USA. Belbin and Augusto

Moldavian folk dance...love her red skates, he's got that whole strings as socks thing going on, I disapprove. Like her skirt, love the petticoat. His outfit is a little busy for me. did they pick this country, or were they assigned it?  Fashion gets an 8. (But the other US team was better, this one didn't connect with the audience)

OK, I'm a bit slow, but is there a theme required here?  All of them have to skate to folk tunes?
Yes, for this part. Tomorrow they get to do freestyle, right, JSM?

The fix is in, the Ruskies are in first place. Hell, JSM, you and I could put on a better program...I'd just stand in the middle and spin, and you could do all the hard work, and we'd be in first place too! I get to design our costumes, tho!
Tevye, I don't think the fix is in, they were in first from compulsory so that is why they are in first right now. They won't be in first after the next skaters skate.

I would skate with you and you could design my dress.

I would love to see it, too!  JSM, I know you skate, and from what I've read, very well, too.  I will be your gofer, I will polish your skates, bring you water, you just name it.

You can polish my skates if you want, but bring me diet cokes and xanax before I skate.  Monkey Devil! Then you have a job!

(edited, since I got in the middle of your quote)
OK, but since Casey's in jail, who's my contact for the Xanax?
My purse.

Well, then, piece of cake.  I can do, JSM

They pick the music, there was something about a bird at the beginning with all that standing around at the first. He is American, she is Canadian (bought her American citizenship from some Michigan congressman or one of those states before the last Olympics). So I don't know where the Moravian or Moldavian or whatever Eastern European influence came from.

Yes this year is Folk/Country music. They change it every year, but it has to be within the musical theme that is picked.

JSM, I've always been curious - is it harder to skate after several others have been out and scuffed up the ice?
I like to skate on scuffed up ice instead of fresh ice.

So it makes it easier?  What about hitting little dips where others have dug in their skates?  Or is it too hard for that to happen?

You skid more on fresh ice. Now for big jumpers like pairs and singles that are doing big jumps, they leave big divots in the ice and you wouldn't want to skate over those. Ice dancers don't really pick holes in the ice as much as big jumpers.

Yep Tevye Free dance is tomorrow. I have a meeting at work and will tell the doctors I have to leave before skating starts. Don't know how that will go over, but as late as skating has been coming on I will be home before they skate.

Pet dog saves life of toddler in freezing weather

by Lianne on February 22, 2010
We’re so used to stories in the media of how dogs have attacked children that it makes a refreshing change to see a story of how a dog saved the life of a toddler actually getting some media coverage. Three-year-old girl, Victoria Bensch, wandered away from her home in Arizona last week and spent 14 hours in the freezing cold, over night, in temperatures that reached 30 below zero, before she was rescued.

Experts believe the girl would have died from hyporthermia had it not been for the family dog, a Queensland Heeler named Blue.
Local news station, KPHO, reported that Victoria was eventually found the following morning over one kilometre from her home, huddling up to the family Queensland Heeler for warmth.

A rescue helicopter eventually found Victoria, and the heroic dog, in the mountains surrounding the town.

Sgt Jeff Newnum, from Yavapai County sheriff’s office, stated:

She was able to stay warm with the dog.

It’s probably what saved her life — it was extremely cold out here.

Dwight D’Evelyn, another sheriff involved in the rescue, added:

The dog kept her alert, warm and gave her companionship throughout a very cold night.

The dog was so protective of Victoria that he was even uneasy about the rescuers who came to help them, although when he realised that they were there to help he moved away and allowed them to tend to the frightened toddler.
Matthew Uhl, the pilot of the rescue helicopter, explained:

She wasn’t moving when we first came upon her. She was kind of just looking face-down on the ground.
Uhl went on to add how the dog was protecting the toddler, but knew that they were there to help:

I think once the dog realized we were there to help them out, he was very excited.

He ran around while the medic tended to the little girl, and when it was time to go, he jumped right into the helicopter and was ready to go.

Blue may have even swayed one of the family’s sceptics when it comes to dogs, as Victoria’s aunt commented after she had been found safe and well:

We have to give a lot of credit to Blue.

He pretty much stayed with her all night.
I don’t even like animals and I hugged that dog so hard.
