It got me curious (Dolce - I just "wikied" it!). Actually, "Monkey Wards" was the very FIRST "mail order catalog" -- back to 1872! Sears was next (which became the largest) and JC Penney actually started in about 1912!

Thank you all for the welcome.  I have always been a news-mystery buff, but this case has really sucked me in!

I think she called on the 27th.  She had her nail done some time after that while TL was in New York.

Thanks, Dottie!

Shower curtain is not a bad guess at all.  This is just maddening.  Just think how frustrated detectives must get trying to piece all of this together.  But they know more than we do.  Maybe we can come back here when the facts come out and see if anyone guessed correctly.

I dunno ... I would think trying to dispose of a body in a shower curtain would be a bad idea ... I would think that it would cover the body too well from the elements and slow down the decomp process ... assuming she would think that far ahead ... Besides ... I think a shower curtain could have been purchased cheaper on "Amy's dime" from Target ....
Good point and with that arguement you could cancel out luggage, the rug doctor, and a rug.

So the question would be what does JCP have that Target does not?

The animal print luggage already owned?

Still reading several pages back but wanted to throw this is in the mix...

JC Penney's generally have a hair salon in their store plus they do manicures in some.  When did she call JCP?  They do walk-ins or you can get an appt.
Sorry I put this on the wrong post. I think she called on the 27th and she had her nails done after that while TL was in New York.

Klaas, this is sorta kinda off topic but not totally.  Does Dana have a set day of the week he does broadcasts and are there any other programs on SM Radio?  He does a great program!

Normally Dana broadcasts at 9pm ET on Friday and Sunday nights.  There are no other programs at this time on SM Radio but hopefully there will be more in the future.  Dana is great, I love his show.  Sometimes (like this last week) Dana needs to make changes to his normal broadcasting date but the general rule is Friday and Sunday.

   Welcome new monkeys!

I'm leaving the keyboard for the night.  I seldom treat myself to a first run, hard cover book but I did about the time this case broke and if I don't read it soon, it's going to be out in paperback!

See ya'll in the morning.

I feel very strongly that the searchers need to look for that large size jaguar /animal print suitcase. It would be likely that someone would purchase at least several various sizes to make a "set" of luggage. With the leopard print case with pink interior having been retrieved from Tony's by Lee and containing Casey's neatly folded clothes it makes sense there would be other sizes. Such a print would provide good camoflage in a wooded area, as I think it would have been to large for Casey to bury. That particular item was recognized by Cindy immediately when looking at the JCPenny receipt, and likely accounted for Casey's call to the store to check availability of item.

Very likely bb....

I looked it up and I have to say that I agree with you completely. I think it's very likely that she used a matching piece of luggage not realizing that LE is smart enough to figure it out... sort of like how she didn't think they were smart enough to realize that she didn't have a job, or that ZG was not her babysitter, etc.

Hey Monkeys
Im trying to get caught up
Has anyone figured out why???

Her bail bondsman deposited $51.26 into her jail account Tuesday.
Why the weird amount??

Cuz stuff costs weird amounts in the commissary.  Like 1.32 for a q-tip
I think Baez asked her if she had money for the commissary.  Her reply was "OMG, what a waste...asking my parents to give me $ to live comfortably and they only gave me $50.00"!  "How am I going to get by"?

Good morning, Monkeys!  Sitting here thumbing through my JC Penney's catalog trying to think what Casey may have ordered.  So far I've got: lamp (blunt trauma); fireplace set-poker, shovel, etc (blunt trauma); new mattress (don't want to consider this); pots & pans (blunt trauma); knives; shower curtain; rug; bedspread; luggage; and carpet cleaner.  There were no weights of any kind and nothing camouflage in the catalog.  Don't know if this helps or not.

And I'm wondering if she called Penney's to get the latest catalog.  She knew she'd be caught sooner or later and she could use the catalog in her free time and for other uses... (going back in time-remember old uses for catalogs)!   Sorry, just had to lighten things up here!  Back to topic...

Think she could have bought a special outfit for Caylee?  That would be somewhat suspicious to me.

I also want to say that IMO, this case is so interesting because of Casey's compulsion to lie about things that LE would so obviously find out. I wouldn't want to crawl inside her head for a minute. But I'm so curious to see how this all turns out because it seems more twisted than a crime novel! I guess truth can be stranger than fiction.

I also don't understand why Biez would continue on the "babysitter" or "ZG" kick because the whole reason she would need a babysitter turned out to be a HUGE lie - NO job means NO reason to have a babysitter!! And I don't, for one minute, believe he has ANYTHING to tell us that would make us say, "Oh, I understand now." If there was any reason based in FACT for the way Casey's acted, then we'd know about it now so he could counter all the negative public feelings toward her.

This is all my opinion and it seems like everyone's heading to bed. Thanks for letting me vent so I can sleep! It's like reading book one of a cliffhanger and waiting for book two!! 'Night.
