It could be that the son was participating in one of the sports teams.  It shows various touch/tackle football teams, etc.   

On the preliminary report it shows additional people list of approximately 10 people.  Were those names of people that were present at the home with the LE officer took the orignal report?  I assume that was people that were neighbors who had been out looking, or friends that came to help.  I recognize her boyfriend Charles, and her friend Sean Patton, but who are the other people??

That is a good thought kat, and we see it all the time.  Offender released and then sometimes within weeks of the release they committ a similar crime. 

I wonder who the 4 children are that never had the crimes solved?  It sounded like they never recovered the bodies either.

ORANGE PARK -  The family of slain 7-year-old Somer Thompson is preparing to put the girl to rest, a week after she vanished in north Florida on her way home from school.

A viewing was scheduled in Orange Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, followed by a Tuesday morning funeral. After the final services, thousands of purple balloons will be launched from First Baptist Church of Orange Park.

A private burial and graveside service will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.

Authorities have investigated some 1,200 leads in the hunt for Somer's killer. Her body was found in a south Georgia landfill two days after she disappeared.

yes, it would be traumatic for the kids to see her empty desk everyday...they have probably already taken the desk away...
this makes me so sick that another family is experiencing this loss because of the pervs running around free..it is almost like our kids have to be locked up and not able to enjoy their childhoods while the pervs have freedom to do what they want, still hurting our kids...I am really angry...grrrrr...

7-Year-Old's Body Found In Georgia Landfill

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Investigators have received more than 1,150 tips but still don't know who killed 7-year-old Somer Thompson after she disappeared while walking home from Grove Park Elementary School one week ago.
At First Baptist Church of Orange Park -- where a viewing for the first-grader will be held Monday afternoon and a memorial service on Tuesday -- Pastor Devid Tarkington centered his Sunday sermon on how people can find peace at times of unthinkable tragedy.

"Everyone's feeling the same things. They're feeling fear, they're feeling anger, they're feeling frustration. All of those things. And they're natural; they're real," Tarkington said. "And the message is: God is not scared by any of our emotions and He can handle that. And if he's the God of answers -- and He is the God of answers -- He can see us through these storms of life."

At a fundraiser on Sunday for Somer's family, children played in a bounce house as adults watched carefully. They vowed to find the girl's killer and raised more than $18,500 so her mother doesn't have to go back to work immediately, WJXT-TV reported.

Somer's name and photo were everywhere at the carnival-like fundraiser, which was held in a tree-lined park next to the government center at the corner of Kingsland Avenue and Blanding Boulevard -- only blocks from where the girl disappeared.

Somer disappeared during her walk home from school last Monday. Her body was found in a Georgia landfill two days later.

"I've been crying since day one," said Amanda Wendorff, a co-organizer of the fundraiser. "When it's a child, it just touches a community."

Wendorff, the wife of a Clay County sheriff's deputy, has four children of her own. She urged people at the carnival to be on the lookout for anyone suspicious -- underscoring the fear that is running deep in the community.

Throughout the weekend, more than 50 detectives from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies continued combing through tips.
So far, no one has come forward to say they saw the girl abducted or attacked. Investigators have ruled out all 161 registered sex offenders who lived within a 5-mile radius of Somer's home.

Thompson's mother, Diena Thompson, praised the hard work of investigators.

"These detectives -- excuse my language -- are busting their (expletive) to find it. Because it's an it," Diena Thompson said Saturday, referring to the killer of her daughter.

A public viewing and funeral are planned for Monday and Tuesday, but graveside services and the burial will be private.

Dozens of mourners and supporters have held nightly vigils outside the Thompsons' home. They have gathered around a huge makeshift memorial of Hannah Montana balloons, stuffed animals and candles that have burned so long that the wax has melted into the grass.

"I'm shocked that this could happen in this type of community," Somer's maternal great-grandmother, Marie Spires of New Richmond, Ohio, said Saturday. "And that no one would see or hear anything."

An autopsy has been completed and investigators know how Somer died, but authorities won't disclose their findings or any details about the body.

Spires said she doesn't know how the little girl died.

Family and friends described Somer as a friendly little girl who rode her scooter around the neighborhood.

"She never met a stranger. She was very friendly," said Robert O'Cain, a neighbor. "She was always looking for other kids to play with."

Tina Justyna said her daughter, 11, would often go to the library with Somer at school -- and the pair would look at books about kittens and puppies. Her daughter is devastated that Somer is gone, she said.

"I don't let her watch the news," Justyna said. "She lost one of the few friends she had."

You know what the Kyle comment sounds like to me? Melissa Huckaby's phone call to the tracy press to explain the suitcase Sandra was found in. She obviously did that to explain why Sandra would be or was found in her suitcase...
Maybe this kyle person is trying to explain why they will find evidence of Somer being there. I wonder if she often stopped by there to say hi or see what they were doing? Maybe they had a dog with them that attracted her? Seems strange she would just all of a sudden think to go up to the door and say they are doing a good job. Why would a 7 year old little girl do that?
