Convicted sex offender seeks access to women’s locker rooms through bathroom law

The battle over the Washington bathroom rule repeal just got a whole lot more interesting.  

Transgender activists have sounded off in recent weeks claiming that they are being unfairly characterized by those concerned about locker room privacy and safety following the launch of the Just Want Privacy campaign.  Proponents of repealing the open bathroom rule have repeatedly said that their concern is not that the transgender community is going to harm women and children, but that it creates opportunity for those who would seek access to places they don’t belong.

Seattle-based transgender rights activist Johanna Wolf has been among the most vitriolic in her responses to privacy activists, claiming that it’s only their “hatred” and “bigotry” that is trying to keep her and others out of the locker rooms and showers.

Recently we have discovered that Johanna used to be a man, Jonathan Adrian Wolf, who is a sex-offender convicted of raping a 20-year old deaf girl in Nebraska in 2006.

Why is this relevant?

Because a sex-offender is now seeking access to a woman’s locker room through this open bathroom policy.

Wolf, now identifying as a woman (view the name change document here), appears to be shocked and offended that people in Washington want to take away “her” rights to use the locker room and shower of “her” choice (caution: strong language):

New York City first municipality to launch citywide campaign on bathroom use and gender identity
 
Ads will appear in subway cars, bus shelters, phone booths, NYC TV, ethnic and community newspapers, and on social media
The campaign, which kicks off LGBTQ Pride Month, includes ads and videos featuring transgender New Yorkers and instructs readers to “look past pink and blue” and to “use the restroom consistent with who you are.” The ads will appear in subway cars, bus shelters, phone booths, ethnic and community newspapers, and in ads in digital publications and across social media in English and Spanish.

Ethnic newspaper ads will appear in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian and Bengali. Later this month, the Commission will release two digital videos, also featuring transgender New Yorkers, as part of the campaign affirming the bathroom access rights of transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers.

NYC to allow men in women’s bathrooms

Welcome to New York, where restaurant owners will no longer be allowed to require male diners to wear ties and gyms can’t tell men to get out of the women’s locker room or bathroom.

They’re even trying to control business owners and employees’ free speech. Violators that call a woman “Ma’am” when she prefers “Sir,” could face up to $250,000 in fines per violation.

His logic, in context of discussing the corporate policy switch at Target to open all bathroom doors to both sexes, depending on their gender selections for the day, was blunt: In a nation run by laws, such choice would actually be regarded as criminal.

“It is still a crime for a man to purposely go into a women’s bathroom around women, teens and little girls and use those facilities,” Gallups said. “It is still a criminal offense for a boy or man to go into a girl’s shower or locker room and to expose himself in front of them. People are in jail or prison for such criminal acts.”
