Trimm, your pups are adorable. I grew up with two doxies. The first one Gretchen was a red standard, and Heidi was a black miniture. They are very smart animals, especially Heidi. Taco looks so cute and innocent, Digger just cracks me up, you can just see on his face that he is looking to get into trouble. Bama what a cutie 

I love me some doxies.  They are my favorite.I had one named Al,for about 6 1/2 yrs.He died from a snake bite.    If it hadn't been for him the snake would have got me.

  I'm sorry Trimm. I'm glad Al saved you though.

You can't talk about him in front of my granddaughter very much.She still cries about it.He was around when she learned to walk and talk.

I'm sorry to hear about your doxie "Al", Trimm.  My brother has a black and brown named "Rusty".  He is way cute, but likes varmintin'.  He went after a dillo the other night and after my brother dispatched the dillo, he had to go pull Rusty out of the dillo hole.  He said he was three quarters of the way in the hole, nose first. 

  Muffy that's funny, my nephew has a doxie, but he wouldn't be able to waddle his way into a dillo hole.

Rusty is young and pretty active.  When my brother and sister in-law go out on their boat, they take Rusty too.  He has life jacket.  They put it on him and they all swim.  I think my bro is going to enter Rusty in the Buda, TX wiener dog races next year.  He had just been neutered this past race date, so he couldn't do it

Russian Hackers Stole U.S. IDs for Attacks

WASHINGTON —  Russian hackers hijacked American identities and U.S. software tools and used them in an attack on Georgian government Web sites during the war between Russia and Georgia last year, according to new research to be released Monday by a nonprofit U.S. group.

More on WH Statement on e-mails
The e-mail statement (see post below) was scrubbed for at least a full day by senior White House officials. White House internet experts reviewed procedures for an unspecified period of time and a White House official said no statement would have been released if the White House had determined the unsolicited e-mails simply arrived via easily traceable forwarding third-party referrals outside the White House website. The statement acknowledges e-mail addresses landed on the White House distribution list without the recipient's permission and that steps - as yet undefined - will be taken to remedy this problem. 

Fox on Friday filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the list of e-mail recipients who received Thursday's health care talking points memo from senior adviser David Axelrod.  That request is pending.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs approved the statement for release about 7:30 p.m. EDT.  Work began on the statement no later than mid-day Saturday.

White House officials say they don't want the e-mail controversy to deepen. "How does that help us," one official asked. "We don't want to send e-mails to people who don't want them. We want to send e-mails to people who do want them and there are lots of them. But there is no benefit to us at all in sending e-mails that people don't want."

In addition to the statement, Fox asked Nick Shapiro, White House Spokesman for New Media, these questions:
1. Does the WH spam any communication for any purpose. If not, does it follow a specific policy - either internal or external (meaning statute) - that guides adherence to the no spam policy?

Shapiro: Answered in the quote: We only email addresses received through whitehouse.gov. Our operating guidance is the privacy policy published on the website.

 

2. How does the WH enforce or monitor adherence to its no spam policy?

Shapiro: As the quote said, "We are implementing measures to make subscribing to emails clearer, including preventing advocacy organizations from signing people up to our lists without their permission when they deliver petition signatures and other messages on individual's behalf."

 

3. Does the White House buy any e-mail lists for any communication purposes?

Shapiro: Again, answered in the quote. No.

4. Does the White House have any contractual or informal relationship with any Internet Service Provide to distribute White House communications via pop-up or similar types of web ads in which the WH communication is itself the pop-up content?

Shapiro: Absolutely Not
4. Does or will the WH going forward actively discourage outside groups from signing people up for WH communication without their permission?

Shapiro: Answered in the quote

5. Will the WH disable its 3rd-party e-mail device so that, in the future, 3rd parties will not be allowed to sign up others for WH communication without their permission?

Shapiro: Answered in the quote

6. Under what provision of law is or internal WH policy is the WH prohibited from reviewing private e-mails already on the WH list from being forensically checked to determine how it became a part of the WH e-mail list in the first place?

Shapiro: We are not prevented from reviewing our own systems - just providing that to outside groups per our White House privacy policy, published online at whitehouse.gov on January 20, 2009.

Thanks for all the well wishes.    Here's a picture of my little granddaughter!    Her name is Anna Victoria.   She weighed 7lbs 12 oz, and is 20 1/4 inches long!

I was in the delivery room when she was born.   What a wonderful experience!     

What a beautiful baby!  I love that little rosebud mouth and the chubby little cheeks!!  Congratulations Grandma!!!

14 Churches Slated For Closure

DANIA BEACH, Fla. -- South Florida church members mourned after the Archdiocese of Miami said it's closing 14 congregations.

Rev. Thomas Pohto told his Dania Beach congregation that he was numb after hearing that his church was among the ones closing. The congregations are slated to merge with existing parishes by Oct. 1.

Archbishop John Favalora said in a statement that he knew the announcement is a disappointment to parishioners.

"It also is a very difficult decision for me," Favalora said.

The archdiocese also closed its youth ministry office and seven schools, which will reopen as charter schools. Subsidies have been cut to pregnancy care centers.

Some members have signed petitions and are planning a protest. Others are gathering for a prayer vigil this weekend.

The town I grew up in had four Catholic Churches. They are all gone except one, actually the one open was rebuilt, there is only one priest. There were a shortage of priests, that was the reason given. One of the churches was very old and beautiful, it was bulldozed down for a Walgreens, one of the churches is being used for somekind of activites for disabled children. The church and school I went to, the school is apt for the elderly, and the church is now a health club  My mother's funeral was one of the last before the church was sold and turned into a health club.  It all makes me ill.

Trimm, it is happening in the Northeast as well. Luckily we aren't having that problem here, we are building more churches. I think a lot of it has to do with the economy and where these parishes that are being closed are located. It is really sad.

"Mjollnir".He wanted that on his headstone.     I am so confused.I don't get into all that stuff.I wonder if he was into some kind of online gaming?
I think he had written part of his letter in what ever language they used.
Would that be some kind of Greek or Scandinavian?

Good morning JSM and all others---So, an Afgan man can starve his wife.  Add to that beat, mutilate and enslave.  Those are the people we are fighting for.  IMO 5,000 of them are not worth one of our brave service men and women.  I know we have to stay there and I know we can't just stop what was started.  I know that the Taliban harbored the terrorists and Osama.  Still, this culture, IMO, is not worth our sacrifice and they will never change.

My granddaughter has arrived!   She was born at 7:45 this morning.    She is beautiful.  Baby and Mom are doing well.    Hubby and I haven't slept since yesterday so I'm off to catch a few winks.   I'll try to download a pic of the little one later after I get a little rest.
