My Dad had his own section of the fridge. Pickled eggs, herring,
pickled pigs feet, blue cheese. Lovely aroma from that section in the back of the fridge. He had to make his own stuff like that. Had to eat it too. And my Auntie would make some delights from the old country and deliver them to him.
The rest of us would just gag.

That sounds as bad as the "collard balls."      

HeHeHe  yep, collard balls really had me stumped when I first heard about them. I thought someone rolled collard greens into little balls and somehow got them to stay that way.

SAM: OMG Florida say it ain't so. I remember Sandrak posted a picture somewhere (probably the original refugee site) Or it could have been here, the pic was supposedly Lorenzo and someone. They both had mask and body paint as I remember. I figure it was one of her many little jokes.

Carnut, you never had hog-head cheese or souse?  Shame, shame.  (Well, honestly, me either).     I don't eat pork so I never had to eat that but I have seen it and have seen sausage made.  My children and DH eat pork, but not me.  I have seen pickled eggs and pickled pig feet sold in bars on the beach.  Yuk.  I just never understood how anyone would want to eat that, but then I am not a pork eater.

They play R & B Christmas songs big band style.  One of my favorite songs is "Santa's Got a Hot Rod."   Every year they are on Leno, Letterman, etc.  

BTW, I eat crackers in bed too!

I like pickled eggs and even have a jar in my fridge.  

One of my uncles had a pig farm.  No way would I ever eat a pig's foot.
