2:20 p.m. An attorney for the Orange County Sheriff's Office just described the child's body found near the Anthony house as a "little girl." It marks the first time an official for the agency has identified the gender of the body, which is believed to be Caylee Marie.

The gender came up as the attorney for the Sheriff's Office was describing what types of photos the agency was not willing to turn over to Jose Baez, who represents Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony.

Baez, who wants photos of the crime scene where the body was found, can file a public records request and the sheriff's office may turn over certain photos. But the attorney said the agency would not turn over photos showing the skull of the "little girl."

Wouldn't it be great if the judge said "Jose, put your hand on my desk", Dumbo did, and the judge smacked Ol Josy's mitt with the gavel??? (Ah, another in the list of "Things I'd Love to See Happen to Jose)

ORLANDO -- A judge has called a request by Casey Anthony's defense for a second autopsy a moot point because the first autopsy has not been completed. He also denied a request for all photos taken at the discovery site.

The defense filed motions asking for a second autopsy on the bones and is also asking for all photos, videos and drawings taken from the discovery scene. An emergency hearing is still in progress.

The bone size and hair color of the remains match Casey's daughter, Caylee, who has been missing since June.

A representative of the medical examiner said that concern over loss of evidence during the autopsy is unfounded because only about three inches of bone would be lost in the process due to toxicology testing.

Casey Anthony remains in jail, charged with her 3-year-old daughter's murder.

Last week, Jose Baez, Casey Anthony's attorney, also said he wants it ordered that forensic evidence in the case be preserved.

That's my fear, but I feel that will be done.

There is a part of me that wants to see Baez follow this through to the end. Continue to make an ass of himself, and continue to provide Casey with his "expert" representation. In the end his practice will fall. He is and will continue to show the world that he is nothing more than an ambulance chaser. If he gets out now then he can still save face to some with some comment of how he could no longer represent her knowing the truth... My opinion anyhow ...

My feeling is he will come out and tell the truth, hopefully before it's too late. I think he KNOWS what happened to Caylee, he just never heard the words come out of KC's mouth, but he KNOWS. CA does too, but I don't know that she'll ever face the truth. I think KC may have tried to tell them, but CA wouldn't let her. Without even talking about "what happened", they all "covered up" together. If that even makes any sense. Anyhow, that's just a "gut feeling", of course I don't really know.

Not a  Floridian here but I don't believe the deceased have rights as such.   Caylee will likely be represented by the law and Prosecution only.  If she were living, she could have guardian ad litem for court action, etc. but being deceased, just the laws will apply.

With neither Anthony working, I would think they would be forced to charge something for appearances, etc. or lose their home.  And doubt they get a free attorney as does Casey.

Before he went to grand jury, George was puffing (my description of when George exhales through his mouth) and doing a press conference stating 'this is so hard, hardest thing i've ever done, etc.'  Lots of monkey got caught with their bananas peeled as the next day George is out professing Casey's innocence.  I didn't believe him then, and I don't believe this now.  They've known for 5 months that Caylee is dead.  And I understand if other monkeys don't agree with me...I've got my big girl pants on today  ::MonkeyWink::

Guideposts---Yup.  Remember the "She's been moved nine times?" And "We know who has her and we have people watching those people?"  He's in it up to his eyeballs. I don't believe he saw Casey and Caylee on June 16th and I don't believe Caylee was even alive on June 16th. In fact, IMO he helped Casey move the body.  I think the gas cans were not the only things he found in Casey's car trunk. Of course he's sad.  He's about to be caught. I wish it were true that he would blow the whistle but he doesn't have the cajones to defy Cindy nor does he have the cajones to tell the truth.   Bunch of inhumane creatures.

The day of the grand jury, I was thinking wow he did the right thing, and then like you said next day professing Casey's innocence. I'm torn, with the pic, it is sad, maybe he is thinking, let me push Cindy under the bus, and go and tell everything I know. Then the other side of me is saying it might be staged. Maybe the next couple days will answer that question for me.

I do not think that it is staged nessessarily.  Granted the Anthony's know that when in public, all eyes are on them, but this to me looks like a man who is struggling.  He clearly has a lot of built up emotion, we have seen it on his face countless times.  He is the quiet one now, for the most part, his antics consisted of watering protestors at one point, but since then he has had a hard hit of reality I think, it been the Cindy Show for the most part.
This man is struggling with raw emotion, he has lost his granddaughter, its becoming clearer to him with each passing moment.  He atleast tried to not make a spectical of himself by doing this in his car, where Cindy..she would have been looking for the nearest camera to break down in front of.

I get all caught up in Cindy's rantings and George's words too. Sometimes I have to step back and re-listen to Cindy's original 911 calls. She may have very well purposefully covered for Casey; In fact I think she did. George certainly has acted like an idiot many times throughout this.

But this I do believe: Cindy's emotions in those first calls were real. Twisted as she is, I believe she loves Caylee dearly. I also believe that George is more realistic but heavily caught up and influenced by Cindy. Casey and Cindy have contributed to his "twisted" thinking, but I believe he loves Caylee too.

I believe he is in pain, and I believe Cindy will be if she's not now. She's got the capacity to continue to partially deny until she recieves the remains. She's nuts. I don't think she will ever believe Casey is guilty.

Guideposts---Yup.  Remember the "She's been moved nine times?" And "We know who has her and we have people watching those people?"  He's in it up to his eyeballs. I don't believe he saw Casey and Caylee on June 16th and I don't believe Caylee was even alive on June 16th. In fact, IMO he helped Casey move the body.  I think the gas cans were not the only things he found in Casey's car trunk. Of course he's sad.  He's about to be caught. I wish it were true that he would blow the whistle but he doesn't have the cajones to defy Cindy nor does he have the cajones to tell the truth.   Bunch of inhumane creatures.

Okay, so who was in the house on the morning of the 16th when Cindy said she knew that Casey and Caylee were asleep in Casey's bedroom?  Was George still home since he doesn't go to work until the afternoon?  Were Casey and Caylee actually still there or had they already left in the night because of the fight the night before?  Someone is lying through their teeth.  Just thinking out loud about a truely dysfuntional and posssibly horrific family.

I am with you Guideposts...they have hardened my heart over and over.  My guess is he is wondering

1.  If he has to go get a job?  Where?   Cindy is certainly unemployable.
2.  Where are my best friends and support, the Milsteads?
3.  If they we are going to lose the house
4.  If they are going to jail..at the least lying to LE is against the law.
5.  If Cindy is about to crack because she can't get in front of the camera and spout her crap and strut.
6.  How LE figured out that he was deliberately leading them away from where Caylee was. (The supposed chase in Cindy's car, staring out into the "woods" looking where to place the tent, etc.)

Sorry, monkeys....just can't go down that sympathy trail with the theory that he is "feeling bad".  What happened to protecting Caylee?  His first wife sure didn't have anything nice to say about him.  What about throwing his Dad through the window?  

I would love to see the court papers that George & Cindy filed for their separation back in 12/06.  What grounds were listed there?  Cindy's mom said he was going to get alimony??????

in regards to the photo of George... I dont feel staged coming from it. To me it looks like a man who thought he had a private moment in his car, and a man who is completely overwhelmed. I dont know what the overwhelming comes from...but I know the emotion from loss... and no matter what his involvement or lack of...he has to be just flat out tired.

I do not excuse George for his behavior.  I think in the way that Casey was co-dependent with Cindy which fostered a love hate relationship, that it is possible George is co-dependent as well -  only instead of hating Cindy he fears her and tells himself (as expressed in conversation with LE) that he must look after her...he thinks that by agreeing with her as in the acknowledgment to Cindy that it WAS the pizza in the vehicle (rather than decomposition odor) that he is looking after her.  MO.  George has stood by Cindy while she spins her tales...He chose NOT to support little Caylee by refuting evidence and knowledge of decomposition in that vehicle. 
Maybe now he is facing the awful truth...and will decide to take another path, clear his conscience and grieve for that lovely child who was not given a chance at life.  Little Caylee who could sing you are my sunshine so sweetly and who's words "Papa" will always ring in my ears.

I really do not believe that the Anthony's helped KC move the body or anything else that nefarious. If they had any involvement to that degree, KC would have thrown them under the bus from day 31. I think that there was an unspoken agreement within the ranks to mislead and misdirect LE away from KC without completely understanding what took place. I would bet that KC has told no one the truth especially her parents. They were led on by her because at some level they wanted to be, they wanted that small element of hope that the situation was not as horrific as it is. The continuos public displays of abhorrent behavior and deceit have made them look guilty and foolish, there will be consequences. At the same time though, now that they are forced to deal with the loss of little Caylee, I think they will be as broken as any one of us dealing with the same loss. I don't feel the need to like or admire the family to feel some compassion for what they are going through. No amount of money or spotlight is going to fill the hole that losing Caylee will have left in their hearts.

Talking about crime scene....he's saying that within 1 hour of investigators seeing the crime they secured the Anthony's house...which is a tell-tale sign (this guy's an ex-homicide detective, but can't remember his name)  that there was something specific that investigators recognized from the A's home at 1st look....prob from the earlier searches at their home.
He gave some examples:  a particular color of rug fibers, bedding fibers, a teddy bear or another stuffed animal or doll

Sunny, IMO he will not leave if there is one penny to be made exploiting Caylee's murdre, whether it's tv appearances,books, movies etc. He has given all of us the impression that he wants to do the right thing and the next morning dawns and he's right back to acting like Spindys lap dog. Even before all this he didn't exactly seem to have the greatest work ethic so if his grandaughter 's death can keep him in the limelight and somehow he can turn the negative focus away from him, he probably can see himself as a missing child spokesman ala Milstead.  Pathetic waste of space....

I was just thinking after reading all the posts regarding the picture of George.....that the only chance he has of a life will be to leave cin-cin.....I do not believe even when casey is convicted that cin-cin will ever accept that casey killed Caylee.....she will either lose what mind she might have left or go on some insane campaign to prove casey is innocent. I think that you are right Sunny.  IIRC didn't the trial, which was to be behind closed doors, accidently leak out through a media line from the court room?  The Judge warned all who had heard to not utter a single word of what they had heard.
Since this trial, George really has not come out and said too too much.  Its mostly been Cindy. 
I agree, his best shot at a some-what normal life would be to leave Cindy, she is not going to ever let this go.

I can't help but think George fears he could be in some legal trouble.  Why would his new lawyer be requesting immunity for him and Cindy otherwise?
It is possible that George is feeling remorse for all he has done and NOT done.  Albeit, all too late.

I agree.  Then again, it could just be that information that we have already read in doc dumps, and then some I am sure.  From what I understood though, not every media person there heard it, only a few were plugged in at the time.  Thank goodness Murt was not one of them, it never could have been taken back as his feed is live.

As I said last night IMO innocent people do not need immunity....I think they have both lied and impeded the investigation....but I thin cin-cin actually destroyed evidence not only by washing the pants...but I just have a feeling she has done other things...and no it's not a physic feeling...just one of those things that nags at your brain..I don't know what...perhaps she know that Casey replaced whatever was used to wrap Caylee in and that was why she refused to give up the charge statement from JCP, I also think she herself called in tips just to keep tips coming in.....I remember she didn't give the FBI Caylee's hairbrush.....why? Seeme, your post just gave me a thought.  What if what the bag was something KC was wearing at the time she put Caylee in the bag?  The item got decomp on it, like her pants that she ditched in her car; and so instead of washing it off, she took it off and threw it in the bag with Caylee (that is so awful to write) to get rid of it.  Could be the lanyard, an id, the missing ring....

A lanyard is normally used to hold a name badge for work or something.  Hospital employees often wear name badges.  I'm sure Universal Studio's people do too.

Whatever LE found at the crime scene must have been some kind of smoking gun.  They sent that officer over to Hopespring pronto.  Once again the only person (outside of LE) that knows what they found isn't talking.

Any doubt that I had about Geo helping dispose of the body went out the window when the body was discovered.  Being former LE, he wouldn't have put the body in his own neighborhood, imo.   ::MonkeyNoNo::

O/t my sisters son was killed the same time as the Walsh child, and I could put their pictures side by side and I dont think she could tell the difference.  Very strange.

Oh, my husband's (and the Mexican waiter's) is a badge that goes on his belt and has a retractable rubber band on it (that's why my little girl loves it). So maybe that doesn't qualify as a lanyard.

Even in those video tapes from jail, you can hear her suggestions/questions to Casey.  Did so and so have a key, well what about so and so.  Did Zany have a key to the house.  Do you think the kidnappers might hurt the family.  All these type of questions that Cindy put to Casey were just to assist Casey IMO and to assist her and encourage her to continue her alibi/s.  She couldn't very well tell her daughter on tape not to confess but I think her conversations suggested that.  While Cindy is busy defending Casey at every turn...I bet deep down she'd like to smash her!

LP has mentioned the hotel theory a lot.  I just heard the latest about a possible sighting of her pacing in the parking lot.  Nothing more has come of that though.
IIRC someone, possibly Nancy, called LP out on why he thought she stayed in a hotel, was it due to credit card activity or what not, and IIRCC he said he was just thinking that she had to stay somewhere for all of those nights that she was not at home or at Tony's.  (That was the gist of what his response was atleast.)  Now it seems he may have a witness....I hope more comes out with this.

I totally agree.  It also was something obvious to LE and distinct to the home.  Personally, I think it was bedding or a towel that matched those in the home.  I'm sure there is a lot of other valuable evidence beyond that also.

Tracy was killed in a car accident.  I had to identify his body because my sister was out of town.  After this happend, I had the strangest dream.  The two boys came to my door together, they had fishing poles and they were smiling, I started to ask Tracy how that could be, that he was alive, and he smiled and put his finger to his mouth and they left. They could have been twins.

Aww!  I do feel for George * a little *.  I know that he isn't in denial, but goes along with Cindy as to avoid the abuse.  And I do feel has probably abused him (verbally.)  ::MonkeyNoNo::

I have had ups and downs since following this case for the last 6 months.  I have felt sorry for the grandparents and then anger towards them.  I wanted little Caylee found but I wanted her found alive.  That was before the evidence that was found that she was no longer living.  I was so upset and didn't know what to think of GA, CA and LA.  When LP was searching at JBP and the divers found something they said was bones I sat and cried.  Then we found out it wasn't that at all.  I wanted Caylee to be found and brought home for a proper burial.  Now that she is I don't want the grandparents to be able to plan the funeral as I think they will find some way to continue to profit off of the death of this precious baby.  I do think they are grieving grandparents and even though I feel for them I do think that they let little Caylee down in so many ways.  I'm tired of riding this rollercoaster and wish it would come to an end soon.  I'm a mother and a grandmother of a beautiful little girl almost Caylee's age and all this just breaks my heart.  I want to be on here and watch television to see what is happening but part of me doesn't.  Hopefully, this will all come to an end soon and hopefully they will have a private service for this baby and not make a specticle of it.  Sorry for the long post but this case has consumed me.

Just had a thought that maybe they found that phone she said she lost.

Maybe it is the fact that the bones have been found. The skull had duct tape on it. The body was out there so close during the rain and storms, heat, bugs, animals. It has to be a helpless feeling now to know this stuff. Knowing she was probably dead and now with the discovery it makes it real. That baby was thrown out like trash. I think that is what the impact is now on Geroge..not sure on Cindy. She probably has alot of guilt especially that the last time she saw Caylee she and Casey had argued and Caylee probably was scared and cried.

I think the most truth will come out of George now. He has to do it for Caylee. If Casey goes under the bus...well don't let the fumes get to honey...oh...maybe you should inhale.

Brandi - You rock!!!  You are so sweet and thoughtful to always make sure your fellow monkeys are dressed and sparkly.  How awesome is it to have such a talented monkey friend?!?!?

I think the ME is waiting to announce a positive identification hoping to find a cause of death.....I think I heard that bone and hair was sent to the FBI Lab...probably looking for chloroform.....I don't mind that at all....I think everyone knows this is Caylee and quite frankly I don't mind this stall, if that's what it is...I HATE the thought of cin-cin getting her remains...I feel that had cin-cin not gone through all this I believe you crap with Casey, continued to spew her lies about the nanny, the sightings, etc. Casey would have cracked long ago...but as long as she had cin-cin in her corner...talking trash, she was able to keep up the lies...

LP was on a news discussion yesterday which was Fox, Cnn or Headline channel and he said the bones were wrapped in a sheet. Now he didn't say sheet again on NG so I don't know. Sometimes he spouts off stuff and it makes you wonder if it slipped. To me sheet made sense since it probalby matched the Winnie the Pooh decor and we saw that they took some of that stuff as evidence.

I thought it was great when Judge Strickland mentioned today in court at the hearing that the presence of Baez and his "experts" at the site (albeit as spectators off the site) may have prompted the inspectors to spend more time there and be more thorough with their investigations. And Strickland followed that up with saying they are entitled to do what they need to do and take as long as they need to do it!

Love that Judge. Too bad he will not be presiding over the trial in March.

Is that the law in Florida that the grandparents would get the remains.  What about Casey, she is the mother, whether she is in jail or not. Would it not be up to her as to the disposition of her daughter's remains. Whether she should be cremated, burial arrangements, etc.

I do  not have a link but within an hour of the find of the remains I read that on one of the Orlando websites.  It said that Caylee was not  with her and that she was recorded pacing outside of a hotel.  That is the only place I saw it, and haven't seen it again.

Brandi - I read the same thing, that he would still be presiding over this case.

George may let Cindy lead him around too much; but, you gotta' admit that testifying before the grand jury had to be huge in one's life (to step up and testify against your own child) and, it's obvious that he is in pain in this picture, too.  So, of all the family members, he seems to be the only one with a little humanity and trying to do the right thing.

Since this picture was first posted, I refrained from commenting until I thought about it for a while.  I think this is true, that he is probably crying about a lot of things.

At first when the picture was posted, I felt sadness, then anger (like it was staged and we were being played again), then sadness.  The reason why I refrain from saying anything bad about George after seeing this pic is that . . . think about it . . . it takes a lot to break the Anthony's facade, their false fronts.  I really truly believe George is gonna crack.  Sure, he is in a sense responsible for the position he is in, but he is a human being and I would feel terrible if I made fun of him after seeing this picture and he did himself in.

So all in all, if it was staged, I guess it was very effective.  Cause even this sarcastic monkey is going to give George his space.

2:46 p.m. Robert Guthrie, an Orange County attorney, said during the hearing that Orange-Osceola Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia has a legal obligation to study the remains and she doesn't want "strangers" interfering.

He was referring to Baez's request to have defense experts involved in her investigation.

Baez complained in one of his failed motions about the possibility the bones will be "macerated" -- a process that removes soft-tissues from the bones by soaking them in cold water and/or boiling water. The procedure helps experts focus only on the bones.

Guthrie acknowledged that Garavaglia anticipates there could be about three inches of "bone loss" and that could include maceration.

I just love that Dr G is on the case.

Channel 9 had a reporter at Hopespring Drive very soon after the news broke about what was discovered near the school.  They were on the scene when Mallory pulled in and showed LE arriving too....anyway...they noted that LE was in a hurry to secure the back yard.  I found this interesting.  I wonder if LE found something at the sight that tied into the backyard.

I heard that day that investigators spent a lot of time in the back yard there. Taking pictures, and concentrating on "the shed." They have several, IIRC. But I too, heard that they were very interested in the back yard at Hopespring Drive.

No Nikki, no rotten nanners. I do still have some sympathy for George (along side frustration & anger too). If I hear he was actually involved, or KNEW for a fact (meaning KC actually told him/CA-I don't believe she did)that Caylee WAS gone, then I will have NO sympathy whatsoever! For now, I still hold a little sympathy for him. I know he's a broken man in many ways, I really hope he didn't actually know the truth. He may have known in his heart, but not for a fact. If he truly knew in his heart, I wish he had the strength to get KC to come clean. We have to wait and see, I hope he/they don't continue the nanny story. It has to stop. They need to come to grips and face the truth whether they like it or not!!

I agree with your feelings towards George.  I pray that he would go to FBI/LE and give the truthful story.  Then after all said and done, he gets immunity and Cindy gets charged for obstruction.

Officer Nieves has just stated that they do not have a positive ID on the bones yet, NOR do they know the sex of the child- someone stated earlier (prosecution at today's hearing?) that it was the skull of a girl....    this was just announced on Headline News.

While there isn't actual breaking news at the moment, I wanted to take the opportunity to comment on monkeys feeling ignored.

I joined SM in June of 2005, just after Natalee Holloway went missing. I was interested in the case because Natalee was from Alabama, and I live in an area that is on the TN/ALA state line, so Natalee's case was covered often in our local news.

In the 3 1/2 years that I have been posting here at SM, I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I've felt ignored. I also cannot begin to tell you how many times I've seen other posters be upset for feeling ignored. It seems to simply be part of the posting experience here. People (1) get behind and read quickly to try to catch up so they miss things; (2) agree with what you say but don't see a need to say so; (3) disagree with what you say but don't want to start an argument; (4) or miss what you say because they made a long and thoughtful post, which posted over onto the next page, so they never saw your post at all.

Please don't anyone ever feel hurt if it seems that you're being ignored. It's all good, the monkeys love and support each other, and sometimes you just have to jump up and down a little in order to get noticed.  ::MonkeyDance:: ::MonkeyHaHa::

They just said on the news that investigators are dealing with poison ivy.  I'm curious about whether or not Casey said anything during these texts about a rash? I know at some point she said she was sick...  maybe she had poison ivy and didn't want anybody to see it, so she said she was sick?
