Party leader Nelson Oduber took yesterday at a press conference at the party house of significant MEP from the Netherlands

ORANGE CITY - Former Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP) is not going to work on a criminal investigation from the Netherlands to the two cabinets in the past eight years he has led. He insists that only it can perform the Aruban OM. He also denounces the constant 'spying' carried out by the Netherlands to Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles "We can never allow Dutch gossip come here to seek."

The former prime minister denied that his side was a negative relationship with the Netherlands. "We had many protocols together and have worked together on several fronts." But he points to a number of points to Aruba and the Netherlands were diametrically opposed, namely the cessation of development, the debacle on Plant NV, gay marriage, the Common Court Justice Act and the concept of People Movement. Remarkable is the statement of Oduber that the Dutch Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch-Ballin (CDA) against the then Minister of Immigration Booshi Wever (MEP) would have said that with or without Aruba Netherlands would implement this Act.

Recurring motifs in these matters, said Oduber, is the lack of respect from the Netherlands to Aruba. From behind the back of Aruba to still try to sell the Plant Hotel in Aruba and the unauthorized use of Article 43 to the Statute in regard to the Common Court, to address the threats to the former Prime Minister D66 Alexander Pechtold leader in the issue surrounding gay marriages. The leaked report VNO and even spy and took the interception to former prime example of disrespect. "This is what I call making a false bomb threat in the Antillean government office, and then during the evacuation monitoring equipment to build."

The leader of MEP says himself in possession of documents and a CD-ROM with names, addresses, telephone numbers and number plates of not only himself but also by many people, including Curacao. This material would come from a laptop that was stolen from Dutch officials. "Netherlands paid a divine power to the Dominicans who have stolen laptops, to return to this possibility", said Oduber. "It is a shame for the Netherlands. I had a letter ready for the Dutch super-PG asking why my phone was tapped. At the urgent request of the Secretary, I have not sent that letter. But who knows I publish it yet. "The information of the stolen laptop Oduber said" the Netherlands "to do so.

Oduber has nothing good to say about the way in Sint Maarten study was done on corporate governance. "People were strangers in bars and asked whether she and the minister knew and whether she had information about. Sheer gossip practices. And on that basis, reports were made. "The former prime minister had no word on the Dutch State Secretary Ank Bijleveld (CDA) of Kingdom Relations. "Mrs. Bijleveld lying about the investigation", said Oduber. He would reign lady on June 22 in Aruba have agreed initially to investigate the rule of law and democracy do. "But now she is a criminal investigation."

I'd just skimmed this article yesterday before posting it, in going back this morning I realized that the issue about a stolen laptop was mentioned here too.

Still not sure I understand it.

I think I remember about the stolen laptops.......it was when the Dutch investigatiors were on the islalnd,
looking at the van der Sloot property and all of that.
The Aruban officials gave them a room to use as an office.
It was said that two or three women broke into the office and stole the laptop.
Of course we all speculated that it was Renho and her cohorts who had broken in.
The laptop was recovered in South America after they paid a ransom to the Dominican.

ORANGE CITY - The MEP-group believes that research on the state Board of which the Netherlands and Aruba last week reached an agreement on the autonomy of Aruba attacks.

Leader Booshi Wever (MEP) says that Aruba never from a study of corporate governance has been. "This should only be initiated by our own Judicial organs happen. Now you get a situation where a foreign entity our Public Ministry, an independent agency noted, will give instructions on what research and how they should perform. That can not? "The ex-minister gets the Aruban OM this is an admission of failure and the Aruban an irreparable blow to autonomy. "This really goes against everything that a law means. I would say, if you have proof that there had been disturbances in our government or any other government to now is, do return. OM Let her work. "

Weaver confirms the decision of former Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP) that the Dutch Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch-Ballin (CDA) would have told him that the Netherlands with or without consensus of the Act of the People Movement Aruba goes through. "Yes, he actually said to me. My answer was absolutely not. "Weaver said in New York have spoken with the Venezuelan UN Ambassador. "He indicated willingness to our situation on the agenda at the UN, provided that they do have access to the Realm and the concept itself as an opportunity to draw conclusion on. November 28, 2009, 12:01 (GMT -04:00)

This morning were 14 more addicts on the plane to the Dominican Republic put on a detoxification treatment.

ORANGE CITY - The controversial addicted Roof Riba Cabez in the reception center of Orange City closes its doors Monday. Yesterday was a big part of the furniture moved. Homeless addicts to rehabilitation centers have now in Dakota and Colorado or may Seroe treatment abroad.

Today went back to the clinic addicts Hogares Crea Dominicano in the Dominican Republic. It involved a group of 14 addicts, who were gathering in a building KIA prison in San Nicolas. People's Health and Sports Minister, Richard Visser and the consul of the Dominican Republic were also present and accompanied the addicts to the airport. The government made last week that the KIA addicts have to be collected. It mainly concerns people who for many nuisance or put under curatorship. With the conclusion of the reception addicted Roof Riba Cabez meets the AVP-Government to its election promise. The reception has been a thorn in the eye of local residents and shopkeepers of the main shopping street Caya Betico Croes. The retailers association of Croes Betico Caya, Mambo attributed the impoverishment of the city addicted to the reception. PDR: Research governance may well extract

November 28, 2009, 12:00 (GMT -04:00)

ORANGE CITY - Partido Democracia Real (PDR) has welcomed the agreement between the Netherlands and Aruba for a joint inquiry into the state government of Aruba.

According to party leader Andin Bikker is keeping a criminal investigation to a logical part of the published scientific research on corporate governance in Aruba. "The research itself has no legal powers. It is therefore agreed that the Public Ministry and the Central Audit Department for an investigation to do to allow a broader picture. "Bikker, who was house lawyer, notes that research, which incidentally no declaration is required, in itself not is a fact finding. "It is a compilation of facts. At certain moment there is a benchmark which decided whether to switch should be a real criminal investigation by the Prosecutor. "The response from the other opposition party MEP is that when the OM under direct instruction from the Netherlands such research, the autonomy of Aruba incurs a severe setback. "The attack on the autonomy argument is often cited when it suits some people well", says Bikker. "In this case there is also another fallacy behind. The Kingdom of the Netherlands is a federation. This means that in our case soundness of governance, though it is a primary responsibility of the country Aruba, ultimately remains a concern of the Kingdom. "

The leader of the PDR, the scientific research level of government pick up. "There may, for example as regards the recommendations are still adopting the regulation for financing political parties. Or the comptabiliteitsverordening can be updated as a result. Our party believes that this is very outdated. Now the fact is that public procurement often appears to have a beauty contest. You often know in advance all who will win. "

The strafeis of four years is high, said the judge, but in its place. Radar control on Aruba through Coastguard

27 Nov, 2009, 11:11 (GMT -04:00)

THE HAGUE — The Coastguard is solely responsible for the radar control on Aruba. The police and the Aliens organization IASA will no longer intervene. Premier Mike Eman (AVP) announced this during a conclusive press conference today in The Hague. He had been in the Netherlands on a working visit this week.

The Minister-President’s statements have ended a many years’ standing conflict. For a long time now the Netherlands had preferred that the Coastguard would become solely responsible for that form of border patrol, but the former minister of Justice, Rudy Croes (MEP) had detained such. Even though it had been agreed earlier this year that IASA would only supervise the radar this year, the responsibility now lies with the Coastguard. Aruba disposes of three radars and one of these will be allocated to the Coastguard. “They will be taking over the lease-contract” according to Eman this morning. The other two will be at the disposal of the Kingdom. One is most likely for St. Maarten, with the assistance of the Netherlands. Eman, “It will not regard a substantial amount, but the compensation will yield towards the budget.”

A choice for the most logical solution has been made, according to the Premier. “The Coastguard has the expertise and the equipment to act when they observe something on the radar.”

Relation
Premier Eman looks back on an enervating first working visit. His visit had been essential to improve the relationship between both countries, which had reached a low point during the past months. “It is an open secret that both countries had been on bad terms with each other”, the Premier had stated this morning. “We believe in the Kingdom and will do our utmost to put this relationship back on the rails again. We will try not to act emotionally, but on a rational basis.”
He had also been received well, he said. “It had been some challenge. However, we had toasted together on Thursday and it can be considered as a huge success. We had already invested considerably as opposition in the relationship with the Netherlands and I realize the importance of that previous history. Our discussion partners would have viewed us differently without that background.”

Steppingstone
Eman repeated during the press conference that Aruba would gladly be a steppingstone for large Dutch companies such as Philips and Unilever. The South American market could easily be swept from Aruba. “We are familiar with the South American language and culture. We have our contacts” according to Eman. Apart from economical growth, this could also include another substantial advantage, namely bearing surface, according to the Premier. “One observes that the support of Kingdom-concept is diminishing within the Dutch society. This could change if large Dutch concerns would become more prominent.”

Eman had had no time for a trade mission this week. However, there had been a conversation with KLM, which airline company had terminated the regular service Aruba-Amsterdam last March after dozens of years. “We would gladly welcome the blue bird again”, the Premier had stated. “The departure of KLM had symbolized the pauperization in the relations.” Eman still hopes that the KLM will return in due course, even though the conversation had been ‘very conceptual’. “I think that KLM wants to realize more than merely resume scheduled flights in due course,” he stated optimistically. According to Eman, the ABC-Islands should become a hub for flights from and to the Caribbean region.

Eman had laughed aloud, when asked about his conversation with Queen Beatrix on Tuesday. He had chuckled, that “The coffee had been good”. “We have furthermore experienced in the Netherlands how one fares, once you mention a thing or two.” Eman referred to the Lower Chamber-member Arend Jan Boekestijn of the VVD, who had blown the whistle on his confidential conversation with the Queen. He had eventually resigned as Chamber-member. “For that matter, I wish to mention that it had been quite an experience to speak with someone who exceeds beyond all political suspense.”

The debt reconstruction of Aruba had not been discussed during the past week, which would not have been wise either, says Eman. “The Netherlands is too familiar with challenges in the financial field. We should consider this once it actually becomes necessary to approach the Netherlands.”

Smit Salvage to recover Divi Divi wreck

26 Nov, 2009, 07:22 (GMT -04:00)

WILLEMSTAD — The American Ministry of Defense is granting the research ship Henson permission to assist with determining the exact location of the plane wreck of Divi Divi Air, which aircraft had made an emergency landing and sunk in the sea at Small Bonaire last month. Smit Salvage will be carrying out the salvage operation.

The official permission mentions ‘assistance with localizing the Britten-Norman Islander-aircraft and the pilot’. In the meantime, Dutch commercial salvaging companies have been researching the possibilities to recover the aircraft and the pilot’s body. Mammoet, amongst others, - which had also salvaged the wreck of the Russian submarine Koersk – had submitted a quotation, but Smit Salvage had been given the order.

Transport-minister Maurice Adriaens (FOL) confirms that Smit will carry out the salvaging. The Henson could have done this as well, but there ‘are too many legal snags’ according to the minister. It is not clear yet when Smit will begin the salvaging operation. Henson’s official activities will start this Saturday.

The research ship Henson had arrived on Curaçao at the beginning of this month. The Schottegat functions as a temporary homeport, where the Henson will perform maintenance activities, bunker, test equipment, and the crew will also enjoy some R & R. They had immediately expressed their willingness to assist with the salvaging attempts of the aircraft. The USNS Sumner, which is also a research ship from the American Navy, will accompany the Henson.

The 9-sitter Britten-Norman Islands had made an emergency landing at sea on October 22nd after one engine had failed approx. one mile south of Small Bonaire. The nine passengers had succeeded in existing the aircraft almost unscathed and rescued by surrounding boats. The pilot had become unconscious and trapped in his seat upon the emergency landing. They had not succeeded in freeing him from his position so that he had sunk to the bottom along with the aircraft. The question is what would be left of the body more than one month after the accident. The recovery of the aircraft could also provide more information on the reason for the emergency landing. Generally speaking, these two-engine aircrafts could continue to fly for quite a while on one engine.

International trade in stolen outboard motors

26 Nov, 2009, 07:19 (GMT -04:00)

ORANJESTAD — The judicial authorities had apprehended several people yesterday afternoon in connection with an international trade in stolen outboard motors. The motors are supposedly from the United States. Moreover, several motors as well as jet skis and motor spare parts had been confiscated during house searches. The house searches had been conducted at numerous locations amongst which houses and garages in Bakval, Bubali, Bucuti, Bushiri, and Matividiri. The Prosecution Council had chosen not to comment on the case yesterday. The involved officials of the Prosecution Council had not been available for comment this morning.

It is reported that the judicial authorities had acted upon indications from the American Prosecution Council. The main suspect supposedly imports boats and had sold these to various owners on the island. The motors of all of these boats had supposedly been stolen in the United States. The other suspects state they know nothing about the large-scaled theft and point towards the suspected importer.

The judicial authorities had traced the suspect by checking the serial numbers of the motors with several boat owners. The origin of the motor had been requested upon a questionable serial number. It is reported that there had been three apprehensions and that more than 25 motors have been confiscated.

For that matter, the main suspect is no stranger to the police, according to various local media. He had supposedly tried to trick an insurance company out of 200.000 florins. There is a current criminal investigation into this fraud regarding this suspect. The man had supposedly lost a civil case in First Instance and the appeal to a higher court.
