Hi everyone!

I haven't been on here in a few weeks.  got the house packed up in San Diego and we are now living outside of Orlando. Good to be back.

I have been keeping up on the news  .. now it's local real time

wasn't shocked to hear about George trying to kill himself... I figured that Cindy may follow one day.

My friend that works at the jail has told me there are rumors going around that Casey is pregnant.. I guess time will tell. She did look like she was busting out of that suit jacket when she was last in court.

When the story came on about Todd Black today, I told my husband that the monkey's knew this awhile back! He said who?  I said the Monkey's!  He thought i was nuts

Well I hope to keep caught up..I've missed a lot on the forum...hope that everyone is doing well...

Wouldn't surprise me at all!

Somehow, I don't think Baez coaching Casey to put her hair in a bun has the positive balance hoped for when weighed against his choosing a spokesman for the case that is a convicted extortionist.

Gil Cabot
Gil was Boy Wonder, starting at WALT as a 15 year old weekend disc jockey, while attending Hillsborough High School. Every one knew Gil, he was a very creative guy we knew would go some where and make it big.

Snipped for space.

Cabot has always had the knack of turning lemons into lemonade, even when the tragedy of being sent to prison in 80s. He was held responsible for something that an employee had done, but he successfully produced a multi award wining documentary called “Inn-mates” about prison life, and was successful in clearing his name of that false charge. From that experience he also launched the damage control public relations company, “ArrestedMedia”, which consults to high profile people, like Martha Stewart, Michael Jackson, and others who have to manage negative news coverage.

He cleared his name in the Jann Carl case?  Or was this something else?

He couldnt have cleared his name in that case he was convicted and sent to prison for extortion

I think a plea deal would be by far the most sensible thing for Casey to do.  But we have to remember that to a sociopath, any type of fame or recognition, even for a heinous crime like this one, is better than being anonymous.  We wonder how Casey can smile in the courtroom, and the answer has to be that she enjoys the attention she is getting, the way everything seems to be centered around her.  Although she is despised by most people, she is on tv and in the papers and has become a household word.  Likewise, for Baez, this is a win situation.  Lawyers need to be known, and he has been catapulted into the limelight along with Casey.  He has little to lose by going ahead with a trial.  The publicity is golden for him, even if Casey is convicted.  He, too, becomes a famous attorney, a household name, not just a name in the legal section of the phonebook.  And who knows...he may get to write a book or otherwise make money off the case once it is over.

I guess you could call it karma, but Baez could have plead the charges on KC down easily in late August & September when LE was offering her a deal. He could have had her plead to manslaughter and she would have been in good shape. His inexperience was showing as my brother said early when he didn't try for that plea deal.

The fact he didn't shows him to be in it for his own interests and wanted the publicity.  She could have walked with about 15 years, and with "good time" in Florida, she could have been out in less than 7 years. She wouldn't have even been 30 years old.

My brother said he likely could have worked out a deal of a max of 15 years if he could have shut up Cindy. He said Cindy is as responsible as Baez for her going to get life now. Wonder how she will feel about that down the road?  Because she seems to be as pathological almost as KC, she will just blame everyone else.

Former FBI Agent Reveals True Identity Of "Todd Black"
Monday, February 2, 2009 – updated: 5:07 pm EST February 2, 2009

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News may have solved the mystery surrounding the phantom PR man working for Casey Anthony's attorney. He calls himself "Todd Black," but that's not his real name.

A former FBI revealed to Eyewitness News that Todd Black is really Gil Cabot, a man who's spent time in prison for trying to extort money from a Los Angeles news anchor. The so-called Todd Black has been involved in the Casey Anthony case almost since the beginning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PR FIRM RESPONDS: Read Press Corps Statement
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The man who goes by the name Todd Black at Press Corps Media became defense attorney Jose Baez's public relations firm back in September. Eyewitness News went to Baez's office Monday and asked whether he knew from the beginning that Todd Black is really convicted felon Gil Cabot, but he would not answer any questions.

Baez hooked up with the phantom public relations man who goes by the name of Todd Black two months after Casey Anthony's first arrest, but the man never shows his face in public. One of Baez's partners, Jose Garcia, told Eyewitness News he's never seen Todd Black.

The public hear from Todd Black in October when he made a statement over the phone to a CNN show host.

"This is a very serious case, involving not just the loss of the life of this little girl, but the loss of whatever is going to happen with Casey Anthony," Todd Black said (hear it all).

"But I know that, based on the recording that I listened to, Todd Black is not Todd Black. Todd Black is Gil Cabot," former FBI agent Jack Trimarco told WFTV reporter Kathi Belich during a phone interview on Monday.

Trimarco, a former FBI lie detector specialist, investigated Cabot in the 1980s for trying to extort money from Entertainment Tonight talent Jann Carl, who was then a Los Angeles TV news anchor.

"We recorded many, many phone conversations between Gil Cabot and Jann Carl, although Gil was always using different names and different aliases in his scheme. He eventually got arrested and was found guilty," Trimarco said.

Trimarco said someone connected to the Jann Carl case recently alerted him that Cabot, aka Todd Black, was involved in the Caylee Anthony case. When he listened to a recording of Todd Black's voice, the voice wasn't the only thing he recognized.

"But I do believe that he had used the alias Todd Black back in the 1980s," Trimarco said.

Late Monday afternoon, Press Corps Media responded to Eyewitness News' question in an emailed statement (read full statement).

"It simply DOES NOT MATTER if our company was founded by a gentleman who spent time in prison over twenty-five years ago, especially since that distinction is a key selling point that brings credibility to our services assisting celebrities, politicians and others charged with a crime. It simply DOES NOT MATTER that when he sold the company in 1996 he remained a consultant, just like it simply DOES NOT MATTER that security names are assigned to our company staff," Todd Black wrote in the release.

That still does not answer the question, is he really Gil Cabot?

Mr. FBI agent should have asked Blink who knew this all the way back in OCTOBER! LOL!

Blink and team are hopeful that Ms. Belich and WFTV recalls where they got this information and provide a link back before Red finds out Smile

I can't imagine the prosecution would be willing to plead for much at this point. They've got the goods, and Casey's going down.

Question; If Baez gets a change of venue, the prosecution team in Orange County still stays with he case, right? I think that's right. I remember there was a change of venue in OJ's case, but the prosecution team was the same. That could cost the state a lot of money. If it were changed to Miami, for example, the state would be picking up the cost of housing and meals for a lot of lawyers and a lot of witnesses. Becase Florida is such a tourist state, that's not going to be cheap!

Hello monkeys and welcome new monkeys.

This is O/T but since it's slow I thought I would ask.
My DD read a book in school and they are setting up a courtroom and having a trial about the book.

It's about a 17 year old boy that got a riffle for his birthday and went into his back yard and shot it and the bullet hit a man working on his roof four blocks away and died. The boy at the time didn't know this happened but later learns what happened and didn't tell and hid the riffle.

My ?? is does any monkey know of a real life case close to this one that my DD could read about it and what the out come was. She is the proscuter.

Thanks so much
monkey hugs to all
Hey Stacey found this while searching for something else, Hope it helps http://www.all-creatures.org/cash/taah-sh-20041205-5.html

Stacey~did you see the case I posted a few pages back??

Yes thanks so much

Stacey, this just happened outside of Ft Worth at the Texas Motor Speedway. A lady was sleeping in an RV, got shot by a high caliber gun. A guy miles away turned himself in because he was shooting the same type of gun at the time it happened. They ended up doing ballistics tests and it wasn't the guys gun after all. They are still looking for the person that did it.

Thanks
