I'm just being me, says Johnny Weir

VANCOUVER — His black corset with plunging neckline and pink tassels probably put him more in the spotlight in the men's figure skating short programme than his performance on the ice in Vancouver.

But Johnny Weir insists that he is just being faithful to himself.

The Lady Gaga of figure skating is nevertheless within striking distance of the podium after skating a clean short programme on Tuesday to put him sixth, eight points behind the leading trio headed by defending champion Yevgeny Plushenko.

"Every step of my life it's been one thing my parents had preached to my brother and I," explained former three-time US champion Weir.

"You must always be yourself and always enjoy what you are doing and take no prisoners. You can't care what anyone else thinks because really there is no basis for that in your life.

"You have to live your life for yourself. So even when I was little I was playing on a soccer team and running the complete opposite way pretending to be a zebra, an ostrich or something. So I have always been like this."

He needs to "pretend" to be a man until his skating career is over, then he can prance about in spangles and tassels and run around nekkid watching Housewives of Atlanta. He gives skating especially men's skating a bad name. I have always despised him and now he is making me hate him even more.  Monkey Devil!

Johnny Weir wants to write a figure skating tell-all. When can we pre-order?

Like a lot of people today, we’re in a Johnny Weir mood after last night’s men’s short programs. So what’s your greatest hit? We’re assuming you’ve found clips of his Sundance series Be Good Johnny Weir, and of him skating the program we’ll see in Thursday night’s free skate at Nationals, karaoking “Before He Cheats” and “Ain’t No Sunshine,” describing the process of designing a figure skating costume, and, yes it does happen, speaking seriously about why he’s still figure skating (“I think anything that makes someone feel beautiful in their life, they should do it”). All good. But did you watch this Ask the Athlete question on NBCOlympics.com? A fan wanted to know if he planned on writing an autobiography when he’s done with competitive skating. His answer: Absolutely. “I have so many stories. I’ve got so much dirt that I need to get out of me, and so many dealings behind the scenes in this sport, and how cutthroat it really is, and I’m excited to share all of that — while telling my own story and how I’ve intertwined myself through all of it and snaked through relatively unscathed compared to some people…. It’s such a small world that I compete in and that I live in, and sometimes it’s ridiculous, sometimes everyone hates you, sometimes everyone loves you. But in general, we all have one thing in common and it’s figure skating, and we all love it, for the most part, and it makes us some sick, twisted family and I want to tell that story.”

A lot of time people promise dirt and don’t deliver. We’d trust Weir to follow through. You?

"The Olympics just keep getting better! (Right, Dash?) There's news today that Venusian Spaceship Admiral/figure skater Johnny Weir wants to write a figure skating tell-all. "I've got so much dirt that I need to get out of me." Titillating."

Yeah, let him write a book. Figures is a cut throat sport, starting with people stealing your costumes, jacking with your skates, pervy coaches, etc. It is a story that has already been told, why does Johnny think he is the only skater that "knows the dirt"?

Can you tell Northern, I don't like him. He is classless. I don't care his sexual persuasion. Why flaunt it and make the sport look bad.

My favorite skater in the olden days never flaunted his sexual preference. Now he is a great coach and a great Canadian. Brian Orser is my MAN!!!

So - did anyone here watch Bill O'Riley tonight?  If you can catch it on replay notice the person that the Southern Poverty Law names as the most dangerous person - same name as my hubby (who, while dangerous in his own right is NOT the person they named)!
