Just a personal observation: I'm beginning to wonder if this trial will actually start on the announced date. JP will do his best to hold it there, but I'm not so sure anymore.

Most likely everyone (the defense) knows that and are just taking his word as idle threats.  I'm a firm believer in backing up your threats if you're going to speak them.

I say fine the def for lying about how long this would take and use that money to pay the overtime for the court staff.

I agree, but here is my issue- He knew for weeks that the costs were an issue, so I think that he gave the benefit of the doubt.

When Mason said yesterday that they only had 2 witnesses today, given the track record, come on...

He may be. He is just about the same height as KC and she is short. Someone said he wore lift shoes so if he does, I doubt he is 5 ft. tall.

I was already to make it a marathon.  Why would Judge Perry keep saying in open court that he would make them work nights and weekends, if he wasn't going to?  I think the defense should be in some kind of trouble for not estimating the time and witnesses right.  Will they ever be punished for anything?  I hope they get that connection fixed, that sound has given me a horrid headache.  I am glad to be done seeing Casey for the day, it really isn't good for my nerves.  I can't even remember a time in my life, I have ever felt like I do about Casey.  That said, can't wait for next Wed, I want justice for Caylee with all my heart.

Mason talked out of his BLEEP & he knew dang well they wouldnt be even close to done today.

I know this Chief Justice is doing everything to make sure she at least gets what is by legal standard considered a fair trial & avoiding appellate issues.   It is the only reason why I feel the gavel hasnt come down harder on quite a few issues.    I honestly admire how he can restrain himself from calling this defense team over sidebar and banging them over the head, literally.

Considering he has been involved since the beginning & in several capacities, I'm sure between himself & the walls of his chambers he too has very strong feelings that this case must go to trial & given the opportunity for a just verdict.

Needless to say, despite all that it isnt any less frustrating.

I think a few things, and I agree with you Turbo.

But moreover, I am flabbergasted we are getting this far, and seeing such a completely unqualified witness, the second one, aside from Dr. Fairgrieve.  The canine expert who has never handled one, or directly worked with one, in his life.

What I think folks not in this "space" need to understand, is that Judge Perry also has the obligation to "level the playing field", and we saw this today when he flat out asked this cat if was qualified as an expert.

For a chief Judge to ask that of your expert witness, who BY THE WAY the state is paying for, would send most of us into hiding, of embarrassment.

The disparity between legal teams has the potential in itself to "enflame" a sequestered jury, creating a prejudicial situation for the defendant all over again.

With much respect, somebody better be thinking about that as well, going forward.

Well, I agree but with a tad lesser time difference, I say approximately 2 weeks later than pre-scheduled due to housekeeping & pretrial motions.  That being said,  I think the voir dire alone (set to begin May 9th) is going to be rather lengthy process so combining that I would agree the case-in-chief will start no earlier than mid June.

Cindy Anthony told CBS's Maggie Rodriguez that the state is mistaken in assuming that Casey Anthony is the person who searched terms like "neck-breaking," "household weapons," and "how to make chloroform" on the Anthony family computer.

"I remember I looked up chlorophyll back in March of last year and I am not sure if I looked up chloroform as well," Cindy Anthony told prosecutors in a deposition.

Cindy was working when those searches were done as well. I believe LE verified that. There were no "chlorophyll" searches. She can lie all she wants. IIRC Cindy also stated she never used myspace or facebook until July 3, 2008.

A debate about what kind of scientific evidence will be allowed at Casey Anthony's trial developed into one of the most contentious courtroom battles yet in her murder case.

At one point this morning, Chief Judge Belvin Perry shouted at the attorneys, something he never does. "Just a second," he yelled. "Everyone be quiet."

Tension escalated today between defense attorney Jose Baez and Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton, prompting Perry to threaten to fine them if the battle continues.

He said to both Ashton and Baez that if their bickering and nasty comments and disrespect continues this afternoon, he will have them pay $100 each as a penalty.

"You're supposed to be seasoned lawyers," Perry said. "I look for a certain level of professionalism. I've had enough of the back and forth between the two of you."

We can't forget Baez saying he would file a motion to ask for an extension once the jury location was announced, so that he could do his own investigation of the chosen area. Which of course he has already done that some time ago and I'm sure not enough has changed in that time to make any difference. But he's going to do it.....hopefully CJBP will deny him on the spot, citing the same reason I just stated.  moo

Perry's last straw was when defense attorney Baez called the chloroform level that a prosecution expert found in Casey's trunk "crazy" then interrupted Ashton's objection.

"Be prepared to pull out $100 the next time the two of you start talking to each other," Perry said.

Perry agreed that Baez was trying to ambush the prosecution by trying to introduce brand new evidence.

Sheaffer even saw defense attorney Cheney Mason make a vulgar gesture toward the prosecutor with his arms.

"I've not seen anything like this in the 33, 35 years that I've been practicing law," Sheaffer said. "The judge will either stop it or bankrupt them, one of the two."

At about 5:00pm, Judge Perry recessed the court until Wednesday at 9:00am.

Overtime costs prevented Perry from continuing on Saturday. The courts are running out of money.

Friday's last defense witness has such a weak connection to the hearing issues that Perry might discount his testimony altogether, but he'll take the stand again on Wednesday and the hearing could go into Friday if necessary.

So, no court tomorrow?  What happened to working on Saturday?

Furton claims he is one of the early researchers into odor signatures of remains and there is vast disagreement in the field as to the science.  Talks about a comparison chart he put together of the articles….

Oh, Ashton says they have a discovery violation and they are up to the bench and the Judge calls a 5 minute recess!

Ashton says the witness is trying to testify about exhibits and opinions that don’t conform with the court order, so they were trying to sneak in new information from Furton!  Judge Perry not happy at all!

Baez says Furton testified about compounds and he didn’t know all so he went back and studied for today – he did his homework!  Asks how the witness is supposed to know what questions he will be asked at deposition!

Ashton says this is clearly willful and an ambush!

Ashton asks what additional research he did after deposition.  We go back to the comparison chart which turns out to be part of a student dissertation.

Furton answers a question that is not what Aston asks and Ashton gets testy with the witness.

Furton admits he did additional work after the deposition and no, he did not reveal that in the deposition.

Furton keeps claiming Ashton never asked the question.  Furton says he was aware his student was writing the paper, but it wasn’t complete so that’s why it was not mentioned at depo.

Furton thinks he told the defense about the paper sometime this March.

Judge Perry has heard enough.  Perry says he gave a different answer in the deposition, but it does not change his opinion and may indicate impeachment.

Baez now admits he did not show the chart to the State and they are withdrawing it.

Judge Perry says he doesn’t know what the witnesses opinion is based on – sound foundation or shaky foundation.

Baez nailed for being in violation with the chart!

Well looks like the defense got caught with their pants down again!

I so appreciate all the comments and screen caps from today's hearing.

It sounds like it was a humdinger of a hot mess.

At first thought tonight after reading all this I am so very, very sad for Caylee Marie.  The disrespect that the defense team is showing her through their antics at these hearings..and even in their lack of preparation.   I don't want them to forget they are defending a woman who murdered her own child in coldblood out of some unresolved anger issues towards her own life and family..a woman who obviously is loving this attention and can been seen smiling and laughing in court..how dare she..how dare her defense team have no sanctity and respect for another human life.

If the defense, the A's and Casey keep up this circus act and keep laughing, joking, making rude gestures, etc they have sealed the deal for their client. It really won't matter what they are testifying to , or whom they have testify..once the jury sees their lack of respect for the court, the State, other witnesses..and most of all the human life of little Caylee Marie....well that will be the end for Casey.  No juror in their right mind is going to feel any differently then any other normal human being..people with any respect for the law, others and life do not act like imbeciles when the DP is on the table and the truth of what happened to this child is revealed.

Just an aside observation..I think that Cindy acted a little more nervous today then usual.  Casey acts more bizarre and nervous now then she has before in court...the sweater stretching over the hands, the tight little movements of the hands and fingers, the angry faces, the manic faces ..the out and out laughing..her tells are showing..the girl is getting scared.  I think by the trial she will be almost uncontrollable and they will have to sedate her to drag her in the door....I think her face and body will be broken out in hives and acne..it will be her emotions manifested through her body.  I am sure she is starting to feel the heat..yet the total disrespect remains..no remorse.

Judge Perry, I can't decide whether to be upset with him that he would let this mess continue or whether to be happy that he is giving Baez, et al, all the rope they need because it sure is showing up what a mess this trial is going to be.

I'm beginning to be concerned that Judge Perry might not be able to control this 3-ring circus during trial.....please...do tell me I don't need to think that way!

I hope Judge Perry puts out written, strong rules of conduct for the actual trial....and makes them stick!

Once again, Casey’s mother Cindy was on the stand to testify, and the prosecution is saying Cindy is changing her story.

Cindy testified that she left Casey's white Pontiac Sunfire in the garage for hours with the windows down, trying to air out the smell in the car.

She originally said the car smelled like a dead body, but then changed her story to that it was actually rotting pizza.

Cindy testified that she sprayed an entire can of Febreeze in order to get rid of the smell.

She also said that she put several "dryer sheets" in the car to eliminate the odor.

But the state pointed out that she changed her story from an earlier deposition.

Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton: If you in fact said in your deposition that you did not in fact put dryer sheets at least in the backseat of the car. Can you explain why you’re testifying today that you did put those items in the car?

Cindy: Because I remembered that I did. You know this was very traumatic for me and is still very traumatic for me. I get bits of pieces that come back to me in my memory."

As Cindy left the stand, we saw one of the first smiles from Casey as she mouthed a message to her mother.

A woman who is behaving abnormally in the back row was just ejected after falling asleep. By "abnormally," I mean she showed up with a Star Wars action figure or some such similar thing, which she placed beside her in the seat.... before nodding off. She also pulled out a pack of cigarettes during the break, and was reminded before she could fire it up that she could not smoke in the courtroom. Oh, yeah, she also sucked on a plastic spoon for a spell, apparently to satisfy the oral fixation being deprived by the no-smoking rule. Is that abnormal enough?

The fact that ANYONE chooses the death of a beautiful toddler named Caylee to find their 15 minutes makes me sick.

Unfortunately ... it wasn't only strangers trying to get their 15 minutes ... the family was too IMO!  And once this trial is over ... everyone will be being PAID for their 15 minutes (AKA Caylee's Murder) ...  I would like to wish that no one will watch/read ... but we've all been monkeys long enough to know that won't happen.  The vultures will make their money.  Fleas all around!

I totally understand this from HHJBP.  Here is the big but...BUT, how many times can your turn your cheek when a DT member constantly lies, changes words you have said, and smirks and laughs, along with the defendant, and her family, as if they are telling jokes and having a grand old time.  These antics are all done at the expense of one little innocent murdered baby.  They are laughing and snickering in her face and there would be nothing that would move me closer to arguing with someone than this.  (At least arguing and I am not a violent person by the wildest stretch).

Shame on this family, shame on these attorneys, for making a joke out of the death of a baby, an innocent.

(OMG!  I cannot believe I said 'shame on'....  I am channeling my Grandmother).  My Grandmother probably has her arms wrapped around Caylee and is coddling her, loving her, playing house and games with her, coloring with her, teaching her God made all of us equal, instilling values in her, laughing with her--never at another's expense, making popcorn with her, and singing 'lala' to her (guaranteed to calm any baby/child in the neighborhood--yes, neighbors would bring their crying babies to her when they could not get them to go to sleep).  Guaranteed there is a line of cherubs waiting for her to 'sing lala to me, Nan!'  She is a REAL Grandmother.  Thanks, Nan, for providing me with those words and those memories.  The only problem is, you never taught me what do you do when you run into people who have no shame.  Please take care of Caylee for us, she needs some real Grandmom time and lovin' from a real Grandmom.  Love you!

Compare this to Cindy who is a grandmother, too.  Makes me cry.  Makes you appreciate what you have/had.  My Grandfather took lots of pictures, too.  He always talked to us when he was setting up the shot and taking the picture, and he was a professional.  Everything was done with love.  We were not objects and were not ignored.  I can see, comparing grandparents (and I know there are no 2 people who do things the same), what went wrong and seeing how early the hatred, meanness, abuse, and ignoring of the child, Caylee, and paying attention to the 'object' that was Caylee.  So very sad, it breaks my heart.  Sing 'lala' to her, Nan!

I admire that HHJBP is also an advocate, he doesn't just talk the talk (or yell the yell, or hammer the hammer).  He appears to be a tireless advocate for justice.

Aw Bearly!  I was not fortunate enough to know any of my grandparents, but know what kind of grandparents my parents are/were ... and know what kind of grandparent I would/will be.  And it isn't anything like the Anthonys!  I'm of course sad that Caylee's life was cut so short ... but the thing that makes me more sad than that ... is that not one person in her immediate family cares enough to take a stand for her.  That's not just sad ... it's tragic ... and disgusting!  It's like ... If bozo is allowed to ask stupid questions of all the witnesses in the trial it could last for six months. The good thing is he does not realize when he has made a point and then discredits his witness by asking more stupid questions. I loved that part.

I noticed another case where it appears the use of eyeglasses was part of the defense imo.  The images are of Laura Hall, and it concerned the murder case of Jennifer Cave.  When Laura Hall was first arrested, no glasses.  Glasses only worn a short time.  After trial, no glasses.  Notice how similarity of shape/size/color of the eyeglasses worn by Laura Hall and Casey Anthony.  Also, notice the hair put up in a bun.  JMHO

I am so glad you did. I am begining to worry and wonder if caylee will get justice after all and will this trial be like the hearings. judge perry growls alot and threatens but never bites and I am worried that he is giving the defense to much room to wiggle in. I dont like that he says you guys everytime baez does something wrong. its like since mason did that motion that he was biased everything has changed to enable the defense. its not fair to the prosecution that always comes to court prepared and baez never comes prepared and never brings copies of anything !! he is so disorganized and is so preoccupied with drinking bulls all day long. the prosecution works hard and is on top of their game and yet the judge says you guys when it should be baez only!!!

I agree with you guys, loca, Scatty and Curley.  I think it is most unfair for the judge to chastise Mr. Ashton as if he had done something ridiculous when it is Baez who is the ridiculous one. Mr. Ashton is always prepared, sites case law, and has studied the subjects about which he is questioning these witnesses.  It seems that he is prepared almost to the point that he could perform the scientific experiments himself.  He is really impressive and doesn't deserve the treatment he is receiving from the judge.

I also have serious concerns about Judge Perry's threats never being carried out despite repeated violations by Baez.  The judge knew about the financial problems.  In fact, he had gone to Tallahassee very recently to discuss that very subject, so he knew when he threatened a Saturday session what the situation was vis a' vis expenses of keeping the court in session on Saturday.  Yet, he suddenly became concerned about paying time and a half to the court employees, when he knew it all the time.

I believe that in life if you threaten something if such and such happens, you should follow through.  This goes for parents as well as judges.  Because if you don't, no one will believe you.  And I am at that point with Judge Perry.  Not that it matters how I feel in the grand scheme of things, but I am fast losing respect for him.

I too am loosing condfidence in the judge and his integrity to do what is fair. The state does not deserve this treatment and I hope alot of people have already written to the judge which I am sure they have !! I didnt but am sure there are many in his own state that will feel the same and voice their concern. I felt bad for the state! they work so hard only to be compared by the judge saying yall because he hasnt got the cojones to say it straight to bozo. I am begining to think the judge fears mason and the judge isnt all he portrays to be.

When you go back and reread all the shady stuff it has happened in this case, it's really scary! How JB gets to practice law is beyond me!

I waiver between losing confidence in him and trying to believe he is giving them enough rope to finally hang themselves. I do know that motion hearings are a LOT less formal than a trial. There is a lot of leeway for attorneys in them, but I feel that Aston has had some serious objections which JP has not sustained when he should have under case law. I can understand why Ashton got a little hot in the last one as he knew and quoted the case law but the judge let bozo go on anyway.

I am still perplexed over JP saying he would not let the witness testify in the trial but he has allowed bozo to waste HOURS on his testimony. All these hours bozo goes on with his tangents are adding up to serious money for the state to pay. If JP is really worried about the taxpayers, he should have stopped that when he ruled the witness would not be allowed to testify in the trial.

Yes, I do remember it. I could not believe that Mason with all the experience he claimed did not know that a bondsman could call in a bond at anytime with or without a specific reason. How could he have had all these clients he claims who would have had bonds and never have read a bonding agreement. They are very specific that there does not have to be any reason for them to suspend their agreement if they consider their position in jeopardy. All they have to do is go before a judge in this state and ask for the bond to be revoked.

Won't that just chap Cindy's butt!  lol

Baez asked Vincent about a day that Anthony's car was inspected at the Sheriff's Office garage. Vincent explained that the garage door was opened sometimes and closed other times.

Baez asked Vincent if he saw the media outside.

"Not until after we opened the door. I didn't know the media was out there. I thought everybody was still back at the house," Vincent said.

Baez asked Vincent if he was aware someone from the Sheriff's Office called a TV station and told them the car would be processed. Vincent said no.

Baez asked Vincent whether he knew who contacted the media. Vincent again said no.

"And did it ever come down from anyone to leave the door open so that the media could see?" Baez asked.

My personal opinion on what JBP is doing is this.

He denies almost every single motion because he has to pretty much.  Bozo has no real case law, just complains and points fingers, but the state is thorough and puts in applicable case law, etc.  So, JBP has to deny almost every single motion because they are not sound motions.

So, he is giving in to things in the courtroom now, because otherwise, as an outsider, he does look biased to the state's side.  If I didn't know what a bozo Bozo was, I would think that the judge is extremely partial to the state.  If almost every motion is denied for the duffense, it looks like he is partial.  So, the little victories they get in the courtroom now, is to keep his partiality in check.

Now, I do not think he should be threatening stuff such as fines or working on weekends, unless he is going to do it, and that is starting to piss me off.  The more Bozo gets away with, Bozo tries to do more.  We all know the story of the Boy who cried wolf, it is becoming comical.  JBP says something, we all hope it will happen, he either never mentions it again or says something keeps him from doing it, or he allows deals to be made by the defense and state to stop things from happening, like the whole contempt thing. 

However, last week, I think JBP was talking to both sides.  Bozo is a putz and that goes without saying, but Ashton was not acting professionally at all, and it showed.  Ashton was right, and had every right to be upset, but he has to collect himself and keep all that in for after he gets his conviction for little Caylee.  He has to be above Bozo and try this case with class and dignity, which was not afforded to her in her death, which will not happen if it continues where these 2 lawyers are at each others throats all the  time.   He needs to, as I tell my kids when they are nervous about something, to think of Bozo in like his kini, then the fuming should abate some. 

Who cares Bozo Putz?  Isn't your job to defend your client?  How is finding out who leaked what defending your client?  I cannot believe he would waste time asking questions like that. 

It is going to annoy the jurors biggtime.

If any entity is releasing info to the press it's the duhfense and the Anthonys.
They want to sit in on the the media meetings with the court?
How about getting back to finding a way to save your client from the DP?

Well, another week! I wonder what this one will hold and what antics Baez will be up to? I can't help but wonder if Baez was so concerned about the media's ability to take pictures of the car interior because he was afraid something incriminating might show up in pictures that had been overlooked! Personally, I think he's just looking for a reason to pin the nervous paranoia on, other than the fact he knows he's a loser in a loser's case and he's in way over his head! 

Only the Defense could leak info about their own motions Before they were filed with the court.

How stupid does Baez think we are..if it hasn't been filed with the court yet, then the prosecution doesn't have it, the clerk of courts doesn't have it....that only leaves someone working with the defense that could have it to leak.

"Better now than at the trial" is indeed a fair statement, Curly.  However why should it be allowed at all?  It isn't a matter of it must happen at one event or the other so it's better at the pre-trial hearings.   It shouldn't occur at any time.  When one sees Baez bobbing and weaving to obstruct the camera and then sticking out his tongue at someone, apparently the cameraman, one can only wonder why it is allowed at all. Is that better?  These hearings are serious business, concerning a child who was murdered.  It is not appropriate that Judge Perry allow this behaviour at the pre-trial hearings or at the trial itself or anywhere else in his presence as a matter of fact, or at least IMO.

If Jeff Ashton acted inappropriately, then of course the judge should reprimand him.  My objection was that Judge Perry reprimanded both Mr. Ashton and Baez on the occasions when it was Baez who was trying to ambush the state among other things, and not Mr. Ashton.  I felt it was unfair, and I still think it was unfair.  There is nothing which requires the judge to reprimand both parties when only one is at fault.

Mothers Who Kill, Part 1: Casey Anthony: Understanding Deception


What went through the mind Casey Anthony as she walked down the hallway at Universal studio, accompanied by detectives, towards an office that she claimed was hers, though she did not work there, nor anywhere?

For Casey Anthony, there was a reliance upon her own ability to, even at the last minute, get herself out of a jam with deceit.  "I'll think of something..." as she walked to the end of the hall where finally the gig would be up; or so it would appear.

You know, I keep looking at JBP and wondered why his one eye looked funny or sank lower than the other one.  I had no idea of this: 

Perry cocks his head slightly to the right and scans the courtroom to see if anyone else has anything impertinent to say. The slight adjustment gives him an air of contemplation, but it is born of necessity. The judge only has one good eye.

He was 6 years old when he lost his right one. He and a friend were swordfighting with butcher knives, pretending to be Robin Hood. Perry zigged when he should have zagged, and the knife went into his right eye. Today, his eyelid rests low over a prosthesis, giving him a perpetually sleepy look.

I am not sure an email would really do anything anyway.  Apparently, he is Chief Judge for a reason and what he does he feels is right.

I am sure he is weighing his discipline carefully and does not want to single anybody out, or he could look like a bully.

Like his bias motion, he would probably just delete any emails questioning whether he should have yelled at Ashton too, or just Bozo.

That is why JBP is letting these 'experts' testify and saying they will not be able to at trial.  He knows Baez and Mason are not competent.  He needs to give Casey a fair trial, regardless.  He has turned himself inside out to see if these witnesses really have anything.  He is dedicated to seeing both sides, and he says this in the media.  He can't see both sides if Baez and Mason won't present the other side.

 

Casey does not know enough to protect herself, she chose Baez, imo, as another thumb of the nose at Cindy.  What Casey does not realize, in her ignorance, is that her mother is still controlling her life.  If you make decisions based upon another (Casey said Cindy has issues with other races), even if you choose the opposite of what they would choose each time, you are allowing them to control your life.  She is still dependent upon Cindy.  If she was standing on her own two feet, she would make the best decision she could, regardless of what Cindy would say or think.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The judge in the Casey Anthony case on Monday issued a proposed list of TV channels that the sequestered jury would be able to watch during the upcoming murder trial.

The list includes 23 channels, including Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, TNT and USA Network.

The state has filed an objection to Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network but may withdraw the objection if it can see the programing schedule for the channels for the months of May, June and July.

I am glad the State is objecting..however I would have thought the defense would have jumped on this since I think these are the channels that had segments on Casey about mother's that kill, women that kill.

I suppose since the defense didn't jump on it the State had too..another example of trying to keep things on the up and up..despite Jose's attempts to throw this into a mistrial at some point..or  grounds for appeal because he and Mason can't bring the goods to the table to make an adequate defense.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's attorneys don't agree with Judge Belvin Perry's judicial taste in television.

Perry released a list of 20 channels that jurors in the May murder trial would be allowed to watch. Anthony's defense team said in a new filing it objects to two of them -- Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network.

Anthony's lawyers said they don't have a listing of what programming those networks will offer during the trial.

Neither side wants jurors to be exposed to coverage of the proceedings for fear that it could cause a mistrial.

We all know how childish Baez is. The first rule in parental discipline is do not make a threat if you are not capable of carrying it out. To do so renders you weak and inconsistent in the eyes of the child. Baez has continually broken the rules with little consequence from the judge. He will continue to do so as long as it works for him. It is sad when it appears that the rebellious little Bully Baez gets away with his antics. It is beyond sad when the prosecution is called out for the misdeeds  of the defense. Who is Curtis Jackson?

I will take Simms - She seems to be focused and well organized which with all the insanity and lack of professionalism by bozo would make someone like her nuts.  It could also be the older attorney who called bozo out of the court room when he was snarling. Anyone with professional demeanor would find his actions appalling.

I checked the site at 5:45....only the notice/brief of stepping down were there.   Several minutes later, the rest of the info was there.  Yep, we will have to wait until tomorrow.  Wonder how many press members will be sitting outside the door to get this scoop?   Unless of course, it was leaked by the defense.....

I forgot about the Mason prostate cancer thingy ... and all those DP attorneys ... who are surely turning tail to run after those 'Frey Hearings" ... yep, those ones that aren't finished .. yet Byass has already been called on the carpet ... and one "expert" is still "testifying" after HHBP has announced he wouldn't be allowed if this was the trial!   ::MonkeyGavel::

Whoever it is ... I will bet it's not Byass ... unless HHBP or the prosecutors can make him?!! ... They can't can they?  At this point only KC can do that right?  And she's never been the brightest crayon in the box!

I'm in half for Simms ... but she just seems so much like the crayon next to KC .. (no wonder she joined this team)!  And I'm in half for Finnell (sp?) because she had to pull Byass out of the crevasse he dived into ... and I think that was an eye opening experience for her.

That said, i'd like to put all my money on Mason ... as I truly think dementia or some kind of "old-timers" has set in.  And it's sad to watch.  His actions (and words toward KB have convinced me that the man is "off his game". 

Would Mason actually be allowed to step down (except if he was really very ill)
because as we all know, he's there only bec. of his DP qualification.

If it's Mason due to "health" reasons Baez will probably be sure to tip off somebody....aw gee..we had to  but we want him to get well,,guess there will be a delay, blah, blah BUT if it's anyone else probably no leak

In 2001, Corporal Yuri Melich's desire to learn as much as he could by working a wider variety of criminal cases inspired him to transfer from a small Florida police department to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, a department made up of over 1500 deputies. He has since investigated cases in the Homicide and Missing Persons units, and for six years he helped with the Emergency Response Team, a task force that oversees searches as well as maintaining public safety after natural disasters. While working in Homicide, Corporal Melich was lead detective on over 21 criminal investigations, and he developed valuable contacts with the community who continue to assist solving cases today. In 2007, Yuri was assigned three separate homicide cases within a 12 hour time span, and he was awarded Sheriff's Certificate for successfully closing all three within two weeks. One case centered on an execution shooting with no witnesses which Corporal Melich was able to tie to two earlier killings; solving both serial shooting cases through in-depth investigation and monitoring phone calls and jail correspondences. As Yuri explains, he's most proud of the work he did as a homicide detective, because he was able to apprehend someone who has taken a life and that making a difference like that is one of the "greatest feelings in the world." In 2008, Yuri was working with the Missing Persons unit when he was assigned to investigate the disappearance of a toddler. When her body was later located Yuri took over the years-long homicide investigation and was instrumental in identifying the accused killer who is headed to trial this May. Someone tell me I'm wrong ... but whoever (whomever?  I always screw that up!) it is - can be cause for trial delay right? ... Which we all know is what Byass and Co have been looking for ... since they have no defense as yet ... and IMO have found that what little defense they had ... has been obliterated at the recent hearings.  And apparently they have either been unwilling or unable to get KC to plead ...

Online court records show a motion for withdrawal of "appointed counsel" in the Casey Anthony case, but it was not clear late Monday who that attorney might be.

The motion was filed late Monday and sources familiar with the case could not say to whom the motion referred.

Casey Anthony's legal team has lost a series of private attorneys through the years, but it was not immediately clear from the online docket entry who "appointed counsel" might be.

One source suggested it might be an assistant public defender initially appointed to represent Casey Anthony in July 2008 before she retained Jose Baez, but another source said late Monday that the Public Defender's office pulled out of the case long ago.
