I keep reading about how embassy security had no bullets in the gun...

Marines with guns.  No bullets.

Obama's sequestration will take $140 MILLION more from embassy security.  Maybe they'll take away the guns and give them flags stamped "Made in China"?

How much is $140 million?  Anywhere to save money to keep embassy security funded?

"Guilty plea in $1.6M Conn. food stamp fraud"

Quote
Federal prosecutors say a Wethersfield woman has pleaded guilty for her role in a $1.6 million food stamp fraud scheme.

U.S. Attorney David Fein said Tuesday that Lillian Adames pleaded guilty in federal court in Hartford on Monday.

Fein says according to court documents and court statements, the 46-year-old Adames illegally exchanged food stamps for cash between October 2006 and March 2009. He says she was helped by her husband and others, exchanging food stamps for cash with customers at six grocery stores in Hartford.

HUNTINGTON -- A Huntington woman was sentenced to jail Monday for her role in an illegal food stamp fraud scheme involving a local convenience store.

Stephanie Pauley, 35, of Huntington was sentenced to three months in jail and sixth months of home confinement as part of a four-year probation for her participation in a food stamp fraud scheme at the former ALLINONE convenience store in Huntington, according to a press release from U.S. Southern District Attorney Booth Goodwin.

She also was ordered to pay $127,000 in restitution.

Lafayette, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man will serve prison time and will pay over $1.2 million in restitution for food stamp and wire fraud, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley.

Vincent Edward DaPrince, aka "Vincent Briggs," 46, was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Lafayette to 51 months in prison per count, to run concurrently, and three years of supervised release per count.

Quote
Federal authorities said the investigation revealed that from Jan. 1, 2009 through Dec. 16, 2010, recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, would approach DaPrince's mobile convenience store in order to "sell" their SNAP benefits to DaPrince.

According to Finley, DaPrince would swipe the SNAP recipients' Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, and then would provide the recipients with 60 percent of the cash proceeds. Finley said he would then deposit the full amount through wire transfers into his bank account.

Are these hungry people?  Maybe they're hungry because they sell their food stamps?

Just a scam?

"Immigrant welfare abuse hits citizens in their wallets"

Quote
Pulling into town soon — maybe where you live — will be the UndocuBus, the so-called "Ride for Justice." In a shameless exhibition of United States immigration law flouting, the bus has emblazoned on its side "Sin papels, sin miedo" ("without papers, without fear").

...

This is more laugh-out-loud nonsense from open borders advocates. Almost nothing they claim is true. First, illegal immigrants don't live in fear. They drive to job sites, shop at supermarkets and sit in medical clinic waiting rooms just like everyone else...

...High on the list of immigration-related problems is that legal immigrants have accessed welfare programs even though they are expressly forbidden from doing so.

How do you verify the income of an illegal alien family?  Workers with bogus/stolen/unregistered Social Security numbers?  Any chance those 'dreamers' are going to the local welfare office and reporting their Social Security numbers, now that they can work legally?

Quote
This month...members respectively of the Senate Budget, Judiciary, Finance and Agriculture Committees wrote to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton demanding to know why the Obama administration refuses to protect American taxpayers from immigrant-perpetrated welfare abuse and fraud.
