Caldwell County has now shut down traffic around the Zahra search location and asked FAA to limit our chopper flight to 3000 ft.

WCNC at 4 Investigators seem to have a new break according to a source. Source confirmed that something was found by searchers today and by the way searchers were acting something was up. Helicopter told to stay away, roads block. This search was only suppose to last a couple of hours but has lasted all day. Water team in the creek at times 5 feet deep. Not sure where significant item was found by searchers were gathered by the bank.

Bless all these searchers that have been working now over a month to help bring Zahra home.

I think these two men are wearing "dry suits."

Subtract 5 hours for time in North Carolina.

so first would be 12:22 PM

second would be 5:22 PM

I think that's right.

O/T but we used to wear wetsuits and drysuits when we sailed in regattas, the difference being that you would be wet in the wetsuit (most know what these are because most have seen surfers or boogie-boarders wear them.)  The drysuits, however, had a kind of rubber around all the openings for the arms, legs, head, that sealed you into them so that your clothes underneath actually stayed dry.  These were for the coldest of regattas, like in Boston, NY, or Michigan.

Search intensifies for Zahra as flights limited in area

HICKORY, NC (WBTV) - Search teams are combing a new site in Caldwell County on Wednesday for evidence related to the investigation of Zahra Baker, the missing 10-year-old girl.

Crews began searching at an area near Dudley Shoals Drive and Burns Road in Caldwell County at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday.  Officials said the area, which has been searched before, was one of the locations that Elisa Baker suggested search crews look.

The search on Wednesday has taken on a more serious tone with a limited fly zone set up -- meaning news helicopters are not allowed to travel lower than 3000 feet in the area. Also, earlier Wednesday search crews went in with dry suits, and then went in to search a body of water called Gunpowder Creek.

According to WBTV reporter Steve Ohnesorge, police are extremely tight-lipped about what is happening and they seem more intense as the search goes on. The media is being kept back further than ever -- and security for the search area is tighter than it ever has been.

Ohnesorge said that every officer he tried to talk to seems "frantic" and they all told him "I can't say anything."

Monday, investigators  focused on paperwork which must be done, reviewing and re-evaluating their evidence. Police are also interviewing tipsters. On Tuesday, teams searched a site off of Indian Grave Road, just north of Lenoir and 10 miles north of the Christie Road location.

Officials said that the 32 searchers were unable to find any evidence on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, District Attorney Jay Gaither said he re-iterated with the SBI Crime Lab the importance of putting a rush on the case. Gaither said that is standard procedure, and something the SBI was doing before he made the request.

Since the investigation began October 9th, Hickory Police have submitted four rounds of evidence to the SBI for processing. In two of those submissions, the first results came back within a few days, the next results came back in two weeks.

The SBI has not disclosed what evidence was tested; however search warrants were executed on the former Baker home, two cars parked in the driveway, and a search was done at Adam Baker's work site during the timeframe evidence was submitted.

The last two submissions were made to the SBI on November 3rd and 4th. That's when police also announced they found a possible bone connected to Zahra.

DNA evidence will likely be the most crucial evidence in prosecuting whoever brought harm to Zahra Baker. The ten-year-old was reported missing October 9th, by her father, Adam Baker.

He's been arrested and since bonded out of jail on unrelated charges. Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker is charged with writing a fake ransom note to derail investigators.

DNA evidence can take several weeks or months to process. First, a DNA profile from Zahra Baker must be built, before any potential evidence can be compared.

The fact that it's not clear exactly when Zahra disappeared further complicates building her profile. It's not as easy as taking hair from a brush, when it's not even clear when Zahra lived in the family home on 21st Avenue NW.

Her father has since been evicted and police have torn apart walls and floors looking for evidence.
