I went through the pictures and it looks like the Monster Madness Halloween Party was well attended and fun!  So many cute kids in costumes.      I really liked the young lady dressed in the green vintage hat, pearls, cardigan and glasses.  It's neat when a costume can be put together like that.  But on the other hand I was brought back in time to when my kids were little by the child with the blue Care Bear costume.  I think we still have the Care Bears in storage 25 years later.

That's great MB!  We had so much fun.  We had to break the party into two sessions because within a few hours of announcing it we had already neared capacity of our hall (225 people!).  I stuffed over 300 goody bags for the kids and gave just about all of them out.  Based on our RSVPs, we had well over 500 people between to two sessions.  After the two sessions were over, we sponsored a Trunk or Treat and had over 25 volunteers open their car trunks in our parking lot.  The line of kids waiting almost circled the building.  All of them were so darn cute.

Our Christmas Party is coming up fast--so we're back in planning mode.  I made a promise to this Little Angel--that I would never give up on her--and I won't.  I have a wonderful partner in all of this--without her I couldn't do this myself.  But there will be Justice for Nevaeh.  I've never been more certain about anything in my entire life.

Justice for Nevaeh launches its search for missing Summer Wyatt
by Paula Wethington
March 3, 2012

Volunteer search efforts ramped up this weekend in the investigation of a Bedford teenager who is believed to have run away from home about two weeks ago.
 ::snipping2::
Justice for Nevaeh is the non-profit organization that emerged in the aftermath of the disappearance and murder in 2009 of 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan of Monroe. Hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement were involved in the search for the girl until her body was found near the River Raisin a few days later.

While there has been no arrest in Nevaeh's case, Justice for Nevaeh has coordinated numerous reward poster canvassing events and also hosted children's parties and community events as part of its mission to help every child "enjoy a happy, safe childhood."

One of the projects that the committee has discussed was to use its experience in the Nevaeh case to assist in searches for other missing children. That's the decision that was made in Summer's case, and the search team call-out was made.

"We waited a little bit because this is a different case," Risa Smith, vice president and co-founder of Justice for Nevaeh, explained when the volunteers met.

Police Say They're Closer To Arrest In Nevaeh Killing
Posted by gotcha Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 5:03 PM
Labels: Nevaeh Buchanan

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said investigators are closer to arresting the person they believe is responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Nevaeh Buchanan, the 5-year-old girl who was snatched from an apartment complex three years ago.
#Although he did not use the word “suspect,” Sheriff Crutchfield said that the focus of the ongoing investigation has narrowed. In his most candid public comments since the incident, the sheriff said that the community is not in danger from the person or persons he believes may be involved with the crime. That may mean the killer, believed to be a local person, is in prison or that he or she is dead or disabled.

- Evening News photo by BRYAN BOSCH Sherry Buchanan holds a picture of her grand daughter Navaeh, taken the same school year Nevaeh was abducted and believed murdered three years ago. "I want answers," she said regarding the unsolved case, "and so does the community." It still bothers her to see children running through the neighborhoods and playing unsupervised. "Those kids are just as vulnerable. There is a bad person still out there."

#Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said investigators are closer to arresting the person they believe is responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Nevaeh Buchanan, the 5-year-old girl who was snatched from an apartment complex three years ago.

#“We have an eye on a person or persons,” the sheriff said. “We have significantly narrowed our focus.”

#Asked if an arrest is imminent, the sheriff said it is possible but he would not put a timetable on any actions related to the case. He said he is not surprised the investigation has taken years and has maintained that he is confident the case will be solved.

#“I would say absolutely we are closer,” he said. “The public is not in danger from this person or persons.”

The clock is ticking...  Justice will be served.  When that happens, my group, Justice for Nevaeh, will be throwing the biggest celebration party Monroe has ever seen.

Last night we held a Candle Light Vigil to honor the life and memory of Nevaeh.  It was very well attended, and the media attention it received was phenomenal.  We are so grateful that the media still care and covers these events.  Many thanks to all of them.

If you'd like to see some of stories, check out our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/jesstar.justicefornevaeh?ref=tn_tnmn

Finally, I'd like to thank all of the Veterans, past, present and future, for their service to our Country, especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
