After the past few days trying to remain connected to this site long enough to catch up reading and also dealing with my conflicting emotions over the recent events with this murdering freak of nature and his attitude to the world in general and his inhumane treatment of beautiful young women, I now feel ready to express my thoughts.

Firstly I had been feeling sympathy for Beth and Natalee’s family on the 5 year anniversary of the disappearance of this talented and beautiful young lady who has touched the hearts of many from her homeland and also around the world.

Then came this shocking news of what many of us had suspected and expected : Joran would attack and kill again.  It was pleasing to hear he had been caught and was to be interrogated as the only suspect in Stephany’s brutal murder.  The pictures of him in handcuffs and without his usual smirk are unforgettable and from all reports (for which I thank many monkeys who brought the items and videos to us here) the South American Police are a lot more competent and unable to be coerced into a cover up, such as we all saw happen in Aruba from the first day.

I cannot imagine what distress this news has caused Beth, particularly at such a poignant time for her, and my thoughts and prayers go out to her and all of Natalee’s loved ones.

I also send sympathy to Stephany’s family and I am in awe of them, that in the midst of their immense grief and horror, they can think of Natalee and show such compassion to Beth.  I feel confident that they will see that justice is done this time and two angels can then rest in perfect peace.

I along with others here also believe he has killed other young girls and I hope more of his heinous crimes can be laid at his feet and he will never see the light of the outside world again on this earth.

It has been great to see so many familiar monkey faces here from the past 5 years.  We have long speculated what it would be like to know Joran is being made to pay for his crime and we are going to follow this through however long it may take.

I also noticed during my catch-up reading that a monkey (2NJ?) mentioned Joran being persona non grata in several countries.  I do know he tried to visit our country and was refused admittance owing to his being a suspect in Natalee's case.  I do not know if he was just refused the visa through official channels or actually landed here and was deported.

Bless all of our monkeys for your loyalty to Natalee and now Stephany.

hello monkeys, did LE find stephahy erings? talking with my dad this morninh that if they find stephany jewerly with him, he will fase life in prision. i thought LP was only for kidnapers but my dad told me that a person robed somebody and the victim die during the robery..the killer receibes LP. my dad sayw that

Celita,  I have read this as well.  It's know Stephany left the casino with some winnings and it is my understanding that they are now missing as I have been following this angle as well.

Everything I have seen so far is in agreement that if a death occurs during the course of robbery it can carry the death penalty.  It is alleged that Joran stole her money at the least.
they know the monster is the killer, but LE wants fot him LP. people in peru said that some people ftom the hotel stole her jewerly when foumd her body and befote to call police. the jewerly will give him LP

There we go! That's one of the posts I was thinking of................

Anna, you have more fortitude than I.  I've switched channels to Fox, listened to a few minutes, and turned it off.  I can't listen to the lies promoted with a smirk.

Ha. I went to our local CityFest tonight and saw Eve6 and Travis Tritt! Trying to catch up now but there was no way I was watching Greta's special. I can only stomach so much lol.

SB & Spooky, so good to see you both--just like the old Nite Crew days.  I have emailed Tylergal and she knows aobut this and is watching as well. I think she will also check in soon.

The whole world is condemning Aruba for letting Joran go on "free feet" to kill again.  They have no credibility in the area of justice at all.  They do have the death penalty for murder committed during robbery.  I wonder if it is firing squad or hanging or what.  Bet it is not lethal injection.  I hope Joran is wondering about that as well.

Be glad you missed Greta as I think she was trying to show Joran in a sympatheic light without actually saying so.
I am quite far behind and apologize for the tardiness.  When I saw that Greta was basically a replay from when she'd previously been had by the psycho, I told my mother that I hoped this was Greta's "mea culpe".  Mom said no.  (why is Mom always right Smile)

Flores' body was badly beaten and investigators believe a tennis racquet in the room was used in the killing, Carlos Gonzalo, spokesman for Peru's Interior Ministry, told CNN. Despite reports that a baseball bat was the murder weapon, Gonzalo said there was not a baseball bat in the room.

The Dutch Consulate is now involved in the case and has volunteered a defense attorney for van der Sloot, according to Carlos Neyra, a spokesman for the Peruvian Investigative Police.

Of course they did.  The coverup must continue.  The Peruvians aren't fools, they will do the research.  Stephany's family will see this through.

In 2005 Joran's dad had enough influence to keep him out of jail.
In 2010 Stephany's dad has enough influence to lock him up for good.

Good morning Monkeys,
Out of curiosity, I searched the costs of flights from Aruba to Lima, Peru.  They are as follows:
               Copa Air    $610
               Avianca       850.
               Surinam       1227.
               American Air  1334.
Copa and Avianca stop and change in Columbia, the others in Miami.  My guess is that by the time he flew, took taxis, got hotel rooms, food, gambled, entered poker tournaments, etc. that the $15,000 was probably almost gone.  Maybe he played on Stephany's sympathy that he was broke and offered to sell her drugs or something else to get her to his room.  I hope they fingerprint the money he gave to the 20 hour taxi rides. My bet is it was Stephany's money. ($1700 winnings). I'd give anything to see his laptop history.

More advice from UK to its citizens arrested in Peru. (Assumes the charges are related to drug trafficking.)

I HAVE BEEN ARRESTED, WHAT COMES NEXT?

All that comes after the arrest is regulated by the Peruvian laws and authorities only, as
you have been arrested in Peru. The Peruvian Police has between 15 and 18 days to
complete the investigations of your case. During the investigations you will stay at the
Police station. The Police officers should provide you with a detention notification, which
we have translated into English for your understanding. You can find it in Annex A.

If you are held at DIRANDRO you will remain in a cell. There are 12 shared cells and 2
individual cells there. Your jewellery, money and personal documents, including passport,
will be taken into safekeeping. You might recover your clothes and personal items once
the investigations have finished. If you are receiving medication, this should be taken to
the prison as well.

The Embassy will not be able to keep your belongings at the Embassy, except for your
passport.

At DIRANDRO the police will take your statement, but probably without an interpreter. You
will not see a public lawyer until you are in prison. It is unlikely that we would be given a
private room to discuss things when we visit you. Most of the Police Officers do not speak
English. You will have a basic medical check everyday and receive food and water. We
will provide you with some toiletries.

At DIRANDRO you will very likely to be incarcerated with foreign nationals arrested with
drugs at the international airport of Lima. Peru is one of the biggest cocaine producers in
South America and drug smuggling is a serious crime. The airport in Lima is the most
important international airport in Peru and has effective drug smuggling controls.
After investigations at the remand centre, you will be taken to the Attorney General Office
at the Public Ministry.

At the AG Office you will appear before a judge who will decide whether to press charges
against you or not. You will probably stay there for a day or two. If you arrive on a Friday
you may remain there for the weekend. At the AG Office you will be held in a cell with other
detainees. Women and men will be separated. The cells do not have beds, but a bench
and a shared bathroom. There is not much light. You will be given water at your request,
but food is generally not provided.

As soon as we know that you have arrived at the GA Office we will try to arrange a visit
by an officer from the Ombudsman Office in Lima. We would provide this Officer with
some limited funds, which would be refunded to us from your first deposit of funds
from family or friends. With those limited funds the officer should buy you some food.

At the GA Office you will be interviewed. Your statement from the Police station will be
considered. The Attorney General represents the Peruvian State and if he/she considers
you guilty, he/she will file a complaint to the judge about your offence. If the judge finds
you guilty, you will be transferred to the Justice Palace. The Justice Palace is in the
Centre of Lima and the cells are ruled by INPE.

At the Justice Palace you will remain in a cell (women and men separated). If you are
a man charged for a sexual offence, you will be held in a separate cell for your own safety.
If you arrive at the Justice Palace in the morning you should stay there until the afternoon.
If you arrive at the afternoon you should remain there until next day (or during the weekend
if you arrive on a Friday). The INPE officers will interview you and decide to which prison
you will be taken. They will take into consideration the type of crime, your background and
the prison system. You will then be transferred to a prison.

If the Attorney General does not press charges against you, you will not have to go to
the Justice Palace and the prison. This, however, does not often happen with British
nationals involved in drug smuggling.

Thank you for this.  It certainly paints a picture.
When Joran goes to prison, he'll wish he was back @ AG. sleeping on a bench.
It sucks to be you Joran!

ahhhhhhhh I love that!  That is a perfect signature line!  The day my son got married was the day Beth walked out and collapsed crying at the news about Natalee.  It was hard to be happy that day when I saw another mom going through such injustice and pain.  Then I met and hugged Dave Holloway.  I told him I would never stop praying for them and I never have, we never have. I hope all the hurt that Joran Vandersloot has caused others comes back at him 1,000 times harder.

Quote
According to journalist Ivar Penris Netherlands, the mother of the murderer does not travel to our country because it lacks sufficient funds for transportation.

I find it very hard to believe that Anita wouldn't be traveling to Peru to see Joran because she can't afford to.

If she said that, that's not the only reason she's not going.

Where there's a WILL, there's a way.

I'm sure all her nitwit friends would contribute to the cause if she really WANTED to go.

JMO

I so agree.  Poor excuse using lack of funds as a reason.  She has relatives also, that might pony up some $$$'s.

What's wrong with saying there will be no comment from Joran's Mother?

I wonder if that's Anita's influence showing or if they just want to be involved in the case to make sure Joran doesn't talk about their cover-up to anyone.

Could he get anymore hemmed in? The security video is all it would take, but the clothes would independently be enough as well!

They can prove the murder twice................ I wish they could charge him twice!

Carpe this conflicts with an earlier report that he had nothing with him when arrested in Chile.
Do you think the more recent report is likely more accurate?
Or, have they since found his belongings, found bloodied clothes in the hotel room, or could the clothes he was wearing when found have blood traces on them from blood splatter in the room, if they were hung over a chair or something?

can, there are a lot of conflicting things right now. I swear that originally the Dutch said they wouldn't furnish an atty for Joran, and now they are. I'm sure that all of the facts will surface shortly and not change, but right now, I find it pretty frustrating!
