be friend (dh's best friend for life) who called from the west coast to check on me. He wants a pic of me in my red boots at the jail...which I will do this week! He's so cool, when I told him about a lady I know who has another kind of cancer and has to do 16 chemos like mine, and that makes me feel like my cancer is just a pimple on my butt, he said "Exactly! There's always someone who has it worse than you". I like hearing that from other people, as I've realized it all along. Don't treat me like a victim, treat me like a person who has a plan, a roadmap, and this stupid cancer is just another bump in the road.

so, it was great to talk to him, but I hope I didn't miss all the moguls, I love those things! I like that some sports are getting closer to X-games like stuff (snowboarding!!!!).

Nope.  In Olympic hockey if there is a tie for the medal games they look at points to decide which team goes through.  Every goal is needed.

I officially dislike Joe Biden and his entourage.

One of the Canadian reporters saw him walking in Whistler and stopped to chat with him.  First the woman in the white coat tells our reporter that he can NOT talk to Joe to call to make an appointment.

The reporter tells her he does not want to talk politics want to talk Olympics.  Joe turns and chats with reporter and tells him he is heading to watch the USA woman play hockey as they are going to win gold.  Reporter says to him that "we can reconvene here once Canada wins gold" and puts his hand out to shake Joes hand (a Canadian thing to do as Hockey is our politics).  Woman in white trench coat slaps reporters hand down, gets between reporter and Joe then turns around, gives death glare,  starts towards reporter, thinks better of it and walks away with Joe.  WTF???

Brandi, that is adorable. You don't know what it means to me right now. I am having a horrible pity party. I got beat by a woman that couldn't even hold a catch foot spiral for at least two feet. I can hold mine blue line to blue line. I asked my coach what I did wrong, she said nothing we were tied except for one judge that gave the lady two extra points and this lady skates at the rink that judge teaches. That is the only excuse I could get. Plus my coach said they probably felt sorry for her because she was elderly.

I wanted so bad to skate against someone but not to lose this way. oh well it is going to make me work harder and harder. Get my jumps, I was so nervous I left out a toe loop, so that is probably what did me in, plus I hadn't practiced it much I was more worried about the ribbon routine. So I am going to start taking half days on Tuesdays and skating for the next competition with my new music and new program. Work on jumps and kick some azz!!!!!! Yes that is a catch foot and my leg doesn't get that high, but my foot does get lower shoulder blade high.

Ice still an issue on Olympic oval ice due to Zamboni .  Dutch officials are complaining to IOC that ice condition now is worse than for previous skaters and their skater (who is going next) is under a disadvantage.

Thanks Brandi, I need to wipe off my mascara or buy waterproof. I cried all the way home. More out of being mad at myself than the lady beating me. I am glad she won, it probably made her day. She was very gracious and nice. I try not to be a hater, so I am going on a diet, going to take a ballet/yoga class and get my jumps. The broken toe didn't help earlier in the year being off the ice for 2 months, plus not having ice during the winter due to hockey. So I am going to use vacation time up during these next few months to get ready for districts in May. Plus one of my other coaches is looking into finding me skates that I don't have to tie and retie. My skates are a quarter size too big and I have to tie them so tight I cant feel my feet or see if the manufacturer can get me inserts to make them smaller.  ::MonkeySkate:: I am now on a MISSION!!!

I will have her do it soon because I am going for it, old lady or not. It is such long music, I can only skate with what my coaches cut but I will make sure they keep that part in if all possible. Luge singles 4th run begins in 15 mins.  Then in 1.5 hours Hockey - Finland vs Russian and Figure skating short program.  Then 1/2 hour after that the mens moguls finals. 

That is Evgeni Pleshenko, no we aren't getting to watch any practice, only what NBC is showing. I am about to chuck out the 30 bucks for IceNetworks and watch it on the computer. NBC is awful.

I got an email back from CTV and they now have world feeds of the events on their main page that everyone should be able to view.

Half way down the page is a section called
"Results spotlight". If the box is in red and says "live", click on it and a live feed will come up.  It takes a while to load but you should be able to see it in the US.

I think Johnny Weir(d) enjoys flaunting the stereotype of the male figure skater, which, as JSM says, is wrecking it for the guys. I mean, if you want to be gay and skate, fine, (and I don't even know if he is, but he sure wants us to think he is!) but make it about the skating, not the gender preferences.

Fleming slightly hurt in Biden motorcade accident

(AP) – 20 minutes ago

WASHINGTON — A spokesman for Vice President Joe Biden says figure skating great Peggy Fleming and former bobsled champion Vonetta Flowers sustained "minor injuries" in a traffic accident while riding in Biden's motorcade at the Vancouver Olympics.

Spokesman Jay Carney says the motorcade was carrying members of the U.S. delegation to an event Sunday when the accident occurred.

Carney adds that Fleming and Flowers were taken to a hospital as a precaution and were released. Biden was not involved in the accident.

Fleming won the gold medal at the 1968 Olympics. Flowers won gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.

VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Johnny Weir was forced to abandon his vow to never again live in the confines of a "communal athletes village" after the "crazy fur people" issued death threats against the American fashionista.

The figure skater felt the full wrath of animal rights activists PETA after he wore a fur-trimmed outfit at last month's U.S. Nationals.

The self-styled diva makes no secret of liking his own space and creature comforts but for the second Winter Games in succession, he has been forced to "rough it" -- albeit in a room lit with scented candles and decorated with pink bath mats.

"All these crazy fur people definitely changed my mind. Security wise, staying in a hotel would be very difficult," Weir told reporters after turning up for an 0800 news conference sporting a striking red and white silk scarf looped around his neck and with his nails manicured.

"There have been threats against me. Threats of harming me personally and I didn't want to get hurt. So I decided to stay in the village and my team has made it as comfortable as possible.

"I don't want any outside influences to hurt my chances here. Even though I'm not always comfortable rooming with somebody or being in a communal village sort of situation, it's what I've got to deal with."

Weir, who plans to join the fashion world once he has hung up his "leather skates made of cow" for good, felt he was unfairly targeted.

"There was a lot of attention put on a tiny piece of fur," said the 25-year-old, the 2008 world bronze medalist. "While I do understand anti-fur activists views about fur and the fur industry, they aren't part of my life.

"One thing that is horrible is when somebody pushes a belief on you like a religion. I was definitely threatened and felt very threatened. People are nuts.

"I'm an easy person to pick on because I'm very open I like fur and I like things that come from dead animals. It's easy put your cause against an athlete going to the Olympic Games, it's good free publicity for these activists.

"I'm not a huge politician that gets these threats all the time. I mean I'm a figure skater. It's not normal to receive a threat that really threatens your life. It's a very scary thing."

However, while the uproar forced him to ditch the costume and pick a more tame outfit for the Vancouver Olympics, Weir has no plans to change his taste in wearing fur again.

"If I still want to compete, if I felt the costume needed fur, I would wear fur. If all this happens again I get a bodyguard," he added with a smile.

Monkeys, I hope you are having a better day than I am. Last night while I was chatting here in this thread, my monitor screen just went all wobbly. Looks like it is under water! VERY hard to look at for more than 15 seconds or so. We worked on fixing it last night, tried a different monitor, still does it. Hubby thinks a video card he will buy today and install tonight will fix it. (It has integrated video now, not a card.) He thinks that will bypass the problem. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

back again..I swear I am worried about myself...I think that I am a food hoarder!  ::piggy:: I have so much food here in this house and it is just hubs and I...all 3 refrigerator freezers are full of frozen foods, pantry is full and I still go to the grocery store and buy stuff! good morning all! today is going to be a cooking day for me...but I am going to be running back and forth from the cooking and chopping to posting here lol! I got the recipe from another monkey for the Oriental Chicken Salad from Applebees and I am going to make that today without the chicken though...I love the dressing on that salad and then make a casserole and hot rolls...I have a recipe for a chocolate cake with a chocolate peanut butter frosting that I may attempt too...will see how far I get lol!

You are right, unless the child is given some breakfast at school. I don't know how that works, when I was in school in the later years, there was a cafeteria, but I don't recall breakfast. Maybe some schools do that now, I don't know. Poor little sidekick, he wants to stay with you and not go to school. If you are on her chit list, which I hope you are not, you only told her the truth. You know, I'm going to go on a rant. This case should have had a resolution awhile ago. The only reason it hasn't is because you have an insane family doing everything in their power to screw things up. You have a defense team that is obviously not doing the right thing for their client. I have seen this crap, but not to this extent in a couple cases I followed before. I'm sick of all of it, our judicial system wasn't set up for this nonsense. Get this trial over with already, stop all the _ucking games, and get justice for Caylee. Like so many other cases, the victim gets lost in all this game playing, it is enough to make you vomit.

Sigh....I can look at pictures all day that were just now released in Caylee's case, but if there is no explanation to some of the pics, it does no good. I sure hope someone has some explanations to some of the pics, I don't know what I'm all looking at  ::MonkeyConfused::

You can get breakfast at school in the mornings.School started a couple hours late this morning,due to icy conditions in some areas.So kids will go straight on to lunch later.I just get bent about kids.I can't help it.
That couple of minutes for toast or a pop tart is  time you never get back.It is an opportunity to chat a minute and let  them know they are special.   ::MonkeyHeart::
