George Anthony Suicide Note Among Topics At Anthony Hearing
Casey Anthony Charged With Murdering Her Daughter

POSTED: Thursday, March 12, 2009
UPDATED: 8:44 am EDT March 12, 2009

Caylee Marie Anthony.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony is scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon, where a judge will hear whether her father's suicide note is related to her murder case, among other things.

WATCH LIVE: Anthony Hearing Streamed Live On ClickOrlando.com At 3:30 p.m.

Brad Conway, the attorney for George and Cindy Anthony, will ask the judge to block the eight-page suicide note from becoming part of the public record.

George Anthony threatened to commit suicide in January before he was found at a Daytona Beach motel.

"From the first paragraph of the letter I read, he wanted to end his life and wanted to be with his granddaughter," Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said after taking George Anthony to a hospital.

The letter contains personal -- and possibly embarrassing -- information, according to Conway, who said the note has nothing to do with Casey Anthony's criminal case.

Anthony, 22, remains jailed on first-degree murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee, whose remains were found in December near the Anthony family's east Orange County home.

Meanwhile, Casey Anthony's attorney will demand that prosecutors hand over volumes of background information about the forensics evidence that has been collected in the case, including items taken from his client's car, the woods where Caylee's remains were found and belongings seized from the Anthony home.

Jose Baez wants to know who specifically tested the evidence, what their credentials are and how they did it.

Baez will also be asking the judge to punish prosecutors for allegedly withholding evidence from him.

The defense claims the state has failed to give them a garbage bag that had once been inside the trunk of Casey Anthony's car. Baez also said prosecutors never told him about two scientists who examined evidence on behalf of the state.

A Notary Public ONLY certifies that a signature is authentic.  They check identification and register the document, but not the contents.  They do not guarantee that the contents of the document are true and legal, but only that the signature is authentic.  I don't think a Notary could be held liable for anything in the document.  In fact, Casey could have added the additional note which she designated #7 after the document was signed and notarized.  They actually have no business even reading the document, just certifying the signature.

Comway is pissing in the wind if he thinks this letter has nothing to do with Casey or this case.  I don't think GA would have been in a motel in Daytona Beach contemplating suicide, if Caylee had been found alive.

The statement from the DA's office as reported on TV was, "We have no record of a formal plea offer being made to Casey Anthony."  This indicates to me that perhaps an informal offer was made;  Or an offer was made of which there is no official record. I would not be surprised.  If they were to offer a plea deal to Casey and if she should accept it, it would save the taxpayers hundreds of thousand of dollars, and perhaps more.  A trial is expensive, especially one in which everything and everyone except a jury has to be moved to another jurisdiction because of excessive publicity or any reason for which it is thought the defendant might not get a fair trial in the jurisdiction in which the crime occurred. Personally, I think the prosecution would be derelict if no such approach is being considered.

Oh dang, all of this because of 1 or 2 jailhouse videos?
Naaaa,I think Jose is much more worried about other tapes appearing in the public if the Judge rules against him in this matter.

I agree with you.
I also keep wondering if the Plea KC said she turned down was the one that was given in the beginning, whereas she would have to tell them where Caylee was located, and KC's words would not be used against her in court.  (Sorry if someone has already said this - I'm far behind today).
