Hello again, monkey friends.  JSM I'm so sorry poor Josef has been having such a time.  And for you!

  Hi Mind on Fire, I didn't realize they would show skating so early. I feel so sorry for Josef. You could just hear his belly rumbling. 

aawwwww...do you have any rice....you can cook him a scrambled egg and a little rice.. or chicken and rice ......

I do have some rice, no chicken, just tuna. I am afraid to give him anything right now because he just got sick again.

I don't know what to do for Josef. He just threw up again while we were outside, yet he tried to chase a cat into the bushes and I had to break my back to keep him from getting it. If I call the vet, they will tell me to bring him in and the on call vet will want to do all kinds of stuff that I can't afford and Joe doesn't need. Please monkeys, pray that I am doing the right thing and waiting until tomorrow.

JSM, it is a good sign that he's up to chasing a cat. If he weren't, and was just apathetic, then I would really worry.  Is there any possibility he ate something at school that disagreed with him?  I'm assuming he is never outside unless you're with him, so he wouldn't have caught and eaten anything, like a rodent....sorry if that's too graphic. 

Yes he is always with me, he ate some grass today at school and wouldn't take his treat from me. He did have a treat at school because he wouldn't go in his cage until he got his treat. In fact, when I got to daycare, the first thing the girl said was Joe didn't puke or have diarreah. So I thought that was a good thing. He is biting his butt right now.

Hi Monkeys. I'm back. Finally got out of the chit hole. Gotta a sick dog tonight. He has vomited twice tonight and isn't acting right. Won't eat, but was eating his ice. I am going to try and read back. I am pooped (no pun intended) 

Poor dog......did you or someone change his food?  Surely you didn't have to clean sewer water 'stuff'?

No the only thing that has changed is the rimadyl. No I didn't have to clean the sewer water, just get stuff up from off the floor (puters and such) that's why I was wearing the astronaut suit.

You are doing the right thing! Joe knows what he needs. He'll be fine, especially if he isn't lethargic. He'll be ok, really.

You are doing the right thing! Joe knows what he needs. He'll be fine, especially if he isn't lethargic. He'll be ok, really.

Exactly and I wouldn't give him any food, that is what we do when Zoe gets like that, he will feel better.

JSM I know how you worry about Joesf. Prayers headed your way. It's a hard call to take him or wait till morning.  Maybe just watch him tonight.  He will eat when he feels better. One night of not eating isn't going to hurt him. It's like when you get sick and don't feel like eating.  Question have you written Boo Monkey about it. She has much more experince than I do. Know if it was a cat I could help. Please keep us up dated.

Me too. I never have that problem. My problem is being able to stay up long enough to see skating.

Josef knows what he is doing as far as not eating. When Zoe gets her bouts she does not go near food nor water. When she feels better that is when she starts eating and drinking. I've been there so many times with Zoe, it isn't funny. If he is lively outside that is good, just watch him. 

Thanks No Rose, that makes me feel better. He will get up run outside to the balcony and I know that he is going to get sick. I am just not used to this, usually it is out the other end. I feel so sorry for him.

Thanks Greeneyes. I am getting worried. He did try and get the cat, so that is a good thing. I'm going to give him a belly rub and see if that helps. He won't get on the couch.

We have had this with Zoe out both ends, call the vet in the morning, it is most likely the medicine. When Zoe started her arthritis medicine she got sick also. But she gets this with the vomiting when she is upset, the irritable bowel gets worse when she is upset and nervous, just like with people.

One more thing I've noticed, when she gets sick she goes off by herself and doesn't want attention. Maybe that is what Josef is doing also. I hope he feels better in the morning  Good night everyone.

JSM A vet told me years ago when my dog was vomiting  that I shoud give him some Pepto Bismol.  I've used it for sick dogs ever since.  I use about a teaspoon for Charlie who weighs 45 pounds.  Just put it in a syringe without a needle or an eyedropper.  Squirt it in his mouth.  It usually helps.  But I do know also that if a dog vomits repeatedly, he can become dehydrated.  I will pray for Josef and hope he is better in the morning.  Usually my vet gives an antibiotic shot and pills for repeated vomiting and it doesn't cost much.  Must be more expensive in Dallas.  Anyway, I hope he's OK.  Somehow we've all become attached to Josef even though we don't know him.  We love him vicariously, I think.

Mind on Fire, if my head were ablaze, I probably couldn't sleep either.  Do you have a fire extinguisher handy?  Just kidding.  I know that not being able to sleep is the lonliest feeling. At around three AM you feel as if you are the only human being awake in the whole world.

Baby that is so sweet that you love him vicariously. I don't think I have any pepto bismol. He is asleep right now. He just went outside and peed a bunch, but didn't want to come inside. I had to drag him up the stairs. The emergency vet is very expensive and that is the clinic Josef goes to, but his regular vet won't do all kinds of stupid tests, etc than if I took him in tonight. If he chucks up again tonight, we are on our way to the vet. I swear we went through this during the last Olympics. He hates skating. Kiss Charlie for me.
