ANITA VAN DER SLOOT

Dear Anita

It is Mother's Day tomorrow.  It is a day set aside to celebrate Mothers.  However ... it is also an opportunity for all Mothers to reflect the past and anticipate the future of their children.

Please encourage Joran to do what is right.  It will not be easy.  There will be consequences.  However, there will also be lessons learned.  The future well-being of your son is in the balance.

Anita, there is another Mother whose hearfelt desires at this point in time is to know the truth and to bring her daughter home.  As the Mother of three children, can you not empathize.

Sincerely, Janet

I am amazed that the people who love or care for Joran do not yet see that he needs the help that can only be provided by him going to the authorities and telling the entire truth. Being rejected by society, labled as a criminal, all are taking a horrible toll on Joran that is going to fuel his addictions and push him further and further into a self destructive lifestyle. I would think his mother, and if he has a child, the mother of his child, would recognize Joran's needs, and see the benefit he would gain even from incarceration. Isn't an investment of five or so years worth a return of trhe rest of Joran's life? ....

It is very telling that Beth's life is getting brighter every day, considering her loss, yet Joran the boy who "got away with it" is descending deeper and deeper into a self convicted sentence of life without parole unless he confesses. He will never, never be able to move on from this without repentance. Corny, yes, self serving, yes I want him to tell the truth, but is it the absolute truth, the absolute gospel, yes. Surprise, no, it is as the Bible teaches.

Holloway: Physical, emotional health important

By David Owens, newseditor@laurelleadercall.com CNHI

LAUREL —

Women from across the area attended the 21st annual Women’s Life Conference Saturday on the campus of Jones County Junior College.

The event, which had to be postponed due to a storm last month, featured Beth Holloway as keynote speaker. Holloway is the mother of Natalee Holloway, who disappeared in Aruba in May 2005 during a high school trip.

Holloway said she was “honored and excited” to be at Jones County Junior College for the Women’s Life Conference.

“The conference theme is women’s health, physical, emotional and everything in between,” she said. “The last five years of my life have shown that health is important. When moving through a crisis or tragedy, you have to keep those (physical and emotional health) in balance. Physical affects the emotional and vice versa.”

Holloway said she intended to not only give the women in attendance tools to keep them safe, but also give them some inspiration to persevere.

“Hopefully, I can inspire them with hope,” she said. “It’s been a tough five years. It took a lot of hard work, but now I’m a lot better. I’ve been able to balance my health emotionally and physically.”

Holloway, who works with special needs children, said she has been able to return to a more normal lifestyle away from the media spotlight.

Following her daughter’s disappearance, Holloway said her “children, home and job” were all in a state of upheaval.

“I lost everything,” she said. “It’s been redefined with what I’m doing now. It’s an ever-evolving journey.”

Holloway, who has traveled the world to talk about personal safety, said she doesn’t know if she will ever get closure from her daughter’s case.

“That’s out of my capacity to control,” she said. “I have a sense of hope that the Arubian criminal justice system will prevail. That’s what I would like most to happen. I’m just staying the course and practicing travel safety.”

While invading her personal life, Holloway said the media would not be able to accomplish everything she has without them.

“Especially with young adults in high school, I feel I have lessons to share,” she said.

Karen Vanderslice of South Central Regional Medical Center, which sponsors the annual event, praised Holloway and the other women for rearranging their schedule.

“We’re so thankful for our sponsors and ladies that were able to come to this conference,” she said. “We have many women who are very, very loyal to this conference. We’re also thankful to the college for allowing us to hold the conference.

“We also appreciate our volunteers for their hard work,” Vanderslice added. “This couldn’t have been done without them.”

In addition to Holloway, the conference featured a number of health forums, an interactive health fair and other guest speakers.

Sponsors for the 2010 Women’s Life Conference included South Central Regional Medical Center, Jones County Junior College, Laurel Leader-Call, WDAM-TV, IMPACT, OncoLogics, Inc., Jones County Medical Supplies, Inc./Quinn Pharmacy, Jefferson Medical Associates, Laurel Bone & Joint Clinic, Medtronic, Inc., Regency Hospital of Hattiesburg, Pine Belt Country B 95, LifeGuard Medical Alerts, Jones County Medical Alliance, American Cancer Society and Clearview Recovery Center.

Melody has a message for some of us on her facebook:

Melody Granadillo  Sometimes things have a way of turning out, would YOU tell YOUR heart what to do? or would you stear it in the right direction instead...?? ... ScaMon people that one was for you... not nice to assummmeee.....! Wink

I have a message for Melody:

You have a beautiful daughter.  Happy Mother's Day.  an angelic monkey

P.S.  We will never stop seeking justice for Natalee.  Anyone that "hangs" with Joran will be scrutinized forever.

I've had lots of questions, but am not assuming anything!  That post of Melody's doesn't really answer any questions I have.

Yes, Melody does have a beautiful daughter, and I truly hope that she can be...all that she sees...in her daughter's eyes.

My first love still has a place in my heart.  But I thank God that he cheated on me and broke my heart so long ago...if he hadn't I would have married him and would have been put through the turmoil that the girl he did marry has gone through.  Once a cheater...always a cheater.

I can only imagine how much grief a cheater and sociopath could bring.

For Melody and her beautiful daughter's sake, I do hope she's steering her heart in the right direction.

And I hope she has a wonderful Mother's Day!  an angelic monkey

I thought about Beth yesterday and how Mother's Day must be so bittersweet.  I also thought about Melody and how easily we can rationalize away something we know is bad for us.

Remember your life can go from calm and serene, life with a bright loving daughter to:

The remains of the Royal Cabana Casino. Icahn Group, the new owner of The Aruban Resort and Casino is the gambling within one year to see reopened.

ORANGE CITY - Icahn Group, the new owner of The Aruban Resort is also the former Royal Cabana Casino reopen. The carcass of the Sasakiweg state almost two years to run down.

These renovations were started in 2007 by Gillman Group, but was never finished. This American investors had big plans for the casino back in 'old glory' to restore. They said then would pump 70 million U.S. dollars in Royal Cabana Casino. That never happened. Icahn Group has now promised within a period of one to three months to begin the renovation. Casino operator Tropicana Entertainment, which Icahn Group's main shareholder, appears to be the main candidate to have to manage the casino. Scott Butera, president of Tropicana, was last week with Vincent Intrieri, senior managing director of Icahn Group and their adviser, in Aruba. According Intrieri are other possible operators, however, still an option. This week a delegation from Icahn Group goes back to Aruba with precise calculations for the resumption of the reconstruction of the building.

Last week The Aruban Resort was auctioned for 35 million Florin is now definitively that the hotel remains open. The casino will end back into operation in June, said Minister of Tourism, Labour and Transport Otmar Oduber (AVP) on Friday during a joint press conference with the new owners. Icahn Group is looking for a new operator for the hotel. The casino opens in the building where, until recently, Key Largo Casino Sat The redundant workers of Key Largo are the first candidates there to go back to work, it was announced at the press conference.

The timeshare owners of The Aruban Resort seem pleased with the acquisition. Thursday during an auction Icahn Partners purchased the resort for 35 million florin. John Cole, chairman of the board of owners told the newspaper "good conversations" to have had with representatives of the Icahn Group. Cole said to have confidence that Icahn will make major investments in the hotel and its casino. That did the cooperative association of timeshare owners, moreover not through an interim order to attempt to open the 15,000 timeshare weeks are pulling. This was last Wednesday. The court dismissed the application by the timeshare owners however, a question.

Status Public Health alarming’

7 Mei, 2010, 11:45 (GMT -04:00)

Email dit artikel
Print dit artikel

ORANJESTAD — The status of the public health on Aruba is alarming. The cabinet concludes this in the draft budget of the Ministry of Public Health and Sports. An important reason regards the many years’ mismanagement by the government services of Public Health. This had led to amongst others ‘a near total undermining of the functioning’ of the Public Health Department.

There was a question of a non-functioning management, the Minister of Public Health and Sports, Richard Visser (AVP) wrote in the Explanatory Memorandum. They had not filled in vacancies, neglected relations and made no use of the internal expertise. “This had led to a close entirely undermining of the financial possibilities of the management. The sustained damage and arrears can certainly not be rectified on short term”, says the Minister. “One will therefore definitely have to reverse the approach of the public health.”

However, in which manner the Minster expects to tackle this, is not clear from the draft budget. The Advisory Council (RvA) also concluded such in its advice on this budgetary proposal. “Many projects and initiatives have been included, but one has omitted to concretely elaborate upon the implementation of those plans and the corresponding cost-benefit analysis. Therefore, the memorandum does not mention intentions and plans” according to the Council.

For example, in the budget one concludes that the General Medical Insurance (AZV) is in a crisis. However, the Ministry of Public Health does not offer any concrete solution for the deficits of AZV. The RvA also endorses that.

Absenteeism
The draft budget further mentions that the number of incapacity days had increased last year with 10 percent compared to 2008. However, the premium revenues had decreased. The cabinet expects the deficit to increase further this year. The cabinet is also concerned about the rising costs and the insufficient financing of the employees’ insurances. However, also this point is merely mentioned as a conclusion in the budgetary proposal of Public Health. In addition, it mentions that the use of narcotics is alarmingly high, to such an extent that this ‘puts the functioning of the economy and the society under pressure’. In spite of this, fewer additional funds are reserved in the draft budget to combat this problem.

Furthermore, the Public Health wants to start the obligatory labeling of food products this year. By this, the cabinet hopes to ‘realize a behavioral change in favor of more well-balanced nutrition’.

The total cost-analysis of the Ministry of Public Health and Sports is estimated at 202.6 million florins, which is more than 20 million florins less compared to last year’s budget. Public Health will be economizing 15 percent the coming year on goods and services. In addition, an amount of 145 million florins has been included as national contribution for the AZV. The budget further estimates 19.8 million (in round figures) for means. This is substantially less than the previous year when the government departed from nearly 40 million florins. For investments, the Ministry has reserved an amount of 500,000 florins, which is equal to that of last year.

Closer control on games of chance within short

7 Mei, 2010, 11:43 (GMT -04:00)

The establishment of the Aruba Gaming Control Board (AGCB), which is to control the casinos closer, amongst others, is not long in coming, according to the government.

ORANJESTAD — The Minister of Justice and Education, Arthur Dowers (AVP) has spoken with representatives of trade unions Seppa, Topa and SCCA on the establishment of the Aruba Gaming Control Board (AGCB). The meeting confirmed that an intensive control on games of chance is coming closer.

During the meeting, Dowers presented an advisory report from accountancy firm KPMG. The trade union representatives were given the opportunity to ask questions. It was the second time that Dowers had spoken with the trade unions, although this was the first meeting for Topa. Seppa and Topa are trade unions for government personnel and SCCA is the association supporting the interests of the casino controllers. Garrick Laclé, spokesperson of the Minister, said the meeting had gone well. “The trade unions appreciated the changes. However, they are concerned about certain matters that are currently undecided with their supporters, but they are pleased with the upcoming changes.”

SCCA-spokesperson Jose Giron clarified that casino controllers are mainly wondering to which extent their legal position will be affected. He states that this uncertainty will remain as long as there is no clear, concrete model on the table for AGCB. “We still don’t know what the implications of the changes will be for us. However, the Minister has promised us he will meet with us again soon and will provide more explanation then.”

Financial crime
The parliament will soon vote on the enactment for the establishment of AGCB. It is the intention that the new organization will operate according to the guidelines of the international organization Financial Action Task Force (FAFT). The latter is occupied with cross border financial crime. Laclé points out that the previous government had also intended to increase the supervision on casinos and games of change. However, the committee that had been set-up at that time had been dissolved under the current government, because Dowers could not agree with the intended direction of that committee. The committee had wanted to establish a foundation and manage it themselves. “Of course, that is not possible. As a member of such a foundation, one must have some knowledge in store”, says Laclé. The Minister wants to make preparations for the interpretation of AGCB within short. He is currently searching for a financial legal expert with knowledge of casino audits. In his search, he is using Curaçao as an example. “When they had established a similar organization, they deployed people from the Public Prosecutor and the Central Bank. The Minister considers this a good starting-point”, says Laclé.

"I can look back over the past 10 years and there were no steps wasted, and there are no regrets,'' she said. "I did all I knew to do and I think that gives me greater peace now." "I've lived every parent's worst nightmare and I'm the parent that nobody wants to be," she said.

Central Bank maintains reserve requirement

May 10, 2010, 15:19 (GMT -04:00)

ORANGE CITY - The Central Bank of Aruba (CBA) shows the 11 percent reserve requirement for banks being unchanged. This is partly due to the sluggish economic growth, reflected in the low number of loans being closed. Banks continue with this much money down.

In its forecasts for the short term CBA takes particular account of the future of the refinery. As of June 1 it becomes clear that the refinery will reopen or not. The Bank is looking at taking two scenarios. By reopening a CBA expects that gross domestic product (GDP) growing by 2.1 percent (actual growth). If the refinery in San Nicolas final closing doors, GDP falls by 2.5 percent, the Bank estimates.

With these two scenarios in the background inflation (12-month average trend) moderate to - 0.1 percent . This, while the risks to a substantial increase in prices in the near future, currently estimated to be low. The rising price of oil this hardly seems to affect. The Bank also states that the net foreign asset currently stable at 1.5 billion (rounded). Credit growth remains 'weak', because fewer people borrow. It will also temporarily remain under CBA.

The Bank beginning of this year increased the reserve requirement from 9.5 to 11 percent for the excess cash from banks to reduce. She also announced earlier this year certificates of deposit (CD) to want to spend. When that will happen is still unknown. This instrument CBA, as with the reserve requirements, affect the liquidity of banks in Aruba. A CD is a negotiable certificate with a short duration that the central bank to commercial banks can issue. Shrinks as the money supply in the financial market as banks buy certificates of deposits.

Janet...

Consider where Kyle's own words came from.

... You have been had, my dear and not by any of us who now post in Natalee threads here and at other forums.

Where do believe that Kyle Kingman's own words originated?

Either Kyle Kingman has revealed the truth regarding the furthering of the Aruban coverup by John Silvetti ... the Aruban coverup that has prevented justice from prevailing for Natalee Holloway since May 30, 2005 or ... Kyle is the grandfather of all liars.

I firmly believe that Kyle Kingman original intentions for posting on the Natalee's Freebird forum were honorable.  He knew that there was something very wrong regarding the happenings encompassing the trap/cage.  However ... at some point Kyle backtracked ... had second thoughts.  The motivation ... only Kyle knows.

The last posts are taken from the e-mail that Kyle sent to Jug and I in December ...

Some exerts:

Quote:
I had questions which were very unsettling about what I had observed during the search including the events surrounding the trap inspection by the Aruban divers and how the samples were handled by ALE - solely Richardson. This made me very uneasy. It was unsettling and I had no one to talk about it with. The Freebird forum was a place where I could safely discuss the unsettling aspects of the search and see if there were any connections. I only did so after the group agreed that nothing would leave the forum. I never wished for any of it to leave the forum.

Quote:
I didn't threaten any of them. I said that I personally didn't want to get sued for breaking a confidentiality agreement with information ending up on the Internet. Them pushing it all out put me at risk legally and jeopardized my relationship with John (which is now destroyed over this). Also, this information did not belong posted on the Internet in the first place. It was a huge naive misjudgement on my part to trust this group enough to share it in confidence.
