I agree the chances of finding her alive are slim, but that still leaves a chance it could happen.

Yes, unless  we are told otherwise, I'm holding onto hope she will be found.

Do you think the thing that's missing with her could be a doll or a stuff animal, Both my grand babies have something they cling to each night and never let them out of their sight, and maybe the police aren't saying in case, Wish we knew cause if it was it would have to be someone that knew her took her cause only people close would know of a favorite toy. And by the way who is saying something else is missing?

Blink do you know if Cobra is off the case, or if he left for awhile and is coming back. Thanks
I heard he was hanging tough at the moment, AND the locals want him there? They really want her found, and they really want the media to GO AWAY. The feel these peeps are not representative of their community.

Not my personal observations, strictly what I am hearing.

Blink OT here.  Is that the RIU Palace in Dominican Republic in your avi pic?  I just got back from there well first wk of Feb.

“Sometimes people don’t want to talk to the cops if they have skeletons in their closet,” said Connie Sheffield, Haleigh’s stepgrandmother. In the small rural community, people may know things they are reluctant to discuss.

The article I linked is about Haleigh's mother's family thanking people with a cookout, it's the second article.

Haleigh's mom's family says 'thanks' with cookout for helpers
Thanks and food are served up in equal portions

    * By Dana Treen
    * Story updated at 8:13 PM on Sunday, Mar. 22, 2009

SATSUMA — For nearly six weeks, the people of southern Putnam County and elsewhere have turned out to support the search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. On Sunday her mother’s family wanted to give back thanks.

Hamburgers and hot dogs sizzled on a grill and side dishes stood ready for any who heeded the signs offering free food and thanks in equal portions.

The cookout also was a chance to showcase a place where those interested in the case can come to talk. Painted one of the still missing kindergartner’s favorite colors, the low purple building will serve as a center to collect information anyone may wish to share.

“Sometimes people don’t want to talk to the cops if they have skeletons in their closet,” said Connie Sheffield, Haleigh’s stepgrandmother. In the small rural community, people may know things they are reluctant to discuss.

Anyone with information about the case can come forward at the center, she said.

“We have to be cautious,” she acknowledged, “but not afraid.”

Many at the cookout early Sunday afternoon were veterans of the search for Haleigh, who vanished Feb. 10 from a mobile home where she was asleep in a room with her father’s then-girlfriend, Misty Croslin. Ronald Cummings has since married the 17-year-old.

Hundreds of law enforcement searchers and volunteers have combed woods and the nearby St. Johns River.

“We figured it would be a nice way to thank the community,” said Marie Griffis, whose daughter, Crystal Sheffield, is Haleigh’s mother.

Crystal Sheffield, who lives in Baker County, has been estranged from Ronald Cummings for several years.

Griffis said the center gives her daughter a way to focus on the investigation.

“It’s therapeutic,” she said.

Inside, there are a pair of couches, a refrigerator and tables piled high with stuffed animals. There are posters of Haleigh, including those that look out onto U.S. 17, where motorists slowed to honk and wave if they didn’t stop.

“It keeps Haleigh’s face alive,” in the minds of passers-by, Griffis said of the center.

“We’re able to keep our minds focused on finding Haleigh.”

Since it's a little slow in here, and I really do read all the posts everyday, but nothing ever seems to have a solid, verifiable answer, so I may have missed this....................  Did we ever find out who drove the SIL's van and parked it weird?
Did we ever find out if the key ring for that van had misty's housekeys on there or does she even have a house key?
TIA
No I have not heard.

OKIe  dokie, will file that right along side all the other gazillions of ????????s    It is so frustrating not knowing anything for sure except poor little HL is vanished.  TY

Yes, I agree.  It's very frustrating.  And with each passing day, I worry we are getting farther from finding her.
I have felt for a few days that this case is going cold, it makes me very sad.

I so hope that is the case.

I, as well, have been holding out hope that she is alive.

My mind has not been able to wrap around the concept that she has maybe been killed.

And, as far as we know, there is no evidence that we are looking for a body.

We are looking for Haleigh, a sweet, happy 5-year-old girl!

The thing that makes me almost certain that Haleigh was not carried down that road to the river by someone is that if someone took her and was gonna carry her to the river they would have had to pass by the Neighbors house on the way down the road to the river and I dont think anyone would have taken that chance.  If you could see the layout of just where this mobile home is located, it would be pretty hard for someone not to notice someone driving in there, that is why I still think it had to be someone inside that home, it just doesnt make sense for it not to be, and if when they took her where ever they took her my bet would be that they went out straight behind the house , which is not towards the river because that would be the best way to go because then no one would be able to see them......
