Alagary - thanks, I don't see any special locks either.  Just typical, lower cost original type door knob with a single cylindar dead bolt.
I'm trying to go back and find out for sure, but I thought the previous tenent said he put a lock of some sort high up, so it might be on the screen door, not this one.

This may be not right at all but I'm looking for the guys interview now.

Sorry~just curious about why LE tore out a wall????? Anyone

From my previous post upthread they tore a wall out..............why?

Looks like the door by the washer/dryer might " house" the HW heater. Maybe they were trying to tie off the plumbing to the washer so they could inspect the washer and bashed the wall ( those walls aren't really drywall, their thinner).
I wonder if LE tore out the walls to look for stashed drugs. Just a thought. And ITA - the dead bolt would be very easy for a 5 year old to reach. Nothing special about the lock at all. Now, I am really suspicious. Doesn't Ron know the media w/be all over that house this weekend?

The walls in a mobile home/manufactured home like this one are thin panels (not drywall.) Often, the water heater is behind such a panel, not in a dedicated closet. You just take out the fasteners and remove the panel to get to the water heater. And it is easily put back up. There would be no need to "tear out" a wall to get to the water heater.

Just a FYI.

A characteristic of Turner Syndrome is that the person is small in stature and not the normal size of a person of that age.  I read somewhere that she was around 3 feet tall.  If you notice the lock is at least 6 to 10 inches above the appliance and the appliance would typically be around 3 feet.  So, to me it appears the lock is 4ft at least and would be much over her head if she tried to reach up.

I think this is what the father meant when he said it was high.  It was high up for her.

Right Brandi.... and also most mobile homes do have a closet door, as in you open it up and theres the water heater. I think the door is showing in pic with washer/dryer.

Agreed. She is reportedly 3 feet tall and 39 pounds with blond hair and brown eyes.

And welcome to the cage, minnie!

They may have noticed something in that area that appeared to be ...maybe recently repaired, or maybe a connection to another ....little hiding space....this maybe have been the entrance possibly.

Well thank you.  I have been reading the posts for a couple of days and find them very interesting and informative.  It seems the media has kind of quieted down. Maybe there is nothing new to report or maybe the families are tired of being blasted and mis-quoted.

Whatever the case I appreciate this forum and the information the folks share.

OK Monkeys I got out the tape measure....standard door knob height is 3' from floor. Haleighs height. That deadbolt is right above it... no need to even get a step stool....not sayin she walked out on her own I am just curious as to WHY he lied? It was NOT to high for her. I wonder if he didn't want to be in his house because he knew we would all realize the inconsistences ( pick, pick, pick I know poor guy). Where there any pictures of the kitchen in relation to the back hallway? TIA

I agree. Not much from the media. Probably because LE is being so tight-lipped.

My only hope is that they are being tight-lipped because they are close to finding her.

But then again, there may be a deadbolt or sliding lock up high on the screen door.

We don't have any pictures of that.

Maybe that is what he meant.

Unless you have one it might be hard to know .putting any kind of lock on the screen door is just a waste of time . Super flimsy.

I can not fathom why anyone would wast their time installing a lock on a screen door or even locking it.  Its screen..... I am noticing though we are not dealing with the brightest rays of sunshine in this case though.

(Sorry I mostly lurk over in this thread just thought that was funny)

I give up, couldn't verify my info and if nobody else remembers it, it's going directly to the  blondemoment file.

There would be no reason to put a lock on a screen door.  You could cut the screen.
