That's a good point, Cecilita.  He's so narcissistic he probably did just that.  Murderers are noted for following their crimes, as well as returning to the crime scene.

Hillary Clinton in Peru or Joran van der Sloot in Peru. What's the bigger story?

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Peru.

Unfortunately, the detention of Joran van der Sloot, the leading suspect in the 2005 murder of  Natalee Holloway, now suspected of killing a Peruvian woman, Stephany Flores, is garnering bigger headlines.

Foreign policy isn't as sexy as murder and intrigue. But it is arguably more important.

Clinton is attending the Organization of American States General Assembly in Lima. While there, she urged member states to readmit Honduras to the OAS.

That country was kicked out after the coup last year that ousted President Manuel Zelaya. He is in exile in the Dominican Republic.

"Now it is time for the hemisphere as a whole to move forward and welcome Honduras back into the inter-American community," Clinton said according to the Dow Jones News Service.

"It [Honduras] has demonstrated a strong and consistent commitment to democratic governance and constitutional order," she added.

I don't agree with Clinton. Whether you agree or disagree with Zelaya's policies, he was democratically elected.

I think he should be allowed to return and serve out his term.

But Honduras has already moved forward and held elections after Zelaya's ouster. But one can question whether that was legitimate.

If we allow Honduras to get away with a coup, then how can we defend democracy in the rest of the world?

It's hypocritical. And Clinton and the Obama Administration should know better.

Also in Peru this morning, Clinton praised that country for policies to reduce poverty, crime and combat drug trafficking. She met with Peruvian President Alan Garcia.

"The United States and Peru are working together to provide security for people and as President Garcia has discussed, that is security in their home, on the streets from crime, from drug traffickers and other threats," she said according to a story by the Andina news agency.

Clinton continues her tour of Latin America and will travel to Ecuador and Colombia. She will end her trip in Barbados where she will meet with leaders of Caribbean nations.

Hopefully, the media will cover her trip more than murder and mayhem.

Julia Renfro/Glenda gets owned on her own messageboard. Again.

What a sickening woman! There's a special place in hell for someone that has spent 5 years urinating on the mother of a murdered child... presumably to protect herself from fewer tourists buying whatever crap she sells on the island...

Van der Sloot confesses to Peru slaying
Paper reports suspect lost his temper after victim grabbed laptop

NBC News and news services
updated 29 minutes ago

LIMA, Peru - A high-ranking Peruvian government official confirmed to NBC News Monday night that Joran van der Sloot confessed to the slaying of a 21-year-old Lima woman.

According to La Republica newspaper, he said that his anger exploded and he broke Stephany Flores' neck after she grabbed his laptop without his permission, and found out that he was involved in the disappearance of an American woman.

The paper quoted Van der Sloot as saying, "I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life."

The Dutchman, who is also the prime suspect in U.S. teen Natalee Holloway's 2005 disappearance in Aruba, is being held in a seventh-floor cell with a bunk bed and blanket and gets three hot meals a day, said Maj. Jose Gamboa, spokesman for the Peruvian national police.

Van der Sloot is suspected in the May 30 killing — five years to the day after Holloway's disappearance — of Flores, a business student who police say he met playing poker at a casino.

Police released video Saturday taken by security cameras at the hotel where van der Sloot had been staying since arriving from Colombia on May 14. It shows the two entering van der Sloot's room together and the Dutchman leaving alone four hours later.

The woman's battered body was found on the room's floor more than two days later, her neck broken. Van der Sloot had by then crossed into Chile, where he was arrested Thursday.

In video taken of the husky 22-year-old Dutchman that was broadcast Sunday by a TV channel, Peruvian police search van der Sloot's belongings in his presence.

They pull out of his backpack a laptop, a business-card holder and 15 bills in foreign currency. Van der Sloot tells police the money includes Thai, Cambodian and Bolivian currency. He is asked for credit cards and documents and appears to say — his Spanish is very rudimentary — that they are in a hotel room back in Chile.

Earlier, Peru's chief homicide investigator, Col. Miguel Canlla, would neither confirm nor deny a Sunday report in the Lima newspaper El Comercio that van der Sloot told his Peruvian questioners he was innocent of the Flores killing.

"I don't know where that information came from," Canlla told The Associated Press. "We are still in the investigative stage."

Chilean police said earlier that van der Sloot declared himself innocent in the Lima slaying but acknowledged having met Flores.

Van der Sloot was represented by a state-appointed lawyer during Saturday's questioning.

Until he hires his own counsel, "the guys prosecuting him will decide which attorney he's going to get," van der Sloot's U.S. attorney, Joseph Tacopina, told the AP.

Tacopina said the suspect's family "is trying to find competent counsel."

Well, I don't want their prisons improved, either, while he's in one.

As for Hillary Clinton, well y'all may all quote me, really:  the current president makes me, a real Republican, nostalgic for the Clintons.

Me too. Never thought I'd say that.

Maybe it won't get him a lighter sentence; did anyone say they'd given him a deal?
NO DEAL, eh?  LOL   I guess they got him good in the box and bet he was crying when he confessed,  Big Mongoose whimp.

Why he says he did it doesn't matter--the fact he aadmitted doing it does.

And most places you can't just take back a confession.  In this country, "anything you say can and will be used against you" and the jury decides if it has merit.

EXCLUSIVE: VAN DER SLOOT’S HAND-DRAWN MAP OF WHERE NATALEE’S BODY IS. DOES “X” MARK THE SPOT??

I have just received a hand-drawn map that Joran Van Der Sloot drew, indicating where he now claims he disposed of Natalee Holloway’s body.

The map came from “Jaap,” a former friend of Joran Van Der Sloot. Dave Holloway put us in touch. Joran befriended Jaap after he won a reality show in the Netherlands, and a large sum of money. Just like he met Stephany Flores in the Casino in Peru. It’s Van Der Sloot’s MO to befriend people with money. Stephany had won $5,000.00.

Japp produced a documentary on Van Der Sloot, and Van Der Sloot told him yet another version of what happened to Natalee that night. He drew a map, and now I have the map. Because Jaap was in contact with Joran in the midst of the sting operation I mentioned in the last post, his communications were being monitored by the FBI. When Japp contacted me and informed me about the tapes he had, his house was raided that night, and investigators seized Japp’s computers, cell phone and the tapes he shot of Joran. I was able to get the map.

Tim Miller from Texas EquuSearch is here. I have given him the map and he is working on the search as I write this. It’s a stretch but Miller says, “We have to follow every lead, and we can’t afford not to do this.”

I stand with the girl, Natalee Holloway.

"I can look back over the past 10 years and there were no steps wasted, and there are no regrets,'' she said. "I did all I knew to do and I think that gives me greater peace now." "I've lived every parent's worst nightmare and I'm the parent that nobody wants to be," she said.

Texas Rick.....if the picture you are looking for isn't in our archives, I'm sure someone will have it.  I have it in mind, just not on my compuiter.

Thanks - there are 2 that I was able to locate on SM, but they were quite small... Steve Cohen with the Sloot family in front of a microphone outside KIA.  Boggles the mind.

He's a compulsive liar; for all anybody knows he made up the whole story about her looking at his computer.

I'm a couple pages behind still, but I agree with darleen.  He's a lying POS and he's even trying to blame Stephany for it and saying he didn't mean to.  Bullpucky!

I also don't quite believe that she was alive when he left for coffee.  Why were her pants off?

And I don't believe he's been keeping evidence of his guilt on his laptop either, I hope I'm wrong but I think that's just wishful thinking.

I think he killed her because he's a killer.

Beth has been so very quite,   I cannot even imagine what she is going through.

Joran will not live to see the outside of that prison, once he enters.

Well, for Glenda's information, it says he's confessed now.  I'll bet it doesn't really have anything to do with his computer, though.  He's such a liar.

I don't think it matters if he gets 10, 20 or 30 years.  I believe he'll be dead long before that.  But on the chance he's not, then he could be brought to the US on the extortion charges.  Not to mention if he admits to killing Natalee he could get another 6 months in Aruba (rolling eyes)

I agree - it is, IMO, a death sentence for him, no matter what the ruling is.  I doubt he will ever get out alive.
