Joran denies paternity ex-lawyer client

 LIMA - It is not true that Joran van der Sloot has a son. That said his former lawyer Máximo Altez against the Peruvian newspaper El Comercio in response to allegations of a Peruvian TV station.

According to Máximo Altez is the mother of the boy, Leydi Figueroa, prepared a DNA test done to show that Van der Sloot is not the father of her child. The woman was Van der Sloot does know something and sometimes have taken him to jail. A service where her Altez paid.

Frecuencia Latina television station reported it earlier Saturday that Joran has a son and his mother a few days to come to Lima to pick up the child and to the Netherlands to take. That information came from the Flores family lawyer, Edward Alvarez. Van der Sloot himself, the existence of the child during the legal research have not confirmed or denied.

Joran van der Sloot, who is in a Peruvian prison charged with murder, has fathered a child by a 22-year-old Peruvian woman, says a local television station.

The baby boy, called Matías, is said to have been born on 30 March.

Mr Van der Sloot, a Dutch national, was jailed in early June of 2010 suspected of murdering a 21-year-old Peruvian woman, Stephany Flores.

The television station, Frecuencia Latina, quoted Edward Álvarez, a lawyer who represents Ms Flores’ family.

The baby’s mother, who has been named as Leydi Figueroa, is said to be living near the maximum security prison in Lima where Mr Van der Sloot is awaiting trial.

It’s thought the two met a few days after he was imprisoned on 11 June 2010.

She has visited him in prison on several occasions, even though he is not authorized to receive her there, according to Mr Álvarez.

Just one of the questions with conflicting claims and answers continuing to swirl out of Lima, Peru and echo on websites worldwide.

Various lawyers make differing claims. The Peruvian prison ministry continues to say "no way". In a rare turn, van der Sloot is refusing to talk about it.

Edward Alvarez Yrala, a lawyer representing the family of murdered student Stephany Flores went on Peruvian television claiming to have identified the alleged mother.

El Commercio, the Lima newspaper in the forefront of local coverage, says it can not confirm the story done on Frequencia Latina in which Alvarez Yrala makes his claims.  Even the first name of the alleged mother changes from source to source.

Van der Sloot's former defense lawyer, Max Altez, claims Carol  Figueroa Uceda ran errands for him inside the Castro Castro prison but denied she had van der Sloot's baby.  According to Altez, Figueroa Uceda is willing to have a paternity test done.

And although it's usually risky to believe anything Joran van der Sloot says, the Dutchman has apparently dismissed questions about the alleged paternity saying its a private matter.

Wow. Who knew there were still more subplots brewing in the already strange van der Sloot saga?

I think Joran is possibly cooperating in Peru knowing he will likely get a longer sentence, which he thinks will keep him out of reach to the U. S. authorities.  Life is the longest sentence he could be given for Stephany's robbery and murder in Peru, but a death sentence is possible if/when he's ever tried in the U. S. for Natalee's murder. 

He's probably been reading the Enquirer.

It's all about Joran, for Joran and he seems to have things all worked out for himself to be very comfortable in a prison that most would expect a monster like himself to have been shanked or beaten to death by now.

 

If the Flores family's request for his extraordinary privileges to be stopped should actually be acted on, and/or if Joran is convicted and sentenced and then actually transferred from the "safe" environment he's in right now, to general population; then it might seem beneficial for him to "make a deal" in Natalee's case.  I just don't see that happening now when he seems to be in control of how he lives in Castro Castro.

I'm for all that!!! But, I am skeptical the US could bring Murder 1 charges against Joran here when they extradite him for just wire fraud. But hey, I'm no lawyer!

Kidding aside Wreck, I agree with you about feelin skeptical the US could bring  Murder 1 charges against Joran.  At this point, any amount of jail time and inconvenience that can be meted out to Joran is good imo.  I'm not sure we'll ever see him here in the US for even the wire fraud, but maybe just maybe if it gets that far, maybe some other hands can be played.  I don't know. 

I agree Muffy.  Joran is living like a fat cat in a Peruvian jail.  The people behind Joran are going to make sure he never gets extradited to the USA.  He will serve his time and sneak out of Peru or he will be transferred back to the Netherlands to serve his time.  If he is transferred to the Netherlands he will never be touched to face charges in the USA. This is why I prefer that someone do the world a good deed and kill this soulless man.

The people protecting Joran cannot take on the world.  I truly believe someone will kill him.

Joran van der Sloot’s former lawyer has denied allegations that his ex-client fathered a child by a Peruvian woman.

The woman, Leydi Figueroa, is willing to take a DNA test to prove that Mr Van der Sloot is not her baby’s father, Máximo Altez told Peruvian daily El Comercio.

Mr Altez said he paid the woman on several occasions to deliver things to Mr Van der Sloot in prison.

On Saturday, television station Frecuencia Latina said Mr Van der Sloot had fathered a son by Ms Figueroa, adding that his mother is due to travel to Lima to take the baby to Holland.

The broadcaster based its report on statements made by Edward Álvarez, the lawyer for the family of Stephany Flores, the 21-year-old Peruvian woman Mr Van der Sloot is accused of murdering.

Joran knows good and well it's not a "private matter" when he's in jail charged with murder and did not have the approval for conjugal visits.  He just wants to stay in the news, if he doesn't confirm or deny (not that anyone would have any reason to believe anything that comes out of his mouth) it will stay in the media that much longer.  Just one more slap in the face to the families of his victims, tormenting them with his ability to defy the law even when he's incarcerated! 

 

The mother of the child was at the first hearing (that was postponed since Joran didn't have a lawyer) why would she have attended that hearing if she's not seriously involved with him?  Unless maybe she was paid to attend to pass along first hand knowledge of what took place?  I thought I'd read that the hearing would be closed to the public.

I also don't understand why Anita would take the baby to Holland, or why for that matter the mother would allow her to do that...  Surely DNA tests can be done in Peru.

Peruvian Young denies being the girlfriend of Joran Van der Sloot

Uceda Figueroa Lady, the alleged girlfriend of Joran Van der Sloot Dutch, denied having any relationship with him and even said he did not know it.

As indicated in the program "Sunday", he once went to the Castro Castro prison, where Van der Sloot in custody for the murder of the young Stephany Flores to visit a relative, but at no time met the Dutch.

Also complained that some media are "harassing" his life and his minor son just three months old, and have even been physically assaulted them both in an effort to get pictures.

In the writing business for five years, local author Traci Hohenstein released her newest novel last month.

"Burn Out" is a suspense thriller inspired by how the Natalee Holloway case unfolded. The Alabama teen disappeared in Aruba almost six years ago and her mother’s search for answers has captured headlines ever since.

“As a mother of three children, that story struck a chord with me,” she said in an earlier interview. “I couldn’t fathom losing a child let alone not ever knowing what happened to them.”

Hohenstein said "Burn Out" is about a mother whose daughter vanishes when she is 3 years old. From the search to find her child, the woman creates an agency to help find missing persons. One of her first cases is a search for a firefighter who goes missing during a warehouse fire.
